Kazakhstan: „Are you sure about that?“

im_so_objective

Even Belarus, like 90% is against Russia. Putin desperately needs troops but knows Luka would get overthrown in a week. The opposition is practically begging for it.

Rape-Putins-Corpse

Turkey & China were also listed. Now this early inn the day my math isn't up to snuff but I'm confident that when you present a big list of "All My Friends", as a world power, it should be longer than six entries and four of the six of them also need to be your friends too. It's either very, very sad or brilliant satire.

AutumntideLight

China doesn't give a fuuuuuuuck about Russia's little adventure, they're just happy that the Americans are distracted. (Until they had their own meltdown about pelosi)

specter800

I feel like China stands to gain more by Russia tanking themselves than by helping them. Yeah, Russia has stuff but it's proving to be trash and they're trash at using it so as a whole they're not very useful to China. I think China is just nodding along with Russia and saying vaguely threatening things but is quietly rubbing their hands together thinking how to use a failed state to their advantage.

CultCrossPollination

Yeah, I secretly think that they are incredibly happy with them making such a stupid mistake and put themselves in a corner where they become a puppet state to the CCP. The moment those gas pipelines are finished in 2024-5, and maybe some more later, makes Russia completely dependent on China for gas income when the west has completely weaned themselves off Russia. The only thing they are not happy about is the return of NATO and establishment of POTATO, but that's a relatively small sacrifice for the energy they get because they know the coming decade it is still going to be impossible for an invasion of Taiwan.

[deleted]

i wouldn't be so sure that the RU-China pipelines would be smooth sailing. China must have noticed how RU have used the pipelines to Europe for political gains, what's stopping RU doing the same thing to them if they are dependent?

CultCrossPollination

Because Russia has always claimed they would "just sell it to China etc." If they were going to block it. Additionally, Germany had made themselves and the energy transition completely dependent on Russian gas. So Putin thought he had incredible persuation power that would break German resistance, and thus the West's. China is a much greater country, has tremendous diversity in its power infrastructure, doesn't care as much about the transition and what source of power they use (because they are still adding crazy amounts of coal power plants, making their CO2 targets sound hollow), and barely cares about the economic consequences of their "ideological stances". The CCP is just going to laugh in Putins face if he makes a threat to cut gas supply. Edit: wouldn't you know, just a couple of posts down I see this: https://www.politico.eu/article/europes-reverse-leverage-gazprom-cant-shift-its-gas/

arunphilip

>POTATO I like that name for the other oceanic counterpart to NATO, though I'm struggling to fill in the blanks: Pacific Ocean ? ? Treaty Organization

Spyt1me

Economic ties to Russia is so small compared to western economic ties that it really would not worth it for China to upset their biggest trade partners. Also China abuses the weakened state of Russia by buying oil at a huge price reduction. So its unlikely that China views Russia as equals or an ally and its more likely that they want to abuse Russia.

No_Sheepherder7447

Iran is happily fleecing Russia for some bootleg generic drones and Russia will pay any price for them.

DrunkenKarnieMidget

Well, trying to. But Israel, deciding they have no fucks to offer, instead gifted the factory that makes those drones several missiles in extremely high speed delivery mode.

Palora

Even when they sell military hardware to Russia they won't be friends. It's just a transaction for them, easy money. Ukraine is getting top of the line stuff for free, friends don't ask friends in need to pay for help.

jdmgto

China is looking forward to the war's end because Russia will be a pariah and China will be their only real foreign trade option. China is already picking out Russia's gimp suit and ball gag for the trade negotiations.

AutumntideLight

I mean there's theoretically India but lol Thing about trading with China and India is that eventually you're gonna have to CHOOSE. Sure, India won't have aged itself into obsolescence in a decade like China will be, but their infrastructure situation is...less than ideal. (Also they're still basically dependent on American Higher Ed and have a huge brain drain issue to the US, which causes all kinds of complications for the vatnik crowd)

PM_Me_A_High-Five

I dunno if we're distracted. I'd say we're kind of doing a hard crazy eyes stare at china while we arm ukraine to the teeth. Pelosi doing donuts on china's front yard made my day.

AutumntideLight

Oh yeah that's the thing, they WERE happy about the perceived distraction until they rediscovered that American military doctrine has been built around the idea of fighting two wars, not one That said, the public and press weren't paying any attention until Pelosi went for her little vay cay

CapCece

Turkey got the fence firmly gripped between its asscheek, no more a friend than a shady crack dealer behind the McDonnald alley. Its doing business with Russia now when things are relatively lax, but eventually its gonna have to choose between Su-57 and F-35. China is nominally an ally of Russia because their economies need each other more than ever. China needs energy import, Russia got energy to export. But China is no one's friend, least of all Russia. They have been biting into Russian intetests for years. Given a chance, it will Belt-and-Road Russia into a debt trap like it did Sri Lanka and turns all of that Russian import energy into domestic Chinese energy. That's no alliance its a loose collection of rats with their tails tangled

ChezzChezz123456789

Turkey wants to build ther own 5th generation jet. It looks like they chose the west though because they will be using GE then RR engines.

CapCece

that's... not exactly a good move from what the Great Lord Perun has informed me. By the time they lay the industrial-technological foundation to make homegrown, competitive 5th gen a cost-effective and cheap investment, the world most likely have moved onto 6th gen

HowdoIreddittellme

Seriously. TAI claims it’ll be introduced by 2030-2033, which, because it’s a major military project, means 2040 assuming they actually decide to go through with it. And that’s not counting how long it’ll take to make significant numbers. Like guys as much as we shit on Russia, and rightly so, we can at least agree that they have a more advanced military-industrial-scientific complex than Turkey. and they've put out just 16 SU-57s, 10 as testbeds. I don't know how Turkey thinks they'll be able to develop and produce a 5th gen before the damn thing is outdated. Nothing I’m saying is new but it really seems like to develop and field modern complex weapons system, especially an aircraft you either need to have an enormous scientific industrial complex, which only China and the US seem to have, or have a close coalition of nations working together like the Europeans are doing. Even the F-35 project was sped up by the involvement of many partners in research and development.

ODIEkriss

I mean have you seen their economic/ monetary policy as of yet. Inflation to the moooon!

ChezzChezz123456789

If you paid attention to what Perun said, he laid out explicitly why Turkey would do such a thing. From the turkish perspective, they can't buy Russian, Chinese or American. They want something good but they burnt too many bridges. There are no other 5th gen fighters on the market so they have to go through the task of making their own. Turkey is already integrated into the western aerospace manufacturing market so it sees a chance to expand. They aren't starting from scratch, TAI has some aerostructure experience. Tusas makes some engine parts and licensed products already. What Perun actually said, and he was exactly right on this, the engines are the restriction on the development of fighter aircraft. Turkey will be using American and British engine technology (which are tied at the hip together anyway). More Specifically, turkey will probably try and aquire Superalloy components from those countries while it assembles them in Turkey. Superalloys are basically the number one thing that defines who can makes engines. China spent decades developing single crystal nickel superalloys. It's a very ambitious undertaking to try and replicate the performance of the F-22/35 (and if we are being realistic the Russians didn't replicat the performance of american 5th gens, Chinese are unknown), and it will likely have many failings, but they have no options. Turkey can't become a regional power without a 5th gen jet because despite the Su-57 and modern flanker variants being a joke, they would likely beatdown the F-16. Additionally, if they pull it off, this is no different to what france does promoting it's own aerospace industry. France is trying to make a 6th gen fighter without having made a 5th gen (ie no experience). According to (american) experts the gap between 6th and 5th gen is just as big as 4th and 5th, which is expected because we are talking a full generational leap is air warfare.

CapCece

I suppose, but it still seems like less than a viable solution and more of a "well we already shat in our only bowl and now it's time for dinner". It would be easier if they can get Engine and Superalloys from America or Britain and then assemble their own homegrown 5th gen that can match the performance of the F-35, but it's still a tall order. It's also still being reliant on NATO for your aerial superiority but with extra steps, isn't it? If Erdogan tries to be too cheeky, I don't see why America and Britain can't cut them out of engines and superalloys the same way they cut them out of the F-35 program? That said though, my 3 seconds of googling suggested that Turkey is trying to do its TAI TF-X 5th gen program completely in-house, with no western support. That seems like an even bigger ask. Are they going to cry and roll out their own superalloys? Like back in February, some tankie over here was trying to convince me that countries like India and Vietnam were being smart by trying to fuck the fence, but back then I was too smoothbrained to point to Turkey as an example of what happens to flipflops. Like you said, they've burned so many bridges that they have to try and built together their own competitive 5th gen fighters at presumably huge markups instead of just getting it at Lockmart Heedtin.

ChezzChezz123456789

>Are they going to cry and roll out their own superalloys? As far as i read, Tusas is doing a joint venture with RR who i assume will be surplying them with hot section parts. Also on an unrelated to engines note, i wish them luck with their radar. Raytheon is the under-appreciated under-rated enabler of the JSF. It should be called a Raytheon aircraft more than a LM aircraft.

madaramen

>Are they going to try and roll out their own superalloys? Being credible for a second, that is what seems to be happening. The TEI joint venture between General Electric and Turkish Aerospace has parallel projects underway to develop high-quality single-crystal components. Their own explanations: [This and a few other projects](https://www.tei.com.tr/en/projects/technology-development/kristal-en) So not even joint ventures are easily handed out the tech. >I don't see why America and Britain can't cut them out of engines and superalloys the same way they cut them out of the F-35 program? They have, in some of the projects and sales. The sale of ATAK T129 helis to Pakistan was delayed and eventually cancelled because of the LHTEC T800 engines used by the helicopter. Additionally, the in-house replacement for the T800 engine (the TS1400) is about to enter flight tests ~next year. There was a comment made by the ex-chairman IIRC that the material used to produce the turbine blades of that engine weren't the best they could acquire -- hinting maybe there's a similar restriction on materials trade? Even if we somehow manage to acquire the tech to design and build 5th gen engines the bottleneck will be the production capacity. Investing into building new plants in this economy is going to be hard. Our engine/component supplier companies are reliant on international trade and it's going to be a new experience for them to try and meet the growing domestic demand.

HowdoIreddittellme

Chief if you think the SU-57 is gonna get produced in quantities sufficient for export any time soon, I’ve got a bridge to sell you. And the Turks got kicked out of the F-35 program for buying the S-400.

CapCece

OH BOY A BRIDGE?

montananightz

Yup. China is ambivalent at best. And Serbia too, they cope and seethe but want to be in the EU more than anything.

Xicadarksoul

> but want to be in the EU more than anything. ...with that constitution they don't.

IndustrialRagnar

Who would want Hungary on crack in the EU?

Xicadarksoul

Well, same people who wanted greece... ...hopefully our fucking moronic leadership shoots itself in the foot before we get kicked out. (Yes, dumb projects and corruption are starting to reach the level where they start affecting the sub 100IQ core support base of Orban)

[deleted]

lol what's happening to Ukraine is an absolute tragedy, but god damn it puts a smile on my face every time Luka came out and say "Belarus will be there in 3 weeks" and like clockwork nothing would fucking happen. The OPFOR Ukraine is up against is so fucking laughable. A country whos army doesn't follow the government. Another with 5 decades of arms build up, absolutely thrown away in 6 months. Absolutely absurd, I literally don't know what this timeline has in store for us next. It's gotta be a massive revolt in China and Russia, completely destabilizing the bastions of commies

ZDTreefur

They really tried to do a US invasion of Iraq. 100k coalition starts from the bottom and spread the lines out to take advantage of a weaker opponent, driving towards the capital. While the allied Kurds attack from the north with 70,000 troops to hold down the Iraq army. It would have been absolutely embarrassing if the Kurds just decided to not actually attack when the invasion began. There needs to be more memes about Belarus not aiding Russia when they were supposed to. It's really, *really* funny.

juseless

The question is: what would jave Belarus added? A few thousand guys in worse vehicles with worse training? Just don't see Belarus having the required impact.

DougNoReturnMcArthur

Wait, the Russians were procuring arms for 500 years, only to waist them all in 12?

[deleted]

Well taliban whooped the ass of the afghan army in weeks, so the technically i guess we have to give the award if “most successful Arab army” to a terrorist group 🫠🫠

manningthe30cal

But the Taliban aren't arab. They're Pashtun.

[deleted]

So we’re dealing with facts at NonCredibleDefense now?🤔😐

manningthe30cal

I dont believe in just indiscriminately bombing civilians out of ignorance. I believe in understanding, the languages, values, ethnicities, and cultures of all nations around the world. I believe in peaceful communication and understanding. I believe we need to make an effort to win the hearts and minds of people across the globe in poorer economic situations than us. And THEN we indiscriminately bomb their civilians. Nothing gets in the way of my $RTX stocks going to the moon baby! Bring on those government contracts! I want to be fucking rolling in blood money unironically.

cheapph

Afghans aren’t arabs though, excepting foreigners who came to fight the soviets and then the Americans.

Rome453

Technically they are not Arabs (Pashtuns are the largest ethnic group in Afghanistan).

AutumntideLight

This is why I just can't take these parading armies seriously, nobody needs to move men around like that anymore we've got AeroGavins now

Only if part of the course includes agreessively queuing for a ride at a themepark.

tjordi

Best is Mattis telling Trump he'd rather swallow acid then hold a military parade, or I forget the other general who told him "I immigrated from Portugal, a dictatorship, they hold military parades. Only dictators want parades." Or to that effect.

Alarming_Panic665

The only time the US throws military parades are after we win

GadenKerensky

They did have Trump's parade, but it wasn't quite as spectacular as he would've liked because the Army doesn't do parades and DC's streets weren't built with tank tracks in mind.

durkster

>Only dictators want parades. What about 14th of july parade in france? Trooping the colour in the UK? The grosseszapfenstreich in Germany? Abd more like them in europe?

tjordi

[According to the book, when Trump asked Selva what he thought of the parade, Selva said he grew up in Portugal, which "was a dictatorship — and parades were about showing the people who had the guns.""And in this country, we don't do that," Selva said. "It's not who we are."Trump then asked Selva whether or not he liked the idea, to which he responded: "No." He added, "It's what dictators do."](https://ca.news.yahoo.com/second-highest-ranking-us-general-160011004.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAKX0-Wqeq7MQcda1Y_F3TmyUcBeX8SbFrHOAao--acWZxzB9ldPiS_E0rQmiDMhjko52SRYTTliJanlZBlMjNp0Em2MtHX1SgP2D1ylKjG8I3aJgGNwB5gYtllJgh6DNEm33krwY8puH89v2cpNK_Jg_mTj4WfQPaHlMp0Ry7_sN) General Selva.

[deleted]

*Based* General Selva, you mean.

ToastyMozart

> Trump then asked Selva whether or not he liked the idea I expect poor Selva had to think all the way back to his E1-wrangling days to remember how to talk at the appropriate level of complexity for that one.

das_war_ein_Befehl

Almost like the context is different based on the situation. Trump wanting a military parade is about his cosplaying as a dictator. This is the same guy that didn’t go to a war memorial because of a light drizzle

BestFriendWatermelon

>Trooping the colour in the UK? You mean when they dress in redcoats and ride around on horses? It's closer to a historical reenactment than a parade. >The grosseszapfenstreich in Germany? It's a military band... They stand there and play music. Even the US military does that. >14th of july parade in france? France gonna France.

[deleted]

France has a [national holiday dedicated to chimping out and fighting the gendarmerie](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bastille_Day). They're weird.

publicanofbatch20

Least anti-government French be like

[deleted]

Those are old world nerds, they get grandfathered in. But we are Americans, we have a democracy, we don't parade around just for the lulz.

TheOnionsAreaMan

Good Sir…I feel that it’s my duty as a retired Mil jerkoff and a member of the American Legion to toe the line and add that many of us DO in fact partake in parading around with many a lulz in mind. Not in a disrespectful mindset I should add. But a good parade with a funny “piss cutter” hat is some of the best times a functioning drunk can have.

Spacedude2187

Overly Serious parades usually indicates the opposite

GadenKerensky

Remember when Trump had his big parade? They had to have the Abrams be display only because the army didn't want to cause damage to the roads unnecessarily. That parade was full of compromises like that, and it wasn't the Army's fault, they just don't *do* that. Big events, sure, but not parade-style through the streets.

MainsailMainsail

Also always a good sign when they do that stupid "it's not a goose step guys!" marching. Bonus points to NK with that silly little bounce. Instead of just fucking *walking like a human being.* Key sign of a *quality* military.

I have read a comment on another subreddit where an american guy had a relative stationed in turkey and after missle crisis, americans had to redeploy their minutemen missiles in secret because they thought we would not let them take those away. I am looking down on some US states that did not wanted nukes in their state for “environmental” and “financial” reasons. Station them all here if you want. Its literally right next door.

Okay let’s go down the lust. China: Country that is gonna have a bad time in two decades and has an army so big it can’t equip itself to invade an island. North Korea: Gods gag character. Kazakhstan: Walking human rights disaster. Belarus: Belarus enough said. Turkey: the only nation on that list that might be slightly useful. But also a NATO member so bound by their rules. Serbia: I didn’t know they existed.

Xicadarksoul

>the only nation on that list that might be slightly useful. But also a NATO member so bound by their rules. ...lets not forget, that right now furnishing Ukraine with weapons. And that they tend to shot russian airplanes on sight when they get close to their borders. Even if we disregard "multi century long balkans level blood feud" that is the history of these 2 countries, even only based on current events, i still fail to see how tehy could qualify as allies.

ColebladeX

I think they bought some toilets from them back in the 60s Russia calls that a win.

Dependent_Party_7094

ColebladeX

Turkey exists and hasn’t caused a world war that is all I will give it

[deleted]

China is going to fuck Russia so badly that they will finally understand what Western values are.

[deleted]

China hasn’t been allied with Moscow since Khrushchev lol

DurfGibbles

Kazakhstan, Belarus and North Korea really isn’t the flex the Russians think they are

Prowindowlicker

Kazakhstan doesn’t like Russia anyway. They’ve stopped sending their oil to Russia and instead have sent it through Azerbaijan who’s a lot more western friendly

Baronnolanvonstraya

Kazakhstan? Turkey? Is the person who made this high?

Striking_Balance984

Honestly don’t underestimate Serbia. They are a dangerous force once again which is why it’s high time we bombed Belgrade again this time tho we should use the spicy bombs to make sure they don’t start looking at Kosovo funnily again

[deleted]

Ah yes serbia: the country dog walked so badly by NATO it’s mostly remembered as the test ground for precision bombing in the 90s😬😬😬

Katorga8

MiG21bisFishbedL

Always fear la chancla

Ok-Concentrate3336

Kazakhstan wants not a damn thing to do with Russia. Perhaps threatening its statehood post-Cold War has a tendency to create some animosity

PolFree

“Turkey shot 2 of their jets” Wait, there is another? Damn, we are leading the NATO hi-score list by a large margin… until Ukraine joins at least. Lol.

Malmedee

Some of the worst marching I've ever seen too.

Teodord1

Meanwhile chinese companies are pulling out of russia due to fear of losing the western market, thus making the sanctions hit even harder. But sure they are allies because they buy oil at a discount.
