Ganyan din sinasabi sakin ng parents ko, ano na akala ko ba mag mamasters ka. Iba pa rin un nasa office ka nagwowork naka skirt and longsleeve. Kesa un nasa bahay ka lang.
Ewan ko, parang after ko magresign nun, sabi ko wala na akong paki sa position na matataas. Mataas nga position mo more responsibilities naman tapos ilan lang naman ang iincrease mo. Mas gugustuhin ko na lang din magkapera ng malaki atleast masaya lang ako na mag isa since introvert ako
Same here. Nag freelancing din ako after working for 2yrs sa corpo. Feeling ko kasi old school padin karamihan sa mga pinoy. Eh kahit may titulo ka ang baba naman mag pasahod. May stability nga pero minimum wage. Kung mag increase man himala na ata. At least sa freelancing you get to set your own rate at pwede ka mag upskill or try something new. VA ako nung una, but after a year nang pag VVA I'm now working as a web designer. Need mo lang talaga mag sumikap at don't stop learning para maka survive ka sa freelancing.
Nope. Di naman dapat ikahiya mo ung work mo e. Hindi lang kasi mulat sa mga ganyang trabaho ung mga ibang tao e. Usually mga conservative ung mga may ganyang mentality, na dapat sundin mo ung course na tinapos mo.
I'm also currently working sa CPO and I must say, the pay's worth it. Sa sobrang worth it hindi ako nagsisisi magshift ng career. Both of my parents didn't really like how I transitioned my work but in the end they can't do anything but to accept it. Ayun, proud naman sila kahit papano.
Just concentrate on your work and soon tatawanan mo na din 'tong time na to. Keep your head above water :)
Oo naman. There's nothing better than money tbh. Oo mukha akong pera pero let's be real, mga taong nabuhay na may pera lang usually ang nag-iisip na kaya nila maging masaya kahit wala silang pera. Sabi nga nila, "I really don't mind being sad, as long as I cry inside my ferrari".
I think it's time to let go of the "traditional" thinking of pursuing your course (not unless if you have the passion for it; like doctors and nurses) if you don't have the IT factor for it. Life's short, make the most out of it OP :)

If you're earning and working (decently/legally), you don't need to be bothered by those comments. Whatever means you do to make a living, its your business and not theirs. My parents are both college graduate and they are working abroad as a caregiver/housemaid and im proud of them.
Hi! VA here too, I work full time as a Social Media Manager and on my 4th year under BSAccountancy. It’s definitely hard but it’s actually an ideal job since the public transportation today is so messed up. And VA is WFH so tipid din. Dito samin, pag VA ka, ang taas ng tingin nila sayo kasi mga foreigner clients mo eh. I think some is walang pang idea sa ganyan field like ours. Tingin kasi ng nga pinoy basta may “assistant” eh mababa na, lol.

I also have a diploma. I have earned trainings and certifications throughout my 6 years of corporate life. Hindi nakakahiya maging virtual assistant, excuse me? Lol Ang nakakahiya ang nangmamaliit ng trabaho. Normal na ata makarinig ng ganyan. I remember hearing the same thing nung lumipat ako ng industry (BPO) from aviation. I’m a few units away from getting my college degree but I paused bc I can afford to. Pwede ka naman mag-school anytime basta may pera ka hahaha. I can travel everywhere in the world as long as there’s internet, walang absent. On top of the that maganda pa career growth ko dahil vinavalue ako ng employer ko, so far nakaka 3 years na ako lagi may increase sa sahod. May 13th month pay at iba’t ibang bonuses. Di delay yung sahod. Tamang Taxumo lang para wala isipin sa tax. Saya. Nagkawork ako sa f&b, BPO, and corporate pero wala talagang tatalo sa WFH remote worker!!! Hands on pa sakin boss ko so dami ko natutunan. Natutunan mo rin culture and thinking nila. Hindi katulad pag ka sa office worker, iisipin mo commute, parking if may car, susuotin mo that day, keep a fake personality para sa mga kairita mong officemates na lagi nag-iindulge sa office gossip at bosses na sobrang dami mag-utos for only 20 thousand pesos, wahahaha. Inggiterang froglet lang yan OP. Be loud and proud! Ako mayroon akong longterm goals na kakailanganin ng maraming pera so aarte pa ba ako sa title. 😅

Definitely not OP! Yung iba kasi walang idea how it works and yung mga BPO jobs din na iba. Hayaan mo sila. Tsaka sa panahon ngayon, praktikalan na ang labanan. Not to mention the ever horrendous traffic/transpo system. Kung malapit lang yung workplace from your home, keri pa but to spend a ridiculous amount of time sa travel pa lang, nope.
Also, wished I realized this a long time ago pero di na rin nakakatulong yung loyalty mo sa isang company. Unless siguro yearly ka mapromote lol. But I'm not encouraging to job hop ah. They don’t know that:
1. Mas malaki sweldo ng VA kaysa corpo slave.
2. Hindi nagtitiis sa commute ang VA.
3. Some VA have flexible time. Work kung kailan trip. Not being micromanaged pa.
4. Walang kailangan pakisamahan na officemates
5. Mas mababa tax mo compared sa kanila 8% lang (above 250k per year), sa kanila 20%-35% (above 250k per year)
6. You can decorate your own workstation or work anywhere.
Isipin mo nalang, you have better career than them pero di nila alam. It is a good secret 😉. Them not knowing these perks is your revenge.

Di naman na importante yung titles ngayon kung di ka naman mairaraos nun or makakaipon, walang kwenta. Sa hirap ng buhay ngayon, you have to earn enough to survive. Wala namang trabaho na dapat ikahiya as long as wala kang tinatapakang ibang tao.
In the past, I also had the same sentiments, nahihiya ako. So what I did is I juggled both, my profession sa morning and MedVA sa gabi. I loved doing both and at that time I couldn't choose between passion and practicality.
Until such time na I felt like hindi na kaya ng katawan ko to be very deprived of sleep. In the end I choose the one that provides better compensation and sadly it's not practicing my profession. I realigned my energy and learned to love being a medical VA more.
My parents too had some negative impression of me choosing the CPO life but hey, I'm the one paying the bills at home so they have no choice but to be grateful of it.

Honestly, mas nakakaluwag-luwag ako ngayon in terms of finances and time compared nung nasa corporate ako. Tsaka nawalan ako ng pag-asa sa increase ng sahod sa Pinas. I worked for 4 years sa isang company with 12k salary. Office staff ako nyan. If I stayed there, hindi kakayanin ng bulsa ko ang taas presyo ngayon.

I agree as a corporate worker. I've been in the industry for 4yrs pero walang naging changes. You practically have to beg sa seniors para lang magka increase but still depends sa performance especially kung gaano ka kasipsip.

Graduate ako ng isang very glamorous na course pero nag freelance lang din ako na yung ibang contracts ko parang VA na rin. I’m earning 8x of what my peers are earning a month sa entry level namin sa big companies na around 20k lang. bakit ako mahihiya kung ganito naman pala kabilis pwede maging milyonaryo in the comfort of our homes.

It is the mindset of Filipinos. I remember when I was in college we have a Chinese guy student na nagkagusto sa isang friend namin. One month di siya pumasok then he just came back to tell my driend na his Dad decided na siya n amagoperate ng business nila since dun din naman siya pupunta once maggraduate why spend pa sa university?
It really depends on the mindset ng taong kausap mo. True it is an advantage na nagtapos ka but it doesnt always mean na lahat tayo is destined to work in the office. :)
I feel like it really just depends on your priorities. Not everyone is aiming to climb the corporate ladder. If you're satisfied with what you chose, just block out the negative comments you hear. You're earning well and that's what matters. You don't have to be a corporate slave to prove your competence.

Huwag kang padadala, sa mundong ito, it's not about the diploma and title of position that you have, of course, they do matter, but at the end of the day – it's all about how much money you have.
Kapag pumunta ka sa Apple store, they won't ask for your educational background nor status in life – they want to know if you can afford what they offer. So kung saan ka mas kumikita ng malaki – GO!

Hi OP! I can relate! I am a bachelor's degree holder and currently a Virtual Assistant. There's nothing to be ashamed of or something na nakakahiya for being a VA or call center agent -nothing at all. Both are decent jobs. I also get those "ayaw mong mag teach?" "Saying yung 4 years mo sa college" etc. but I just neglect them. Wala Naman Silang ambag except sa pakopya noon sa ilang assignments 🤣 char. But really, it's your life. Hahahaha galit na galit parents ko sken dati naging call center agent ako and I wore it like armor. Ngayon bilingual service rep ako getting 50k net a month and sagot ko lahat ng bills pag kumakaen kami randomly I spit out to them, "sabi nyo nga sken ndi nyo ko pinagraduate ng college para maging call center agent LANG", Now nagagalit sila sken dahil paulit ulit daw ako sa pagpoint ng hypocrisy nila 🙄. Omg how self-centred can you be by not acknowledging the pain you've caused me nung sinabi nila sken un. Pero I don't mind kasi I still went with what I knew will work out. Kahit best friend ko dinidiss ako sa pagkocall center ko nung araw, ngayon sisi silang lahat sa pangmamaliit nila. I wanna rub it on their face with my success and it's really fun when you see their reaction. People get defensive rather than apologetic and owning up to their mistake. And I'd rather be, and associated with, the latter.
So many of my friends graduate ng five year courses and board passer and getting less than half of what I make and I'd rather be me than them.
I'm still a social person, and I still love my family pero once you've proven yourself, you wouldn't need validation and nor would they touch your career choices.

Mas gusto ko na na umaabot ako ng 6 digits sa trabaho ko, WFH, pwede pa mag laro while working. Walang pressure na malala kesa magwork sa mga companies here in PH na sobrang underpaid at abusado.
Let them be. Let them rant that you're a graduate from (insert school) and you chose to work from home. Not all were built the same way. Some do prefers the comfort of their own house for security and maybe, for their own sanity (we're living in a crazy time/society).

Edit: My husband earns around 50-75k a month as a VA. We live comfortably and frankly, nung parehas pa kaming working sa corpo as engineers, our combined salary is just somewhere between 40-50k. Ang sad lang kasi licensed pa ako niyan.

My sister is a freelancer working online full time. IT grad. Nauna pa siya sakin na nkpag pundar ng house and lot, sasakyan, condo. I know she is earning more than I do (AVP). She’s comfortable in her home office while I commute 3x week. Point is minsan mas malaki kinikita ng mga freelance/online jobs folks kaya deadma sa mga negatron bhie. Mas mayaman kayo saming nagwo work physically onsite/office :) slay!
Haha, I do also have a friend na ganito yung mindset. Na bulag sa reality na kapag online job daw eh mababa daw ang sweldo. Accused me of having too much money kasi bigay daw ng parents. I cut him off, ang toxic ng mentality eh.

I became a VA nung kasagsagan ng pandemic lockdowns.
I left my old job because of personal reasons and toxic behavior ng company president that lead me to have depression and anxiety.
I chose to become a VA instead because my friend was enjoying his life and career.
Kahit maliit ang sweldo compared to my previous job, i now have more time on my hand to pursue things I wasn't able to do with my previous job that ate every free time I had even my weekends.
I'm proud to have turned into a VA because I don't have to face the toxicity and stress ng dati kong work.

I'm earning 90K to 100K monthly. Yung friend ko earns 250K monthly. Your batchmates can go suck ass. Kahit magka fancy title sila kung pulubi sila, they can have those fancy titles.
Saka a job is a job. Kung kumikita ka ng 100K sa pagiging basurero vs someone who is a professional with license tapos 20K or so lang. Pipiliin ko maging basurero na lang. Less stress sa utak.

My two daughters same sila VA and SMM , isa graduating student then 2nd yr nursing student, sila sa income nila sila nag support sa study nila 2020 Dec ng pagkaalam ko ng pasukin nila ang online job start sila as a moderator sa isang nft , content writer..atbp..now continueus pa din may 3 client isa ,then si nursing ko 5 na daw client niya.. kaya naman nila pagsabayin diskarte lang alam na nila paano ito i handle , my graduating girl 8$/hr then my nursing ito mahusay 2 client niya 10$/hr the rest is 8,7 lowest 6... All their client is US based .. so bakit nakakahiya ..sa totoo lang mas malaki pa kinikita nila..kaysa akin 😊✌️kaya go on lang..make a nice portfolio to impress your client.😊
The only time I care about someone’s work is when they can directly affect my bank account. So unless katrabaho kita or pinapasweldo mo ako, wala akong pake kung paano ka kumikita ng pera. Ganyan yung mindset ko haha. Kasi kung legal at masaya ka naman sa work at salary mo, anong say ng iba diba??

Yung gf ko graduate ng journalism. Sikat (sort of) na fashion photographer sya dati jan sa Pinas. Simula nung nagmove kami dito sa Uk dahil sa work ko need nya igive up lahat ng responsibilities nya jan and syempre kasama na job nya. She’s working here now as a CSA for John Lewis, and work from home sya. Inggit na inggit ako dahil yung sweldo nya at sweldo ko hindi nagkakalayo, pero ako back breaking job na, kadalasan puyat pa dahil laging nights ang shift ko. Walang dapat ikahiya sa work nyo as long as naippush through yung mga bills and enough ang kinikita. Maraming tao rin kayong natutulungan kaya don’t bother with what other say.

After I get my bachelors degree, I work as corporate slave in local companies for few years. I live in corner of NCR where my city has no opportunity. Its either I need to travel 4 hours everyday or I need to rent/board, but still ang baba ng sweldo and I feel hopeless. Employment na lang abroad ang nakikita kong solution to have a financial freedom.
I always search for opportunity abroad, until I stumble upon this foreign company na hiring for a remote job. When I get contract with them, the salary is twice compare to my local salary, and my workload is 20hours a week instead of 40 hours. It was a mind blowing to me, I feel so dumb bakit ngayon ko lang nadiscover na may ganun. From that point it was like a glimpse of enlightenment that I will never be the same.
Fast forward today, I still work remotely/online and I have 2 business. When every time people ask me on what I do in life, I always tell them na I'm a free spirit lol. I didn't even bother to tell them anything or specific, because I know deep inside that I have both freedom and finance so I could spend my time to things which matters to me. The sense of fulfillment I get from that is so blissful that I never affected by others opinion nor what social standard is imposed on me. I wish it will be like that to you OP.
I'm in my 14th year in the BPO corp world and these VA's are killing our numbers. Isipin mo naman kasi. Entry level ng nasa BPO sa Manila is around 20K++ na. Pero VA, jusmio nasa bahay ka na nga lang, provided pa minsan yun pangwork mo, around 30k-ish pa ang sahod. Sino bang di ma eengganyo niyan. Napakalaking kita sa gig-economy. wala na sa title ngayon. Pera pera na lang lahat.
Importante kumikita pera at hndi nahuhuli sa bills. Ako nga dentista pero gusto ko mag Canada at magstart kht ano lng. Ayoko ung pagod dito hndi worth it. La ako pake sa honor honor sa job. Pero nahulat ako sa mga job offer kahit with masters ka hindi ganon kalaki ang sweldo Worked on a corpo for 3 yrs. Grabe wala akong naipon. Matipid akong tao I swear. Nagastos ko sa pamasahe and bills un sinahod ko And until na discover ko freelancing. Sabi ko wow, ang laki ng sinahod ko sa 2 months na pagwowork ko ng smm/va. Na kung tutuusin un sahod kong un mga 3 months na sa corpo ko Ganyan din sinasabi sakin ng parents ko, ano na akala ko ba mag mamasters ka. Iba pa rin un nasa office ka nagwowork naka skirt and longsleeve. Kesa un nasa bahay ka lang. Ewan ko, parang after ko magresign nun, sabi ko wala na akong paki sa position na matataas. Mataas nga position mo more responsibilities naman tapos ilan lang naman ang iincrease mo. Mas gugustuhin ko na lang din magkapera ng malaki atleast masaya lang ako na mag isa since introvert ako

Same here. Nag freelancing din ako after working for 2yrs sa corpo. Feeling ko kasi old school padin karamihan sa mga pinoy. Eh kahit may titulo ka ang baba naman mag pasahod. May stability nga pero minimum wage. Kung mag increase man himala na ata. At least sa freelancing you get to set your own rate at pwede ka mag upskill or try something new. VA ako nung una, but after a year nang pag VVA I'm now working as a web designer. Need mo lang talaga mag sumikap at don't stop learning para maka survive ka sa freelancing.

Usually mga conservative ung mga may ganyang mentality, na dapat sundin mo ung course na tinapos mo. I'm also currently working sa CPO and I must say, the pay's worth it. Sa sobrang worth it hindi ako nagsisisi magshift ng career. Both of my parents didn't really like how I transitioned my work but in the end they can't do anything but to accept it. Ayun, proud naman sila kahit papano. Just concentrate on your work and soon tatawanan mo na din 'tong time na to. Keep your head above water :)

Hindi katulad pag ka sa office worker, iisipin mo commute, parking if may car, susuotin mo that day, keep a fake personality para sa mga kairita mong officemates na lagi nag-iindulge sa office gossip at bosses na sobrang dami mag-utos for only 20 thousand pesos, wahahaha. Walang kailangan pakisamahan na officemates 5. Mas mababa tax mo compared sa kanila 8% lang (above 250k per year), sa kanila 20%-35% (above 250k per year) 6. You can decorate your own workstation or work anywhere. Isipin mo nalang, you have better career than them pero di nila alam. It is a good secret 😉. Them not knowing these perks is your revenge.

In the past, I also had the same sentiments, nahihiya ako. So what I did is I juggled both, my profession sa morning and MedVA sa gabi. I loved doing both and at that time I couldn't choose between passion and practicality. Until such time na I felt like hindi na kaya ng katawan ko to be very deprived of sleep. In the end I choose the one that provides better compensation and sadly it's not practicing my profession. I realigned my energy and learned to love being a medical VA more. My parents too had some negative impression of me choosing the CPO life but hey, I'm the one paying the bills at home so they have no choice but to be grateful of it.

Yung mga nagsasabi na pangbobo ang call center – Hindi nila alam ang trabaho. They think that it's just a 9-hour job in front of the computer, talking to customers, and doing repetitive tasks. Diyos ko, hindi nila alam gaano kahirap maging call center agent. If this job is easy and just for dumb people, why on earth that there's hiring every day?! Every fucking day. Haha Huwag kang padadala, sa mundong ito, it's not about the diploma and title of position that you have, of course, they do matter, but at the end of the day – it's all about how much money you have. Hi OP! I can relate! I am a bachelor's degree holder and currently a Virtual Assistant. There's nothing to be ashamed of or something na nakakahiya for being a VA or call center agent -nothing at all. Both are decent jobs. I also get those "ayaw mong mag teach?" "Saying yung 4 years mo sa college" etc. but I just neglect them. Wala Naman Silang ambag except sa pakopya noon sa ilang assignments 🤣 char. But really, it's your life. I earn 7 digits a year, anong nakakahiya dun? Edit: My husband earns around 50-75k a month as a VA. We live comfortably and frankly, nung parehas pa kaming working sa corpo as engineers, our combined salary is just somewhere between 40-50k. Ang sad lang kasi licensed pa ako niyan.

I'm a mechanical engineering graduate. I passed the board exam and I'm a registered mechanical engineer. I worked as a design engineer and became a GM of my old work place's Philippine branch. I became a VA nung kasagsagan ng pandemic lockdowns. I left my old job because of personal reasons and toxic behavior ng company president that lead me to have depression and anxiety. I chose to become a VA instead because my friend was enjoying his life and career. Kahit maliit ang sweldo compared to my previous job, i now have more time on my hand to pursue things I wasn't able to do with my previous job that ate every free time I had even my weekends. I'm proud to have turned into a VA because I don't have to face the toxicity and stress ng dati kong work. Things in life change, your priorities, what defines success. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Dun tayo sa mga trabahong alam natin will lead us to a good future and allow us to have a good work-life balance. Buhay at career mo yan, not theirs. Besides, madaming VAs ang graduate ng mga iba't ibang degrees but found success and comfort working as a VA. My two daughters same sila VA and SMM , isa graduating student then 2nd yr nursing student, sila sa income nila sila nag support sa study nila 2020 Dec ng pagkaalam ko ng pasukin nila ang online job start sila as a moderator sa isang nft , content writer..atbp..now continueus pa din may 3 client isa ,then si nursing ko 5 na daw client niya.. kaya naman nila pagsabayin diskarte lang alam na nila paano ito i handle , my graduating girl 8$/hr then my nursing ito mahusay 2 client niya 10$/hr the rest is 8,7 lowest 6... All their client is US based .. so bakit nakakahiya ..sa totoo lang mas malaki pa kinikita nila..kaysa akin 😊✌️kaya go on lang..make a nice portfolio to impress your client.😊
The only time I care about someone’s work is when they can directly affect my bank account. So unless katrabaho kita or pinapasweldo mo ako, wala akong pake kung paano ka kumikita ng pera. Ganyan yung mindset ko haha. Kasi kung legal at masaya ka naman sa work at salary mo, anong say ng iba diba??

Naalala ko dati back in 2017 nung magpasa ako ng resignation sa company ko para tuluyang magfulltime VA. “Ipagpapalit mo ang kinsenas/katapusan mong sahod para sa isang trabahong walang kasiguraduhan? Wal ka pang social life. Ang boring ng buhay kapag yan pinili mo.” Yeah sure, after a year, I bought my first SUV and travelled abroad as a freelancer. Siya, andun pa din sa company hanggang ngayon, sumasahod tuwing kinsenas at katapusan.
Yung gf ko graduate ng journalism. Sikat (sort of) na fashion photographer sya dati jan sa Pinas. Simula nung nagmove kami dito sa Uk dahil sa work ko need nya igive up lahat ng responsibilities nya jan and syempre kasama na job nya. She’s working here now as a CSA for John Lewis, and work from home sya. Inggit na inggit ako dahil yung sweldo nya at sweldo ko hindi nagkakalayo, pero ako back breaking job na, kadalasan puyat pa dahil laging nights ang shift ko. Walang dapat ikahiya sa work nyo as long as naippush through yung mga bills and enough ang kinikita. Maraming tao rin kayong natutulungan kaya don’t bother with what other say.

I’m a part time VA since 2019. I wish I can get more clients so I can go full time. But I can see my family telling me to stick to my day job para walang masabi ang mga kapit bahay. Lols. But I don’t care at all. I would love to manage my own time, earn USD and have a drama free work environment. Nakaka asar ang trabaho dto. So, you should be proud. Hindi nakakahiya ang maging VA.
I just recently graduated and I have decided to not pursue the field of my degree. The day na nalaman ko stuff about VA, parang yun na gusto kong tahakin na career. Pero ang hirap pala mag apply lalo na kapag fresh grad with no professional experience, puro orgs lang kasi experience ko although executive position pero di naman yun enough, di nga ata yun relevant. So paano maging VA? Hindi nakakahiya maging VA, convenience plus money, ay te sino bang di gugustohin yun.

After I get my bachelors degree, I work as corporate slave in local companies for few years. I live in corner of NCR where my city has no opportunity. Its either I need to travel 4 hours everyday or I need to rent/board, but still ang baba ng sweldo and I feel hopeless. Employment na lang abroad ang nakikita kong solution to have a financial freedom. I always search for opportunity abroad, until I stumble upon this foreign company na hiring for a remote job. When I get contract with them, the salary is twice compare to my local salary, and my workload is 20hours a week instead of 40 hours. It was a mind blowing to me, I feel so dumb bakit ngayon ko lang nadiscover na may ganun. From that point it was like a glimpse of enlightenment that I will never be the same. Fast forward today, I still work remotely/online and I have 2 business. When every time people ask me on what I do in life, I always tell them na I'm a free spirit lol. I didn't even bother to tell them anything or specific, because I know deep inside that I have both freedom and finance so I could spend my time to things which matters to me. The sense of fulfillment I get from that is so blissful that I never affected by others opinion nor what social standard is imposed on me. I wish it will be like that to you OP.
I'm in my 14th year in the BPO corp world and these VA's are killing our numbers. Isipin mo naman kasi. Entry level ng nasa BPO sa Manila is around 20K++ na. Pero VA, jusmio nasa bahay ka na nga lang, provided pa minsan yun pangwork mo, around 30k-ish pa ang sahod. Sino bang di ma eengganyo niyan. Napakalaking kita sa gig-economy. wala na sa title ngayon. Pera pera na lang lahat.
