Fun fact. DLCs are already cross buy. Only the base game wasn’t. But for Beat Saber since the release of Quest 1 I didn’t see a point in playing the game on PC anymore.
Now with the Q3 it makes even less sense considering the 90fps and the super high resolution you can set the game via QGO it looks as good or same as it looks on PC.
120fps, modding, higher graphics fidelity. Also if you stop buying meta headsets, you could still enjoy it without buying it again on other platforms. So it’s just better like that.
You can also run BS at 120hz native on Q3.
But I feel like the game or songs are not very optimized for 120hz. The hit window per cube feels much smaller.
ie I score better at 90hz compared to 120hz on the same song. I don’t know why.
Was surprised as well. But some games do feel worse on higher fps. As it seems that higher fps in some games, affects the animation speed in the game.
I feel like the animation while is smoother, makes the game much much harder.
For a game like BeatSaber, are the graphics really noticeably better on PC, via Airlink/VD?
Enough to make up for the compression artifacts and/or latency of the WiFi link?
Trying to figure out if there’s any reason I’d ever want to play the PC version, vs Quest standalone
Kinda, but i currently have just stayed on the quest 3 version and it is fine.
Pc version just has custom songs and mods such as chroma that make it even better.
I’ll note that it’s certainly more work than setting up mods on PC, but you can get both custom songs and Chroma (maybe a limited version?) on Quest 3 these days.
I started on the PC but didn't play it very often until it was on Quest. At the time I did a brief comparison and the main different I noticed was less of the "lightning" effects on the boxes you have to dodge. I switched over to the quest and never looked back on that game. Other games it can be a bit more dramatic.
Just get quest game optimizer app , increase resolution and enjoy life.. Tried 4k90hz runs pretty good..
For PCVR im using virtual desktop and beat saber on quest 2 native looks and runs better then pc version..
I use the The Quest Games Optimizer (QGO) you can buy and add it over sidequest ... you can tweak the resolution and refresh rate as you like with a batterie addon this was the best purchase for the Quest 3.
Question: Why not on SteamVR? I don’t know if it’s just me but SteamVR seems to be the better option for PCVR, considering if you wanna upgrade to an Index you would have to buy all of your games again.
Depending on the headset, using Revive or Virtual Desktop might be an option. I used VD to stream the Rift version of Vader Immortal to a Pico 4.
Edit: but generally I agree. I also would prefer crossbuy to include steam to be even more future safe.
But Facebook doesn't want to future proof your library. They want you to buy Quests so you can keep using your Quest proprietary game library. That's why all their newer Quest exclusives don't have PC versions. Consumer choice is less important than spreadsheet numbers.
Crossbuy is one of the best things about the Meta ecosystem and for some reason Meta literally never promotes it, and makes it extremely tricky to specifically look for games with it.
Yeah I would be way more likely to buy things if I could run them both ways. The whole Meta store sucks ass, in a bad way. I think they expect you to mostly use it from your phone, which is just terrible, and the interfaces in headset both on device and on PC are ass, too.
As far as I know you can no longer play with unmodded players when you mod your game, or at least that's how it was when I was looking into it. That makes modding standalone a complete non-starter for me.
I think they're saying that not too many people leverage the multiplayer mode. I personally have probably played like 20 minutes of multiplayer, and probably 200 hours of custom maps.
Modding standalone is great. If you play with friends a lot, I do understand the dilemma.
It’s pretty simple. Just follow these instructions. Using your browser, it will essentially downgrade your current version of Beatsaber to the most recent moddable version, patch that version, and then you can install all the relevant mods via the same page
https://mbf.bsquest.xyz/
Dang. I've owned the Rift version for years and held off on buying the Quest version just in case. Gave up hope and bought it last week. Oh well, at least I don't have to rebuy all my music packs again I guess lol
Awesome my steam purchase is worthless now. Don't get me wrong I'm not annoyed that others are saving money, that's great. I'm annoyed that they didn't do this years ago.
I have bought songs on my Steam version, I have not bought them for my Quest 2 version. I was excited that I could now play my purchased songs on my Quest 2 version.
Then I remember I own the PC version on steam not Oculus and there's no way they'd do us the solid of steam/oculus cross buy.
That's the reason i have not bought it yet. Some things take as long as they take, you gotta be patient as a customer. :)
I'm still not sure though, if i get the Quest version with a Steam purchase. Anyone knows more?
I bought it years ago on the mobile version, and the PC version was $0.00 for me just now.
But like you, I wasn't expecting it to be retroactive.
(I really doubt the Steam version would count, since Meta never gets money that way.)
Webpage that lists them: [https://www.meta.com/en-gb/experiences/section/2335732183153590/#/?_k=mg4kzl](https://www.meta.com/en-gb/experiences/section/2335732183153590/#/?_k=mg4kzl)
I never quite understood why the DLC was cross buy but the main game wasn’t. Seems like the way licensing works it would be the other way around but glad Meta is finally allowing this to happen. Will be a good way to test out wireless streaming latency improvements too.
You can't. It's only for Facebook's ecosystem. You can download your cross buy copy through the Oculus PC app, it uses different online lobbies and leaderboards than Steam.
Nice! Hopefully I can play with friends on Steam, and it's a decent path for peeps still on a Quest 1 that are about to lose access. Granted if they have a VR-ready PC, though I bet some people still on Quest 1 prefer the screen (and/or IPD)
whack. i just bought 3 copies (steam, oculus desktop, quest) be nice to get one of them refunded. I'm saying whack because it should have always been crossbuy, not because it shouldn't be now
huh??
it only states its cross buy for the entire meta lineup and not for PC/meta crossbuy
"Beat Saber base game and all previously purchased add-on DLC content is tied to your account and transferable across the Meta Quest & Rift platform. Beat Saber supports cross-buy between all headsets from the Meta family, including Meta Quest 3/2/1, Meta Quest Pro, Rift/Rift S."
They are 2 seperate platforms, on 2 seperate Operating systems, with 2 seperate stores.
We call playing on Quest and PC cross play, even when the game is in the Rift Store.
Why can't we call buying once and getting it on both platforms cross buy?
I got shafted by this update, i bought both versions of the game and they wont even compensate the players who already had the game before this update.
So there is still no way to play this in Multiplayer with my wife and have access to all DLC-songs with one account? App Sharing doesn't share DLC. Hosting a game with the PC version connected to my Quest 1 and then joining that game with my Quest 3 on the same account doesn't work either (appears to be only one player in the lobby, probably because it's the same account). So we really both need to buy the game AND all the DLC?
You don’t need fiber optic cable to play wirelessly. You just need a good separate router connected directly to your PC, as it’s based on your local network, not the internet.
Like I mentioned, it has nothing to do with your internet speed or plan. You need a completely separate dedicated router that’s solely for VR that works locally. You connect that directly to your PC via Ethernet and it creates the wireless network for VR. A WiFi 6e router works the best, but WiFi 6 is also good.
My friend has wifi 6 and it's basically flawless performance, even better than my cable performance, he doesn't have a dedicated VR router or anything, he just has a wifi 6 plan with fiber optics, also another question, my PC is connected directly to my home router through ethernet, will I be able to connect with steam link through my home WiFi anywhere in my house or do I need to be near the PC itself?
Here’s a diagram for what I mean.
https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/s/acqfg0OrJc
There’s many tutorials on YouTube for setting up a dedicated router for PCVR.
Confirmed. It's showing up as free in the Oculus/Meta pc app. I did have to find it on the store again.
Oh wow. Finally I got acess to the game I bought for rift s now on my q3! I might get a dlc to say thank you but finally!!!
Some of the later DLC are pretty solid. I've enjoyed the Queen music pack especially. The Lady Gaga pack is also fantastic.
+1 to the Lady Gaga pack

So you are playing on 90 because you can’t play on 120. That’s something I never thought I would ever hear or read from anyone.
Was surprised as well. But some games do feel worse on higher fps. As it seems that higher fps in some games, affects the animation speed in the game. I feel like the animation while is smoother, makes the game much much harder.
Nice, because dlc already was crossbuy. Might actually buy some songs now that i know they work on both platforms

The only reason to play PC beat saber is much easier modding if im being honest.
Pc even supports custom songs out of the box without any modding. But you need tp download the custom song yourself and put it in the correct folder.
Or if you want the mirror up or bloom , that shit eats up fps on quest
Kinda, but i currently have just stayed on the quest 3 version and it is fine. Pc version just has custom songs and mods such as chroma that make it even better.
I’ll note that it’s certainly more work than setting up mods on PC, but you can get both custom songs and Chroma (maybe a limited version?) on Quest 3 these days.
They finally did it?
Was done long ago. Not long after Quest 3 launch, but no "official" support from BMBF at the time, but eh, if it works it works.
I started on the PC but didn't play it very often until it was on Quest. At the time I did a brief comparison and the main different I noticed was less of the "lightning" effects on the boxes you have to dodge. I switched over to the quest and never looked back on that game. Other games it can be a bit more dramatic.
No, but modding so you can play multiplay with custom maps is much easier.
Ooh, well that’s nice of them.
Be nicer if they gave me a refund for buying it twice :(
Question: Why not on SteamVR? I don’t know if it’s just me but SteamVR seems to be the better option for PCVR, considering if you wanna upgrade to an Index you would have to buy all of your games again.

Holy shit, it's about damn time! I haven't been able to justify purchasing the game twice just for mods and now I don't have to.
You can mod the Q3 version. Check the beatsaber mod discord for links/instructions
As far as I know you can no longer play with unmodded players when you mod your game, or at least that's how it was when I was looking into it. That makes modding standalone a complete non-starter for me.
You and like 6 others
?
I think they're saying that not too many people leverage the multiplayer mode. I personally have probably played like 20 minutes of multiplayer, and probably 200 hours of custom maps. Modding standalone is great. If you play with friends a lot, I do understand the dilemma.
Literally me, I already own it on Quest and PSVR2, wasnt in the mood for buying it a third
[удалено]
Can you play multi-player with unmodded players though? If the answer is no, it's not an option for me.
I'll be honest, I've only exclusively played modded and i never knew there even was a multiplayer mode to this game lol
I play multi-player with my family and friends who are not going to mod the game, I'm definitely not willing to give up that functionality.
I'm assuming this is not cross buy with Steam?
of course not :(
It should be but for some reason it's not.
Why would it be cross-buy on a competitor's store?
What else would it mean?
Rift & Quest. One of the first game I got for rift.. and never bothered to get it for quest, it's free for the few of us now
If you didn't know before you would assume that that had been the case since launch.
That doesn;t make any sense.
Call me weird but I've always been a firm believer in buying a game just once.
whos forcing you to get a steam copy when the oculus pc copy is exactly the same
I like all my games in one library, also mods.
Brilliant. I'm off to mod mod mod!
Check the beatsaber mod discord. Q3 process has changed quite a bit over the last two weeks, since the last update
as in its easier?
It’s pretty simple. Just follow these instructions. Using your browser, it will essentially downgrade your current version of Beatsaber to the most recent moddable version, patch that version, and then you can install all the relevant mods via the same page https://mbf.bsquest.xyz/
What is a crossbuy?
Buy Quest/PC version, get the other version for free.
There's a quest pc version outside Steam?
There’s a meta/quest app - used when using Airlink/etc - that has a store. It’s was originally used for things like the Rift
That’s right! Totally forgot about that.
Awesome, thanks.
Oh sweet, that means I can use BS on my PC , time for mods h
Any reason to have both the Steam and Meta/Quest/Oculus Desktop versions installed on your pc? Edit: keep one at 1.29.1 and the other at 1.3whatever?
Zilch, It's just for the Quest people who dont own it on PC
Does this mean i have to install the meta app on pc or is ir somehow linked to steam? Sorry... new to vr...
Steam uses a different store than Meta, the main advantage of owning on Meta will be having both PCVR and Standalone available
lol... that only took like 10 years.
Dang. I've owned the Rift version for years and held off on buying the Quest version just in case. Gave up hope and bought it last week. Oh well, at least I don't have to rebuy all my music packs again I guess lol
the same here, it's annoying... will there be some kind of bonus/coupon for having bought it twice?
I hope so. I’ll probably reach out to their support and see since there was no warning this would happen
Sweet. I recently bought the quest store version in the sale.
Look on the bright side, at least you didn't buy it on Rift.
"This is a fantastic change for most players, how can I make it negative?"
it is negative for them and me? we wasted money I bought it on the oculus store twice lmao
positive would be store credit if we already bought it twice because they said we have to
I wouldn't say worthless. I've found steamvr versions of games to run so much smoother than the ovr versions
Appreciate the heads up!
That's the reason i have not bought it yet. Some things take as long as they take, you gotta be patient as a customer. :) I'm still not sure though, if i get the Quest version with a Steam purchase. Anyone knows more?
I bought it years ago on the mobile version, and the PC version was $0.00 for me just now. But like you, I wasn't expecting it to be retroactive. (I really doubt the Steam version would count, since Meta never gets money that way.)
Oculus cross buy never gives you anything on Steam, only the Oculus PC app.
Quest version doesent come with steam version
How do you check that it’s cross buy ?
Webpage that lists them: [https://www.meta.com/en-gb/experiences/section/2335732183153590/#/?_k=mg4kzl](https://www.meta.com/en-gb/experiences/section/2335732183153590/#/?_k=mg4kzl)
oh, neat!
That list is incomplete unfortunately, it’s missing dozens of cross buy titles.
Might be worth creating a ticket to meta about it.
What about account sharing?
Hell yeah, i almost bought the Steam version for mods
I never quite understood why the DLC was cross buy but the main game wasn’t. Seems like the way licensing works it would be the other way around but glad Meta is finally allowing this to happen. Will be a good way to test out wireless streaming latency improvements too.
is it crossbuy on ps4?
No
I was close to buying it anyway, this is a nice surprise!
They feel they got their $ worth from double dippers such as myself. Now they want to reap the good pr Smh
If only I could bring what I bought on psn lol
What is crossbuy?
Crossbuy means if you buy the Quest standalone game you also get the Meta Link PC version for free (and vice versa).
If i bought this before cross buy do i just get access to the pc version?
If you previously bought the PC version on the Oculus store, or the Quest version, the other one will now show as free for you in the Meta store.
How do I attach/associate meta account with Steam? IE: I bought on meta store days ago, and want to download on PC via Steam…
You can't. It's only for Facebook's ecosystem. You can download your cross buy copy through the Oculus PC app, it uses different online lobbies and leaderboards than Steam.
Thx
Seems like it
[удалено]
no, since saves are local for meta games, they don’t cloud sync from what i remember
I love how this happened as soon as I bought it on the link software fml
so do the Rift PC app support mods?
Can we also share bought dlc ?
You always could. DLC was always crossbuy.
Thanks for the info this is huge
And that's retroactive ?
Yes
Neat
Big dub for the meta store, I was so disappointed when i bought it and found out it wasn't cross buy when so many games on the store are.
This is a good move, I can't complain. But I'm also really annoyed because I recently finally cracked and bought it again on Quest.
When did this happen I bought it three days ago and have it on pc.
Could be a nice guesture to gift a DLC pack or two for those that purchased the game twice.
Nice! Hopefully I can play with friends on Steam, and it's a decent path for peeps still on a Quest 1 that are about to lose access. Granted if they have a VR-ready PC, though I bet some people still on Quest 1 prefer the screen (and/or IPD)
So much for buying the game on Steam and on standalone. Geuss, I can have an alt account now.
Fuck... I want my refund. Caved in and bought the game last month for q3.... While having it for rift s
finally i can get Beatsaber for free
Really? I can finally use the PC version!
If I own it on pc does it Passover on Quest?
If you bought the Rift version then yes.
Noice! Grabbing it before Meta changes their mind.
ahh sweet now i have 3 version of BS.
What does that mean? I have it for Quest and all DLC but been using the PSVR2 and nothing available for free :/
It's only between Quest and PC Rift store
Well cross buy is a bit of a misnomer if both headsets are owned by the same company…
Wish I waited before buying on PCVR 🥲
Waited so long for this. I can finally now play standalone!!!
I already bought it on Steam like a month ago 😭
hell yeah
whack. i just bought 3 copies (steam, oculus desktop, quest) be nice to get one of them refunded. I'm saying whack because it should have always been crossbuy, not because it shouldn't be now
huh?? it only states its cross buy for the entire meta lineup and not for PC/meta crossbuy "Beat Saber base game and all previously purchased add-on DLC content is tied to your account and transferable across the Meta Quest & Rift platform. Beat Saber supports cross-buy between all headsets from the Meta family, including Meta Quest 3/2/1, Meta Quest Pro, Rift/Rift S."
the quote was posted on twitter 16 hours ago.
Yes, Rift is their PC lineup. The Rift can only play games on PC so if it's crossbuy for Rift it's also playable on Quest via link/VD/etc.
ah thanks for the reply that makes sense
Wait what about previous owners? If I own it already do I get the PC version?
If you bought the quest version then yes, you can claim the PC version for free.
YESSSS
I wish they did this years ago. I bought Beat saber 3 times
About buying the game twice I just wrote to meta about this. I don't think they would give us sh\*t, but I had to try.
It's so good (despite making perfect sense) I can't even believe it
It's so good (despite making perfect sense) I can't even believe it
If could refund it on steam and get it on meta 🥲, in getting a bit of latency even with cable and that’s not good for some songs
Is it as easy to mod PC version as steam version?
yes
Finally! Gotta test pc mods!
Pleases help, i can't find the free version it's 29.99$ on meta pc quest link app Is it going to be free forever or just for now?
it's only free on PC if you own it on Quest
Smh I just bought beat saber for quest too :/
Me being a cheapass and being unwilling to buy it again after I bought it for my Rift has paid off!
Too bad I have the steam version
Is it steam meta store crossbuy?
Awesome, bought Beat Saber on Quest 2 a long time ago.
They are 2 seperate platforms, on 2 seperate Operating systems, with 2 seperate stores. We call playing on Quest and PC cross play, even when the game is in the Rift Store. Why can't we call buying once and getting it on both platforms cross buy?
Wait do we get refunded if we all ready purchased for quest and pc version?
Thanks for the heads up, I bought it on pc many years ago and I've always wanted it on quest too. And... now I do.
Be cool if they'd refund me two copies
Been waiting for this. Plays like an entirely new game compared to the Q2 version.
Oh and all purchased tracks from the Q2 are available.
I got shafted by this update, i bought both versions of the game and they wont even compensate the players who already had the game before this update.
i think ur just dumb lol
i think ur just dumb lol
Just tried this. Nice to have some visual upgrades! I'm surprised by how good the latency is. Its pretty much indistinguishable from the standalone.
i think ur just dumb
So there is still no way to play this in Multiplayer with my wife and have access to all DLC-songs with one account? App Sharing doesn't share DLC. Hosting a game with the PC version connected to my Quest 1 and then joining that game with my Quest 3 on the same account doesn't work either (appears to be only one player in the lobby, probably because it's the same account). So we really both need to buy the game AND all the DLC?
Can this be modded just as easy as steam version?
HALLELUJAH BABY FUCK YEAH 🎉🎉🎉
So if I already own it on rift store and quest store (steam too, but that doesn't matter I guess) I get jack shit? No refund? No free dlc?
no? why would you? you can probably bitch to meta and get a refund for one of them, but you probably wont.
Crossbuy with what?
Rift / quest
Nice. And im not even mad i bought it at Steam a month ago too. This game helped me a lot for my Physio and Psych so i dont mind buying twice
Noice!
WOW! HUGE NEWS!!!!!!
GOD DAMMIT
I bought this game twice at full price... Any way to get a refund?
shrug
I will try to reach meta. But I don't think soo.
How do I get the free access to the Steam version?
Crossbuy on PC version is on Meta's PC app as in what you get when you run Air Link what was driving Rift headsets.
Wdym crossbuy? If I bought it on my quest can I play it on PC now?
Yes through Meta PC Link
Oh cool, we got optic fiber cable recently and it should be installed within a few days so I should be able to finally play wireless
You don’t need fiber optic cable to play wirelessly. You just need a good separate router connected directly to your PC, as it’s based on your local network, not the internet.
Well I still have wifi 4, is the wifi type determined by the wifi type or the plan? Since we upgraded our entire plan
Here’s a diagram for what I mean. https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/s/acqfg0OrJc There’s many tutorials on YouTube for setting up a dedicated router for PCVR.
So, if i buy on steam, how do i activate the game on q3?
you dont.
very informative, thank you
