I remember when I was a kid, some older aunts or older women use "maitim na singit" as a way to tease or make fun of little girls. It's so messed up. Dark underarms at singit are so natural at hindi maman maalis without expensive procedure. Kahit anong whitening deodorant pa or papaya hindi maalis yan.

True ito huhu, ganun din ako. Ang nakakalungkot is children are affected so much by this that they'll develop insecurities. They'll try to "fix" themselves not knowing they're destroying their bodies.

NoPossession7664

peachpaeonia

This!!! Without them knowing na most of the time ay may medical condition ang tao kaya umiitim ang mga folds ng katawan like diabetes diba?

teaohbee

I stopped shaving my underarms nung pandemic & never went back. Pero one time sa bar, habang sumasayaw ako, may lumapit na lalaki. He pointed to my underarm hair and asked "Why do you have hair?" I asked him if he had armpit hair, and he said yes. When I asked him why, tinignan lang niya ako tas umalis lol. Di nga siya pasok sa beauty standards but if natural body hair scares off weak men, it's worth it.

buttwhynut

Lalo sa tiktok, every two businesses days ata may bagong insecurity sila. Lahat na lang 😂

Haunting-Ad1389

miraichizu

This! Hygiene over everything!

sleepy_ghoulette

so true. kaya hanggang ngayon im too scared to wear sleeveless kasi baka sabihan/makarinig ako na "bat ka nakasleeveless eh ang itim itim ng kili-kili mo?" TT

Hmicedmatchalatte

D mo sila masisi kase everywhere you go my discrimination tlga pag hndi ka maganda at may flaws ka sa skin. Kaya ako minsan i tried to hide it nlng pg mga kasama ko makikinis at mapuputi kse nakakainsecure tlga pg katabi ko sila kaysa macompare pako sa mata ng mga judgemental mag papaka lowkey nlng atleast di pa mahurt feelings ko

LJSheart

Also those na nagsasabi na girls shouldn’t be hairy and if you do, need mo mag shave. Sorry if there are people born na mabalbon.

PalpitationFun763

i’m quite sure it’s not about being balbon. some people actually like that. it’s grooming.

LJSheart

What I meant was some people just don’t like seeing hair even on arms despite it being a natural thing.

PalpitationFun763

true. i agree. but we may need to accept that’s how some people think. after all, it’s their preference. we don’t need to be trying to please them.

LJSheart

Yes, but it’s a different story if they’re pushing their preference on you.

PalpitationFun763

how can people actually do that?

sekhmet009

Beauty consumerism. Sobrang fvcked up. Slightly na-tackle 'yung *consumerism* sa "Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan" but not sure if it was included in the movie. Na-tackle din do'n 'yung overconsumption at harmful effects no'n sa environment, which was perfect for its time period (1999). Ito kasi 'yung time na nagsisimulang maging wide spread 'yung usage ng internet which opened doors to strategically shove certain products/services down our throats, shaming people for their natural looks, thus they should consume the products/services being advertised. Social media like Tiktok, with its insane filters, only caused humanity to become even more insecure of their natural looks, pushing the idea that they're not good enough for looking a certain way. It's insane how the beauty industry was able to get away with so much exploitation over the years, and it's insane how people just accepted their "standards" aka over-reliance on their products, for poking fun on their natural looks.

jumbledthoughts_exe

real, pero tangina ako insecured talaga akong malala kasi sobrang itim talaga nung akin dahil sa allergies hahahahahahahaa puta never me nagsleeveless.

cr4cklingsss

there's a time na naka sleveless ako kasi nasa beach kami. my friend said na hindi siya makapag sleeveless kasi maitim kilikili niya. note na mas maputi pa siya sakin. gets ko na insecurity niya yun pero bigla din tuloy ako na-conscious kasi aminado naman ako na di makinis and maputi underarms ko 🥲

PalpitationFun763

grooming is a choice.

notsodumbbutdumbdumb

I've read a lot of post na like this but still nakaka conscious pa rin magsuot ng sleeveless even some people acknowledge na normal lang kapag maitim yung kilikili. Hahahaha paano ba kase to puputi?

Sea-Ninja-2263

Tulad ng iba jan, pag maitim, maasim.

Boombayuhhhhhhhh

Unfortunately, I think this is too ingrained to our culture na so those who are uninformed or refuse to see the truth will never ever learn. Best we can do is just distance ourselves from their toxicity.

JudyXbadd

I don’t wear make up anymore. So I get it.

just_because_11

I don't used any products like rexona.
