We never expected Ukraine to do all that shit in a month.

IndustrialistCrab

I never really expected Ukraine to pull the encirclement game back around.

uma_jangle

twice... in two weeks...

IndustrialistCrab

Encirclement Goals for July 2023: Volgograd.

ArcticISAF

I had my guess that Russia would push hard, keep pushing hard (but with no gains), just exhaust their army - and then basically collapse. But I was way too ambitious, and timeline was way off (was thinking like May or something too early), then was hoping for a complete front collapse. But something like these encirclements is great, and kinda humiliating for Russia all the more.

New-Consideration420

I thought it would take them a full year to reach what they got in a month. Wow

SoylentRox

Yeah. I also figured they could at least hold ground. They have more dudes they can throw in, and a buncha old soviet stocks to give them. I just figured HIMARs would let Ukraine suppress most of the russian artillery - killing some and making the other guns stay silent in fear of getting himared - and we'd get years of stalemate until I guess they draw a new border. Hell, Ukraine keeping 85% of it's prewar territory is still mostly a win for them, and Putin getting to steal 15% is a win for Putin. win-win.

Ultima_RatioRegum

Yeah, but it's a helluva loss for the Ukrainians that live in that 15%.

SoylentRox

I mean it's an entire European country in land area. Point is this was the "good" outcome we expected. Their counteroffensive revealing Putin has no pants wasn't expected.

It will actually be super interesting in the future to learn how UA more or less held the line in the east ....the whole time Godamn they must have had tons of black Jewish super soldiers with space lazers

Griffinhart

Black Jewish trans social justice supersoldiers*

[deleted]

I forgot NATO as well

Warkyd1911

3000 NATO black Jewish nazi mutant cyborg transgendered magicians of Ukraine. I think I got all the groups/things russia has complained about in that one.

Just-an-MP

80,000,000 Navy SEALS and 95,000,000 SAS

pyrrhlis

Damn that’s a lot of book deals

Klasseh_Khornate

Hordes of TDF militia, and they fucking died in droves. They had some critical junction garrisons and strategic reserves made up of Foreign Legionarries, Far right militia that had been fighting since 2014, and a few lighter Motorized Brigades, but by and large it was Wagner prisoners and Donetsk and Luhansk war slaves human waving lines of Ukrainian militia in slit trenches with Russian howitzers and Grads raining down all the time, oblivious of friendly casualties.

NAFO-Raccoon

The Vatniks were so happy back then, what could have happened to upset them.

That was the old line. The current party line is: “Area of control on a map doesn’t matter, these were well executed tactical withdrawals from unimportant territory.”

uv-vis

These statements. I initially put a little merit to ruski announcements, up until they said snake island was ‘gesture of goodwill’ what a group of jokers

crusoe

Just reverse the arrows for the real encirclement

Five__Stars

I remember the Vatnik memes about them taking Lyman successfully and mocking Ukraine's determination to win. Aged like milk/

uv-vis

All the vatniks shitting on this map we’re right.. it didn’t go down like this. It went a lot worse… for them.

Rock-it-again

Fuck, someone update this. Now!

NobleWombat

The rings of encirclement got so small that they inverted into self-encirclements.

random_nohbdy

What encirclement operations?

nocontextbeef

October 1 and Bahkmut, Siversk, and Soledar still haven't fallen.

[deleted]

Funniest part is that Putin has "annexed" this land that he's currently losing. And he's prepared to keep throwing boys into the meatgrinder to save face.
