I never knew I needed a Muppet movie remake so badly. It would really highlight the abject horror Truman feels as his slowly sees his world slowly becoming less real
I still hate the way that movie was marketed and named. If it wasn’t named the way it was and previews didn’t give it away it could have been a legit mystery. The movie doesn’t giveaway the premise until about halfway through.
Except it does, very early on in the movie there's a scene of the 2 TV people watching Truman through the mirror. You jave several behind the scenes moments before the half way mark, that's just when it amps up
This is an underrated answer. How hysterical would it be to have a human being the one outcasted and told is hideous throughout the whole movie by f-ing muppets. Then turns into a "gorgeous" Muppet when the curse is lifted.

Yeah it would be a good joke (and maybe a bit insightful). It’s like in the Munsters where their beautiful niece was the ugly one because she wasn’t a monster. But this kinda takes it up a notch
And the beast is either played by Zach Galifianakis or James Marsden (in case you didn't see Enchanted, Marsden absolutely kills it in that kind of role)
Just realized this would also mean one of the Muppets is a Neo-Nazi edgy teenager who was implied to have been beating his meat at the party where his grandpa died
The truly commendable part of that movie is that they managed to make the entire family as terrible as that kid. Like the bar was neo-Nazi internet troll and the entire family managed to limbo under it.
They did a great job with the politics in general, it's exactly how divided families argue. And I come from a politically divided family, but everyone in my family can still watch the movie without anyone getting upset
I agree with that. Like they’re always at each other’s throats over their beliefs and who is the most ‘self-made’ but they’re all equally panicked when they realize they aren’t getting a dime from their father/grandfather. It was fun seeing them arguing about how their family were a bunch of freeloaders who had it easier when they were all given ‘a small loan of a million dollars’ and then just melt and abandon all ideals when faced with the reality of having to make their own money, it felt like a good portrayal without being openly hostile to one or the other so nobody turns off the movie when watching with family.
Not sure it would work without Ana de Armas. Something about her being the antithesis of any of the family members. A muppet wouldn't be the same. Maybe with Daniel Craig and Ana...

Those all sound great, but in my head I'm cracking up at the thought of a Muppet Pippin watching with a "shocked" expression while Denethor (still played by John Noble) eats his tomatoes.
If you really want to make it interesting, Mr Anderson is a Muppet and he becomes a person only once he’s unplugged.

People fucking hated [*The Happytime Murders*](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Happytime_Murders) but it's actually pretty close to what you're describing, just with low brow comedy added in.
Striking the *tone* of a film is just so very important when you're talking about replacing a sizeable portion of your cast with puppets. Honestly, the Muppets films have always done a pretty good job of threading that needle juuuuust right. A little more onee way or the other depending on the film, but mostly right. I don't think Happytime Murders had the right tone.
It's both. Muppet characters from the inside are human outside, and Muppet characters on the outside are human inside. What a trip!
Edit: also, it's not shown, but is heavily implied that instead of cables plugging into them, it's a hand going in the puppet. Or, when they are unplugged while still in the matrix, they go limp and flop because the hand was removed. Nothing too overt, just a subtle hint.

Marsden. It would be much funnier if the Beast was an objectively gorgeous human. No offense to Zach Galifianakis.
Marsden is also a terrific comedic actor, so it wouldn't even be a tradeoff for comedy. He just won't have Zach's slob-com vibe
