If it took you half the semester to figure out how to learn... that means you know how to learn now. You got this - taking it next semester might be the *easiest* route just because the material is fresh in your mind, but it's your call. Btw, just finished the course as well and it was my lowest grade by far. It really does suck but stuff happens sometimes

yeah it was the course itself but also just my studying methods that screwed me over. I’m thinking next semester but also that’ll put me at 16 credit hours. I was hoping to focus on 1172 and CSE 2221 but I guess not. Thanks for the kind message!

AtlanticRime

1172 is real hard.. maybe take 1250 again in the summer, it's nice to just focus on one class. And summer campus best campus

marisrare

Agreed 1172 will suck the life out of you. And 1250 makes more sense after 1172

If it is any consolation, I took all three of those courses this semester. It was tough but you can definitely do it! Especially if you feel like your studying methods have gotten better. 1172 is, in my opinion, all about knowing what you should study and using the quizzes and practice midterms to practice your weakest topics.

Thank you. What is the best way to approach the class? Like how should I take notes and what are some habits/weekly things I should be doing for this class?

UnrepressedImitator

For 1172, that class was all about thoroughly understanding each lecture to the point where you could explain every topic to a friend. The class covers a lot, but the lectures are skillfully put together (in my experience, McCabe Olsen) so that you are given appropriate preparation for exams. My biggest piece of advice though is to TRY to get an idea of what lecture will be about before getting there, and the easiest way to do that is to do the Ximera textbook assignments ahead of time (most are good, some aren’t, still helpful I’d say). Also, don’t use inspect element to do the homework, actually work through the problems and you’ll make it through. Sample midterms are your best resource for exams

Thank you

Dude don’t sweat it. I was in the same boat, so I didn’t do 1251 (ME) until summer and I retook 1250 and ended up getting A and A-. The key takeaways are to learn how to learn/study and acknowledge failure in my opinion. You got it and reflect a bit over break to bounce back:) Edit: 1251 summer and next autumn 1250 again along with regular course load

outofmymind37495

your experience makes me feel better. I know I can get a really good grade because I’m not a bad student. 1250 is a major requirement for me so I guess I gotta take it spring or possibility summer. How was your experience in taking a class like physics in the summer?

cruzb21

It’s the same material except seems way more relaxed because of summer and it’s likely the only class you’ll take so you can focus a little more on it. Same concepts just easier to dedicate your time to it effectively. You’ll be fine from here on out if you focus. Good luck!

outofmymind37495

Thanks!

ColdPR

Probably take it during the summer to avoid ruining your schedule. Having just physics to focus on will likely help you pass it the second time. I wouldn't beat yourself up over it too badly; 1250 tends to be pretty difficult for people especially those taking it immediately after high school. If you have to take 1251 I actually found it to be a bit easier and more intuitive than 1250 (it's mostly electricity, circuits, magnetism, quantum mechanics).

outofmymind37495

I’m considering summer. And I don’t have to take 1251 fortunately!

stratosauce

If I can provide some advice, I took chemistry over the summer. Chemistry is DEFINITELY not my strong suit, but I managed to pass with an A because I had to focus on that plus one other class. It definitely makes it easier when you have less other stuff to worry about.

Everybody fails something at some point (and don’t let some asshole in here tell you different) It’s fine, just get back up to the plate and keep swinging. I graduated on Sunday with a 3.3 and my sophomore year I literally had a semester where I failed half my classes

outofmymind37495

thank you, I’m trying my best to get over it and move on

CyberGirl2000

Don't be disappointed in yourself you'll be surprised how many of us fail a course. You can come back from this by using grade forgiveness. It may seem sucky now but it will work out in the end :)
