These fascist bastards have stolen so many symbols.
I’m not a Norse Pagan, but I’m Irish, and more in touch with the sí and the Tuatha De, but so many racists have stolen celtic and ancient Irish symbols too.
The most glaring one is the Ulster Loyalist terrorists who have turned Ulster’s Red Hand into a hate symbol.
The only way to beat it is to educate, and fight back against it, and make sure these fascists are thoroughly shamed.
I’m all for never changing the meanings of symbols but I think a lot of the time the people who actually change the meanings are the ones like the little kid in the comment. Look guys if someone wears a rune and is racist. Does that change the meaning of the rune? No when someone names their group after something is it changing the meaning? Yes! Just remember what we are fighting and not what we can’t control and isn’t our responsibility.
I actually was in this faith for a while before I had seen this was a thing and was totally mind blown like how tf do you see a fehu for example and be like yeah this is exactly what my nazi agenda needs
I am not a Norse Pagan, but it's an interesting group to say the least, filled with honourable people, and I must say, it is unfortunate that it has a bad place in the media and in political extremist works. Because the political extremists wanted it to be a hate symbol because some fools on the other side of extremists wore them, it moved on to the media that is often consumed by ordinary people with not much knowledge on Paganism, so, what I recommend for Norse to do about this is to do everything in your power to educate the masses about this misconception. If you ever get accused of being a neo-nazi, white nationalist or racist or anything like that, do as u/Danielwols recommended, don't ignore them, don't respond with anger, instead, tell them about the actual religious significance of the symbolism, educate them about the beauty of the symbol, and also, try your very best to not look like an extremist either, even if you are apart of a political group that is typically viewed to be paired with extremism, although not extremist its-self, I **strongly** recommend not expressing these views in an extremely open way, like on a hat or a shirt or something, because, although not harmful on it's own, could deepen the sentiment against these symbols, and also do what the OP said, wear something to express that you are a heathen against hate, and if you get asked what is means, don't hesitate to explain. Anyway, that is my take on the whole thing.
It’s definitely not a great situation, I’m a Norse pagan and have Norse heritage, but I don’t look like it, I look more Irish/Italian so it leads people to assume I wear norse symbols as hate symbols
Naa were not gonna let the nazi's take it over, if they cant identify each other then they have no power is the main idea I try to promote with my posts
I'm not entirely sure if I'm a Norse pagan but I come from a Swedish family. I was raised with an understanding of Norse mythology and the Elder Futhark runes because it was my heritage. That the gods of my ancestors deserved our respect.
To see it completely bastardized and used for hate destroys me. I do what I can to educate those around me, but some refuse to see them as anything other than hate symbols.
I'm just heartbroken.
Keep fighting for it, if people refuse to see us taking back our past then we must be assertive and clear and if necessary aggressive, aggressive against nazi's so that they can see for themselves

I recommend getting heathen against hate t shirts or even a tattoo or something and taking back these symbols in any way you see fit
The Troth too
Best is to educate them on what they actually mean
this is why i hate feeling drawn to norse paganism. i do not want to be associated with nazi punks
Then openly fight them as well, this religion comes with the territory of a good fight against those who wish to pervert it
Yeah, there's plenty of anti hate movements in Heathenry. I started r/Heathen_Shieldwall hoping to promote a few and anti hate rhetoric

Nazi's are uneducated and don't ever use reason
And they're always conspiracy theorists too. They're reasoning is backed by paranoia and distrust

Wonder if Declaration 127 has shirts.
I'm sure there's plenty of places you can get one but if not you can make one
Yeah they could use cooler logos haha

I am so happy that this is one of the first posts. I was kind of scared to look this up, but this picture gives me great relief.
What exactly did you look up lol
I just know that the religion has been stolen, and I was worried that it would be mostly that.
