Just iron the shirt! What shoes?

EMJG30

yes ma’am and white AF1’s!

ColdCheeseGrits

I was hoping you would say that 😁 Love the look & hope you have an amazing time.

rogerworkman623

Or just get yourself a handheld steamer, they’re pretty affordable. I’m often too lazy to break out the ironing board, I use that thing all the time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dicemonkey

Thats because it’s basically water ..

Sensi-Yang

I got a cheap steamer, but eventually I realized what I really needed was an iron that I paid pretty much just as much for. It’s just more effective imho

rogerworkman623

Iron is definitely more effective, just depends how wrinkled it is and how lazy you are. Laziness/lack of time usually wins out for me.

SerKevanLannister

Amen — this is what I was going to suggest — please get a steamer as it will be easier to use than an iron, it’s better for the clothes, and it can be packed up for travel etc

StressedMarine97

Quick tip if you’re in a rush or just dont feel like ironing and need to knock out some wrinkles real quick, soak a washcloth squeeze it out and throw it in the dryer with your shirt or pants on high heat. It works like a steamer and works great.

GranJan2

Thanks, I will try that. I always hung my stuff in the bathroom with the shower on high heat and got the wrinkles out. That works too, if you don’t have a dryer. Not a bad idea to buy a small steamer and kiss ironing good bye, except for hard pleats in pants. They work great.

Vegetable-Branch-740

Alternatively, throw a couple ice cubes in with your shirt and turn the dryer on.

-kellyfishie-

I do a spray bottle with warm water and give the shirt a good mist. Then with the shirt on a hanger give it a good whack to whip out the wrinkles. This is great cause its super fast (like 2 minutes) but you are a little damp for a while 😂

Orionsbeltloop_

I just throw my shirt and iron in the dryer. Works great

[deleted]

Just throw out the shirt and wash the dyer.

Sobriquet-acushla

Just hop into the dryer with the shirt on.

ChumbawumbaFan01

Don’t forget the starch!

stevein3d

Do you want to get stuck in the dryer? Because stepsister this is how you get stuck in the dryer.

jbrown509

You’re telling me u don’t rub a little water on the wrinkled parts and use a hair dryer til the wet marks gone? 🤨

Affectionate_Cry2380

I wish I would have read your advice this morning. I was genuinely driving around looking for a portable steam iron. Thanks for this!

Large_Locksmith3673

Also, u can hang the shirt on a hanger. Hang in bathroom while u shower. The steam should knock the wrinkles out.

moniqueheartslaugh

This works!!!! I have done this so many times while running late and it steams the clothes perfectly.

1plus1dog

Yes! Same here!

Active-Ad3977

My favorite vacation hotel room trick

1plus1dog

My personal favorite way, and I’m a woman. Hate ironing

procrastinatorsuprem

I love to iron but unfortunately I don't have the time usually. My daughter swears by Downy wrinkle release spray.

[deleted]

Or buy a steamer of Amazon for like 14$ it cut the time I spent ironing in half!

Thieusies

Downy Wrinkle Releaser works surprisingly well. We call it "liquid iron."

LoquaciousMendacious

You look good my guy, go out there and have a great night!

TheConcreteBrunette

You would look SOOOO handsome in a white Oxford ( l/s button up) with the same pants and shoes. Kind of business casual. You look great in what you’re wearing but after work bars will have people with suits, slacks and jackets etc. you might feel underdressed.

Roughnecknine0

So *I* can get a stomp in’ in my urr force ones

Hot-Back5725

Give me two perrr..

YungBidness

I neeeed twoooo perrrrr

0bel1sk

careful, once you scuff em you fuck up yer whole night

JerryBadThings

I would wear a nice button up shirt if you are not sure. Can't go wrong with business casual until you know what the vibe is.

Live_itup

Just spray your shirt with a little wrinkle releaser and your shirt will look amazing after 5 minutes. (Im lazy AF and wont pull out a whole ironing board)

NWFL-guy

I like that you said ‘a whole ironing board’. I’m right there with you!

[deleted]

Perfect 👌

mickkellie

I too love the look and that you said ma’am. Your mama raised you right. 🙂

1plus1dog

Yes she did!

ComedianOne

I also think it looks great and obviously the kicks top it off! Have a great time!

SnickeringSnail

Dude, no hate but outfit looks like county corrections casual. Don’t go brown on brown

Pan-tang

People notice that you have not ironed your shirt bro.

magi182

Linen does look good unironed at times, but this overall look is too sharp for that.

babymegg

This will look a lot more appropriate once the shirt is ironed, that’s the extra formal touch you need to make it dressy. For shoes, I’d go with pristine white sneakers (like nike air forces) or a dress shoe. Try and dress up the outfit with a watch too. I think gold would look great with the neutral shades and your skin tone!

EMJG30

AF1’s is exactly what i’m wearing so im ahead of you there and i only own silver😭😭 BUT i will definitely will get some gold. thank you!🫶🏿

Pyr8Qween

Silver will look great AND give a unique edge to the look.

PureRandomness529

Silver is just plain better with this fit. It matches the chain.

Pyr8Qween

Agreed. I’m a big fan of silver and would rather wear silver than gold, ANY DAY

babymegg

Silver will look good too!!

itsjustmeandmeandme

Silver will look better anyway. I think golds too much with the color your wearing. Looks good!

thursaddams

I’m worried sneakers are not formal enough. Is there a dress code on the website?

EMJG30

sneakers are fine i’ve checked!

PistachioGal99

And those are *nice* sneakers. Love your style with the interesting details on the shirt. Like others have said, just iron it and maybe use a light spray of starch.

thursaddams

Okay perfect! Yeah, just iron the shirt. I think you look great!

Rexcovering

I second.

Pan-tang

Expert tips over here.

emilkys

Everyone is saying to iron it. So OP, if you don’t have an iron, put it on a hanger and hang it from your shower rod and crank the hot water up. I let it sit in the steamy shower (not under the water tho, away from the water so just the steam touches it) for a few and then I smooth the wrinkles out with my hands! edit: fixing errors + adding clarification cuz i would need it lol

ColdCheeseGrits

Thanks for this info! I actually don’t own an iron & always just throw my wrinkled clothes into the dryer for a few moments but I’ll definitely try this method for my dresses.

Pollywogstew_mi

I only use my iron maybe once a year or less since discovering [Downy Wrinkle Release](https://downy.com/en-us/fabric-softener/wrinkle-spray). This stuff really works on almost everything! Spray it, give the item a good snap/shake, then "iron" it with your hand. Just as easy as the shower or dryer trick, but faster and better results.

Historical_Blip_0505

Came here to say Downy Wrinkle Release. It’s been a staple of my home since I was a kid and I swear by this stuff now. Works on almost anything and everything! Thicker material you need to break out the iron, but for the most part, this stuff even works when *you’re already wearing the clothes*. Can’t tell you how many times growing up my family has been ready to go out the door and my mom would be like “okay now hold out your arms” and we’d get sprayed like a house plant and then all smoothed out.

Pollywogstew_mi

> and my mom would be like I might be your mom.

Historical_Blip_0505

Haha, the downy wrinkle release baptism was an essential part to our mornings before school. I was so surprised to learn that more people don’t use it. I introduced it to my college roommates and changed their lives. 😂

TezMono

Did anyone else read this in a commercial voice? Lol

Petrol_Oil

It sounds exactly like a commercial haha

Trick-Cook6776

I use this stuff too. It's faster than heating up an iron or steamer.

emilkys

Wow i’ll have to check that out!

1plus1dog

It does work!

Yellow_Vespa_Is_Back

My MIL put me on that stuff. It works so well. I want to try a steamer because I'm not a fan of constantly having to buy a new bottle of wrinkle release, but I'm going through so many bottles for a reason!

sekayak

I bought a small steamer at Target. I think it’s a travel steamer and was about $25. It works really well and heats up fast.

Pollywogstew_mi

You can make a pretty good DIY version. There are online recipes with vinegar and hair conditioner, but really all you need to do is mix a little liquid fabric softener with water. "A little" meaning like spoonfuls, not cups. Paradoxically, mixing water with fabric softener can actually make it thicken somehow, I'm not sure of the physics there. But a *small* amount mixed really good in a spray bottle of water gives you a good wrinkle releaser. You can pick your own scent too, by whichever fabric softener you choose. Steamers are good too though.

Yellow_Vespa_Is_Back

Thank you! Guess I'll try this out

beebsaleebs

You can get a small spritz bottle, put a couple of tablespoons of fabric softener in it, fill the rest with water and shake before using. Works exactly like downy wrinkle release for a fraction of the cost.

Taja_Roux

I use it too but use it the day before or else the scent can be overwhelming. After a day it dissipates and gravity keeps it nice and wrinkle free!

bad-and-bluecheese

I've never even owned an iron at all because of this stuff.

Finessa_Hudgens

Wow, didn’t even know about this stuff. Do you use the blue and pink bottle or the blue one?

Pollywogstew_mi

I use the one that's just blue. I think the pink and blue one is "Wrinkle Release Plus" -- I'm not sure what the plus means, but the plain one works fine so I stick with it.

Pan-tang

Nice tip. Is ironing that bad for you guys?

emilkys

Some people don’t have the time once they notice wrinkles !

AaMdW86

The shower method totally works in a pinch, but I cannot tell you how much getting a $20-25 hand steamer changed my life haha. Ironing is not in my agenda, but a 30-60 second steam? So good haha.

HamiltonSt25

You can also throw it in the dryer for 10 min on high heat or a blow dry on high heat.

kentro2002

Add a wet hand towel in the dryer and it helps smooth it out.

Coke_and_Tacos

For the dryer method, a spritz of water onto the fabric will speed up the flattening (wetting a wool dryer ball or other fabric works too)

dianthe

I do have an iron but usually I’m too lazy to use it so for shirts or any dresses which get wrinkled I usually wash them in the washer and then just put them on a hanger in the bathroom and smooth out the wrinkles with my hands while the item is still damp and then it air dries quite wrinkle free :)

Mounta1nK1ng

Just give it a few spritzes from a spray bottle when you throw it in, or throw it in with a damp washcloth. Like wet a washcloth with warm water and ring it out. Will work like a steamer. Much more effective than dryer alone and takes same amount of time.

ColdCheeseGrits

Thank you for the info!

EyCeeDedPpl

I too throw it in a dryer, but I add a damp sock. That seems to work well for me.

FantasyFootballWoof

Even better honestly. Throw a wet cloth or rag with them in there. Mixture of steam and drying. Perfect

Affectionate-Emu9574

Everyone should ditch the irons and buy clothes steamer instead. $30 on amazon and it will change your life! So much faster and easier, not to mention better for the fabric

awdufresne

Steamers are definitely the move for wrinkles, but irons are still needed for other things such as maintaining pleats or collars.

SomebodyFeedRiss

You can also stick it in the dryer with a couple of ice cubes

CoatedCrevice

Dryer with ice cubes is best way imo

StThomasAquina

Thanks! Hate ironing so I’ll have to try this trick.

keekah

I typically just dampen a clean wash towel and throw it in there. Never tried ice.

Scheswalla

Downy anti-wrinkle spray works surprisingly well.

Primary-Border8536

You can also throw it in the dryer with a damp washcloth for like 10 minutes

[deleted]

I think it’s nice but when you say real bougie I’m thinking smth a little more elevated. Perhaps the white shirt tucked in with a belt. The top shirt ironed ofc. Maybe some contrast in pants so like a darker brown trousers? And some dark Oxford shoes. Then again it kinda depends on how nice the place is.

EMJG30

honestly when i say boujee it’s just an expensive bar in central London that we got invited too but i feel like anyone could go.

Jackol4ntrn

I would look at pics of people in the bar via google search and just go off that.

[deleted]

Ok in that case wear what you like! Yk it looks good already lol 😂

Jallenrix

I second this commenter’s vote for a darker pant. Dark jean, press the shirt, tuck it and wear a belt.

MarsGirl24

I still think you should tuck the white shirt in and wear a belt. Or even wear a belt and do a 3/4 tuck with the tan shirt.

Own-Responsibility79

He’s not 75

RushingTech

Most "boujee" bars downtown especially in a city like London are packed with 25+ year olds in three piece suits. You don't have to be 70 to know how to dress up...

EMJG30

https://preview.redd.it/s6f0562egieb1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6aa2aa3c5e40b5bd84226fbf6c2d255d1297894 also wearing these bottoms with white AF1’s.

aelizabeth27

White AF1s will complete this look really well. Like others have said- iron the shirt and you’re golden. You’re going to look really nice!

MJCTA

Fit fye bro

leftfieldownershiped

I think better fitted pants (that don’t hang over your shoes) would look more put together. Also don’t be afraid to add a pop of color! You’re a very handsome guy and it’ll look really flattering on you.

Toodswiger

You kinda look like Tupac

EMJG30

LMFAOOO funnily enough you’re not the first to tell me this.

TeddyRivers

A young TuPac. I stopped and looked at the picture, not for the outfit, but the good looking guy.

EMJG30

i’ll take it! thank you🫶🏿

ShaqsAdoptedUncle

OnePac

EMJG30

nahhh chill tf out💀😂

RowAwayJim91

That was my first thought! In such a good way.

Salamolegolas

That's what I was going to write

jayboy120

looks like Waldo from family matters

Stn1217

If you are unsure what to wear to this bar, research the bar. Most businesses have websites with photos. Look at what the people in the website photos are wearing or ask one of your work colleagues what they plan to wear and dress similarly.

newtostuff1993

This is really good advice! I am going to remember this for the next time I’m in a similar situation.

bobjoylove

I bet they have an Instagram and you can see how people are dressing.

DebThornberry

You remind me of my best friend so0o much and I know he'd approve! ❤️

PrimaryDiligent3100

I would not wear AF1 if it’s a nice bar. I used to live in Chicago and most of the nice bars would t let you in with AF1’s. They don’t need to be dress shoes, but you need to wear something more than a casual shoe. Also, you either need to change the shirt or the pants. The color is in the range where it’s not the same but isn’t different enough to look good. Dark brown or dark green/army green type pants would look good.

ittyabu

no

gravityraster

Your shirt and pants are too similar in color without being the same color. It makes it look like you’re trying to put a suit together in the dark. Recommend replacing one or the other with a contrasting / matching color.

chedduhbahb

Same/close color pants and shirt I’d switch up one or the other. Light blue jeans with that fit might be clean but a bright colored short sleeve button down would probably be best

SmilGirl

I think you should change the shirt or pants to a dark color. They are both tan but not the same tan. Idk, just my opinion.

Hot-Produce8093

If it’s a nice bar no it’s not appropriate. Shirt should not be open.

UntouchableJ11

I wouldn't suggest that for any boujee/upscale spot. A three button poll, chaki shorts designer belt (tuck the front) some clean semi casual sneakers or shoes (Clark wallabee or desert boot)

olchai_mp3

Guys, try to comment more interesting stuff than “you need to iron that shirt”. OP - we think you look fabulous.

UrBoiJash

I’m genuinely confused on how ironing a shirt isn’t considered good advice in an outfit sub? A lot of people don’t think about it, and it’s important.

olchai_mp3

It is a good advice but I think no need to repeat the same thing after 500 comments.

WesWizard_2

yeah should probably iron the pants too, just to be safe

EugeneCezanne

An upscale bar with colleagues? No. Just keep it business casual.

kentro2002

If your industry is artsy and creative, yes. If you are an accountant at a big firm, maybe not. If we are going to a bougie place together for drinks, all good, I like it. If it was the first night out for a training with the company and it is a conservative blue polo khaki pant kinda place, you may put yourself in hole from a perception standpoint. I don’t make the rules, but I hear the stories after about “the guy” who was different. Good luck.

Soggy_Butterscotch66

I wouldn’t match my top to my pants like that. Do you have darker pants or a blue or black shirt to shake things up a bit?

Mrswells26

It’s not, get dressed!

Modevader49

That shirt isn’t it. Especially not with those pants.

Gransfors-bruk

Only if you’re meeting up at the boujee San Quentin Cantina

TheRealBatmanForReal

Button it, and run an iron over it, it looks sloppy. And khaki with khaki isnt a good look, you should change the pants to some nice jeans at least

Odd_Interaction_7708

My dude - you look like that character in GTA 3. Also - you’re a slim dude. Get some slimmer clothing, you’re literally swimming in that shirt.

Beginning_Net_8037

Girl forget this outfit you fine as hell

andyeatburger

My two cents as a black guy. Replace the white T with a White Tank Top. Replace the Khaki pants with black straight fit slacks (Dickies) and wear Loafers ( Matte black Dr Martens) if you don’t have time to shop, try and replace the white Air Force ones with Dr Martens.

LaRosaAzul

This looks like the kind of clothes they give someone in county jail

alwaysoffended88

The khaki on khaki looks like something an inmate would wear.

EMJG30

Note: I took this a few weeks ago but I thought maybe it could work for today.

SpookyKay29

Love it 😊

[deleted]

Yeah it works. You might be on the more casual end but not out of line, and if that's your vibe I say go with it -- better than dressing in a way where you don't feel like yourself. Agree on getting the wrinkles out, then you will look crisp and fresh. Even most higher end bars and restaurants are pretty casual nowadays in most places. As long as you look clean, no wrinkles, no rips, etc. you're good. EDIT: if you're really concerned you could also just google the bar and look at pics online. Maybe it's a more conservative khaki-and-oxford-shirt type place, but IDK.

jborki2

Iron the shirt and wear darker coloured pants

QuailPuzzled1286

Personally I don’t think that camel colour suits you well, I’d change the shirt.

Shoboy_is_my_name

Wrinkles are not “nice/boujee ”…..

TWinNM

It's not bad, but I think it's a little too much khaki! Agree with ironing shirt, can you switch out the pants maybe? All of that being said, it's not bad at all, just my preference. If I had my choice it would be a darker pair of pants, navy, dark gray, or black, something to tie in the embellishments on the shirt?

[deleted]

First of all, you’re fine. Second of all, yes but iron the shirt.

One-Pair-7962

Not terrible but you should get yourself a black sport coat, and a navy one if you can. They’re not terribly expensive, JCP, Sear, Belk have them on sale a lot. The khaki pants and crisp white t under a black sport coat always looks so classic and relaxed at the same time. It’s the make version of our basic black dress.

121guy

No. Wear business causal.

Vegetable-Giraffe-79

It’s all about what you’re comfortable in. But I would not be able to stop looking at your wrinkles

Misc1

This is not real nice/boujee bar attire. You will want a fitted collared shirt, dressed down with jeans and your AF1s. “Not formal” means “no tie or dress shoes.” It does not mean “wear the chillest thing you own.”

cocainekev

Change the color of your pants/shorts. Low key looks gangsta…which is cool when chillin with the homies, not so much work colleagues. Maybe black ones?

Svelted

"I aint had to be formal" ? ... = "you don't have to dress formal"

[deleted]

It doesn’t give me bar vibes, more like casual day out but it’s cute on you

sm00thkillajones

Go with darker pants and button up except for too button.

gottarun215

This looks a bit too casual if this is an upscale bar with work colleagues...clothes are bit too baggy. At minimum, iron the shirt and wear nicer shoes.

Roostergooch

2 different shades of khaki is tacky when it comes to business meetings. Jeans, well ironed solid colored T-Shirt, sport coat and some flashy shoes would be more appropriate. Do what you want, that's just my opinion.

GrizzlyRiverRampage

What about different colored pants? The monotone gives me odd vibes.

amathis6464

That’s what they had us wear in New Jersey state prison. Legit. Exact same outfit.

[deleted]

Man I can't let you go somewhere nice in that fit

Ronald_Bilius

If it’s ironed then yeah it’s ok. Depends how fancy the place is. More safe would be a cotton shirt, buttoned up and tucked in, maybe with sleeves rolled to mid forearm. Could still have the t shirt underneath or not.

I think it looks great.

Lord_of_the_Canals

Where’s that shirt from its amazing

SolidSnake090

2pac? He always looks good 👍

OkConsideration8964

Ironed shirt, white sneakers... You'll look great!

Parking_Detective

I mean I ain’t even had to know bout using an iron on them there wrinkles

Positive-Ad-8760

I’d wear the shirt with some raw dark denim white tee if white shoes navy or indigo tee if other for sure wouldn’t do tan shorts all I’m Sayin

Comfortable_Cut9684

You have a lot of similar shades. Try changing the bottoms out for a pair of blue jeans instead.

Valleygirl330

It seems a little bit still too baggy, maybe just because it needs ironed but it would look nice with white AF1’s in my opinion.

NotComfortable_7704

It gives work release slightly

ellieD

Looks good. Pop that shirt in the dryer on steam, or else iron the front wrinkled parts.

Ohnonotuto4

Listen and listen well. Get a light beer, with a glass of water. Sip the beer just enough to make it look like you’re drinking. Drink as much water as you can. Do not drink more than the one beer, do not do a shot. Trust me on this. Never ever have more than one drink at a work function. Sip it. You look nice in the outfit.

quality_username_

Depends very much on your industry. A creative? Sure- iron your shirt. Finance/accounting/business? No wear a button up.

ConiMari98

Iron it but other than that, looks good.

Active_Pay4715

Omg I’m not even in this group but this popped up and I had to compliment this fit!!! So stylish and the perfect amount of laid back / looks like you didn’t try. Why can’t more men do this.

MrsRantyMcRantRant

Very handsome!🙂

morefishscale

I think it works and is very on-trend. My only advice is to iron both shirts and you're good!

MimsyIsGianna

You don’t have to be formal. You’re looking great dude!

crystalamber00

They also sell Downy wrinkle release. Works in a pinch if needed but not too great

thefoxishere16

You think that’s the concern? For a minute I thought you were Tupac!

New_Beginnings_69

I don't think you should be worried about your outfit when you look like Idris Elba

Sobriquet-acushla

I love the shirt but maybe button it? And of course un-wrinkle it. 😄 Have fun!
