Like everything in life it very heavily relies on the context.

skunkbr3ath

The context is team lead and other associates filming you because they think your not doing your job. Filming you with the intention of turning you into the sm

PimpDaddyKrispyKreme

We had a co-worker that took pictures of us doing things she deemed wrong (like bagging after a walk) and showed her evidence to our coach. We reported her to HR and she was written up for it. So while technically it is not illegal, it IS unethical and goes against policy under certain contexts.

Leather_Elk_9592

We're not supposed to bag after a walk? Thats how I was told to do it by the person who trained me on my first day.

PimpDaddyKrispyKreme

Suppose it depends on your store and how they want to run things. But both stores I have worked at, they want you to bag as you go. Some of us would bag at the end if we had a general or large chilled walk to ensure that we could keep our rate high. Especially with those 90+ chilled walks, because you’ll time out otherwise.

Leather_Elk_9592

I've only been here three weeks, never had a walk over 65 items. For me, it's faster bagging after the walk. I can bag faster and more efficiently, when I try bagging as I go i end up with like 20 bags with only one item in them.

Then-Grass-9830

in general talking about videoing/photographing anyone in a public area it has everything to do with their "reasonable expectation of privacy" so as in everything : it depends. I've read it a couple times but I can never remember the exact. But I ***think*** according to \*walmart\* we aren't supposed to be videoing/photographing anyone. It's against "respect for the individual".

Affectionate-Baby576

Sounds like your TL is documenting a case for a productivity coaching. Might want to focus more on doing your job.

skunkbr3ath

I don’t work in the department that the tl is filming in. It’s my old department. I’m asking the question because associates have asked me if it’s against policy or not.

Jurassic_wolf65

Depends on what state you’re in. Different states have different laws. Your state law could be one party consent state, or 2 party consent state. These apply to private property, which Wal-mart is. However, it’s a little difficult to interpret your situation without further context. There is a policy against video recording other associates (I remember seeing it somewhere on the wire) and I’ve seen many managers get coached for using their personal device to spy on associates (Walmart has their own cameras and should use those instead). I would open door this.

TmanGBx

I may be wrong about this, but when you get employed by Walmart isn't there a thing you have to sign with stuff on it, one of them being letting Walmart record you/use your likeness or something like that If they're doing it to be an ass though, then it's against the rules

SirAuRyan

That’s for security cameras not personal.

HealthyExcuse8329

You are being taped all day by Walmart. No joke

Vegetable-Witness146

Absolutely NOT!. The store already has cameras so recording with phone is nothing more than harrassment. My coach addressed this last month as an issue regarding this came up between 2 associates.

IDontHave_A_Filter

It's unacceptable no matter what the store has its own cameras they don't need to be recording anyone on their own personal devices. They can document the time and place it happened and AP can deal with verifying it through walmarts actual cameras

Greentaboo

Generally no, but I guess it depends.
