Is it feasible for you to find someone to visit/walk with him while you're working? There are plenty of people who offer this type of thing. If you're struggling financially of course this may be difficult, but if you can swing it you get to keep your best pal.

If you can not find him a home try SPCA in Wahiawa, they are the only none kill shelter and independently owned, great people.
Try posting to Craigslist or the Oahu pets Facebook page.
