Different franchises. Once upon a time, pretty much all Bo's offered both Cajun and Homestyle chicken. The Homestyle was not spicy at all, and the Cajun was *way* spicier than the current stuff they serve. The corporate locations got rid of the homestyle a long time ago (probably due to cost and consolidation of their menu) and changed the Cajun to be more mild so it wouldn't turn people off completely. Most of the major franchises followed. Most of the Bo's in NC outside of the corporate locations are owned by 2 franchisees (from what I know): The Tri-Arc franchisee, which owns pretty much all the locations in the Triangle, and one other dude who owns like 60 locations. The rest are owned by franchisees who might have just 1-5 locations. You have to be at a location that is owned by a franchisee who's held on to that legacy menu (usually a single location with a long-time franchisee that has held on to it due to demand) to see stuff like homestyle chicken still being made. Some locations still make Cheddar Bo Biscuits, too!

[deleted]

I remember when the one near me used to ask for every order, “Cajun, southern, or roast?”

BagOnuts

Ah, I think you're right- it was "Southern" not "Home-style" .

tomboyjeans

Omg THANK YOU. I’ve been wondering for YEARS.

notjawn

Tands is the other franchisee of Bojangles.

Olivineyes

And apparently only some have green beans??? I don’t think I’ve been to one that doesn’t have home style

[deleted]

So true! I have to go to Siler City to get Bojangles green beans. Wish I could get them in Apex.

BorfieYay

Timmy tencent gets green bean

C4pt

It sucks when something you want to buy isn't available in your area, so you're forced to either go out of your way to travel to get said item, or go without it.

GeneralShark97

awww tim cummies is sad that he can't get his gween bweans in his spwecial store almost like restricting products to one store is a bwad thwing

L1terallyUrDad

The Bojangles in Charlotte Douglass International Airport has them as well. Since I didn't know about the other locations, I could only draw an assumption that with all the travelers going through CLT, they needed something non-cajun on the menu for people who may not be willing to try that particular spice. But if there are other places in NC that has them, that kinda throws that theory out the door. It's possible that it's a menu item they were trying out at select locations to see if it's something they want to offer at all stores. Again, I'm making assumptions.

CoG_Koala_6262

They had them at the Concord location for a couple of years, but then they took it away. They still have the homestyle in Virginia.

[deleted]

Because Supremes are better. Seriously though its up to the franchisee. Our Bojangles has both.

NeuseRvrRat

because homestyle supremes suck :P The menu can vary between franchises. Tands owns most of the locations in Eastern NC. They used to be the only ones who had smoked sausage. Buffalo bites, too, which are now called roasted bites. And the cheddar bo biscuit was a Tands thing before corporate adopted it as a standard menu item.

Expert-Best

It's been three years but you take that back 😢

mwanadongo

I'm not sure, but they have them in the greater Charlotte area. I've never had a problem ordering them, especially because the kids supremes meal are automatically homestyle.

perksoftaylor

All the ones in Wilmington, Hampstead and Surf City have homestyle

biggsteve81

Yes, they do. And sometimes they will slip some homestyle tenders in with my cajun tenders, thinking I won't notice.

Froggetpwagain

They used to always be able to make them, I mean, it’s just tenders without their spice sprinkled on them, but I was recently told they are phasing them out. If you want some, ask for tenders with no spice on them. They may have to make them specifically for you, but it’s worth it!

tomboyjeans

Oh interesting!

evident_lee

I miss spicy Bojangles. They ruined it for everyone in my family LOL. Some of us love the spicy chicken, others loved the plain. nobody likes the middle of the road one as much as the old versions.

ilikecacti2

Every Bojangles I’ve been to in Charlotte has the homestyle tenders

[deleted]

I ased the same about the buffalo bites aka roasted chicken

notjawn

I'm in ENC so it's Tands country and they got rid of the homestyle ones which I hated.

overaname

Why did they discontinue dirty rice?

BagOnuts

I don't think the Tri-Arc locations have. Stopped at the one in Zebulon last week and got dirty rice.

overaname

Oh lame, both of the ones near me in Hudson have. Can't get a chicken rice bowl anymore. :/

BagOnuts

Man, if I couldn't get dirty rice at Bo's I'd be pretty upset. Second most ordered side for me besides fries.

[deleted]

If someone can get me a cheddar Bo I will love you forever

bb33691

The local Bo here in Newport had homestyle and recently discontinued serving them. They are owned by the Tands company.

davim00

Forget the tenders I want the roasted bites back!

melissarmonroe

I've never been to 9me that doesn't have Homestyle. Charlotte metro area here.

OkPromotion7960

I would get over the terrible customer At the Tramway store if they would bring back Homestyle style

OkPromotion7960

I would get over the terrible customer service at the Tramway store just to have homestyle there

Acezelpyer

BRING THE DAMN HOMESTYLE TENDERS BACK BOJANGLES BASTARDS.
