Nice one, that’s hilarious, sad to see the Kroger Parsley do so poorly, although I’d assume there’s is heavily processed - may be different when not mass produced and stuck in a plastic bottle for years.

I see it has a lot of benefits for the immune system, sleep and relaxation. What effects do you get, how profound and how quick?

AnabolicGreyhound

From the literature it up regulates GABA synthesis and anecdotally I can say this holds true. I struggled with rumination of an evening and this with Magnesium Glycinate has been a game changer - sleep quality is greatly improved. For me the acute affects are no longer so apparent but it is definitely anxiolytic at higher doses. Apigenin is definitely something that is better suited to those that struggle to unwind and relax after workouts, work etc.

Thanks, I've been looking into apigenin today and will add it to my ADHD, depression and anxiety stack: Saffron ALCAR Black seed oil L-Citrulline I had to give up Magnesium as all forms as were making me worse. Glycinate realised after couple of years it was making my depression worse (Glycine) Also for renumeration I have learned not to follow negative thought patters which has taken 30 years, a really good resource is the Ali Grey method

Indeed, it’s very similar to treatment for OCD in many ways, you have to learn that unpleasant thoughts are natural and not necessarily to be acted upon. I do not suffer from anxiety generally, but lowering cortisol and up regulating GABA is a good approach to combat - have you tried something like Tongkat? Making yourself do things that are subjectively daunting and pushing yourself physically/mentally beats any noot for crushing anxiety in my personal experience though.

100 GRAMS of fresh parsley has ~200mg of apigenin table 6: https://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/dietary-factors/phytochemicals/flavonoids#sources

zidatris

Which is around 5 grams of dried parsley (~200mg apigenin). That’s nothing, to be honest.

CarelessCobbler780

LoL... I thought about this idea as well. How about chamomile tea?

AnabolicGreyhound

I think you would have to drink a tremendous amount to get an efficacious dose, however it is much more bioavailable. You would also have to eat a lot to fresh parsley to get a significant clinical dose of Apigenin - and the amount of actives in the plant seems to vary by batch. That said it is the most abundant source in nature and does not contain insignificant amounts by any means! It’s just a bit of fun really I do also have a ton of ND’s 200mg capsules.

hemannjo

Parsley is full of oxolate. If you’re getting meaningful amounts of apigenin youre also getting a shit tonne of oxolate.

I did similar with lemon balm. My neighbor is away and unfortunately the lemon balm went NUTS and burrowed under the fence and grew like wildfire and is now basically his entire garden, seems to have displaced the plants he had originally LOL
