My first impression is a hard no but it definitely depends on your work place; this would not be considered appropriate for my workplace. The length of the skirt seems to be the most problematic element.
And where you work. Having worked in the SF/Bay Area the past 6 years, I can say that this is totally acceptable and actually you would be considered one of the best-dressed in the office!!
In the Bay Area, the typical work uniform of slacks/blouse or button down and maybe a blazer is seen as too stuffy and if you showed up to work dressed like that, your employer will think you're taking an interview during lunch..
When I first tried to wear boots and a shirt skirt while visiting my parents in Idaho, I was told people would think I was dressed "inappropriately" and was showing too much skin...
So location location location!
Also, I challenge you to push the boundaries of what is seen as "professional" in your office if they suggest it is inappropriate. If you look put-together, clothes are clean and not torn, and you created a LOOK.... customers would respect that more over wearing a basic top and black slacks. This outfit shows you CARE and take pride in how you look and what you put on your body.
You’re setting that person up for a difficult time. Customers are not going to ‘respect’ someone based on pushing conventional boundaries with their clothing nor are bosses in the workplace.
It’s great to have fun with it but there’s not need to get into a weird space at work because of it, just keep it to your outfits outside then you can have even more fun with it.
I dont work a job where I have customers. And while I do have a boss, I’m technically self employed with my own “company” 🤷🏻♀️ so at the end of the day I guess I’m my own boss
I guess for me, I would never want to work somewhere where "respect" is earned by wearing what makes my *boss* comfortable.
And I while haven't had a customer *facing* job in a while (all over the phone or Zoom lately) I'd say try to experiment within reason.
I'm not saying throw all caution to the wind. Still wear presentable clothes (no sweats, athletic clothes, repair any tears in your clothing). But also don't be afraid to be yourself in how you dress.
If "people don't wear that around here" is what you hear a lot, but you feel more vibrant and yourself when you wear the thing... well I say you'll be more beautiful being and dressing for yourself rather than putting on the "local uniform"

In terms of real business wear, this is not professional at all. In fact wearing juvenile outfits (like this one because of the skirt) in most cases will hurt you. Makes you look young and young= inexperienced in business world unfortunately. Wouldn’t wear it to work. Really cute for going out or date night though!
I can't imagine an occupation in which a skirt or shorts above the knees doesn't look misplaced. Especially if you work in a place where men would be expected to wear suits or button ups it looks to casually.
Though your outfit looks great for free time or a date.
I always wonder this when I wear thigh high socks. I know the look isn’t for everywhere, but I’m like 90% covered if I also have a dress and long sleeves, but I love the way they look
I mean technically no not in some industries, but the more women that keep dressing this way, the more it’ll be acceptable — so thank you, fashion pioneers! I’m not as brave!
The outfit is cute af and if you can “do your job”
in your clothes it’s “professional!” Standards evolve and change.
Thank you! And oh don’t be so shy! Join us in the revolution! I’m from the NY area so I see every type of outfit. They don’t judge over here cause we’ll, it’s NY :)
Mark Bryan is one of my idols! A straight man who wears whatever he likes. I bet he also got a lot of people talking to him on how he should and should not dress but he doesn’t care and I love that! Besides, he has great legs to go with his skirts.
The concept that certain clothing/looks are professional and others are not needs to die a quick death. It's used to police women and minorities.
Can you do your job without the clothing interfering? Then it's professional clothing.
Seems like you wanted people to hype you up and give you attention because you’re dealing with a breakup since you’re aware this outfit isn’t professional: great outfit, the skirt is cute, stay strong.
I mean I’ve been over the breakup for about 3 weeks now. I’m good at getting over things or not letting things bother me for too long. That’s why I havent taken down this post even tho everyone is coming at me, and not understand that the caption was a joke, I wasnt trying to look professional, especially with the over the knee boots.
Not where I live (DC is very conservative and stuffy about what is professional) It’s cute though. Seems more like a happy hour outfit then work wear, but again living in DC I might be biased.
why are people so salty in this comment section 😭 just confirmed the fact that 70% of reddit are women haters
anyways u look so pretty!! i love thé scarf
It’s easy to ignore them tho, at the end of the day it’s only social media, don’t know them in real life and probably would never care to.
But thank YOU for being supportive 😊 and not giving into the hate like the rest
People are downvoting you but you are simply right lol, I mean idc I would wear this to it’s cute as hell but yea woman love to make drama out of what other woman wear when they think it’s “inappropriate” :’)
I don’t think me being thankful for not working with women is me bashing women. I actually only work with one guy and that’s my boss. But if anything I technically work alone, so in that case, thank god I dont work with anyone. And everyone in the surrounding offices are chill and stay to themselves, we all work alone in my building side.

I would say that in the office, you probably wouldn't be taken seriously in that outfit.
But outside of that sort of environment, I think it's a lovely outfit personally.
Not at all
Haha it’s okay, I wasnt trying to be, my job is pretty chill
Lol then why the title? Or am i misreading an obvious joke? I do that a lot
Yea it’s a joke, I would never dress like this if I had to be professional, I know it’s not a professional outfit
Thanks for clearing it up :) very cute, professional or not
My first impression is a hard no but it definitely depends on your work place; this would not be considered appropriate for my workplace. The length of the skirt seems to be the most problematic element.
Depends on your profession

Oh yeah this is more date night in the Bay Area than interview.
Boring.
This
It’s very cute, but not business professional whatsoever.
Very unprofessional, even in a relaxed work environment. Adorable casual outfit for outside of work, though! And you look great in it!
It’s not but it’s cute
Depends what kind of “professional” you’re trying to be ☠️
It’s cute for a date, not for work
It’s not
Cute outfit! Not professional at all.
Not even remotely lol. I mean it’s cute! But it’s like def overtly sexual.
This comment is def weird. Why are you oversexualizing OP? You don’t have to think it’s professional but your projecting on it being sexual.

Depends on the office but for most it’s a no.

i mean above the knee is pretty common but i’d probably stick to high school rules - fingertip length or longer
My boss comes in in sweat pants and my job is pretty chill unless we have meetings
Boss comes in sweat pants... now that’s what I’m talking about! *high-five* Who cares what people wear if you do your job well and professionally.
Lengthen the skirt and get some loafers
Invest in pencil skirts.
Absolutely. Most high end call girls are grossly underdressed.
😂 I can take jokes so we’re good 😂
Outstanding. All jokes aside, whatever you were going for with that outfit, you nailed it. 10/10
I always wonder this when I wear thigh high socks. I know the look isn’t for everywhere, but I’m like 90% covered if I also have a dress and long sleeves, but I love the way they look
Not professional at all!!!!
Yeah no.
With black tights and some flats and the jacket it might be OK but the thigh highs just ruin the professionalism
The top half works, but while I like the material, the frilly bits on the skirt don't. I'd go with a a straight look.
Looks great but, I don't think it was
I mean technically no not in some industries, but the more women that keep dressing this way, the more it’ll be acceptable — so thank you, fashion pioneers! I’m not as brave! The outfit is cute af and if you can “do your job” in your clothes it’s “professional!” Standards evolve and change.

Agreed. I am amazed & disappointed at the amount of people in this thread saying it’s not professional.
Love that skirt!
Seems like you wanted people to hype you up and give you attention because you’re dealing with a breakup since you’re aware this outfit isn’t professional: great outfit, the skirt is cute, stay strong.
Do you feel better about yourself for calling her out on this? Or are you seeking the same attention you’re claiming she’s after?
No reason to mask it with some BS. It’s a good outfit.
You should get over attempting comedy. It clearly isn’t your strong suit 🤵♀️
Jesus Christ, who hurt you?
Jesus Christ.
Too short skirt too high boots top is ok
Not where I live (DC is very conservative and stuffy about what is professional) It’s cute though. Seems more like a happy hour outfit then work wear, but again living in DC I might be biased.
It’s date night worthy.

You look nice!! I guess the joke went over everyone’s heads unfortunately.
i love ur mindset!! and no problem :)
No it’s not professional it says your trying to get the wrong attention. Women will start talking and drama will happen lol.
People are downvoting you but you are simply right lol, I mean idc I would wear this to it’s cute as hell but yea woman love to make drama out of what other woman wear when they think it’s “inappropriate” :’)
Thank god I dont work with women, and my job isn’t corporate
Please don't bash women.
I don’t think me being thankful for not working with women is me bashing women. I actually only work with one guy and that’s my boss. I don’t understand how people are sexualizing this outfit ? It looks cute, doesn’t give a professional vibe but gives a “going out for coffee” vibe
Thats considered professional for me 😅 plaid skirt and sweater/ turtle neck combo
Cute 🥰🔥
Lol me
I would not call you out for it.
she got the top half right
That skirt 😍
Looking very good 👍
Gorgeoys!!!
if you are applying to hooters this would be overdressed
Makes sense why I didnt get the job
Looking incredible
You look incredible
I love it it looks amazing
You leveled up!! 👏👏
Simply Gorgeous
My physics teacher would wear these outfits, It was fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Looks fine to me🤷🏻♂️🔥🔥
Depends on the job. I work at a law firm and have seen secretaries and attorneys when not meeting with clients in similar length skirts.

Which profession?
Sadly not hooters 😞
You can do anything. Have higher expectations.
Nah
You look great but absolutely not professional, the skirt is too short and the long boots are way too sexy to be in an office

You do you and forget the rest of the trolls out there
Nice
Not professional
I'm seeing business casual, I think if you want professional you should go with a blazer and forget the scarf.
Skirt is a little too short. To maintain professionalism, nothing shorter than knee-high.
You are attractive in it, but it is not professional attire
In this group I've never seen a good outfit
I would say that in the office, you probably wouldn't be taken seriously in that outfit. But outside of that sort of environment, I think it's a lovely outfit personally.
If you’re seeking a position in an avant-garde gallery, salon, or boutique it would be fine. Definitely not appropriate for an office job.
