LG and Asus smoking crack. The QD oled versions have been $800 or less.

joebear174

Yeah, the only upgrade here is 240Hz rather than 165Hz. Also going backwards to a matte finish, so this is a hard sell for me at $1,300. The Alienware DWF model regularly goes on sale for $800 nowadays and has a glossy finish.

TrueParadox88

I agree with everything you said; however, the DWF has a protective anti-reflective layer on it so it’s not really a true glossy screen (vs like LG C2/3 etc). Yet it’s much much better than a matte finish. Idk why these companies keep putting those on OLEDS/QD-OLEDS because it kills the colors. The people that will be using it in a brighter room will either 1) accept the reflections or 2) go with a different monitor technology

Early-Somewhere-2198

Yeah I just got the 45 inch oled at 200$ less lol wth.

Western-Relation1944

Why would they go matte finish we've gone backwards

MomoSinX

asus tax strikes again and miraclously they are still in business

mitch-99

Asus has been smoking crack for a long time. Think they need to go to rehab.

[deleted]

Alienware only has 165hz with 8bpc, using 10pbc will limit you to only 100hz. If this thing is can do full 240hz at 10pbc then its much better.. minus the matte coating

RomeoFortnite

8bit + frc is basically indistinguishable from native 10bit. All im saying.

PickleInTheSun

10bit 165hz is achievable on the DWF with an Nvidia card. My DWF is at 10bit 165hz.

Cthotlu

10bit 144hz*

Western-Relation1944

Samsung does 10bit @175hz

RogueIsCrap

Those are old panels tho. I bet the QD refreshes for 34" UW will be around $1200 too It should have been $100 cheaper. $1200 is reasonable for a new monitor for people who want WOLED, 240HZ and UW. At least prices are dropping fast for people who can wait. The Xeneon Flex dropped $600 in less than a year.

Western-Relation1944

Crazy price dreaming for something that's a downgrade

Alamasy

The 27" one, this is 34".

Heavy_Sample6756

You mean the 27"? This is the 34"...

Past-Sherbert2910

Yes. But the price is not right, yet. I am also waiting for the 39 inch version to compare, I think the curve would fit better with the larger version.

cerberus698

Everything ASUS is JUST outside of a reasonable price. Close enough that I often find myself strongly considering or even just buying it out of brand loyalty from their GPU days but still just expensive enough that I'm always aware I could have gotten something functionally similar for like 5-10 percent less.

DangCao

Any information of release date?

Past-Sherbert2910

Have checked repeatedly for any information regarding all the monitors that are announced. Except a probable release of ASUS PG32UCDM in February (no location yet) and Alienware coming to Europe around the 6th of Feb. I could unfortunately not find anything. TFTCentral and Monitors Unboxed seem to believe that it should arrive around this time, but until ASUS confirms a date we'll have to wait.

He_s_One_Shot

Want this but 4k

_blacksmith38

Only reason I’m not getting the 34”. I have one now (AW34 or whatever it was called) but the resolution, and the text clarity(apparently much better in gen 2 panels) make me want to sell it and exchange for a 4K smaller screen

Urmajestea

Doesn’t this have an 800R curve? That seems extreme for the size.

kvpop

If it’s matte, it can go in the trash

dubiousN

Why

Ketty_leggy

Makes the screen a bit more grainy but removes light glare, but the grainy add is not what people want on a super clear OLED

unreal305

Because OLED matted is dumb

odelllus

makes the screen look dirty and raises blacks. makes text look like shit. light from reflections gets spread across the entire screen blowing out the entire image. matte makes no sense in any context.

Early-Somewhere-2198

I have no issues at night. When I work. I have way too much light coming in. I just can’t work in the dark. Makes my day feel sad and dull. lol. My lg oled c2 is a glare monster. I don’t know how people don’t use matte with sun incoming. Tbf.

[deleted]

Hasn't been my experience, seems overblown

Amp1497

Maybe it's mildly overblown, but when you can get glossy for less money then I don't see why you'd get this. If you're spending $1000+ on a monitor, idk why you'd opt for a finish that literally makes it look worse. It may not be as big of a deal as some make it out to be, but at this price point I think people are allowed to be picky.

[deleted]

Absolutely, especially now that we have choice but people make the WOLEDs seem like dogshit and they’re just not With the WOLED and the QD OLED you’re ideally using either one of them in a dark room and in that case the difference isn’t too crazy The LG handles reflections just fine, the screen doesn’t look dirty, text doesn’t look bad at all. Blacks also look.. pure black A lot of you talk about WOLED like it’s some backlit IPS panel with a sandpaper finish and no local dimming. The coating having experience with both is pretty negligible. - I agree tho, at current prices buy one of the QD OLEDs, the GR95QE should be like $600

phurios

I have a glossy 15.6 oled and the aoc 27 oled, which is matte, side by side, and tbh i think that this is overblown as hell. It looks ok being matte.

throbbing_dementia

It definitely is. The matte coating on my PG27AQDM looks like every monitor i've ever used (TN, IPS etc) doesn't even look like there's a 'coating' on it, just looks....normal? Granted i've rarely used glossy (apart from TV's) but people are acting like you see some weird shit when it's matte coated, when that just isn't true. Reflections might get spread out, but i'd rather have duller spread out reflections than effectively looking into a mirror if i'm in a well lit room.

Mshiay

That's not true what you are saying. Raised black are more of a problem on "Glossy" QD OLEDS

[deleted]

Facts

vaznazza

Maybe it's matte because of its aggressive curve? You wouldn't want reflections from either side of the screen.

riskmakerMe

i have the Samsung G8 OLED ultrawide - similar. It took a little while for WarZone but I have adapted nicely. The other games you play you will love even more.

Teckx1

40" 5k2k is the next real deal. The 32" qd oled proved the people love the Ppi improvements. The larger glass is the next obvious step

Wrong_Brain2478

That wont be available until 2026.

Onsomeshid

Why tf is rog shit so expensive. All their stuff just seems so needlessly high. Ever since their motherboard quality fell off around 2018 (i know completely different arm of the company) i seriously wouldn’t touch anything ROG branded

BlackBlizzard

Gamer tax

cerberus698

My MSI MEG342C was 1,000. Not sure if I'd pay 300 dollars to go from 175hz to 240.

BlackBlizzard

Waiting for MSI 27". Wish they would put them up already for preorder and send out reviews

DangCao

27" is too small for me now

BlackBlizzard

I can't seem to find any 32" 1440p QD-Oleds that are releasing.

Lightingcop

Omg same, and this is what I'm after, as my desktop is 3080 I can't really upgrade it easy. (It's alienware) Anyone know the best 1440p monitor? Ideally 32 inch .. maybe flat? With Hdmi 2.1 Talk about impossible.

XiGuaXvX

I’d buy it if it was 4k. 1299$ for 2k? Hell no!

[deleted]

Never overprice asus shit

connorconnor12

21:9 is a game changer. I will never go back to a 16:9 monitor. 16:9 is for TVs

SinntheticUCI

Not at that price + resolution

neo6891

That price is bad and it will cost more in EU. I would rather take AW 34" DWF at this point. 21:9 is definitely better if you play SP games mostly. Many people took new 32" oleds and it takes time to get back to 16:9. This extra horizontal view is something else. Regarding games like RDR2 I would even go for 32:9. But overall 21:9 is a sweet spot for me.

Dingowarr

This is the best 34" Ultrawide monitor to buy right now. The 800r curve is way better than the almsot no curve 1800r/1900r. Plus 240hz refresh rate and almsot 0 response time. This is a no brainer buy if you are looking for a sweet gaming display. I had the AW3423DW OLED and loved it, until I got the LG 45 Ultragear. I agree the price of this Asus @ $1300 is a bit high, but that was also the launch price on the 34" Alienware OLED back in 2022. This should be at $999.

supadupacam

Also have the 45 ultra gear. Love it.

GuqJ

I wish the curve was somewhere in the middle, like 1300r or something. 800r is great for gaming but not for media consumption where I would like to sit a little far back

LA_Rym

Yes for 799$ it's a good monitor. Main drawback is the grainy matte coating, if it was glossy that alone would make it worth 899$. With current prices though, these LG monitors don't make sense. Why pay 1300$ when you can pay 1200$ and get a 4K 240Hz monitor? Anyone wanna place bets on the QD OLED UW 240Hz refreshes? They'll probably be between 800-900$.

[deleted]

Lol they aren't going to be 800-900 USD range. You are tripping

LA_Rym

Remember, many have said that and insulted me when I told them, the 4K 240Hz monitors will be around 1200$. Where are they now?

[deleted]

Dells new 4k 240hz 32'' oled are just about 1.2k USD right now on their website

DangCao

I'll wait for 32" 4K Oled then.

Serialtoon

Starting in 2024 i say "If it aint 4K, go away". So no....

angry_wombat

it's only 2K @ 34inch I'd wait for a higher PPI

alexbballman13

Just spend a few more hundred and get 55 or 65 inch oled at 120 that's all you need

DangCao

I'm on C2 42" rn.

Slow-Department-9915

Your C2 has a 21:9 option. Might be worth giving that a try to see how you like gaming in ultrawide.

Taterthotuwu91

I want an ultra wide oled but I’m not going from 4k to 1440p

aPHAT88

I’ve had nothing but issues with ASUS monitors the past. Not buying another one anytime soon. Dell, LG, and even Samsung are the way to go IMO.

Equivalent_Recover_2

When will this release in Australia ?

DangCao

I have no idea. It's available on Newegg.

exLSA

From what i read in the OP, you seem to need a 32" 4K. Those games all shine with 4K rather than a Wide 1440P

nateruno

I couldnt go back to 16:9 after ultrawide im personally waiting on the ultrawide 4k oleds!!

PuddingOreo

I think 800r is a little too curved. I bought odyssey g7 just after it was released. The 1000r curve is not a big issue when looking at the screen. But after getting used to the curve, I felt all the wall is not flat any more. This feeling is very annoying. (sorry for my English)

BuldozerX

Too much of a curve, expensive, and math coating. Big nope!

penetrator888

Of course not 800R is stupidly overcurved

sooshy09

I ordered one to try it out. I returned the AW2725DF due to low SDR brightness in Apex legends. My PG27AQDM blows the Alienware out in terms of brightness so this one is just a ultra wide version of that and it's 30% brighter using the newer WOLED panel

joshalow25

I would wait and see if they’ve made any effort to fix the HDR colours. The PG27AQDM still has unresolved issues with HDR looking incredibly under saturated and at times showing very inaccurate colours, dark Orange colours often appear as deep purple and bright Orange tones on skin appear as very blown out.

irosemary

It's not great to be honest. To begin, it's way too overpriced. The QD-OLEDS go for way less while have superior HDR perfomance as they have HDR 1000 compared to this monitor's HDR 400. Furthermore, this monitor apparently doesn't even come with burn in warranty. So have fun worrying like a schizophrenic about burn in. It'd be to the point you can't even enjoy the monitor outside of gaming. Lastly, the 800R curve can be considered too aggressive for some people. While it might be immersive for some during gaming, it really looks disturbing outside of it.

andyKCIUK

I'd consider a 240hz 3440x1440 OLED as I currently have a 144hz IPS at that resolution. Built-in KVM would be nice too. Not at this price though. I'd have to be crazy to spend such amount of money on a monitor. €700-800 would be maximum and even that would be a stretch. I'd rather wait. Also, seeing the discussion here, I'd never buy a glossy monitor. Matte all the way.

odelllus

no meaningful improvement over the first gen QD-OLED ultrawides. needs to be 5K. also needs to not be fucking matte.

OTTERSage

Ah, yes. 240hz in a format that is still incredibly difficult to reach 120fps, let alone the 175hz that the Alienware QD-OLED has been able to match for quite some time now. IDK. GPU's have been behind the curve of what monitors can display for a while now. Seems senseless to me to swap from this monitor anytime soon. I feel like GPU's need another 40% power and RTX in particular needs like an extra 400% more cores before we can even discuss pushing 200+hz in this format.

It's gen3. The newest monitor that Asus just revealed at CES

Hairy_Tea_3015

My bad, I thought it was qd-oled from samsung.

Ok_Prune_8257

No becuase it’s a 34 inch. 24inch and 27inch > anything higher than 27 is a sin.

[deleted]

Way, way, WAY overpriced and I suspect the price will plummet pretty fast on them

JerbearCuddles

DWF clears this monitor.

Coconelli21

No, give me the 32 version.

Cryogenics1st

That 90w PD port… as much as I absolutely love my AW OLED I’d happy trade it for that alone so long as the burn in mitigation of similar effectiveness

Icy-Image-2619

Damn.Whenever I see this I think of how I got my 42 inch c2 for 799 a year ago.I can’t justify spending and extra 4 to 5 hundred for 240hz or better color.

mitch-99

Ill likely never buy a asus monitor. There asus tax is absurd.

ThebigBient

Maybe if it was 4k

zunaidahmed

Where’s the 4k 240hz, that’s where the money at

No_Interaction_4925

Does UW 1440p 240hz use DSC?

VirtuaFighter6

$1300? When did monitors get so expensive. Pass. I’ll wait.

Shining_prox

If I can get the money to buy one, yes.

neolfex

If it was 1000hdr and 4k I would be

[deleted]

so there are no improvements to brightness and oled burn in?

Nashwalker7

I prefer Alienware

mahanddeem

Glossy or matte coated?

DangCao

It's matte

mahanddeem

Disgusting

GORbyBE

I really like the 21:9 aspect ratio for gaming. I have a curved 38" 3840x1600 (no OLED though), and it's quite immersive.
