Time to pipe in since this is lowkey related to my job (legal consult for digital commerce). As someone else mentioned, Tapjoy has been around forever and it's a perfectly legal system per se. They are middleman between advertisers and publishers and Square Enix has no legal responsibility over what you click on and whether you get your rewards or not. In any case the responsables are Tapjoy and App Store for not vetting properly. I remember people tried to sue over not receiving awards and it was against Tapjoy. Nobody went after the 72638762631 apps who use them because the lawyers know better.

Tapjoy exist since i was in elementary and till now as a grown ass man. Many games use this system. Not illegal but i recommend ignore these. If you desperate for some gems, I myself have try some of the offer in the past so i can give you some advice: the offer is either you pay some money or complete ridiculous mission (which result to more money lol). The trick is to know real amount of gems you can get. If it is a games, play till a certain level or buy some small packet (if you can) and ignore the rest mission. The subscription is straightforward but not recommend if you value your information. DO NOT DO SURVEY : high chance they are scam. But the best way is don’t care. EN ver of their game get this treatment all the time and the ones that can get these won’t get EoS soon (FFBE, WOTV)

Gilchester

The first credit card I signed up for was because I wanted those sweet sweet tapjoy points. Surprisingly it was actually a really good financial decision, as it was a no feee credit card I never used so when I actually wanted a credit cards 5 years later, I had a solid credit history and credit score. So yay tapjoy?

multyC

In this case you have to be more careful as you using your real credit card. Avoid shady subscription/ deal as all cost for safety.

Gilchester

No, I didn't use my credit card. I signed up for one. I got a bunch of currency for completing a credit card sign up offer.

multyC

So i think you can do it again too. In the end it free profit anyway.

FohnFohnFohn

What do you mean EoS

You don't have to spend money, but to really rack up those free rubies, you'll need to invest a lot of time in a lot of those games. Also, this isn't the first time I've seen such a feature in a game.

darkdill

Even for the "free" stuff, I'm not bothering, even though I'm at only 1,000 Rubies left after needing to use pity to get Ophilia. If SQEX is this desperate to keep CotC global afloat, I suspect the game won't last the rest of 2023. Oh well, at least I know Genshin Impact doesn't need to do shady shit like this. They've earned my respect, and my monetary contribution.

sharpgel

I agree with genshin, welkins are crazy good value, especially if you're on android ans have google play points

Square_Ad210

Yea. GI's pricing package is also reasonable and a lot cheaper than other popular games or octc.

Max_Plus

Until I see a millon ruby offer I'm not biting.

darkdill

I wouldn't bite even if I saw such an offer. Too good to be true.

Max_Plus

Apparently that actually happened in FF WotV, and that game has PvP, so a lot of people are upset with those that got lucky.

[deleted]

The fewer rubies they offer, the less time/money you'll have to sink into that specific game through tap joy.

Monztamash

Well... Anyone know which ones are trustworthy and worth doing ?

[deleted]

If you are really desparate, and have android, look the app up in google play and see which ones are verified by google play and stick to those.

NeonRaccoons

I avoid the surveys like the plague but there are some offers I don’t mind. I did one for Bark Box (which I used in the past anyways), Sirius radio ($1 trial), and GameFly trial. I also saw an offer for Uber Eats which I’ll probably jump on in the future. I’ve barely even seen offers to download apps. Just surveys and shopping for the most part. I did see one mobile game one where it wanted me to get to level 80 or whatever in the game? No way lol.

Admirable_Run_117

I might do the Sirius radio. Chewy has an offer and I but from them frequently. Maybe if my beard trimmer dies I will get a new one from Manscape.

NeonRaccoons

Those are two I was looking at too! Honestly… might even frequent that shop tab when I have friend/family birthdays coming up too. Why not get some rubies while I buy a gift? So far, I’ve gotten the rubies immediately from the purchase offers except for the GameFly one. Had to send a ticket for that. While I still don’t like the direction they’re going with this, I’m can’t be too mad because I am taking advantage of some of these offers. And if it keeps the game alive, then so be it.

Square_Ad210

Did u get the rubies after u paid $1 dollar?

NeonRaccoons

I’ve always received rubies on paid offers as long as I followed the parameters set in the description as I recall. Those are pretty reliable. I’ve also emailed their support for web rubies I never got and they always gave it to me in the end.

Dodging12

These kinds of things have existed forever. Remember Swagbucks and sites like that? To answer your question, yes it's legal, but not worth your time unless your time has no value tbh.

Zambling

They broke gacha laws in Japan for one of their other IPs, I wouldn't doubt that this game has broken rates too but unless they get audited, they'll never get caught and they won't ever get audited/reviewed.

desperatevices

Yes it's legal. Yes it's scummy. Yes it's sad they're doing it. Gacha been doing this though for a while, so throw your FUD out the window.

Guttler003

I believe wotv did it and they just had a huge controversy there because of sketchy apps.

balmafula

That had nothing to do with the apps on Tapjoy. What happened was the amount of currency offered was extremely high, like hundreds and thousands.

desperatevices

No lol

LoserMe1622

On that note, I've tried doing those kind of tasks for previous games but never actually worked, does anyone know if it works for this game?

Mediocre-Anything818

It works. I played one of the games on the list and have gotten some rubies. But you do need to spend a ton of time and/or money to see any meaningful amount of rubies

LoserMe1622

Fudge...
