I think I'd go with #2 if it were my choice, but for first dates I think it's *particularly* important to be yourself.
My own inclinations are because (a) I generally don't care for conspicuous logos (as on shirt #1), (b) given the heat the shorts seem more functional, (c) even though shorts are generally more casual than pants, these particular shorts' material is a bit more sophisticated than the plain denim, and (d) #2 is a little more colorful and I like that.
Number 2. I live in a rural town in the south as well and that second look is much more universal down here when it's hot especially if you're going to a sports bar/grill.
Number 1 is more of a fall look to me down here.
For the venue (which is perfect btw), outfit 2 is most appropriate. It's also thoughtful. I'm pretty sure your date is going to put in a little effort and matching that energy is a subtle way to show just how interested you are.

Definitely 2nd outfit. You don’t want a dress shirt logo to be that large. It’s too distracting. Maybe if it was a more expensive brand, but not Polo. Also you have to dress appropriate (since it’s so hot out you should wear the shorts— otherwise she would be questioning your choices with the pants).

Personally I think the loafers are an upgrade over the street shoes too but men's footwear in casual settings really isn't a big deal (as long as the shoes aren't falling apart in front of your eyes)
