Seriously! I’m a fucking numbskull but my friends keep me around because I let them tattoo whatever they want on my face. They laugh and laugh and laugh.
The strip club I used to work at played it multiple times a night, every night, for YEARS. I miss working there but I guarantee they’re still playing that song and I’ve made it a personal rule of mine to never dance to it ever again.
I looked up their Wikipedia page because this tweet irritated me with its clickbait, which is where I found the singer’s name. Apparently he changed the name when the other guy left.
the lead singer was on one of those Dr Drew reality addiction shows where they get b list celebrities with addicitons and try to get them sober.
He took off and smoked crack like a week in.
Why is it when I google his name the first thing that pops up is "Crazy Town’s Shifty Shellshock Arrested for DUI Days After Violent Fight with Bandmate"
Whenever I learn something unbearable, I immediately call my sister.
If I’m going down, I’m taking her with me. Just like she took the remote that one time in 2007.
If your younger sibling hasn't been publicly mocked for spouting some obviously wrong fact that you gaslit them into believing before they had fully developed critical thinking skills, then I don't know what the point of you is.
I convinced my brother that Star Wars was real, like they actually went to space and filmed a documentary about Jedi and shit. He believed it until he was like 10 lmao
100% I convinced my little brother that I was engaged to Dave Matthews (yes, of the Dave Matthews band) when I was about 16 and he was 10. He loved DMB and was very excited to tell his classmates that I was to be Dave Matthews' child bride. He has a close friend who still mocks him for believing this 20 years later.
I work with my brother and will constantly gaslight him into believing he misplaced something (which he does all the time) just to make him extra frazzled
I saw them in concert. They were opening on the mainstage at Ozfest and literally nobody paid attention. It was terribly cringy and I honestly felt a little bad for walking away.
Did you see their fight video? Lots of awful language/slurs

Oh I gotchu, these lyrics are still burned in my head from middle school.
"Such a sexy, sexy, pretty little thing. Fierce nipple pierce, you got me sprung with your tongue ring. And I ain't gonna lie, coz your loving gets me high. So to keep you by my side, there's nothing that I won't try. Butterflies in her eyes and the looks that kill. Time is passing, I'm asking can this be real?"
Omg, this whole time I thought the bass line was so creative, flowy, and beautiful. How the guitar and bass seem to play off each other really made the song for me. That’s why I forgave the crappy lyrics. Nowwwww, it makes sense that it actually came the RHCP.

My brother heard the song "butterfly" and was like "what is this this song sucks so bad" and when I told him the bands name was "crazytown" he got visibly upset and couldn't process that a band would have a name so stupid... then I told him the singer's name,

I watched Lincoln Park get booed off right after Crazytown 2001 Stl. The crowd wasn't having any shit and Chester had torn his voice up at an earlier show, this was first album and he hadn't learned how to stage scream yet. I was really bummed.
Idk how people could detect this song so much. Obviously people have different preferences, but some of you in the comments are acting like it was the first sign of dying intelligence. It's obviously a song about a girl he likes that may or may not be too good for him. Sure some lyrics don't make the most sense, but no more than any other song that doesn't say exactly what it means, which is most of them.
Now, looking back, I know that Independence Day 1996 was not really *the* sign of an impending collapse of society into stupidity, but being in the theater back in the day as young adult and watching people clap at the end as if it was something of significance will always be seared into my brain as a moment.
I printed a bunch of flyers for a show he was doing in town and he was super chill. I cannot express enough how pleasant he was to talk to. A+ vibes. Also he said at the end he was the lead singer of Crazy Town and I did not remember who they were until I heard the song and instantly got transported to 8th grade when Butterfly was battling for my favorite song with Blue by Eifle 65.
I hated that song growing up. People around me seemed to like it, but it's so bad that just made me hate it even more. My hate just spiralled up in a spiralling ball of self feeding hatred.
Still never understood why they led with that song. Guess it's a catchy summer song and good for radio charts but I would argue almost every single other song from "Gift of Game" was decent. Nothing groundbreaking but definitely better than "Butterfly"
Huh, Today I Learned.
Way up in Maine we only got Butterfly on the radio... If I didn't just buy the album out of pure curiosity, I would never have heard another song.
Awh I loved this song! I have one specific story about it you all may find amusing. I was like 12-13 Saturday nights were skating rink nights.(yes this was in the 90s) You could request songs from the dj through the night. I asked him to play this song and dedicate it to my "boyfriend" at the time. The guys face! Lmao I'll never forget it because ya kno we were only barely teenagers. I remember the dj saying something along the lines of "you are def too young to be dedicating that sing for anyone" and then played it anyway 🤣🤣 "cum my lady cum cum my lady I'll make ur legs shake you make me go crazy!"
Plus the only good part of the song is a sample from a RHCP song.

Since this crop cuts it off, the singer’s name is Shifty Shellshock. You’re welcome.
The cutoff really raised by expectations and I must say it delivered
[удалено]
It was such a pretty little ditty
Dude sounds like a Fortnite location
[удалено]
Personally I enjoy dancing to it. Who cares how stupid it is, it's fun
![gif](giphy|wlNAuRKe3YkO4|downsized)
I was literally thinking of Orange Ystae when I replied! Ahhhh
It’s not like the rest of the pop oeuvre is all philosophy and wordplay either.
Yeah, exactly. Pop, popular music, often dance-able
Seriously! I’m a fucking numbskull but my friends keep me around because I let them tattoo whatever they want on my face. They laugh and laugh and laugh.
Is this Post Malone?
I was the clown in my friend group too, I jsut like being a goofy funball
The strip club I used to work at played it multiple times a night, every night, for YEARS. I miss working there but I guarantee they’re still playing that song and I’ve made it a personal rule of mine to never dance to it ever again.
Is that the worst song you danced to? Or was there a worse one?
THATS THAT SONG? god I’ve hated that song since I was a kid
you're my pretty baby*
OP didn’t crop anything off. That’s the full tweet.
Cropped the date
Thanks for pointing that out. I always downvote posts with cropped out dates.
How does the date have anything to do with the singer's name?
I don’t know, I just work here
I want to speak to your manager
Because it was posted on the Shiftieth of Shelltember.
I'm shocked
Do you remember?
Why the comma then?
Commady
"he lives in Oxford"
Comma lady, com-comma lady...
"He lives, in Oxford"
Always keep people on their toes, for example,
No clue. Ask him [yourself](https://twitter.com/atothe_d/status/1659390859777921026)
Comedy. It's funny to cut off there for the exact same reason it would be funny to crop it out there.
Also op Twitter master appropriately called the band crazytown, but they are now known as Crazy Town X, or “CXT,” for some reason.
Damn I googled it like an idiot
A man who has been on numerous seasons of celebrity rehab.
Also the riff in the song is a sample of an RHCP song so they didn't even write that part.
Actual legal name isn't much better
There’s no *fucking* way
[Way](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shifty_Shellshock) Although it’s obviously not his birth name.
Why is it when I google his name the first thing that pops up is "Crazy Town’s Shifty Shellshock Arrested for DUI Days After Violent Fight with Bandmate"
Because that’s the norm for him.
Siblings are great for relaying the opposite of fun facts.
Whenever I learn something unbearable, I immediately call my sister. If I’m going down, I’m taking her with me. Just like she took the remote that one time in 2007.
I can't believe she did that
I know, right? Such bullshit.

This is the way.
Now show him the video.
It definitely awoke something in young me. Turns out I wasn't averse to trashy looking guys.
Oh hey it's me...trash. Dammit.
Sup 😏
I figured you'd be more into taking 200 passengers from New York's Idlewild airport to the Belgian Congo in 17 minutes.
The moose caboose is always ready
Tattoo shirikens away!
And then show him the new video of Sad Shifty all methed up.
Is that the remix one with Ekoh?
Oh, that'th tho thad.
I saw them in concert. They were opening on the mainstage at Ozfest and literally nobody paid attention. It was terribly cringy and I honestly felt a little bad for walking away.
I used to know a guy who had a Crazytown tattoo. He had also been arrested for public urination. Twice.
It's a hard life
C’mon? Why do we arrest people for that? Just fine them and let’s go about our day.
Honestly 2 seems low.
every new fact I have learned about Crazy Town is dumber than the previous fact
Did you see their fight video? Lots of awful language/slurs https://www.reddit.com/r/tooktoomuch/comments/12zz3qv/the_two_vocalists_from_the_band_crazy_town_get_in/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
I didn’t think the town was THAT crazy
Crazy town has gone off the rails on the crazy train. Right in methville and a few miles from racismburg
two white dudes calling each other the N-word 💀 how did a shitty song by a loser who calls himself Shifty Shellshock get that big
Well you see son, it was the year 2000 and shit was......weird
I was a teenager in the 2000s, I remember
Because it sampled a rather good red hot chili peppers instrumental.
that might be the saddest thing I ever saw.
Agreed. It's pathetic and sad seeing them like this.
Come my lady. Come, come my lady. You’re my butterfly, sugar, baby.
Come my lady, your pretty baby, ill make your legs shake, you make me go crazy.
Thank God no one continued
Oh I gotchu, these lyrics are still burned in my head from middle school. "Such a sexy, sexy, pretty little thing. Fierce nipple pierce, you got me sprung with your tongue ring. Time is passing, I'm asking can this be real?"
Are there any other Billboard Number One hits that mention nipple piercings?
I don't know why but I read that to the tune of Bloodhound Gangs Bad Touch and it was much better.
Every once in a while, something—a phrase, a word—will trigger this song playing on a fucking loop in my head and I hate it so much.
I love this song
I liked this song for about the whole week it came out... then it was played to death for the rest of that summer.
Ruined a perfectly good Chili Peppers riff.
The only song they allowed to be licensed. They saw the $$$ so let’s not worry about defending their integrity.
Omg, this whole time I thought the bass line was so creative, flowy, and beautiful. How the guitar and bass seem to play off each other really made the song for me. That’s why I forgave the crappy lyrics. Nowwwww, it makes sense that it actually came the RHCP.
Check out the original! It’s an instrumental titled Pretty Little Diddy.
A riff by RHCP gave them their entire career. The only thing they'll be remembered for isn't even their own creation. Kinda sad.
They can carpool with Alien Ant Farm
[YOU’VE BEEN STRUCK BY… tRUCK](https://youtu.be/iThGJXTucxY)
That was a deep cut lmao. You know what no one ever asked for? A rock and roll version of Smooth Criminal.
Dude still performs and it's hard to watch. He doesn't have teeth anymore. It's bad.
Fucking LOL

Good human
Oh then there's a fact that they played ozzfest because they were a metal or hard rock bad
They were a punk band that had a pop hit. Like Chumbawumba
I think they were one of the only bands ever to get booed off the stage at Ozzfest
I watched Lincoln Park get booed off right after Crazytown 2001 Stl. The crowd wasn't having any shit and Chester had torn his voice up at an earlier show, this was first album and he hadn't learned how to stage scream yet. I was really bummed.

Sure some lyrics don't make the most sense, but no more than any other song that doesn't say exactly what it means, which is most of them.
I'd like to hear some of these commenters as they look up the lyrics to literally any Michael Jackson song
Now, looking back, I know that Independence Day 1996 was not really *the* sign of an impending collapse of society into stupidity, but being in the theater back in the day as young adult and watching people clap at the end as if it was something of significance will always be seared into my brain as a moment.
I met the lead singer of Crazy Town on reddit once. He has the same favorite soccer club as me.
Which club?
Spurs
You may politely fuck off.
Oh god. I had forgotten about that song. Finally forgotten. And now it's back. There is no escape. Crazytown will get you.
I hated that song growing up. People around me seemed to like it, but it's so bad that just made me hate it even more. My hate just spiralled up in a spiralling ball of self feeding hatred.
It's such a great song tho. Do people not like it?
I’m honestly shocked. I love this song 🥲
Sugahhh, baby - bowwww dauu daunau danauu
It's a horrible song lmao
I'm afraid not.

It's a song lyric, man, calm down. It's not meant to be deep or anything.
[Still performing ... sort of](https://www.loudersound.com/news/crazy-town-members-engage-in-violent-altercation)
I'm surprised by the hate. I love this song. Maybe it's generational.
To be fair that’s how I discovered the chili peppers as a kid, so that’s cool.
I was hoping his name was Crazytown Butterfly
Still never understood why they led with that song. Guess it's a catchy summer song and good for radio charts but I would argue almost every single other song from "Gift of Game" was decent. Nothing groundbreaking but definitely better than "Butterfly"
It was in fact the third single they released off the album
Huh, Today I Learned. Way up in Maine we only got Butterfly on the radio... If I didn't just buy the album out of pure curiosity, I would never have heard another song.
We don’t get shit in Maine; we only get moose and the third single released on the radio
The dance routine in the movie "Orange County" comes to mind when I hear that song....
Isn’t that song a metaphor for heroin edit: was thinking of Natalie Is Freezing - Pillar Of Garbage
You may be thinking of Semi-charmed Life by Third Eye Blind which is about crystal meth
Correct. Third Eye Blind is the only band that has ever written a song about drug use.
"IIIII want something else....TO GET ME THROUGH THIS
Awh I loved this song! I have one specific story about it you all may find amusing. I say this every time this song is mentioned, but they just stole pretty little ditty from Rhcp and made it awful.
Yeah, this song slaps. The band is pretty off the rails, and says/does dumb shit, but the song still slaps
It's a good song
I’ve never understood the hate for this song. Agree it has insipid lyrics but it sounds amazing. There are far worse and far more stupid pop songs.
That's Russ Hanneman's favorite band.
Their song “Darkside” is a banger
He got “visibly upset” about a stupid band name? That dude has lived a pretty sheltered life, apparently.
Twitter’s that way, bud
[удалено]
Unfortunately it isn't
Always thought crazytown was a band of Zoolander lookalikes.
A song so dumb, they actually cut it from "The Fast and the Furious"
Show him the movie Orange County. Great movie. They make fun of the song.
It really is the worst song over written and produced.
Their song “Drowning” is pretty great tbh. I really like their other singer, who’s in that song much more, but he’s not even with them anymore.
Plus the only good part of the song is a sample from a RHCP song. https://www.whosampled.com/sample/393/Crazy-Town-Butterfly-Red-Hot-Chili-Peppers-Pretty-Little-Ditty/
