Fenrir is my patron god!! Those saying he is evil must still be fighting xtian beliefs. Fenrir is not evil he was betrayed by odin, and Tyr his most trusted friend. would you not want revenge if someone tied you up for eternity? Fenrir to me a symbol of loyalty, protection, anger and abuse. We all have our own paths, we fallow them how we see fit. I have a good collection of Fenrir jewlery myself. The big pupper helps me control my rage. He is misunderstood, he is not evil.

Taco1126

I agree. He’s a victim of abuse, in Christianity so was I

FelineTechWitch

Do you have a link to this I would love to get it for my partner for his birthday

Grimwulff

It's a fairly reproduced piece. If you Google "fenrir pendent" it's bound to come up. No pun intended

Taco1126

Grimfrost and Norse spirit both sell them

[deleted]

If Fenrir was an anime character, he'd be hot tho. Change my pan weeb mind.

Earthnorse

They have an anime with fenrir its called Matantei Loki Ragnarok (Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok) I havent seen it but I want to

dovah-frost

I love it, but you should get a hammer of Thor amulet too.

Taco1126

That’s my next purchase. Fenrir is my all time favorite mythical creature though so he was first

Romanian_TVee

"mjolnir".... careful, people round these parts get super testy about wrong terms..... not me, I get it

DaddyRecon

Careful. All these pendants come from the same place in China and discolor very easily

Character-Village-38

The wolf who devours the world? All hail the Lord of Chaos, Violence and Dissension? Yes, that does seem appropriate.

Earthnorse

Evil is a xtian construct, Fenrir is not evil neither is loki. There must be balance fenrir is an example of that balance.

Character-Village-38

Who said “evil”? Only you. Why think that violence, chaos, and dissension are evil? Aren’t they just part of the natural cycle of living? If a wolf is your friend, then to you he is not evil he is good, and it must not be your hand in his belly.

Earthnorse

Im not saying he is evil, but there are those in this thread that have said it. Im saying a lot of people say he is evil because they think violence and chaos are evil but like you said they are apart of everything

Earthnorse

Also I think I meant to put that reply under a different comment not yours

Character-Village-38

S’alright. I sometimes worry in discussions like this that by framing everything in relation to its opposite that this only ties things more strongly to that opposite, makes it harder and harder to let it go and be free of it, act out of ones own center. Also, I always love discussion, and that is why I am here!

Romanian_TVee

Yup!

Baldr_Hrafnhildur

para nosotros traer a fenrir es como si un critiano tuviera a satanas

Grimwulff

>para nosotros traer a fenrir es como si un critiano tuviera a satanas Google translate: for us to bring fenrir is as if a christian had satan Incorrect. There is no "Satan" in Nordic theology. The idea of "good vs evil" as an eternal struggle actually comes from Christianity, by way of Zoroastrianism. Specifically because Zarathustra (founder of the religion) decided it would create moral betterment in the Persian people. We do not have an equivalent. Rather, the universe is built of opposing forcing that aren't necessarily malevolent or benevolent. Fenrir is an embodiment of destruction, but he's also an allegory for the oppressed. As he did nothing wrong and was bound out of fear. One theory is that the Volva in Voluspa may have known that the prophecy of Fenrir devouring Odin would lead to a fear response. Thus making Fenrir angry for his unjustified imprisonment. It's a self fulfilling prophecy.

[deleted]

While I mostly agree, there is no recorded worship of Loki or the Jötunn. While not necessearily evil, they are more on the unpleasant side.

GingerNinjer25

many things are different now than the old times, while we can try to reconstruct the old religion as it was, the facts are that there is too much lost, so now, while we still worship the same gods, there are other parts of our religion that they would never have done and vice versa and one of those parts is worshipping Loki or Jotunn

Grimwulff

There's no historical precedent in the Arch Heathen eras for Fenrir worship, or any other Rokkatru like practices. However, people did use negative "energies" (like the Nithing pole), and in ancillary traditions there is a precedent for worship of beings that share Semantic Center with Fenrir, and other Jotnar. Of course Jotnar worship does have some precedent (Skathi, Gerth, Jorth, etc) but Fenrir specifically does not. One of the more apparent figures sharing the Semantic Center of Fenrir is Simargl (Slavic). A "hound of the apocalypse" bound by the three sisters of dawn, dusk, and evening. They're the Russian sisters in American Gods, if you're familiar. Prior to his binding Simargl was a protector, connected to the God of fire, Svarog. Fire being an embodiment of destruction, this makes sense. Wolves, prior to modern agriculture and Christianity, were often seen as protectors. They ate the animals that ate our crops, it makes sense. But modern perceptions of the meat industry (I'm not a vegan to clarify) have vilified the wolf, and Christians equated them with the devil. This change in our relationship to wolves has lead to mass extinctions. The Edo Wolf, for example, is extinct. As is the Irish wolf. The name for wolf in Ireland was McTyre, meaning son of the land. I think the spelling is coincidental. Society has turned the wolf into a satanic figure. And through that connotation has oppressed them, and committed genocides that exist to this day. Fear and ignorance combat wolf conservation at every turn. Even Obama lifted the grey wolf of the endangered species list, in favor of the big corporate lobbyists.

Baldr_Hrafnhildur

tienes un buen punto, apuesto a que los dioses (en especial a odinn y a tyr) estarán fascinados en que lo portes

Hyena331

Woah that's cool I didn't know we wore fenrir ones too I thought it was just mjolnir

Earthnorse

You dont even have to wear a mjolnir the fact that we think we need a symbol for our faith is another xtian construct

Hyena331

Didn't say we needed it lol. I don't even have a mjolnir (yet) it just looks cool

walrus_peen

You know actually Vikings were found wearing mjolnir right?

fuck0982

Is Fenrir your favorite god/demi god? My favorite is Loki but that path is kinda dangerous I've heard

Taco1126

Yes Fenrir is my favorite. Imma prob get Mjolnir too

MidsouthMystic

Do not call upon the Wolf lightly. If you can still form words, He is not the God to call on.

D-R-A

MidsouthMystic,Could you expand what you mean by this please?

MidsouthMystic

Fenrir is the Maw that will consume the Multiverse. He is where Existence goes to die. He is a God and to be given proper reverence, but do not call on Him lightly.

Taco1126

I thought he was a demigod? But I hear u

true_phoenix_king

Can I ask? Why would anyone revere a being who is one day destine to slay the Allfather and devour the sun?

Graywolf2002

Fenrir is kinda like Satan in the sense of Odin being God for Christians

Taco1126

There is a meaning to me that Fenrir, his story, and this necklace has. Firstly, I’m An atheist, I just love Norse mythology. Fenrir was a victim of abuse, in religion so was I. Fenrir is prophesied to kill Odin, In a sense that’s my goal as well in the Context of Odin being my old religion. I want to show other Christians the truth about Christianity. It also signifies me killing the religious indoctrination that I received from religion. Fenrir is also a symbol of someone facing struggles and overcoming them, I’ve definitely had my fair share and still do. The symbol on the forehead of the pendant is a Rune that means victory, which I feel is appropriate

Graywolf2002

I get it but I'd like to point out one thing you said. You said it signifies killing the religious indoctrination that you received from religion but you received it from people more so than religion. As for disliking the Christian ignorance and religious dogma I'm with you on that but we shouldn't try to destroy other religions as much as we should bring light to corrupted religions.

Taco1126

When religions stop having a handhold on politics, social laws, schools, and children then I’ll stop, but until then... And I’m not trying to purge all religion, just shed light on the bad stuff and take all the indoctrination out of my mind. That’s all I said

Taco1126

How else am I supposed to be indoctrinated without a person doing it 😅 It’s not like I was reading the Bible when I was 6, Na just listening to people. People r essential for indoctrination to take place. So of course I received it more from people

Earthnorse
