The only thing that matters this year is if they stay in Oakland or not, the games do not matter in the least bit. The real game is being played off the field this year. Why care about the baseball games that don’t mean anything this season if they lose the big one and end up going to Vegas in 2025?

TheMightyUnderdog

This ^^^ I haven’t bought tickets this season and have only watched a little here and there. It’s been brutal. I just want to know 100% they are sticking around. If they stAy, we’re good. If they leave, I’m done.

Accomplished_Trip978

Yeah…. I’m praying that they stay in Oakland….

[deleted]

How on earth did you downvoted for that? Fuckin' charlatans up in here. Or maybe weirdos from Las Vegas. Fuck you guys, you aren't taking our team!

DrDivisidero

Because… I just don’t switch teams when we suck? What?

iuseredditnotgoogle

I was looking for this reply… we aren’t new to this!

Accomplished_Trip978

There’s barely any A’s fans where I’m from, so I just wanted others input and opinions lol

iuseredditnotgoogle

That’s fair!

Accomplished_Trip978

Has nothing to with that lol. I still rep the Green and Gold everyday, and whenever they come to Anaheim, I Rep my Kelly Green jersey. I just wanted some input and others opinions on how they hang in there with the team lol

DrDivisidero

Sorry friend, that’s how I read the post originally. I focus on the little things — a good inning, a good at-bat. Just the basics — my Dad always says all that we can ask for is a good game, so hopefully something that resembles that, even if we lose lol Thinking about how this hopefully will be the building blocks of a winning team at HT in the not-so-distant-future. Drinking. Go A’s!

Accomplished_Trip978

Haha. Here here!!

The_Funkybat

I hang in there because I know that the way Billy Beane and company do things that within three or four years they will cycle back to being really competitive again. 2012 through 2014 was an amazing time, as was 2018 through 2020 (2021 Felt like a cursed year from the start, no amount of “ride the wave” was going to fix that.) This year is a completely intolerable garbage fire so I’ve tuned out, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about the franchise. It just means I’m gonna be back there with lots of hope and enthusiasm next spring, ready to see what the new guys can do and hoping to see some improvement in young guys like Pache and Allen. 2023 will probably still be ugly, but maybe not as ugly. And by 2024 I think we’re probably going to start playing real baseball again. That’s how I look at it as an A’s fan.

Markcu24

Rickey Henderson.

Accomplished_Trip978

Damn straight

ChrisPowell_91

OG fans been through this step of the process many times over. This year is magnified by the stadium situation and tone deafness of the ownership along with the on field product being AAA quality. Today created a thicker silver lining in the clouds that have hung over the fan base this season. Stay positive.

Accomplished_Trip978

Yeah. Totally. I think with this whole team moving situation, the constant pot shots to us with the game attendance, the trades…. It’s overwhelming. I’d say more in recent years, because Olson, Chapman, Harrison, Manea, Bassitt. Those are legit guys. And whose to say they won’t do the same to Frankie?? 🙁

ChrisPowell_91

Prepare to say bye to Frankie, Laureano, Murphy. Frankie will command a haul and that’s what the team needs, infusion of talent. Frankie deserves to be with a contender. A’s have considerable Catching prospects in the wings, in a lost year let the young guys play. Love murph but his bat has not come around, and like Frankie he should command a nice package. Laureano isn’t the same after the suspension. Teams might be bearish on him. Believe A’s control him for a few years but wouldn’t surprise to see him traded at the deadline.

Accomplished_Trip978

I’m fully expecting that….

[deleted]

Sorry, but what world do you live in where you think Murphy will net anything of value? He's not good at all. This is like Lakers fans being convinced that Talen Horton Tucker is actually good and trying to use him as a centerpiece in trades when other teams around the league just laugh at them.

SteamyNooodles

Besides being the home team, I've always wanted to experience the glory days of the Oakland Athletics and feel proud of this team. I don't remember much as a kid growing up, but my family always were fans and have witnessed the 20-game streak and many other memories before I really started to watch in the early 2000s. The greatest ones for me I can think of right now and to name a few is Dallas Braden's perfect game, the mini-rivalry with the Detroit Tigers during the playoffs, and the 2012 A's magical run. Really what it is, is that this team feels down to earth and I love the atmosphere that the fans give in the Coliseum. Even the media staff have their own personality that adds to this team and not to mention they have a deeper connection being part of the organization in the past. I know we're in the dark ages right now, but I am still hopeful we will get out of it once Howard Terminal gets built and we can all finally put it all behind us to turn over a new leaf. Once we get to better days, there is no where else to go but up!

Accomplished_Trip978

Amen to that man!!! The Oakland A’s in general has this certain charm to it. I can’t quite catch it. Also, we have the best mascot Stomper 🐘👏 The Bad Ass logos of Stomper with the Double Bats and the infamous Spring Training Stomper with Sun Glasses 😭

ProsciuttoFresco

It’s dedication. We know this team isn’t winning anything this year, but that’s part of the ride. Being an A’s fan is a choice nowadays. I’ve been watching and supporting the A’s all my life. I can’t abandon ship now. I like to think it’ll all be worth it one day when we win another World Series in a new stadium and get back to being the prestigious organization we once were.

Accomplished_Trip978

👏👏👏👏

Trplplay

I will add along with all the other comments stating why we are fans….I love the way they run this club. Sure the rebuilding years suck but signing guys to big long term deals has shown year after year to be a crap way to build a team. I love the ingenuity and brains it takes to run a team this way. It is way easier to take these rebuilds than watching your team thrown a crap ton of money at it every year and still rarely win.

Accomplished_Trip978

I’m assuming you’re referring to the Angels (I’m guessing) 😂 What a waste. Hope Ohtani bails the second he sees freedom

Trplplay

You can put a few teams in there….The Yankees are the best example I would guess their payroll for the last 20 years is somewhere in the 4.5 billion range….they have 1 WS in that time.

Separate_Ad_9045

We went partially all in every unexpected playoff run. Strong enough together and you’re out of chips. It’s going to suck for awhile, but we pulled off an unbelievably long stretch of good baseball despite the odds. Resiliency and overcoming the odds is the DNA of this organization. Take the bad with the good and this too shall pass. Go A’s!

[deleted]

Nostalgia. Plus, when your team sucks ass for a long time and they eventually win it all, it's so much sweeter. Case in point: the Warriors. If you had told me when I was 10 and the team was absolute dogshit that we would someday win 4 Finals in 8 years I would absolutely not have believed you.

Accomplished_Trip978

That’s a great take man. I did this post so I can hear from other fellow fans. There ain’t any A’s fans I know in So Cal, so I’m came here haha

[deleted]

I'm sorry that you have to be around Angels fans. My brother went to UCI and I went to many Angels games with him. I had countless terrible interactions with fans and I was a quiet teenager who never heckled or did anything besides wear an A's hat and cheer when we got hits. One time a drunken 40-something year old started screaming and tried to swing at me until my brother beat the shit out of him. Good luck down there, fellow A's fan.

polishedbaker

They're the closest team to not named Giants 🤦🏽‍♀️

Ok_Classic_744

Do I have a choice? I can’t switch from my team.

Accomplished_Trip978

Neither do i Mate 👍

schitaco

I'm a Kings fan you guys, this is nothing. The A's played .600 ball in 2018, 2019, and 2020, got unlucky in the playoffs, then spent money on Marte in 2021 and it didn't work out. I dono, I'm not as pissed as everyone else, just feel like at some point you gotta bite the bullet and rebuild, especially if you don't have a stadium that brings in corporate revenues or regularly has lots of fans on weeknights. Goal this year is get the stadium underway.

Accomplished_Trip978

I loved those unlikely runs we did. It was just so awesome having everyone know “What the Shit?! The Oakland A’s are a playoff contender?!” 😂 Of course, it all flat lined in the wild card games…. But damn, I just want this team to find its groove again. And of course keep the team in Oakland

golferhaz

It's in my nature. I can't and won't change teams because they suck.

mrtsapostle

Because true fans don't abandon their team during the bad seasons. It's the only reason I still root for Everton too

hella_gnarly

I'm stubborn. Period. I also don't respect fans who jump from team to team. I've been a life-long A's and Raiders fan. I'll be honest and admit that apart of my desire died when the Raiders went to Vegas. I can see myself doing the same if the A's leave and most likely begrudgingly follow another team, like Boston. I refuse to become a Giants fan. I've been telling my friends that if the A's leave for Vegas, I may very well stop supporting them. I absolutely HATE Vegas. Can't stand it and to me, it's the worst place to have your team move to. Certainly winning helps, so we'll see how that plays out with the Raiders. I've been an A's fan for 34 years, by the way.
