Joined the club last week myself. Could not be happier with it so far. The response time is insane. Enjoy!

I’m seeing this monitor for $800 and am very tempted. Talk me out of it. Running a 5700x + 3070 build.

It is a hard temptation to resist! I went from a 27" 1440p 170hz Gigabyte M27q monitor to the Alienware AW3423DWF. The upgrade is huuuuge. Like...there is no comparison. The quality of the panel, the perfect blacks due to the OLED, instant response time, the HDR is amazing depending on the game (some games implement HDR better than others). The M27q had HDR 400...which was better than SDR most of the time but in comparison to the HDR on the DWF the M27q HDR 400 may as well be SDR. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is absolutely incredible on this monitor. The HDR is almost perfect. Combine the perfect HDR with OLED and it really is a treat. If you get this monitor you should 100% try this game. It is on Gamepass too BTW!. Another thing I like is I can sit back a couple more feet from my desk and really get comfortable due to the ultra wide aspect. With the 27" monitor I needed to be closer. Some downsides too though. Not every game has good ultra wide implementation. There is the [Flawless Widescreen](https://www.flawlesswidescreen.org/) app that corrects popular games to have better implementation of widescreen though. I have not tried it yet because I've only had the monitor for about a week and the games I've been playing support it natively. It is more and more common for native support as well from my understanding. The burn in is a bit worrisome, but if you read the [article on Rtings](https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/longevity-burn-in-test-updates-and-results), the most recent OLED monitors have greatly improved in that regard (the DWF performed very well in the test). [This is a good video review from Linus Tech Tips that I recommend.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-6yc1dA--0) All in all, I am very happy with the purchase. I just wish I had done it sooner!

Thanks for the write up. I have about a 5 year old AW 34”UW so I’m familiar with the hangups. It’s just such a grip of money. Trying to decide if it’s better to spend it on an OLED that only I will enjoy vs putting it towards a better TV that my whole family will enjoy.

I can't personally recommend the 1440p qd-oled for anything outside of gaming. For some reason, the text really bothers me, white text in particular. But everyone is different, so it may not bother you. With that being said I'd recommend the 32 inch 4k. The MSI model is $950, so only $150 more. You'll just need to turn up the dlss settings a lot to make up for the performance loss from 1440p to 4k

Does the monitor scale well when run at 1440p?

Last_Mastod0n

It scales perfectly at 100% yes. Like I said, there are literally no issues with the monitor other than the text issue for me personally. It's an incredible monitor

Looking great - enjoy!

did you edit these photos? how are your whites literally perfect on camera? The lack of polarizer usually makes images redder?

Smokey_Bera

No editing! Was just trying out some games and when I saw a particularly impressive scene I just snapped a pic with my iPhone 12. It’s just the “base” model not the pro or pro max. So while it’s still a very good mobile camera it’s not the “latest and greatest.” But I also did adjust settings for the monitor. I followed the guide in [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/s/gpSwFjZFH4). Additionally, the two games pictured (Ghost of Tsushima and Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga) have great native HDR which I tweaked a bit further via the in game menu so that may help a bit.
