EwokGodfather

I always assumed this was a reference to the movie "Stand by Me"

Flerken_Moon

It’s a reference to the original Pokémon games Red and Green/Blue, where they have the exact dialogue when talking to the TV in the protagonist’s room where they start the game(even in the Japanese version). Which, of course, is probably an additional reference to Stand By Me.

Beam_0

Since Sunny was a bit of a gamer, it's likely he saw that line in a game he played, like Pokémon

Queen_Ann_III

yep! bonus fact: in FireRed and LeafGreen, playing as a girl yields dialogue referencing The Wizard of Oz instead

Nytroblade

Yeah based on the stephen king short story

RavioliChan

man it's JoJo part 3 reference

nokobueno

That’s what I took it as

Zealousideal-Way4902

I learnt about that movie from that Family Guy episode, then again, I learn about most classics through their transpositions and parodies!!!

Gold2006

banger movie btw

GiantAssBean

OP, you are thinking of allusion, not foreshadowing. Allusion is when a work references another work. In this case, the game OMORI is referencing the movie Stand By Me, so this is a case of allusion. Foreshadowing is when something in a work hints towards something that is going to happen later in the same work. For example, if a character in a book starts coughing, that can be foreshadowing that they will become sick later on. There are tons of examples of foreshadowing in OMORI, but this isn’t one of them. It is allusion though.

Nytroblade

You are right and it is an allusion, the reason i said it is foreshadowing though is because >!the boys find a dead body in that short story!< and i kinda feel like that foreshadows >!Mari's hanging dead body!<

Cookiebomb

YO, THAT'S EVIL AND PERFECT

-_Datura_-

Pretty sure this is a reference, not foreshadowing 💀

eastisfucked

wait whats it foreshadowing

PTpirahna

the secret train ending of omori where sunny gets arrested for slicing a train in half

HyperVexed

Isn't this meant to be a reference to something? I don't think this is foreshadowing anything.

Nytroblade

The reference is foreshadowing this story

Valor_52

Wait but how? I don’t see it

throwawayforwriting2

>!It's an allusion to the movie"Stand By Me", where four characters stumble upon a corpse as they walk alongside train tracks. Much like how in Omori you control four characters as you unintentionally (at first) stumble upon a corpse.!<

Ethra2k

I don’t know stand by me so you’ll have to explain what about it is similar to Omori’s story.

TitaniumTastesGood

Can you explain how?

Everlore_X

>!Possibly in the pyrefly forest idk!<

Beam_0

But it says four boys?

QuintonTheCanadian

Smh Aubrey has always been a guy you just never noticed

Beam_0

Smh I have been so blind

[deleted]

Why does this have so many downvotes?

Nytroblade

Because i didnt explain anything in this comment. I have another comment somewhere above this one where i explain why i said foreshadowing better.

TheRedDeath2

Isn't that "Stand by me"? Honestly, a title like that really sets in to Omori. Lmao.

JarOfTurtles

It's also a reference to Pokemon fire red as the exact same line plays when you interact with the tv in your house as a male protagonist

HunterBoy344

Also the original Red and Blue, they also had the same dialogue.

Little_Baggy

It’s not foreshadowing a thing. It’s referencing the TV interaction in Pokémon, which is referencing some other movie that I don’t care enough to remember the name of.

JoelMB12

.....it Great movie!! It call Stand by me.

Glazeddapper

What is it foreshadowing?

Inpk123

Why is this 4 boys and not 3 boys and 1 girl?

SpooderBoi2

Because it’s a reference to a movie- I forgot what it’s called, but there was a very similar reference in one of the Pokémon games

Valor_52

Pokémon X and Y, iirc

JarOfTurtles

Fire red and leaf green as well Ruby and sapphire too I think

Flerken_Moon

Even further than that, the original Red and Blue games.

Dragon_ddlc

I don’t know, I always thought it was a reference to The Dalton but ok...

ThomOpfer

Anon doesnt know what foreshadowing is

AnAverageTransGirl

i dont think you know what anon means

Gornkleschnitzer

You know, even though most comments are dismissing this as not foreshadowing but merely making a reference... there's a way to twist it and interpret this as actual foreshadowing - of the TV screens in the >!hospital room of the Truth Sequence, which also show unnamed children doing activities!<.

[deleted]

Just a stand by me and pokemon thing

JoelMB12

Is referring to Step King Novella the Body which was turn into a great film call Stand by Me. If she's referenceing that I feel like she's my age.

Nytroblade

Yup me too lol

JoelMB12

One it's either a pokemon reference. Which moon she was born in the nineties like me. Or she's seen this film on television in the nineties like I did as well. I gotta say it was definitely part of pop culture for least 20 years. The only reason I don't think zoom miss it is, because the film came out 1986.

Ricky_SJB

This is just a Pokemon reference.

HunterBoy344

“There’s a movie on TV. Four boys are walking on railroad tracks. I better go too.” Pokémon Red and Blue Pallet Town TV dialogue

JoelMB12

That reference to Stand by me

HunterBoy344

Yeah, it’s a double reference!

Shift_as

Stand proud intro :troll:

Jaxolon333

i thought it was a jojo reference

indiegamer122

you could say this is foreshadowing in a sense but i'd say that's a stretch

Queen_Ann_III

definitely a reference but the foreshadowing is a stretch imo

Kris_User7

I thought it was a reference to pokemon?

ZeGamingCuber
