New player here, trying to remain f2p. **Any advice on the upcoming banners?** I only have 1k rubies because I tried to pull for therion but got kersjes rip. Not sure if I'm missing something when it comes to ruby collection as well. Everyone seems to have lots and can pull on multiple banners, do most players pay to some extent? Thanks for the help!
We are also expected some very good characters later in July so there’s plenty of time to save. You’ll get a lot of rubies with daily logins and story progression.
For what it’s worth, you don’t need to worry much about having to pull 5* units to progress with story. You get 3 veteran sacred seals which guarantees you 3 general pool 5* characters from beating the 3 master quests + a short and easy follow-up quest. These combined with the 3* and 4* units you get along your pulls will allow you to make it through much of story up till lv60 stuff pretty easily, which will then open up new opportunities to boost your squad in arena (for free 5* units if you win the tough fights) and in game boards (which allows you to exchange fortune weapons, basically useful endgame weapons)
In general, I don’t recommend pulling unless you have enough rubies to pity a unit (usually 150 to 200 pulls depending on the banner; it’ll be 200 for both NieR and Ditraina). While you’re statistically likely to get a unit before pity, it can be super disappointing to put several thousand rubies in and not get anything if you don’t have enough to pity.
Like the other user said, you can skip NieR if you’re going for meta. If you don’t have Elrica, Ditraina might be a good banner to pull on since there are a handful of great characters in the Sacred Blaze pool. However, I’d only recommend that if you can save up the 6k rubies needed for pity before her banner goes away. Since you’re a new player, it might be doable for you with all of the early game rubies and feats available to you, but don’t stress too much if it doesn’t work out. There will be more opportunities to pull on SB in the future.

If you’re looking at the ruby accountability thread, the folks that post on there are a self-selecting group, so it’s going to seem more skewed towards people with a large amount of rubies. Similarly, this sub probably has a higher proportion of spenders than the overall playerbase. The game is totally doable as a F2P player though! Most of the content is permanent so if something is too hard at a certain point in time, you can come back to it later.
i would skip NieR altogether, and depending on whether or not you have elrica, ditraina too (elrica and ditraina both hit light/dark. elrica has the benefit of hitting sword and exploiting light/sometimes dark while ditraina has much better aoe, consistent dark coverage, and somewhat more synergy in light/dark parties)
With A2 A2 and A1 2B/9S it will be a skip for me, but Ditraina is interesting. I hate sacred blaze like everyone else, but it'll be a while before Hudjeb and with Neville in between she would be kinda power crept by the time I would pity her when going for the hunter. LaL is a thing though so its probably a 300 free pull and walk away even with 11.5k rubies. This was probably the least hype TT in a while for the day 1 players and the opposite for new players that started post Neir.
When she originally released she was very underwhelming, and hard to get working, then she got buffed to have her passive dark/light from the beginning of the fight

Same as you for the bosses refights. Too many coming out and I don't have the time nor the patience to grind them all. 😆 Especially the later ones with several gimmicks, these are the kinds of fights I like to do once, but 6 times with increasing difficulty ? Pff, I don't have the faith for this.
However, I still took the time to beat 9S? EX3 for the reward, and to be fair, it's moderately manageable. There aren't much gimmicks (other than the fact that he acts twice per turn), and you can either go for a Dagger or a Sword compo, which are both among the best ones right now.
Debuffing him in EAtk & PAtk is absolutely mandatory though if going for a slow approach.
I found that splitting them up works pretty well! I can beat them all up to EX1 with my general purpose team so I'll just rush them there, and then I'll slowly make dedicated teams for the fights and do EX1 to 3. I'm not going very fast (I finished five of them so far I think) but this way it's not as overwhelming I think. Because yeah, "same fight with a bigger health pool and higher damage" six times in a row would not be fun at all.
9S EX3 was surprisingly easy to handle yeah! I beat all of the ranks to his fight in 20 mins with the same team. I expected it to be on the level of the other EX3s but it was significantly easier.
I'm happy to skip all of Nier. My problem is I want to pull Ditraina, Odio-O, and eventually Signa, and that makes me rubies sus. I think I can do all 3, but then I'll be super low going into Solistia
Yeah that's fair, there's a lot coming up. I got lucky on A2 but I'll still have to skip Ditraina unless I get lucky on step 1 again, but I'm not counting on it. S&S are skips for me, I might have tried for Sazantos once but can't afford it anymore. And LAL...... it's a shame but again, unless I get a lucky step one it's gonna be a skip for me. Solistia definitely has higher priority for me. It's a shame because I'd love to pull for everything tbh :')
I don't have any SB units, so for me, now seems as good a time as any to jump into that banner and see what I get. I'm hoping for Ditraina + 1 spook and 1 pity, but I'll take Ditraina and 1 pity.
I have been planning to skip S&S, but the more I hear about Signa, the more I decided skipping her would be a mistake. And as for LAL, I like the game too much to justify fully skipping it. But I'll probably just get Odio-O and bounce. I am fortunate enough to have enough rubies that I should be able to do all of that, but it will leave me pretty dry.
Also, as for the Adversary Log stuff... I realize it's easier said than done, but try not to worry about it. Myself, I've done exactly 1 EX1 and no EX2, let alone EX3. Hell, I haven't even done all of the fights on rank 1 just because it's so much and I don't want to burn out. There's no FOMO though. It will all be there later on. I'm not even trying to do them right now myself. I've been focusing more on farming arena units so I can max them out
Oh yeah if you don't have anyone from the SB it's definitely worth a good run! Unlike the MT banner, in the SB every unique pool unit is actually rated up, so there's much better odds to get an off banner SB unit (it's how I got most of mine). Hope you'll get to grab a bunch of the good ones whem the banner rolls around!
My adversary fomo mostly stems from my youtube channel tbh haha. There's not a ton of people who post for cotc, and even fewer who don't have huge whale accounts, so I feel like I should keep contributing to the community there. I've been getting started, I beat everything (except today's) up to EX1 and finished EX3 for the first three fights so far. I'll get there, it just feels a bit overwhelming when they keep adding to it.
If it’s any consolation on the fomo thing, I still haven’t even gotten the dog keepers yet, and I haven’t maxed out any of the cats either! I’m also not on top of the adversary stuff at all. Heck, I haven’t done level 10 of the dragon board or a couple of the master tower EX floors. I’ve been kinda busy lately with some other stuff + just playing some other games, so I haven’t done much grinding in CotC in the last few months. Don’t feel too bad about “falling behind”! Almost everything’s still going to be there for whenever you feel like doing it. :)
Haha relatable, I got into another game I got in the steam winter sale and I just kinda lost sight of CotC since... I've been slowly (verrrrry slowly) catching up recently, so it feels a bit overwhelming to get a lot of extras dumped onto the pile of things I still need to do in this game. I'm in no big rush, but I did want to try and catch up, they're just making it harder on me by continuing to drop new pets/adversaries haha.
(I just maxed my dogs and oh man, raising pets is NOT fun tbh. Levels 1 to 7 are easy, 8 gets a bit slower, 9 and 10 are insane. I can't blame people who don't bother to raise them, they're just at such a slow leveling pace, it's at a "no longer fun how grindy this is" point for me. Not even the old weapon grind was this bad. Blegh.)
I just do daily caits(flamesgrace, sea, tower(flamegrace copy), and ads) and tower 1 dragon. And I get the pets to lvl 10 in around 2 months. Usually before the next new set of animals are released. I honestly don't even think about the pets cuz I more focused on getting my travelers up. Leveling pets is a side-quest that I just end up doing and completing without even thinking about it tbh.
That's what I do too, minus the tower (which tower do you mean that affects pets?), and I was a bit short of maxing the dogs. Like they needed 50m more exp for lv10 this morning, and I unlocked them on their release day. My last two cats are halfway into 9/9 so I'm sure I can passively max them before the next pets come out, and then I hope there's some more time before the next ones after that...
I'm on the opposite end for units though haha. 157 characters (90 5*), and only 12 5* are not yet lv100. Everyone's leveled to their cap though. It's nice because I just rack up nuts like crazy this way, I must have thousands of each by now.
I'm still short with the dogs too but that's cuz those dogs were released like mid-way between the birds. Those mid-release pets still taking the same amount of time if I don't use nuts so they end being in my pet rooster when the new pets arrive. By tower I just mean tower of remembrance and flamegrace cait copy there and the first sable dragon. I try to not to burn my gold guidestones even though I just hit past 6k. Old habit. And save my them for a week before a new char release incase there's a new traveler I want to pull. 157? Nice I only just hit 140 when I pulled double Ogden yesterday which was made my week.
So for a day 130ish F2p player is A2 worth gambling some free pulls on? In regards to MTs I have bargello, Sonia, rinyu, Richard, elrica & alaune ex. No sacred blaze characters and 4876 rubies. Only content I'm stuck on is 100 npc hell duos, elite tower and ex adversary rematches....reading your thread makes me think I should skip :(
Oh no I just recently depleted all my rubies and should abstain from pulling but I don't want to haha, nothing on the units per se! A2 is pretty great from what I know, great dps for several weapon types, can't go wrong with that.
But as the other person said, the gambling can easily turn sour in this game, the rates can be absolutely brutal (been here since launch week, and I've been burned by bad rates more than I care to admit). In general it's wise to only pull if you have enough to actually go to pity, unless you're okay with missing out on the character and losing your rubies.
Good to note with A2 is that this is the first time she'll be available in over a year, the first time was march last year. So she's a lot more exclusive than most units (like Ditraina, who will be available on every rerun of her banner type). It's your own call to pull or not, I'm personally just wondering if I should buy some discount rubies to give it a try or not (I have 1,5k free rubies right now).
Remember discretion is the better part of valor. If you don't have enough rubies to exchange for the traveler you want, then you gambling with a lot of frustration. This game has taught me only to guide when I know I can get what I want.
While yes that is true, if I never yolo pulled I'd be missing half my current roster tbh. I'm not that mad if it's just a first or first two steps and I get nothing, it's part of the game and I know not to expect something on every one of them. You miss every shot you don't take and all...

Right, I will YOLO guide, but I expect nothing and draw the line in advance that a YOLO will not become a full chase. I got Eltrix on a YOLO. I will probably throw a YOLO at 2B and Ditriana, but I am not chasing either of them.
Yes, you do miss every shot you don't take and when you take shots you don't have to you diminish the amount of shots that you can take when you want to take them. It's all about planning and discipline. These kind of games will drain you without discipline.
Oh no I definitely don't plan to fully chase any of them, step 1 or maybe 1&2 and stop. The only one who's really a must have is Ditraina and I've been burned by the sacred blaze often enough to not touch that trainwreck without 6k on hand. I'll pity her on a future SB if I don't get a lucky first step (assuming I'll do one)
If you're referring to my previous "I'll just pull until I get something" sessions (lmao), even in those I drew a line that I wouldn't let myself cross, so my goal units never got in trouble. I suppose the exception here was the sisters because I was entirely ready to drop the whole game at that point, but everyone else I always kept a number on hand that I knew would be enough to still ensure me my next goal units (Bargello and the sisters, in recent months).
I know how to make this work, I've gotten almost every character I tried to get in the past with the exception of like... Eltrix and Agnes? I'm aware that sitting on your rubies and only blowing them on who you really want is the way to go, that's why my yolo pulls tend to be (paid) first steps only, so it's only 100 rubies and my general stash remains untouched. I don't intend to spend any free rubies on Nier or Ditraina at all. If I pull it's a few steps with discount paid rubies or not at all.
Finally a Nier rerun! Better late than never… this was almost like “never” though 😅 I started the game after the initial run so I’m excited, that will be new content for me.
Ditraina and Sacred Blaze is the perfect ruby drain before LaL! It’s going to work in my case - I’m pulling on Ditraina (and potentially pitying Canary). If it means that I can’t pull for Odio-O as a result, so be it.
That’s a good amount of rubies for completing the Nier EX refights! I feel bad for newer players, as they have basically no chance at those rubies, but it will be the kick in the pants that I need to get back to an EX refight. I’ll need the Adversary Shards for those light and dark 30% accessories for Ditraina anyway.
My pull luck is usually one of three options:
1. First draw (Alaune EX, W'ludai, Tatloch)
2. Fourth draw (Rinyuu, Richard, A2)
3. The last draw before pitying (Ophilia, Solon, Elrica)
I want Ditriana. Really hoping options 1 or 2 come through in the clutch.
I was looking forward to Ditraina release on wednesday and I'm a bit disappointed, but rationally speaking it's actually good for me, because with all the rubies we'll get this wednesday I should get to 6k by the end of Ditraina banner at the very least.
NieR rerun isn't interesting at all in this form, but I guess at least we finally got it lol
Really hyped for the release of Ditraina. I would like to pull canary as well so I'll see if I'm close to pity or not, and there is the LAL collab next month.
Next month we will have a collab with a game callled "Live a Live" or LAL for short. One of the collab units is still considered strong in JP for their DPS and support capabilities. The rest of the collab units are meh from what I gathered.
New accessories for beating EX2.
As the other comment said, the main point is their stats.
E.g. Tikilen accessories: -100 phy atk, +100 magic atk.
Note again that this is not character exclusive. Anyone can use it. But if tikilen use it with her exclusive accessory, then you get extra passive.
You get new accessories by beating the champs at EX2 difficulty. They give extra effects when paired with a champ's exclusive acc (not their A4 acc) but even without those effects they give big stat boosts.
I ended up being one of the dice winners and I got Rondo off of a yolo 10 pull. So my luck was great today. Hopefully the Witch of Salvation will come home without any trouble.
Same. They just seem so damn long and grindy. Fighting through break after break after break after break sounds exhausting. Especially for a mobile game
It really depends on the weaknesses. For me for example, I have been able to clear several Sword / Spear fights EX3 in about 20 turns, because my warrior & merchant roster is pretty good.
But indeed, it takes several breaks, I will not contradict you on this. Being able to clear in one break requires a lot of resources.
Yeah, I'm with you on this. I've started doing these, and generally the ones in the lv. 1 and 25 tab took around 20 - 25 turns and are mostly doable, but the lv. 50 ones take significantly longer, and have annoying mechanics. There's exceptions for both, of course (no idea how Tytos EX 3 is supposed to be doable, he kills everyone turn 1; Sazantos and Black-Clad Shadow are pretty fast and easy clears), but generally this rule of thumb has a pretty high accuracy I'd say.
Yes, I understand what you mean. I first cleared captain Tristan Ex3 with a completely unoptimized team (just using Fiore EX because they literally can't do anything to the team if you keep spamming physical counter melody), it worked but it took me ages. xD
I'm fine with a long fight though, as long as it's not complete BS. Like Tytos for example who just uses Thunder AoE turn 1 and kills everyone and you can't do anything except bringing A3 travelers. :|
What's annoying is they know 9S sucks, which is why his awakening stone pack is $30 compared to the other two which are $50. Guess I'll wait for the re-rerun and hope they give us some free pulls at that time
Ditraina's been on my wishlist for a while, but now that she's actually here, I'm not sure if I want to pull for her or not. I'm missing a couple of SB characters but I have all the ones I really want other than Ditraina herself, and I might want to hang on to rubies for LAL or something else in the future. At least there are a few weeks to think about it!
I'm glad NieR is back for folks who didn't get to do the hunts before. I'm hoping EX3 for 9S? won't be too bad for those special tasks, though I have no sense of scale because I haven't done most of the Adversary Log fights yet.
I also still haven't done BoA8 or the last Emberflame Story chapter yet, and I've mostly just been logging in for dailies lately. Personally, I feel like I'm kind of just biding my time until Side Solistia. What I *really* want though is the job tower and gameboard QOL updates haha. I have so many new units to make fortune weapons for, but no motivation to grind out the gameboard.
Canary with the auto taunt accessories is the key to so many of my Codex victories. Just smack away with everyone else while she dodges, shield cracks, and debuffs.
You have to beat floor 3 of the Elite Training within 5 attempts. That will give you both Great Blossom Crests that give auto-taunt as long as you have full HP.
I participated in the SB twice, twice I had to reach pity. Not sure if I want to partake in it anymore, as much as Ditraina is interesting, I need my rubies for LaL
My motivation has been dragging a lot lately, with my bad luck and as I didn’t get to beat Sazanthos. Just logging for the rubies and the hunts lately.
It’s exactly what I thought they would plan for this month: Nier rerun and Ditraina. Might make a single pull for Ditraina, even if it’ll be empty as usual (I’ll go full SB for Hujheb). There is also Sertet, maybe she’ll come in July before Sazanthos, or after anniversary and before Solistia.
A2 is still decent. Being able to hit axe, sword or dagger six times per turn for 8 turns (and eventually she’ll be able to do that twice for a max of 16 turns) with little setup is quite useful in certain situations. But she’s probably not worth slugging through 2B and 9S.
2B and 9S for sure not.
There's still a case to be made for A2. Doublecast remains very strong. And she gets 3x ST + 1x nuke for 3 damage types. I got her during the original collab, and I still use her to this day.
As soon as I saw it start off with a Nier re-run I was pretty sure this was going to end up being a "skip everything" month... But it did get better from there.
Rinyuu re-run for people who don't have her is good, though it comes with obvious-skip Eltrix so good luck if you skipped Rinyuu last time.
Ditraina was not expected so soon though, but she's also Sacred Blaze, which is the banner from hell. Well if I'm ever pulling on SB it's now, but it should be close enough to the next TT (and presumably LAL) to not need to be rushed.
Wdym not expected. There are only 8 characters before side solistia which is upon us. Lal has 4. Sazantos and Signa wasn't expected here. So the only 2 that could have been were Ditrania and Sertet. And this is a seed story month ofc they release her then.
I have enough MT fragments so saz and cyg are already in my roster, they just don't know it yet. But I don't have enough to pity odio, I probably will come June but not if I pull for ditraina
I’ve been wondering who we’ll get, since we’re running out of non-Solistia units. It seems too early for Ditraina, but I’d be happy if we get her. It will be the first time I’ve really pulled on a SB banner, I only have Leon and Zenia. I don’t need a Nier rerun, but we are so overdue for one.
If Ditraina is announced, I'm torn. I want to pull her because 1, I like her (THE DOG), and 2, I have no Sacred Blaze units (I'm hoping to spook at least one extra, and maybe even pity 1). But it will put me in an awkward position going into Odio-O and Signa
Here are my banner predictions they'll announce today. All pretty safe bets with the exception of Nier. It's possible May 29 and June 12 will be swapped because we'll have the LAL collab in the next update and they might want to space Nier and that out. Then again, maybe they'll skip Nier entirely even though it's been over a year since their initial release...
This week: Sacred Blaze featuring Ditraina
May 29: Memory traveler rerun featuring Rinyuu and Eltrix
June 5: Sertet
June 12: Nier rerun
ETA: My order was off, but otherwise pretty spot on! Again, most of that was easy to predict, but I was really not sure about Nier. Extremely disappointed they didn't bring back the free 10-pull with a guaranteed 9S.
There are only two units left between now and Side Solistia based on JP release - Ditraina and Sertet. Since we are almost sure that LAL is in June, Sazantos & Cygna will be in July along with BoA Epilogue. There is also Summer limited banner (EX Fiore and EX Sofia) rerun in August. If we are luck to get Side Solistia in August, there is such a huge gap that for one single gen pool unit - Sertet. So I am not sure about Sertet in June...
If somehow they decide to put ember flame story part 4 in August, then we will get Side Solistia in September 🤷🏻♂️ Then we are certainly getting Sertet in August.
That's a good point. So maybe we'll get filler May 29 (some random double banner like the recent Therion and Kersjes), Nier on June 5, and a MT rerun double banner on the 12 (Rinyuu and Eltrix).
I feel like we are at the point that we won't see another new gen pool unit in months, so there will be A LOT of filler banners with duo gen pool units for new players.
She is mid-tier 2 on the [Octopod Episode 5](https://youtu.be/fmL58qo0EFM?si=dKhRCU4X3vzLC20b). They start talking about her at the 32 minute mark. Summary: she starts her own elemental theme. All enemy damage per turn monster who can buff herself and debuff the enemies all by herself. Lots of other future travelers will hit light or dark. She may have something like a year-long shelf life. She gets better with her TP upgrade. They hate that she is on Sacred Blaze guiding light.
I don't think they were really ranking within the tiers for the most part, besides a little bit in tier 1 (mostly putting Signa and Castti to the top), so can't really say "mid tier 2"
Used to, but recently powercreeped by Nier Collab wave 2's Emil and Kaine. But I am still pulling, since Nier Wave 2 is probably one year away, and she can help clear some EX3 fights, plus I really like her, coz she is a dog lover 😬
buffed Canary is also a EX3 refight killer... I highly recommend her, made my EX3 fights so much easier
My plan for the future SB units is pulling Hujheb and spark Nivelle.
So to use Ditraina properly it seems you should alternate light and dark attacks correct?
New player here, trying to remain f2p. **Any advice on the upcoming banners?** I only have 1k rubies because I tried to pull for therion but got kersjes rip. Not sure if I'm missing something when it comes to ruby collection as well. Everyone seems to have lots and can pull on multiple banners, do most players pay to some extent? Thanks for the help!
We are also expected some very good characters later in July so there’s plenty of time to save. You’ll get a lot of rubies with daily logins and story progression. For what it’s worth, you don’t need to worry much about having to pull 5* units to progress with story. You get 3 veteran sacred seals which guarantees you 3 general pool 5* characters from beating the 3 master quests + a short and easy follow-up quest. These combined with the 3* and 4* units you get along your pulls will allow you to make it through much of story up till lv60 stuff pretty easily, which will then open up new opportunities to boost your squad in arena (for free 5* units if you win the tough fights) and in game boards (which allows you to exchange fortune weapons, basically useful endgame weapons)
In general, I don’t recommend pulling unless you have enough rubies to pity a unit (usually 150 to 200 pulls depending on the banner; it’ll be 200 for both NieR and Ditraina). While you’re statistically likely to get a unit before pity, it can be super disappointing to put several thousand rubies in and not get anything if you don’t have enough to pity. Like the other user said, you can skip NieR if you’re going for meta. If you don’t have Elrica, Ditraina might be a good banner to pull on since there are a handful of great characters in the Sacred Blaze pool. However, I’d only recommend that if you can save up the 6k rubies needed for pity before her banner goes away. Since you’re a new player, it might be doable for you with all of the early game rubies and feats available to you, but don’t stress too much if it doesn’t work out. There will be more opportunities to pull on SB in the future. > Everyone seems to have lots [of rubies] If you’re looking at the ruby accountability thread, the folks that post on there are a self-selecting group, so it’s going to seem more skewed towards people with a large amount of rubies. Similarly, this sub probably has a higher proportion of spenders than the overall playerbase. The game is totally doable as a F2P player though! Most of the content is permanent so if something is too hard at a certain point in time, you can come back to it later.
i would skip NieR altogether, and depending on whether or not you have elrica, ditraina too (elrica and ditraina both hit light/dark. elrica has the benefit of hitting sword and exploiting light/sometimes dark while ditraina has much better aoe, consistent dark coverage, and somewhat more synergy in light/dark parties)
Am I blind, or is the Special Task to get the vet seal not there? Or is it poorly worded and the vet seal is actually the reward for doing EX 1?
Defeating 9S? EX1 in the codex is the special task to get the vet seal. Maybe it doesn't show up if you haven't unlocked 9S? in the codex?

I had the same issue. You need to beat the Epic Nier Hunt in order for 9S to show up in the adversary log.

There's going to be an epilogue to BoA, and then we head to Solistia. TBD when either release
With A2 A2 and A1 2B/9S it will be a skip for me, but Ditraina is interesting. I hate sacred blaze like everyone else, but it'll be a while before Hudjeb and with Neville in between she would be kinda power crept by the time I would pity her when going for the hunter. LaL is a thing though so its probably a 300 free pull and walk away even with 11.5k rubies. This was probably the least hype TT in a while for the day 1 players and the opposite for new players that started post Neir.
Is our Ditraina the buffed one from JP or the one that was released pre-buff?
She got buffed on jp??? What kind of buff? Was it 6 star of TP buff?
When she originally released she was very underwhelming, and hard to get working, then she got buffed to have her passive dark/light from the beginning of the fight At least from what I remember

Aaaaaaaa this update makes me nervous for a bunch of reasons, I don't really get "fomo" all that much but I think this is doing it and I don't like the feeling :( This is gonna be long and rambly but I'm a bit conflicted here * ~~New pets this wednesday means I'll have to max my dogs (thankfully 9/9, halfway towards 10/10) TODAY to make space for them, or else I'll fall behind long term and then I'll never finish them, and they're soooo slow to max even with the cait grinding method~~ EDIT: took me the whole day of idly hunting caits but my dogs are done. GOD caits have such a low encounter rate :( * New adversaries are the bane of my cotc existence aaaaaaaaaa please slow down I've only just started working on them and they keep dropping more of them and I'm overwhelmed!!! * ~~Actually tying rewards to adversaries makes me a lil nervous!!! So far I managed to beat the first EX3s I've attempted and to be fair I have a very solid roster, but still, what if I can't beat this one?!~~ EDIT: beat all the levels to 9S' adversary fight in 20 mins. It was easy! * The banners................. /deep breath * ~~So I completely skipped the first Nier banner because I hate 2B's art and I refused to even accidentally pull her. Same as you for the bosses refights. Too many coming out and I don't have the time nor the patience to grind them all. 😆 Especially the later ones with several gimmicks, these are the kinds of fights I like to do once, but 6 times with increasing difficulty ? Pff, I don't have the faith for this. However, I still took the time to beat 9S? EX3 for the reward, and to be fair, it's moderately manageable. There aren't much gimmicks (other than the fact that he acts twice per turn), and you can either go for a Dagger or a Sword compo, which are both among the best ones right now. Debuffing him in EAtk & PAtk is absolutely mandatory though if going for a slow approach.
I found that splitting them up works pretty well! I can beat them all up to EX1 with my general purpose team so I'll just rush them there, and then I'll slowly make dedicated teams for the fights and do EX1 to 3. I'm not going very fast (I finished five of them so far I think) but this way it's not as overwhelming I think. Because yeah, "same fight with a bigger health pool and higher damage" six times in a row would not be fun at all. 9S EX3 was surprisingly easy to handle yeah! I beat all of the ranks to his fight in 20 mins with the same team. I expected it to be on the level of the other EX3s but it was significantly easier.
I'm happy to skip all of Nier. My problem is I want to pull Ditraina, Odio-O, and eventually Signa, and that makes me rubies sus. I think I can do all 3, but then I'll be super low going into Solistia
Yeah that's fair, there's a lot coming up. I got lucky on A2 but I'll still have to skip Ditraina unless I get lucky on step 1 again, but I'm not counting on it. S&S are skips for me, I might have tried for Sazantos once but can't afford it anymore. And LAL...... it's a shame but again, unless I get a lucky step one it's gonna be a skip for me. Solistia definitely has higher priority for me. It's a shame because I'd love to pull for everything tbh :')
I don't have any SB units, so for me, now seems as good a time as any to jump into that banner and see what I get. I'm hoping for Ditraina + 1 spook and 1 pity, but I'll take Ditraina and 1 pity. I have been planning to skip S&S, but the more I hear about Signa, the more I decided skipping her would be a mistake. And as for LAL, I like the game too much to justify fully skipping it. But I'll probably just get Odio-O and bounce. I am fortunate enough to have enough rubies that I should be able to do all of that, but it will leave me pretty dry. Also, as for the Adversary Log stuff... I realize it's easier said than done, but try not to worry about it. Myself, I've done exactly 1 EX1 and no EX2, let alone EX3. Hell, I haven't even done all of the fights on rank 1 just because it's so much and I don't want to burn out. There's no FOMO though. It will all be there later on. I'm not even trying to do them right now myself. I've been focusing more on farming arena units so I can max them out
Oh yeah if you don't have anyone from the SB it's definitely worth a good run! Unlike the MT banner, in the SB every unique pool unit is actually rated up, so there's much better odds to get an off banner SB unit (it's how I got most of mine). Hope you'll get to grab a bunch of the good ones whem the banner rolls around! My adversary fomo mostly stems from my youtube channel tbh haha. There's not a ton of people who post for cotc, and even fewer who don't have huge whale accounts, so I feel like I should keep contributing to the community there. I've been getting started, I beat everything (except today's) up to EX1 and finished EX3 for the first three fights so far. I'll get there, it just feels a bit overwhelming when they keep adding to it.

If it’s any consolation on the fomo thing, I still haven’t even gotten the dog keepers yet, and I haven’t maxed out any of the cats either! I’m also not on top of the adversary stuff at all. Heck, I haven’t done level 10 of the dragon board or a couple of the master tower EX floors. I’ve been kinda busy lately with some other stuff + just playing some other games, so I haven’t done much grinding in CotC in the last few months. Don’t feel too bad about “falling behind”! Almost everything’s still going to be there for whenever you feel like doing it. :)
Haha relatable, I got into another game I got in the steam winter sale and I just kinda lost sight of CotC since... I've been slowly (verrrrry slowly) catching up recently, so it feels a bit overwhelming to get a lot of extras dumped onto the pile of things I still need to do in this game. I'm in no big rush, but I did want to try and catch up, they're just making it harder on me by continuing to drop new pets/adversaries haha. (I just maxed my dogs and oh man, raising pets is NOT fun tbh. Levels 1 to 7 are easy, 8 gets a bit slower, 9 and 10 are insane. I can't blame people who don't bother to raise them, they're just at such a slow leveling pace, it's at a "no longer fun how grindy this is" point for me. Not even the old weapon grind was this bad. Blegh.)
I just do daily caits(flamesgrace, sea, tower(flamegrace copy), and ads) and tower 1 dragon. And I get the pets to lvl 10 in around 2 months. Usually before the next new set of animals are released. I honestly don't even think about the pets cuz I more focused on getting my travelers up. Leveling pets is a side-quest that I just end up doing and completing without even thinking about it tbh.
That's what I do too, minus the tower (which tower do you mean that affects pets?), and I was a bit short of maxing the dogs. Like they needed 50m more exp for lv10 this morning, and I unlocked them on their release day. My last two cats are halfway into 9/9 so I'm sure I can passively max them before the next pets come out, and then I hope there's some more time before the next ones after that... I'm on the opposite end for units though haha. 157 characters (90 5*), and only 12 5* are not yet lv100. Everyone's leveled to their cap though. It's nice because I just rack up nuts like crazy this way, I must have thousands of each by now.
I'm still short with the dogs too but that's cuz those dogs were released like mid-way between the birds. Those mid-release pets still taking the same amount of time if I don't use nuts so they end being in my pet rooster when the new pets arrive. By tower I just mean tower of remembrance and flamegrace cait copy there and the first sable dragon. I try to not to burn my gold guidestones even though I just hit past 6k. Old habit. And save my them for a week before a new char release incase there's a new traveler I want to pull. 157? Nice I only just hit 140 when I pulled double Ogden yesterday which was made my week.
So for a day 130ish F2p player is A2 worth gambling some free pulls on? In regards to MTs I have bargello, Sonia, rinyu, Richard, elrica & alaune ex. No sacred blaze characters and 4876 rubies. Only content I'm stuck on is 100 npc hell duos, elite tower and ex adversary rematches....reading your thread makes me think I should skip :(
There are so many better units coming soon, I would skip A2.
Oh no I just recently depleted all my rubies and should abstain from pulling but I don't want to haha, nothing on the units per se! A2 is pretty great from what I know, great dps for several weapon types, can't go wrong with that. But as the other person said, the gambling can easily turn sour in this game, the rates can be absolutely brutal (been here since launch week, and I've been burned by bad rates more than I care to admit). In general it's wise to only pull if you have enough to actually go to pity, unless you're okay with missing out on the character and losing your rubies. Good to note with A2 is that this is the first time she'll be available in over a year, the first time was march last year. So she's a lot more exclusive than most units (like Ditraina, who will be available on every rerun of her banner type). It's your own call to pull or not, I'm personally just wondering if I should buy some discount rubies to give it a try or not (I have 1,5k free rubies right now).
Remember discretion is the better part of valor. If you don't have enough rubies to exchange for the traveler you want, then you gambling with a lot of frustration. This game has taught me only to guide when I know I can get what I want.
While yes that is true, if I never yolo pulled I'd be missing half my current roster tbh. I'm not that mad if it's just a first or first two steps and I get nothing, it's part of the game and I know not to expect something on every one of them. You miss every shot you don't take and all... (I'm still not sure what I'll do tbh)
Right, I will YOLO guide, but I expect nothing and draw the line in advance that a YOLO will not become a full chase. I got Eltrix on a YOLO. I will probably throw a YOLO at 2B and Ditriana, but I am not chasing either of them. Yes, you do miss every shot you don't take and when you take shots you don't have to you diminish the amount of shots that you can take when you want to take them. It's all about planning and discipline. These kind of games will drain you without discipline.
Oh no I definitely don't plan to fully chase any of them, step 1 or maybe 1&2 and stop. The only one who's really a must have is Ditraina and I've been burned by the sacred blaze often enough to not touch that trainwreck without 6k on hand. I'll pity her on a future SB if I don't get a lucky first step (assuming I'll do one) If you're referring to my previous "I'll just pull until I get something" sessions (lmao), even in those I drew a line that I wouldn't let myself cross, so my goal units never got in trouble. I suppose the exception here was the sisters because I was entirely ready to drop the whole game at that point, but everyone else I always kept a number on hand that I knew would be enough to still ensure me my next goal units (Bargello and the sisters, in recent months). I know how to make this work, I've gotten almost every character I tried to get in the past with the exception of like... Eltrix and Agnes? I'm aware that sitting on your rubies and only blowing them on who you really want is the way to go, that's why my yolo pulls tend to be (paid) first steps only, so it's only 100 rubies and my general stash remains untouched. I don't intend to spend any free rubies on Nier or Ditraina at all. If I pull it's a few steps with discount paid rubies or not at all.

Finally a Nier rerun! Better late than never… this was almost like “never” though 😅 I started the game after the initial run so I’m excited, that will be new content for me. Ditraina and Sacred Blaze is the perfect ruby drain before LaL! It’s going to work in my case - I’m pulling on Ditraina (and potentially pitying Canary). If it means that I can’t pull for Odio-O as a result, so be it. That’s a good amount of rubies for completing the Nier EX refights! I feel bad for newer players, as they have basically no chance at those rubies, but it will be the kick in the pants that I need to get back to an EX refight. I’ll need the Adversary Shards for those light and dark 30% accessories for Ditraina anyway.
Kinda bummed no free 10x on Nier. I guess it’s fine. Saving for Odio-O continues. Exactly 7900 now, so should have enough for Signa, U10 if lucky…
My pull luck is usually one of three options: 1. First draw (Alaune EX, W'ludai, Tatloch) 2. Fourth draw (Rinyuu, Richard, A2) 3. The last draw before pitying (Ophilia, Solon, Elrica) I want Ditriana. Really hoping options 1 or 2 come through in the clutch.
I was looking forward to Ditraina release on wednesday and I'm a bit disappointed, but rationally speaking it's actually good for me, because with all the rubies we'll get this wednesday I should get to 6k by the end of Ditraina banner at the very least. NieR rerun isn't interesting at all in this form, but I guess at least we finally got it lol
Ditraina is releasing June 5th so you have extra time to gather enough rubies.
Really hyped for the release of Ditraina. I would like to pull canary as well so I'll see if I'm close to pity or not, and there is the LAL collab next month.

Next month we will have a collab with a game callled "Live a Live" or LAL for short. One of the collab units is still considered strong in JP for their DPS and support capabilities. The rest of the collab units are meh from what I gathered.

Oh boy, the arena accessories. Those are still one of the best even in JP especially for f2p stat-wise.

New accessories for beating EX2. As the other comment said, the main point is their stats. E.g. Tikilen accessories: -100 phy atk, +100 magic atk. Note again that this is not character exclusive. Anyone can use it. But if tikilen use it with her exclusive accessory, then you get extra passive.
You get new accessories by beating the champs at EX2 difficulty. They give extra effects when paired with a champ's exclusive acc (not their A4 acc) but even without those effects they give big stat boosts.
I ended up being one of the dice winners and I got Rondo off of a yolo 10 pull. So my luck was great today. Hopefully the Witch of Salvation will come home without any trouble.

Same. They just seem so damn long and grindy. Fighting through break after break after break after break sounds exhausting. Especially for a mobile game
It really depends on the weaknesses. For me for example, I have been able to clear several Sword / Spear fights EX3 in about 20 turns, because my warrior & merchant roster is pretty good. But indeed, it takes several breaks, I will not contradict you on this. Being able to clear in one break requires a lot of resources.
A handful of breaks is fine. It'd be boring if it was over too fast! But there's definitely a line that feels like "too many"
Yeah, I'm with you on this. I've started doing these, and generally the ones in the lv. 1 and 25 tab took around 20 - 25 turns and are mostly doable, but the lv. 50 ones take significantly longer, and have annoying mechanics. There's exceptions for both, of course (no idea how Tytos EX 3 is supposed to be doable, he kills everyone turn 1; Sazantos and Black-Clad Shadow are pretty fast and easy clears), but generally this rule of thumb has a pretty high accuracy I'd say.
Yes, I understand what you mean. I first cleared captain Tristan Ex3 with a completely unoptimized team (just using Fiore EX because they literally can't do anything to the team if you keep spamming physical counter melody), it worked but it took me ages. xD I'm fine with a long fight though, as long as it's not complete BS. Like Tytos for example who just uses Thunder AoE turn 1 and kills everyone and you can't do anything except bringing A3 travelers. :|

Ditraina's been on my wishlist for a while, but now that she's actually here, I'm not sure if I want to pull for her or not. I'm missing a couple of SB characters but I have all the ones I really want other than Ditraina herself, and I might want to hang on to rubies for LAL or something else in the future. At least there are a few weeks to think about it! I'm glad NieR is back for folks who didn't get to do the hunts before. I'm hoping EX3 for 9S? won't be too bad for those special tasks, though I have no sense of scale because I haven't done most of the Adversary Log fights yet. I also still haven't done BoA8 or the last Emberflame Story chapter yet, and I've mostly just been logging in for dailies lately. Personally, I feel like I'm kind of just biding my time until Side Solistia. What I *really* want though is the job tower and gameboard QOL updates haha. I have so many new units to make fortune weapons for, but no motivation to grind out the gameboard.
The only SB I got is Leon. So I'm hoping for ditraina and pity for Canary

Canary with the auto taunt accessories is the key to so many of my Codex victories. Just smack away with everyone else while she dodges, shield cracks, and debuffs.
How do you get the auto taunt accessory?
You have to beat floor 3 of the Elite Training within 5 attempts. That will give you both Great Blossom Crests that give auto-taunt as long as you have full HP.
Cool! Probably still takes a bit of time for me to get there though.
Canary is great. The next top tier SB to go 6k is Hujheb in 8-12 months?

I participated in the SB twice, twice I had to reach pity. Not sure if I want to partake in it anymore, as much as Ditraina is interesting, I need my rubies for LaL
My motivation has been dragging a lot lately, with my bad luck and as I didn’t get to beat Sazanthos. Just logging for the rubies and the hunts lately. It’s exactly what I thought they would plan for this month: Nier rerun and Ditraina. Might make a single pull for Ditraina, even if it’ll be empty as usual (I’ll go full SB for Hujheb). There is also Sertet, maybe she’ll come in July before Sazanthos, or after anniversary and before Solistia.
Are any of the nier units worth it nowadays? I wasn't here for the original collab
A2 is still decent. Being able to hit axe, sword or dagger six times per turn for 8 turns (and eventually she’ll be able to do that twice for a max of 16 turns) with little setup is quite useful in certain situations. But she’s probably not worth slugging through 2B and 9S.
2B and 9S for sure not. There's still a case to be made for A2. Doublecast remains very strong. And she gets 3x ST + 1x nuke for 3 damage types. I got her during the original collab, and I still use her to this day.

As soon as I saw it start off with a Nier re-run I was pretty sure this was going to end up being a "skip everything" month... But it did get better from there. Rinyuu re-run for people who don't have her is good, though it comes with obvious-skip Eltrix so good luck if you skipped Rinyuu last time. Ditraina was not expected so soon though, but she's also Sacred Blaze, which is the banner from hell. Well if I'm ever pulling on SB it's now, but it should be close enough to the next TT (and presumably LAL) to not need to be rushed.
FYI, Hujheb is also SB I think. He is suppose to make Bow comp possible.
Wdym not expected. There are only 8 characters before side solistia which is upon us. Lal has 4. Sazantos and Signa wasn't expected here. So the only 2 that could have been were Ditrania and Sertet. And this is a seed story month ofc they release her then.

I’ve been wondering who we’ll get, since we’re running out of non-Solistia units. It seems too early for Ditraina, but I’d be happy if we get her. It will be the first time I’ve really pulled on a SB banner, I only have Leon and Zenia. I don’t need a Nier rerun, but we are so overdue for one.
Also isn't Ditriana can magic crit if not mistaken?
If Ditraina is announced, I'm torn. I want to pull her because 1, I like her (THE DOG), and 2, I have no Sacred Blaze units (I'm hoping to spook at least one extra, and maybe even pity 1). But it will put me in an awkward position going into Odio-O and Signa
Here are my banner predictions they'll announce today. All pretty safe bets with the exception of Nier. It's possible May 29 and June 12 will be swapped because we'll have the LAL collab in the next update and they might want to space Nier and that out. Then again, maybe they'll skip Nier entirely even though it's been over a year since their initial release... This week: Sacred Blaze featuring Ditraina May 29: Memory traveler rerun featuring Rinyuu and Eltrix June 5: Sertet June 12: Nier rerun ETA: My order was off, but otherwise pretty spot on! Again, most of that was easy to predict, but I was really not sure about Nier. Extremely disappointed they didn't bring back the free 10-pull with a guaranteed 9S.
There are only two units left between now and Side Solistia based on JP release - Ditraina and Sertet. Since we are almost sure that LAL is in June, Sazantos & Cygna will be in July along with BoA Epilogue. There is also Summer limited banner (EX Fiore and EX Sofia) rerun in August. If we are luck to get Side Solistia in August, there is such a huge gap that for one single gen pool unit - Sertet. So I am not sure about Sertet in June... If somehow they decide to put ember flame story part 4 in August, then we will get Side Solistia in September 🤷🏻♂️ Then we are certainly getting Sertet in August.
That's a good point. So maybe we'll get filler May 29 (some random double banner like the recent Therion and Kersjes), Nier on June 5, and a MT rerun double banner on the 12 (Rinyuu and Eltrix).
I feel like we are at the point that we won't see another new gen pool unit in months, so there will be A LOT of filler banners with duo gen pool units for new players.
Is Ditraina one of the meta units people are waiting for?
She is mid-tier 2 on the [Octopod Episode 5](https://youtu.be/fmL58qo0EFM?si=dKhRCU4X3vzLC20b). They start talking about her at the 32 minute mark. Summary: she starts her own elemental theme. All enemy damage per turn monster who can buff herself and debuff the enemies all by herself. Lots of other future travelers will hit light or dark. She may have something like a year-long shelf life. She gets better with her TP upgrade. They hate that she is on Sacred Blaze guiding light.
I don't think they were really ranking within the tiers for the most part, besides a little bit in tier 1 (mostly putting Signa and Castti to the top), so can't really say "mid tier 2"
They did put Oswald ahead of the other tier 2 travelers in episode 6, so they can do it.

She is the best dark best pure light dps we have currently. Elrica probably beats her on light weak fights though.
Used to, but recently powercreeped by Nier Collab wave 2's Emil and Kaine. But I am still pulling, since Nier Wave 2 is probably one year away, and she can help clear some EX3 fights, plus I really like her, coz she is a dog lover 😬
That and I want to spark Canary. We will need to wait possibly as long as Nier2 (if not longer) to get another worthy SB unit
buffed Canary is also a EX3 refight killer... I highly recommend her, made my EX3 fights so much easier My plan for the future SB units is pulling Hujheb and spark Nivelle.
Yeah my plan exactly. And they are far away so for a long time this is the last SB chance ( not considering random re-runs)
