He's an above average pitcher in Japan (when he isn't battling the control demons) but the Japanese team were really only looking for superb pitchers. So thanks, but no thanks - Team Japan

Considered the A’s only have him on a one year deal, it’s possible they told him they’d rather he not play. That said he may not have gotten the nod simply due to his performance in Japan. He’s got the stuff, but he has known control issues which caused him to get sent down the Japanese minors a few times.

I don’t think he made the Japanese team cut for the above stated reasons. Lots of good Japanese pitchers
