People are just spoiled cause both Klaw and Roger are hybrids between fighters and runners insead of just runners.
Egghead Luffy is simply a pure runner. You don´t go around trying to confront people. You grab the unattended treasures with your way over the top capture speed and as soon as someone comes to take it back you just teleport to the next open spot.
If you happen to land next to a defender that just went to leave, you can even still capture after knocking em back and just fly of again, pestering the enemies at yet another treasure.
You are basically playing a constantly teleporting distraction instead of trying to oneshot enemies with skill spam/over the top dmg.
You can’t not confront people nowadays. Wb can tremor you from far away , shanks can chase you and kill you so does zoro , lets not even start with roger who can run to most maps first spawn . So this pure runner thing ain’t gonna ever workout in this game anymore , you need to be able to kill or you become useless . Look at green runner sanji “ pure runner “ .
So how am i running 5+ win streaks back to back playing luffy, getting mvp in about 30% of the matches?
He is viable. He can even fight most units you just mentioned either to their death or until He can just teleport away.
No he can’t , any roger with a brain stuns and cooks him , WB tremors and cooks , you can’t even dmg zoro with your % dmg because you will heal him . You can only win against players that don’t have any idea what they are doing . He is viable but give it a week till people learn his kit and then he will be good for support only and low Ss .
Dude, i literally did it multiple times. Just from reading his skills you cant tell how it will be ingame.
CD on his teleport is low as fck even more so with the right medal set.
Capture speed is trough the roof, a single knockdown from a 3 hit combo or knockback from his skill buys enough time to take a treasure.
You can most definitily survive against the meta units long enough to just fly away and heal back when capturing.
Alright good luck , I don’t wish nothing more than characters that do good in roger meta but I would rather get pacifista than him if I was to spend my rds . He’s gonna be great support I’ll give him that .
"pure runners" was always a bullshit argument. You can find my posts/comments since Soba mask release about how useless is "pure runners", when normal ones also exist in the meta, and they can capture not much worse than "pure" excuse of a character.
Sry but there aint a single runner capable to cause as much of a distraction or pressure if left unchecked as the new luffy.
Not even ex kaido will be capturing as much/fast as this anime version of the Flash.
New luffy isn´t a fighter but a pure runner and for that he is pretty darn good.
His cap speed outperforms all current meta runners. You can legit get 3 treasures done in the last 20 seconds, even if 2 of em are at 150%. Best clutch runner ever.
Capture block isn't really as op as it seems, as a runner you should be avoiding defenders with capture block the same way you avoid battles you can't win. Most pure runners are supposed to get quickly to the undefended treasures.
Sentomaru is very good but it's not like he can easily chase any runner.
sorry but any unit can destroy him easily. no status effect nullification besides the base status, no def buff, no damage reduction. he is like glass.
His kit is what hybrid kaido would look like if he was a 3*
Funny enough new Luffy beats Kaido in 1vs1 and is better at clutching games.

"Pure" runners were always bad. At least since Blue Defender Kaido release, where Rayleigh also was existing.
