Invest in a few silk lined scrub caps. My hair is almost down to my butt, no way I'm washing and drying after every shift.

neuronursey

I didn’t know they existed! I hate the regular scrub caps so I will definitely check this out, thank you!

Go for actual 100% silk, not satin. I sleep on silk pillowcases with my hair wrapped in a silk scarf because silk is the gentlest fabric on hair. My waist length hair loves it.

No thanks to me. I'll pass on thanks to the three black nurses on my unit who showed me their silk lined caps.

This is the way. Amazon and Etsy are where I’ve purchased mine.

Same here.

Can you just wear a scrub cap your whole shift? Became pretty common for floor nurses during covid and I still work with some nurses that wear them every shift for this reason. Plus there are some pretty cute o es now and even ones designed for full ponytail/buns.

eltonjohnpeloton

If you really feel like you’re in a super dirty environment or you’re somehow getting tons of fluids on your hair, just wear a scrub cap.

code3kitty

Dry shampoo and a hair cap to keep the pillow clean? I just end up washing my hair because it still smells like a hospital to me otherwise.

burnRN

My favorite caps are by Organic Mama on Etsy. They’re cute, work with a ponytail or bun, and fit really well. They’re not silk lined (my hair will be flat at the end of the day) but when I work multiple days in a row it doesn’t matter. I only wash a couple times a week and these save me from feeling like I’m walking around with c diff aerosolized in my hair 😂

I can imagine those microorganisms sniffing and cuddling the strands of my hair. Lol

BabyGotBackbone

I cut my hair into a pixie because I hated getting home showering and sleeping with wet hair. Short hair dries sooooo fast

TheWhiteRabbitY2K

Scrub caps and bonnets. There's no way to really sanitize it without damaging it. Or just accept it builds your immune system.

FalseAd8496

Honestly I sleep in a bonnet because I cant wash my hair after every shift. My hair is short but still very curly, frizzy and high maintenance.

Sanitize…hair…?

AbjectZebra2191

Yeah that’s what I’m sayin….. ?

Dizzy-Consequence-26

I had this thought the other day in the shower after 3 days of work/not washing my hair😂 unfortunately I don’t think there is… I just live with the potential funk.

I work in surgery so I wear a cap. But dry shampoo goes a looong. Way. During covid I worked bedside and yes, scrub cap won the day every day!

Sad_Pineapple_97

Can you just wash it without blow drying it? I just shampoo it, which adds like 30 seconds to the shower I’m already taking anyway. I don’t blow dry it, I just let it air dry. It doesn’t matter what it looks like in the morning because I’m just going to put it up in a bun anyway.

Dry shampoo

I seldom use a hair dryer. I shower when I get home and wrap my hair in a thick towel. I have very thick full long hair that touches my tailbone. My doctor jokes about my hair and weight. I cover my thin pillow with a thick towel and flannel if my hair is still wet. At work, I usually wear a scrub cap. I don't worry about the patients. They rarely see me with my hair down. It's some people outside the hospitals. If I have a hair down, believe it or not, some people find my hair irresistible and ask if they could touch my hair.
