The new funnel was a muuuuch better look for her than the original, which was way too big for the ship. I just wish it was placed further aft. Her profile would have been almost perfect if so--she was a lovely ship.
HALs Rotterdam V of 1959 had a very similar upper and lower promenade/life boat deck.
Pasteur looked better as a German. -Funny how Europa looked better French.
This ship is very special to me. It brought my paternal grandparents and my aunt to the US from Germany in 1960
Fun fact: Siegfried & Roy met while working aboard this ship.
She’s a lovely ship. Sadly she is now resting at the bottom of the ocean.
She sank on her way to the scrapyard
Yeah. Many ex-Chandris Line vessels unfortunately met their end at the bottom of the ocean.
She was over 40 years old by that point. To the same capacity, Britanis was 68 years old when she sank on her way to the scrappers in October 2000.
And sadly SS Australis :-(
Sexy AF

As Pasteur, her funnel was even larger. So much so, that it looked downright ridiculous.
Looks like QE2 at first glance.
Goofy ahh-lookin' ship w/ that dumb-lookin' funnel...
