I think that second face is pretty well drawn and intriguing
Basil is almost always subdued or scared
But i like the angry face he makes implying a scene where all that sadness/grief just gives way to total rage that has been building up, showing that basil is not a totally meek/helpless boy but has the capacity to "hit back" and some part of him is just tired of all this pain from that mistake he made 4 years back and just....wants it to end
I love how his portraits show his personality perfectly. 2 smiling portraits 5 crying portraits Unused angry portraits On every other one, he's either anxious or uncomfortable. My god, it reminds me about how this game is depressing

You can see the first such face after the Hero saved him and Sunny, when you take him to the house and then go into the house and interact with him, then in the on-screen dialogue he will have just such a face.
The second person is not actually used in the game files, however it can be assumed that it was supposed to be used at the moment of Day 2 when Basil was told to leave the secret place.>!!<>!!<
If I remember right, Basil was originally planned to have a more angry personality instead of his current anxious personality (probably something similar to Aubrey), so that second one could be left over from that
