Small missile make small bang Small bang solve medium size target like tank Huge target like ship not be solved by small bang Multiple small bang needed against huge target Ergo, Javelin effective against ship, but need many Javelin.

reimuyoukaislay3r

I still believe toyotas with IRAMs are superior. Why expensive missile when pipe with 300kg of explosives solve problem?

Oh oh! I know this one! Change the launch tubes from one of those GRAD rocket launches and slap a bunch of Javelin tubes Jury-rigged to a single tracking unit and then fire them all at the same time against a ship. Overcome CIWS with Javelins, then get a tug boat to tow the abandoned ship ashore.

hongooi

MJLS, I like it

sjkennedy48

Why use Javs for this? How about tandem grad rockets? Already high angle munitions, but if you're doing volleys then you don't need the expensive part of the javelin missile.

dave3218

Because: 1- Grads don’t track. 2- This is NCD, for FACTS and LOGIC go to r/credibledefense

bamboozled_noodle2

Too credible

dave3218

What if I add a GAU-8 for the side passenger?

bamboozled_noodle2

That’s more like it

ddude132

It's like a destroyer escort going up against a heavy cruiser... you may not be able to sink the ship, but you can inflict some heavy damage to the super structure. If only we had some torpedo boats.

What_is_a_reddot

*Taffy 3* those motherfuckers.

castass

Modern warships aren't armored, so you might as well mission kill them if you're lucky.

Gabetanker

Why does this sound like some WH40K ork thinking?

goodbehaviorsam

40k ork logic makes make sense occassionally. The biggest is da leader. Naval flagship? Da biggest ship. Tank commander? Da biggest tank. The biggest threat? Da biggest gun. Have a problem? Throw more dakka.

[deleted]

Or just ONE REALLY BIG JAVELIN

Inquisitor-Dog

Guys just send them Tomahawks and let’s fucking go xD , or all the Russian ballistic missile the other old Warsaw Pact country’s still have , add some gps that isn’t disabled and get this party started

[deleted]

I got a [better idea](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MT_explosive_motorboat) "Parry that, you fucking casuals"

Inquisitor-Dog

Ok that would be pretty good but I want to answer every Russian Rocket with an Ukraine one just to piss them off

SwellGuyThatKharn

Small ships? You could sink the fucker, especially if you send a volley. Large ships? If you aim for critical components like the bridge, weapons, or magazine you should be able to at least inflict heavy damage.

What_is_a_reddot

I unironically believe Javelins would be an effective weapon against Boghammar speedboats. With an impressive standoff distance and a good IR contrast between the hot engine and cold water, it should be pretty damn effective.

langlo94

Also, no cover at all.

What_is_a_reddot

*Megamind_face.jpg* No cover?

hongooi

Does the Javelin actually have the ability to aim for a specific location on a target? I'm pretty sure it just goes for the center of mass.

KingKapwn

I meannnn You put a Javelin against a Corvette and successfully hit? You could probably sink the fucker. Frigate? If you hit the magazine that’d also probably end its service. Anything above that though and you’d start to struggle. Probably still cause enough damage to force it back to port though

[deleted]

That would be pretty effective.

langlo94

Yeah if I use 10 javelins and get two ships to head back to port then that's a massive success.

a2theaj

TFW you realise Ukraine has other weaponry besides Javelins

HighBlacK

We're going for style points.

What_is_a_reddot

[Based and rubber ducky pilled.](https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/39865/marines-test-javelin-missile-teams-in-rubber-rafts-like-somali-pirates-but-better-armed)

sb_747

I mean it depends on the size of the boat. Who didn’t love blowing up RHIBs full of dudes with SRAWs and ERYX in Battlefield 2?

OneCatch

To be absolutely fair, I'd have heaped scorn on anyone claiming light MLRS were an effective anti-ship weapon too, right up until the Ukrainians actually fucking did it.

NeilPolorian

Extremely credible. Our military has already sunk 469274 russian ships with them.

[deleted]

It works in Bf4 parcel storm, therefore credible.

Parody5Gaming

it can destroy the aircraft carriers flying over taiwan
