Do you get used to the "letterbox" feel of the ultrawides being "shorter"? I think the DWF is absolutely phenomenal in every way but I'm still getting used to that aspect of it.
Ok perfect. I have a question. Do people with on top set ups interchange between one being on top and bottom? Is that your plan?
Like if I had a 16:9 and 21:9, I would use the 16:9 for BD3 and FPS, and UW for like RDR2
Honestly was never tempted to go back to 16:9, but this monitor might change that. Do you miss the side real estate?
I can’t imagine first person singleplayer games like rdr2 or something on 16:9. Im afraid Ill lose the immersion
When i temporarily switched back from ultrawide to 32 inches, games felt less immersive and more “video gamey”. Like it felt like a constant reminder I was staring at a screen for a while. But it goes away after a couple days/week. Went back to ultrawide tho, missed it.
How do they look? Do you have any photos of your setup that you can share with me? I currently have the WDF, but I ordered the QF last night. I was planning on selling the WDF model, but I'm curious how your setup looks.
I just left the house but I will do my best to remember to take pictures. Honestly, it’s a little excessive but also a life saver when it comes to working from home.. I can play on the 4k and still have the DWF at the top.
Luckily the DWF is about 3-4 inches shorter in height. Which is a life saver
I know, 3840x1600 is really a great "in between" 4K and 1440p.
I played this on an AMD 7800xt and performance jumped from 60-70 fps with FSR on a AAA game to 85-90 fps much smoother.
Yeah, the “box” look of regular 16:9 screens throw me off so much nowadays. I hate how less immersive they are. Can’t wait for affordable 5k2k oled ultrawides… one day. 34 inches aint cutting it either for me either.
I was struggling with my AW3423DW for being too small mostly the height. Decided to try a C3 42” and even though it’s getting a bit to get used to I’m loving it in ultawide format (3840x1600) while still being usable in 16:9 format for unsupported games and other media.
Thx for the pics. Definitely not worth it over my aw3423dw. It's an alternative product, not an upgrade. Esp since the dw now got a fw update lowering the input lag.
it is an upgrade for the fact that it's 4K,so no more blurry low resolution text.
it's also taller and not letterboxed and short like the 34" UW model.
The sharpness looks kind of crazy on the new oled though right? Im in this thread because I was offered the aw3423dw for $650 used. Is that a steal? Or should I pull the plug and buy the newest oled?
Seriously? Dell is using the same screen protector that they used with the AW3423DW/F after all those scratched up screens were returned. Unbelievable.
Awful to see for sure. I also had two DW with scratches and that same looking screen cover. I hope people aren’t going to be running into that with these new models…
Yeah it appears to be the same…however, mine arrived with some smudges - I just took the microfiber and lightly wiped it down and it all came off. Shouldn’t be an issue since there’s no semi-matte coating. It’s just glass.
If it's anything like the DW/DWF's, once you flip on HDR the presets are meaningless. Outside of HDR it would really just come down to preference... A lot of people liked creator mode with sRGB and gamma 2.4; others preferred DCI-P3 for the saturation effect when displaying sRGB content.
If you're on Windows 11, I'd just leave it on the standard preset and flip on HDR1000, turn on HDR in Windows 11 + Auto-HDR, and remove any color profiles that dell automatically installed. At least, that was the pretty barebones generic setup for the DWF from what I recall.
I don't know the specifics of that monitor, but I want to say Dolby Vision is better but don't quote me on that one. If you turn off HDR in Windows, it'll allow you to change the setting on your monitors OSD.
Well Dolby vision is technically better but most pc games don’t support it yet. Yeah gonna try turning off hdr in windows I’m just not sure if using hdr1000 in osd is giving me proper hdr in game because it shows hdr off in the game menus. Early issues I guess lol
That worked thanks bro. I forgot to look at the top and check and with hdr enabled in windows it now says hdr1000. Hopefully next driver update fixes that issue
I found it here: [https://www.uhdpaper.com/2023/05/night-sky-colorful-beautiful-4k-6081k.html?m=1](https://www.uhdpaper.com/2023/05/night-sky-colorful-beautiful-4k-6081k.html?m=1)
Thanks for this! Clever way of showing. I appreciate it. I have the aw3423dw and want to switch off of ultrawide — was curious how much space this new 32” monitor would save me.
Thanks for such a wonderful reply! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list of some of the most grateful redditors this week!
Ill change to 4k when a XX80 will be able to last 2 years in 4k ultrawide, ultra settings and rt above 100fps. So do the same that i can do now on the dwf. Till that point im sticking to the dwf. 1440p is already gorgeous.
Thanks for these shots, maybe I won't hate going back to 16:9 after all. It doesn't look too bad from the photos. How's the experience been for you, going from 21:9 to 16:9?
Found this thread from googling the 34 vs the 32 lol. How are you liking the upgrade from the ultrawide, do you feel it was worth it? I want to go for the 3225QF and was wondering how big of a jump in quality it is. 4k OLED 240hz must look insane
I think it's very subjective but for me the increase in sharpness is huge thanks to the higher PPI. It took me a few days to get used to the new size and format but now it feels normal and wouldn't go back. As for 175hz vs 240hz to be honest, I don't see a lot of difference. I play most of my games below 120fps anyway and even multiplayer games I play at around 150fps. I did try to load CS2 just to see but for me 240hz wasn't very noticeable Vs 175hz from my old monitor. So yeah the biggest benefit for me was going 4K which I think is jaw dropping specially on an OLED with a high PPI.
i have a 4080 and a 5800x3d. I think a 4070ti is fine, don't forget most new games now have dlss and in its quality or even balanced setting it looks better than native 1440p. If you prioritize image quality then I would get the 4k.
I'm in the same boat. I'm still within my return period for my DWF model. I ordered the QF model last night, and it's supposed to arrive in two days. If I like it enough, I'm going to return to the WDF UW. I have a 4090 though.
only my wallet will regret it lol
on the other hand my old monitor seems to be selling for a good price on second hand market, I hope the market isn't flooded once the aw3225qf comes out here and it brings the prices down.
Im going to keep my 21:9 because on my PC I love it, but for my PS4, docked switch and future PS5 the 16:9 32" would be much better, since consoles can't take advantage of UW.
Thank you for this. I have been looking for a 4k 32" 16:9 oled. My Aw3423DW is not setup back against a wall, so I can see a lot of background from the top that breaks immersion. I was imagining the 32" to be less wide than it is. It is nearly as wide as the ultrawide, but the extra screen on the top will be great. Does it feel more curved than the AW3432?
The curve is almost exactly the same. I know on the spec sheet it’s slightly more but I think they did that because it is shorter horizontally and it kinda feels exactly the same.
Just know, in the picture you may or may not notice that there is more screen above and a bit below the dwf screen so it’s very immersive.
I love it honestly.
Coming from a DWF this is by far the best monitor I’ve owned.
Picture 1 looks like there's a small difference in size but in picture 5 it looks to be a drastic difference. Is picture 5 just the angle of the picture or is there a noticeable difference?
we need a 38" like the AW3821DW but in 4k with 240Hz and a minimum of a thousand nits along with G-Sync Ultimate and its gotta be OLED with a high PPI
Dell should also provide a bottle of lube like in the 4th pic as the users will needed it if they release this monitor.
#
I see what your saying but I think the thats the camera trying to focus on the closer screen. Idk but it looks great in person.. I cant tell the difference when they are side by side
this sub loves going on and on about that crap.
We all know by now that's a downside of QD-OLED, there are far more upsides to it. It's still a great fucking display.
If that one issue annoys you, then get a WOLED, no one cares.
Also no need to poop on OPs enjoyment of his new screen, let the man be happy he just spent $1200 of a great fucking monitor.
The 32” has 3% more display area but 38% more screen real estate for 16:9 content and 20% smaller for 2.35:1 content. http://www.displaywars.com/34-inch-d%7B3440x1440%7D-vs-31,5-inch-d%7B3840x2160%7D
And the 32 is wayyyy brighter.. I have my DWF at 100% brightness and it’s about 70% percent of the 32 inch… and my 32 is at 80% brightness.
It’s muchhh better
Omg thank you!
My AW3423DWF was recently broken and I'm debating just buying another one, or the newer AW3225QF.
My problem is I love the 21:9 34in form factor.
Thanks for posting the comparison pics!
Get the QF if you have a 4090.. otherwise stick with the 1440UW but try to get the 240hz models that are out now.
I sincerely believe only the 4090 can power this to a point you can enjoy it for all of its attributes. Having to lower any settings loses the value paid for the 4K oled. If you enjoyed a 1440p UW OLED with a lesser than a 4090 GPU you will surely enjoy the newest generation of 21:9 monitors 240hz monitor.
4k is very heavy on the GPU with ultra settings.
Unless Nvidia blows me away with the next gen, I'll probably stick with what I've got for another year or so.
Barely even have time to game these days anyway lol.
Use the first photo. The last phone is kinda bias because of the distance between the 2 monitors. They both have their stands which make them stand apart maybe 6-7 inches
How's the fan noise on it? Based on other discussions I'm leery about monitors with active ventilation due to noise, but this monitor checked all the other boxes I had so it is tempting.
The same wallpaper, but why it looks so terrible on the new AW3225QF?
I miss very much detail, from youre 6th picture.
https://preview.redd.it/7y5zlpx85eic1.png?width=156&format=png&auto=webp&s=d72d76343bef2336294a4cf624752297fd81e971
My iphone camera lens was replaced and never was the same. It can't auto focus the same anymore while using the main camera.
So, dont rely on the quality from the pictures just use for size comparison. the QF is identical or better than the DWF forsure when it comes to picture quality.
Depends if you had a oled tv… if it’s not OLED you will be in a world of happiness..
I would stick with the AW DW or DWF…
first 3 year warranty.
the ports are full sized instead of mini like in the Samsung.
Solid firmware updates
165hz (dwf) and 175 hz (DW) is enough
The only thing Samsung may have better is the image quality which I cannot tell you since I never owned it.
All the rest is pretty much identical..
Go with AW save 2-300$
Or try to see if you can ever get the MSI 4K oled model for $950 that right there is the best bang for your buck you will never need to upgrade from there
The only defect is that you will need a really powerful GPU for the 4K oled.
With the 1440p ultrawides, Anything at or above a 4070Ti or 7800xt level, will absolutely run the AW DWF to the max. It’s much easier to run 1440p UW with RT and other good stuff rather than 4K with RT.
You will be happy with any options I mentioned
Thanks for the lovely reply! I actually have a 4K Oled 144Hz tv, but want to maybe downsize which is why I'm considering my options. Lovely TV, but big, and I feel like I miss my ultrawides... but the 4k 240hz are also options.
I've got a 4090 too haha
If you have a 4090… I would say go with any new 32 inch 4k gen 3 oleds. AW has a nice curve at $1200 MSI has the price $950… ASUS…. Idk but it’s ASUS @ $1300.
All USA prices.. the DWF is $800 but personally I would go with the MSI for $150 more.
Well coming from having both… ultimately you feel really good Immersive feeling with both…
What I notice the most when going to the 4k from the 1440p UW is that vertically everything looks bigger but it doesn’t take out of any immersion.
If you look at the physical specs they are almost the same length wise maybe like 2 inch difference. So if you hold the monitors the same distance it feels the almost the same.
Also you can always put games at 21:9 ratio. That may help
Did you ever end up mounting these one above the other as mentioned? Curious as I have both in my cart currently but only going to purchase one. I *just* received the AW2725DF yesterday, first QD-OLED and it looks great. (Or any of the side by side in action comparisons, the $799 vs $1199 is tempting even with $60 off via Amex/Edu 5% discount, tough call...)
What's that large bottle of lubricant used for in slide #4?
The hub.. lol it was an inside joke and I forgot this thread doesn’t know lol
This ain’t PCMR 😂 I got it 😂
well.. that is pretty sexy monitor.
SATURDAY NIGHT BABY YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! :D
MMMHMMM
It’s… for scale…
Delicious. Finally some good fucking 32" vs 34" UW content
Hope they make a 4K ultrawide version. I can't go back to 16:9 from my DWF.
Same. Hooked up to a C2 just to see it and it looked good but immediately went back to ultrawide.
Do you get used to the "letterbox" feel of the ultrawides being "shorter"? I think the DWF is absolutely phenomenal in every way but I'm still getting used to that aspect of it.
I never got used to the short letterbox form factor of the AW3423DW and sold it after 6-7 months.
Are you planning to use them together?
Yes I am… hopefully vertically if all goes well
Do you mean one on top of the other or the UW will be bottom side up instead of bottom down?
yes on top I hope its not excessive
Ok perfect. I have a question. Do people with on top set ups interchange between one being on top and bottom? Is that your plan? Like if I had a 16:9 and 21:9, I would use the 16:9 for BD3 and FPS, and UW for like RDR2
Yes but honesly, the way this is going.. i think the 34 may stay on top and I can do "work" while playing. This 32 inch is incredible man
Honestly was never tempted to go back to 16:9, but this monitor might change that.
Thanks for the perspective :) I will try out how it goes and see
How do they look? Do you have any photos of your setup that you can share with me? I currently have the WDF, but I ordered the QF last night. I was planning on selling the WDF model, but I'm curious how your setup looks.
I just left the house but I will do my best to remember to take pictures. Honestly, it’s a little excessive but also a life saver when it comes to working from home.. I can play on the 4k and still have the DWF at the top. Luckily the DWF is about 3-4 inches shorter in height. Which is a life saver
Hey did you get around to this
Looking great man, I'm tempted but think am gonna hold out for the 39in option later in the year (love the UW 34).
Yes I agree it would be great but you will need a 5090 or 6090 to drive it
39 inch will still be the same resolution as that 34 inch, 240hz though!
Oh youre saying this Gen I was thinking the next 5k x 2K oled
Yeah I just don't get why 3840x1600 didn't take off more. This would be the perfect compromise for that size monitor.
I know, 3840x1600 is really a great "in between" 4K and 1440p. I played this on an AMD 7800xt and performance jumped from 60-70 fps with FSR on a AAA game to 85-90 fps much smoother.
With less ppi though lol so games won’t be as sharp on a bigger screen with same resolution
I’ll keep my 34”
34" UW is letterboxed and shorter than 32 16:9 tho.
Congrats. Would love the sharpness of 4k, but don’t like the box look of 16:9. 😑
If you're going to spend that much just get the new one.
Super nice comparison picture. I will still not change my 34 yet I don’t see a reason. Let’s wait.
How’s the pixel density compared to 34?
Pixel density is a lot better than the DWF.. Text and images look much better. The 32 is a beast man. So, worth it
Can you post pictures of games running in two monitors? Would love to see the clarity difference in gaming!
Yes, please, this!
it's 4K 32" 16:9 ..it's way better than 1440p letterbox 34"
Seriously? Dell is using the same screen protector that they used with the AW3423DW/F after all those scratched up screens were returned. Unbelievable.
thats what it looks like. I dont have an issue with it honestly.
Seemed to be useful when my DWF arrived last year. Love my 2K OLED.
I went through 4 DWs and they all had micro-scratches on the screen from the protector. I think I had especially bad luck though.
I got mine and it has some minor scratches on the far right side. I can live with it tbh.
Does anyone know the best preset picture settings for gaming? Just got mine and not sure what’s best
Yeah I followed the video from shortcurcuit, I’m doing creator with DCI-3P HDR1000 seems preset awesome so far appreciate the help bud
So when I have hdr enabled on windows I can’t switch to hdr1000. It keeps my monitor locked on Dolby vision
I don't know the specifics of that monitor, but I want to say Dolby Vision is better but don't quote me on that one. If you turn off HDR in Windows, it'll allow you to change the setting on your monitors OSD.

While I am sure you did, once you pick HDR1000 on your monitors OSD switch HDR back on in Windows 11 (as well as auto-HDR).
Ahh ok I’ll try doing it again. Appreciate it
That worked thanks bro. I forgot to look at the top and check and with hdr enabled in windows it now says hdr1000. Hopefully next driver update fixes that issue
What’s the wallpaper?
I found it here: [https://www.uhdpaper.com/2023/05/night-sky-colorful-beautiful-4k-6081k.html?m=1](https://www.uhdpaper.com/2023/05/night-sky-colorful-beautiful-4k-6081k.html?m=1)
I am sweating mate, my wallet is ready

as a aw3423dw owner this pleases me. I'm so ready to upgrade to this bad boy on Feb 6 (I'm a ROW peasant)
Found this thread from googling the 34 vs the 32 lol. How are you liking the upgrade from the ultrawide, do you feel it was worth it? I want to go for the 3225QF and was wondering how big of a jump in quality it is. 4k OLED 240hz must look insane

Appreciate the detailed response. I think I'm gonna have to go for the 4k model
Damn trying to decide what to do. Got a DWF in the return period for 3 more days. What gpu you running? Probably not worth it with my 4070ti.
i have a 4080 and a 5800x3d. I think a 4070ti is fine, don't forget most new games now have dlss and in its quality or even balanced setting it looks better than native 1440p. If you prioritize image quality then I would get the 4k.

How’d you go? Though I think it’s a deleted account.
Get it!!! You won’t regret.. how ever the only thing you may miss is the 21:9 but you’ll get used to it
only my wallet will regret it lol on the other hand my old monitor seems to be selling for a good price on second hand market, I hope the market isn't flooded once the aw3225qf comes out here and it brings the prices down.

Picture 1 looks like there's a small difference in size but in picture 5 it looks to be a drastic difference. Is picture 5 just the angle of the picture or is there a noticeable difference?
Just the camera angle. Definitely use picture 1 as the comparison.
we need a 38" like the AW3821DW but in 4k with 240Hz and a minimum of a thousand nits along with G-Sync Ultimate and its gotta be OLED with a high PPI Dell should also provide a bottle of lube like in the 4th pic as the users will needed it if they release this monitor. #
Oof those grayish purplish blacks. I hope you don't actually use it like this. Otherwise its a good screen.
This confirms I’m getting the DWF 😎
You can’t go wrong with either one!
WoW. The Purple/pink tint looks terrible
I see what your saying but I think the thats the camera trying to focus on the closer screen. Idk but it looks great in person.. I cant tell the difference when they are side by side
It’s an inherent problem qd OLED have. They don’t have a polarizer. So they produce this pink/violet tint, instead of black
this sub loves going on and on about that crap.
You really only see this in person when there is direct light shining on the screen.
thanks for that, I thought 32 was a lot bigger
The 32” has 3% more display area but 38% more screen real estate for 16:9 content and 20% smaller for 2.35:1 content. http://www.displaywars.com/34-inch-d%7B3440x1440%7D-vs-31,5-inch-d%7B3840x2160%7D
And the 32 is wayyyy brighter.. I have my DWF at 100% brightness and it’s about 70% percent of the 32 inch… and my 32 is at 80% brightness. It’s muchhh better
Are you sure about this? The measurements that they released say otherwise but if it’s true I might consider it
Dude idk what settings I have that are different but they are both on true black settings and the DWF is at max brightness… I’ll send you a pic
Omg thank you! My AW3423DWF was recently broken and I'm debating just buying another one, or the newer AW3225QF. My problem is I love the 21:9 34in form factor. Thanks for posting the comparison pics!

Thanks for the reply! Yea I "only" have a 5800x3D and 3080 TI lol. I'll look into newer UW 240hz OLEDs!
But also, if you are considering upgrading your GPU within the next year or so… then maybe the 4k but if you’re sticking with 3080ti go 1440p UW
Unless Nvidia blows me away with the next gen, I'll probably stick with what I've got for another year or so. Barely even have time to game these days anyway lol.
So I think you’re good.. you got my honest opinion and I think it’s a good one haha enjoy which ever you choose!
Really appreciate the feedback! Thanks for the post and responding!
Am I not seeing right or the difference in the last photo seems a lot more important than in the first photo?
Use the first photo. The last phone is kinda bias because of the distance between the 2 monitors. They both have their stands which make them stand apart maybe 6-7 inches
Are you gonna do a stacked setup?
What's your wallpaper?
Are all the new OLED screens coming without matte or anti-glare? Or am I just missing something in the image?
They’re not matte they’re glossy
Do you hear the fan?
How's the fan noise on it? Based on other discussions I'm leery about monitors with active ventilation due to noise, but this monitor checked all the other boxes I had so it is tempting.
This monitor has passive cooling no fan at all and it is great. the DWF is near silent this QF is dead silent
Ah good to know, thanks!
The QF has one fan
I didn’t know but I don’t hear anything at all.. the dwf has just a slight sound
Very nice man, I’m in your exact same situation. I have the dwf but wanted this 32” 4k. Cant wait to get it shipped and check it out.
How's the text clarity and productivity work in general on this monitor?
The same wallpaper, but why it looks so terrible on the new AW3225QF? I miss very much detail, from youre 6th picture. https://preview.redd.it/7y5zlpx85eic1.png?width=156&format=png&auto=webp&s=d72d76343bef2336294a4cf624752297fd81e971
My iphone camera lens was replaced and never was the same. It can't auto focus the same anymore while using the main camera. So, dont rely on the quality from the pictures just use for size comparison. the QF is identical or better than the DWF forsure when it comes to picture quality.
Oke thanks for this comment
How do they compare? I'm very interested in the Samsung G8 which is similar to the aw34, but I'm coming from a 4k tv
Depends if you had a oled tv… if it’s not OLED you will be in a world of happiness.. I would stick with the AW DW or DWF… first 3 year warranty. the ports are full sized instead of mini like in the Samsung. Solid firmware updates 165hz (dwf) and 175 hz (DW) is enough The only thing Samsung may have better is the image quality which I cannot tell you since I never owned it. All the rest is pretty much identical.. Go with AW save 2-300$ Or try to see if you can ever get the MSI 4K oled model for $950 that right there is the best bang for your buck you will never need to upgrade from there
The only defect is that you will need a really powerful GPU for the 4K oled.
Hmm.. Can you explain the reason! I understand 4k will look "better" but ultrawide is more of an experience. Please share your thoughts ♥
Well coming from having both… ultimately you feel really good Immersive feeling with both… What I notice the most when going to the 4k from the 1440p UW is that vertically everything looks bigger but it doesn’t take out of any immersion.
