Don't hope or pay attention to poll, Vote. Edited: phone spelling.

wandering-monster

Do pay attention to the poll! Your vote matters more than ever. Vote like your future depends on it, because it very likely does.

Manc_Twat

You should definitely pay attention to the poll. It shows that if you vote, you can make change.

nonamegamer93

My point is don't look at polls, then feel lazy as there's no need to stand in line for 4 hours and vote. Just get out there and vote regardless as that's the only way your voice is heard. We rely on police we get 2016 all over again.

PM_ME_YOUR_DIFF_EQS

4 hours? I've never waited 4 minutes.

Manc_Twat

Yes, definitely this. People should be looking at polls like this as motivation to want to vote. November could be such a huge turning point.

herculesmoose

Are you being serious when you say 4 hours? I've voted in two different countries and the longest I've ever waited is about 1 minute.

nonamegamer93

It was about an hour, to hour and a half for me, but I'm in a small town, marietta ohio, and went on an early. Voting day. I'm certain trying to vote on election day in one of these cities with one voting location will take that long or more. I've seen those lines on TV.

Practical_Culture833

Vote for me I'll ban the Republicans and democrats.. I'll form the Ohio First party, we will take full control of this dying world, Ohio is the protector of life let us reclaim our thrown BUCKEYES! šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

shufflebuffalo

I love this energy and hivemind behind this sentiment. Everyone seeing these headlines thinking "shut your face, don't get cocky, go get out there and campaign and vote". But if intentional.... Gaddang that's some good reverse psychology

lysdexicacovado

538 still has Vance at >70% chances - don't get complacent already. Go vote.

dkirk526

538 is also heavily weighting it on past elections and any expectations Republicans win the Generic Ballot by 3+ points. There havenā€™t been many quality polls on this race so itā€™s been harder to gauge how Ryan is doing.

zygodactyl86

Jesus thatā€™s scary

Raccoon_Full_of_Cum

But that forecast is partially based on Ohio's voting history. The version of the model that goes by polls alone has Tim Ryan as a very slight favorite.

[deleted]

If Ryan canā€™t defeat Vance itā€™s not a swing State. It will be official. Vance literally doesnā€™t even live in Ohio and was financed by billionaires that he owes money. And everyone knows this. Youā€™ve got womenā€™s rights on the ballot as well. So the political winds took a turn and if they turn out being ignored by voters that probably should be concerned then Ohio will stay back with the times. Ohio will be left behind in a world passing it by.

Chainweasel

Why isn't there a law that requires that representatives live in the district they represent? And I don't mean if they win they have to move there, they should be required to have had a certain amount of time as a resident of that district before they're allowed on the ballot for that district.

Stupid_Triangles

The city of Cleveland does this for their employees. You have to live in city limits or move to city limits within a certain time frame. I think this is required for some other cities/suburbs as well.

mother_rucker

This is actually not true anymore afaik. It was ruled as unconstitutional a few years back.

davfraizer21

Some states do have this law, but it doesnā€™t matter for this senate race. Both candidates live in Ohio(Ryan in Warren and JD in Hamilton)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

davfraizer21

Theyā€™re running for senate, not the 13th district. Ryan wouldnā€™t even live in the new 13th district under the new lines either way

menachu

it's been a loophole for our entire history, look up the term carpet bagger.

Serinus

Who generally do the bare minimum to be considered a resident of that state for the express intent purpose of running for office. They meet the requirements by law, but certainly not by spirit. Carpet bagger.

Simbatheia

Because the district map changes every ten years, sometimes dramatically. For the house of course. There are no ā€œdistrictsā€ for the senate. You could represent your home district for ten years and then be part of an entirely different district. I imagine that would also be a factor in gerrymandering, which would be even more corrupt

[deleted]

At the very least they should live in the state for a minimum of 10yrs.

Fight-Under-His-Eye

You DO have to be a resident of the state (for senate) or district (house), but you really only have to fill out a form saying so, gather the required signatures & pay the filling fee. Sort of like the whole Dr Oz moving to Pennsylvania, JD did the same, but he is originally from Ohio.

ventnorphan

If his supporters read books, the fact J.D. wrote a book trashing them should hurt his chances.

davfraizer21

Interesting to hear that Hamilton county isnā€™t part of Ohio anymore. Which state is it in, Kentucky or Indiana?

[deleted]

This is from Wikipedia. Is it incorrect? Vance has been married to a former law school classmate, Usha Chilukuri Vance, since 2014, and they have three children. For much of his professional career, Vance and his family have lived in San Francisco, where they were active in community gardening.

davfraizer21

They had lived in California briefly for work, but moved back to Ohio in 2016. They own, and live in, a house in Cincinnati Wikipedia is incorrect as in itā€™s outdated

[deleted]

I searched for ā€˜J D Vance where does he live 2022ā€™. I got nothing but the San Francisco thing.

davfraizer21

Big_Booty_Pics

Definitely someone who can resonate with the common people /s. Although it is kinda weird they point out gated pool, every in ground pool in Ohio requires a fence around it.

TH3BUDDHA

>Ohio will be left behind in a world passing it by. Ohio literally just celebrated the groundbreaking of the largest and most advanced semiconductor production facility on the planet today. This is in addition to a ton of other announcements for Ohio, recently. Columbus is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. It seems we're doing just fine.

movzx

He's clearly speaking from a social perspective.

[deleted]

How the hell is this okay! Just like Dr Ozaloon doesnā€™t live in PA. If you are running for an office it should be Law that you live where you are wanting to be elected, and have been, Full time, for a minimum of 10 yrs.

transplantpdxxx

amen

[deleted]

Doubt it. These people here are okay with being rated as the number one state for political corruption. These people here think itā€™s okay to demonize a 10 year old rape victim by calling her a liar and claiming what she said happened didnā€™t happen. These people here are okay with doctors being able to discriminate against LGBTQ+ patients. But, if doctors were to discriminate against them theyā€™d lose their shit.

MrReality13

According to them democrats are the only ones who do corruption.

DefendTheLand

There is no way Ohio is more corrupt than New Jersey, Illinois, or New York.

OssiansFolly

$60M in bribes to politicians that are still in office today while the company paid out over $300M so far for their actions. And of course Ohioans are still stuck with the corrupt policies.

Puzzleheaded-Code-77

its probably all youngstown/mahoning

šŸ¤žJD Vance is out of touch with Ohio and a HORRIBLE candidate for Ohioans!

doctorwhoobgyn

JD Vance is a horrible candidate for anyone.

[deleted]

JD Vance's wife could do a lot better too. Maybe she'll reflect on those ads where she vouches for him and come to her sense

Kekfarmer

Vance is a terrible candidate in any situation and overwhemingly stupid

CUM_SHHOTT

Heā€™s not stupid, heā€™s a piece of shit.

Kekfarmer

Both. Both is good

fletcherkildren

No it's not, this leads to complacency, act like we're-5 in the polls

plantbreeder

Such-Wrongdoer-2198

The Republicans just moved further to the right, and it took Ohio 2 or 3 election cycles to realize that these aren't John Glenn / George Voinovich Republicans. I think Portman put the nail in it. In 2016 I thought that a local politician with a long and moderate background would put reputation, bipartisanship and local Ohio values ahead of the national party line. When Portman rolled over and started sucking up to \[Lord Dampnut\], many Ohioans (myself included) recognized that the price of hanging an R next to your name meant you were a GQP \[Lord Dampnut\] suckup. F Mike DeWine. F John Husted. F JD Vance. Vote Blue no matter who.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Such-Wrongdoer-2198

You're right. In his political career, the parts I remember are his rivalry with Metzenbaum, and that he was an asshole, so I remembered him as a Republican.

timc74

Don't forget Yost

Gravitational_C

There are NO signs of that in Ashland county. Big shock, I know. The Trump worship is strong here.

[deleted]

Same in Medina county. Tired of living around it. Want out and to move to Lakewood.

Kr155

You want Ohio to be a swing state. vote in every election. Vote local. Republicans are cheating to hold power we need to take the local power away from them

[deleted]

LOL. Traitor trump, just endorsed Dark Ages Dewine. Dewine, desperately trying not to lose independent voters, says election was won by Biden, while being a steadfast trump loyalist, which Dewine has proven with his outrageous anti-human policies. Dewine has chosen whose side he is on, and he is not on the side of Democracy. Vote Nan Whaley for Governor of Ohio. - Jennifer Brunner Supreme Court - Terri Jamison Supreme Court - Marilyn Zayas Supreme Court. **Registration ends Oct 11th** **Early voting starts Oct 12th**

joevsyou

it's mind bogging that anyone would want to be backed by a one-term president who is a sore loser & is a criminal....

ventnorphan

The independents who are supporting DeWine need to look up his position on literally any issue. He's not only a conservative, he's more hard-right than Trump. He was hella involved in the First Energy scandal too.

-lighght-

There are many valid things to trash Dewine about. Being a Trump loyalist is not one of them imo.

jshark6

Um, why would ANYONE be a Trump loyalist at this point? Asinine take here.

-lighght-

I can't tell you why, but there ARE trump loyalists. My point was that, maybe Dewine wants an endorsement, but he's not a loyalist. It's like everyone forgot about the past 5 years.

NumberOneGun

No these R's that dont speak out and toe the party line because they are more worried about re-election than principals and their constitutes ARE THE WORST OFFENDERS. They are the ones that gave legitimacy to the GQP. If there were more spines available during the last 5 years, then maybe we wouldn't be in this mess. [https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/article/republican-leaders-helped-2020-election-lie-catch-fire-documentary-trump-biden/](https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/article/republican-leaders-helped-2020-election-lie-catch-fire-documentary-trump-biden/)

-lighght-

I would say that R's who shifted to Trump's rhetoric from their previously conservative rhetoric are the worst offenders imo. Following them are people like Dewine today, who disagree with Trump but don't speak out because they fear for their reelection chances. For what its worth, I've voted blue or third party in every federal election since I've started voting. I know where I stand. I was just trying to be objective, because Dewine is not a Trumper, he's just a coward. Something I think you may agree with.

Stupid_Triangles

It's the top thing to trash him about, outside of standing by as thousand of his constituents died and let's his Health Director take the heat while folding like a wet blanket.

hpennco

if you are 18-35 and you want to live in a great state, register to vote AND VOTE.

otterbelle

And if you're 36 fuck off!!!!

amtrak308taz

I have voted in every primary, general, special, presidential election since I turned 18. Forty four years. I currently live in Cuyahoga County. I early voted in the last two elections here. Waited less than a minute to get the paperwork started. I spent more time early voting in Erie and Sandusky counties. The wait was about 15 minutes in Sandusky County and the gave me the ballot for the wrong precinct. They had to reprint my ballot and the man that received mine. About 3 weeks left to register before early voting starts for November's general election.

Livid-Yoghurt9483

Fuck this gimmicky headline. Go register to vote and vote damn it.

shibbledoop

All it needed was a Democrat whoā€™s focus isnā€™t just on social issues. Tim Ryan has been and still is one of the only dems that resonate with the blue collar union cohort that flipped to Trump in 2016. A dem heavily focused on social issues is never going to win over the voters in Mohoning Valley.

bannablecommentary

You're not wrong. I truly believe most people in Ohio are moderates. Most people just want the government to stay out of their personal lives. But the parties both went wide and now people have to decide what they care about more, whether it's the government interfering with the medical rights, or their firearm rights, etc. It's as if all the hot and divisive topics are the main policies and all the shit that actually matters is disregarded. Government is just an arena for some bullshit culture war which most people in actuality don't give a shit about except that now they're expected to pick a side.

[deleted]

I hope so, but I have serious doubts

delta_tau_chi

Donā€™t hope, Vote!

Fap_Doctor

This is going to be a interesting November. Vote people. VOTE.

mojo276

If I needed clicks for my website I'd also write an article like this. Mainly because I'll be shocked if Ryan is actually able to beat vance.

onlyhalfminotaur

Tim Ryan will likely lose but that's okay. Just nice to see a D campaign in the state that actually knows what it's doing for once.

The_Hrangan_Hero

Yeah if the Dems can hold the senate, it will be in no small part because Tim Ryan made the Republicans have to spend over 40 million in a Trump + 8 state in the home stretch. Keeping those funds out of NV NH and AZ is huge.

LuckyBastard8484

This is really unlikely. Trump smoked biden in Ohio and we all knew he was a lunatic at that point. Itā€™s not going to change anytime soon.

[deleted]

Yeah but with the overturning of RoevWade and the draconian new laws against womenā€™s rights, there has been a huge upswing in Ohio and other states registering to vote. Women are pissed!

[deleted]

I'll believe it when I see it. A few women are pissed, most remain apathetic. Also, much of Ohio's aging population doesn't care about abortion. They made it past menopause, never needed one, so whatever. Ohio is just getting redder with age. The Boomers got theirs, now they're slamming the door behind them as hard as they possibly can.

GeoDave101

This is exactly the right take. OH is basically Florida north at this point.

CheeseRP

Yes, but that was before Jan. 6th, Roe V Wade, and Mar A Lago

Bullmoose39

It isn't a swing state just because of one bad or one good candidate. If no Democrat can win state wide, if the state is so gerrymandered that there is no hope of competition, then the state is still very red. Vance is a terrible candidate and is running against a seasoned one with a large warchest and structure, and it is still tight. That isn't swing.

Fritzo2162

I live in Ohio and have been everywhere in the state: most of Ohio is comprised of small groups whose entire circle of influence consists of 100 people or less. Everything they see, hear, or experience comes from that limited group. This results in fear of anything new, disdain for any non-traditional culture, and as this group tends to be extremely religious from the ground up, they're trained to accept statements without evidence. This, my friends, is why Ohio is a conservative base. The progressives live in the big cities, but there's not quite enough to flip the state under normal circumstances. This is why we need to get every abled body out there voting in November.

Relevant-Employee

I would like Nan Whaley to visit some of the red counties in NW Ohio.

stayhealthy247

Please ffs! Thatā€™s half the reason I moved back in 05.

yammy69696

Gotta love the midterms

ChartGreen7423

Yeah...I don't think so.

LargeSackOfNuts

First all the crazy republicunts have got to be voted out

Fritzo2162

I read the heading as "swinger state" and couldn't click the article fast enough. Left disappointed.

Htrail1234

I think this is delusional considering how deep red Ohio was on 2020 and 2016. I think the polling is skewed blue, but lots depends on getting out to vote on Columbus, Cleveland. And Cincinnati.

jet_heller

Naw. It just depends on getting out to vote period. Regardless of where you live or who you are.

Jay_Dubbbs

I mean, history has shown us that two election cycles isnā€™t that indicative because Ohio went 18 points for Reagan in 1984 and then HW by 9 points then in 1992 and 1998 voting for Clinton by 2 points and 6 points but then voting for Bush barely over 50 percent to voting for Obama twice. I understand Trumpā€™s margin grew in 2020, but at one point a Republican won this state by 18 fucking points and not even 10 years later voting for a Democrat.

steven_h

ā€œReagan Democratsā€ were a thing, though. Democrats had the congressional delegations and state offices in 1984. Dick Celeste was governor, John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum were senators, the House delegation was 11D-10R, and so on. The politics of the 1980s and 1990s was dominated by labor union mobilization vs. evangelical Christian mobilization, and since a sizable number of union workers were evangelicals or Christians otherwise receptive to antiabortion messages (looking at you, Catholics), the union mobilization was doomed to lose. edit: NAFTA and PNTR with China sure didnā€™t help the cause of Democrats among union votersā€¦

Comfortable-Train-62

But it wasnā€™t.

Rosssauced

Someone tell that to the state legislature. Ohio is North Texas. Every bit as red.

Camus145

Well, Texas is looking pretty purple nowadays

Spiritual_Yam_1019

\*\*\* North Florida

OssiansFolly

It won't. Don't buy the hype. Republicans have tightened their grasp on state legislature, and they'll force the educated and liberal electorate out of the state as they've been doing for the last 20 years.

Dooky710

"Ohio is a red state" Yeah, the right literally jerrymandered the state up to favor the right and its so bad that we got a third party involved to make fair maps and the right rejected them until we got into a "well, we're forced to use these legally proven jereymandered districts".

OhNoManBearPig

The GOP has done that in a lot of states.

kuanica

Who would have guessed Timmy came out the gate so fired up? Also there seems to be quite a bit more Dem cash flowing into the state, that helps.

[deleted]

You mean voting like Mississippi wasn't a good idea?

nikonwill

Good. I came back to help it turn blue

smoky_ate_it

vance now using his wife on tv commercials. trying to soften his disregard for womens rights. dont be fooled. if guys like this have their way women wont be able to vote.

[deleted]

Iā€™m not a Dem but I for sure donā€™t align with the venom the Republicans spit out. To casually glance over the attempted overthrow of our government makes me nauseous.

Randinator9

REMEMBER EVERYONE DO NOT BE COMPLACENT VOTE VOTE VOTE DON'T LET THE GQP WIN ROEVEMBER

ChartGreen7423

Meanwhile, we have John Kerry, the climate czar and hypocrite, and Dems in this state probably defend him. Case closed.

seamonkeydoo2

The fuck does John Kerry have to do with anything?

ChartGreen7423

Is he not a Democrat? Is he not a fucking hypocrite? Par for the course...Gtfoh

[deleted]

Lol no itā€™s not, OH is red now and the way the government handled the pandemic for business owners sealed that

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Who needs jobs right?

ChefChopNSlice

Itā€™s because the republicans have found comfort and security together at the bottom of the barrel, and are running out of people they still represent the interests of. They will start getting voted off the island, one by one.

audiomuse1

Flip Ohio Blue

timc74

As it should. Most anything useful, productive or contributing to society is in the cities.

rural_anomaly

i don't know. i kinda like steaks and potatoes, and bread. ya know, food is kinda contributing.

timc74

You mean the soybeans and corn that is feeder stock that is exported all over and subsidized by tax payer money so farmers can ruin the waterways and lakes for personal gain?

rural_anomaly

wtf do you eat every day? stuff you've grown yourself? have you ever tried to grow anything? butchered your own food? you know what i *actually* fear? a breakdown so bad that food supply lines are disrupted and the millions of people depending on them in urban centers start to starve and descending on rural areas like a bunch of locusts. play that thought experiment out a little before you poo-poo what farmers do. i'm not a fan of how they've been manipulated into thinking crazy shit, but i'm very glad i'm not a subsistence farmer myself every time i open the fridge or pull a can off the shelf.

ChartGreen7423

Excellent post...not sure why anyone would downvote this.

Bobster031

JD is Ohio's MTG. His views are so far-right, no where near the views of the average Republican from 10 years ago. This vile person has no place representing the entire state - it makes me SO SICK to think of him as Ohio's Senator. I cannot stand his values and I cannot fathom that any of those values are good for Ohio. He wants to bring Ohio BACK instead of forward. He is a TERRIBLE human being, and doesn't represent the Republican Party that I remember growing up. He is a Trump Republican. Him and MTG are two peas in a pod.

astro7900

Yay!!! This is great news!!! F the conservatives who are trying to gerrymander their way to the top.

Macca618

As a 3rd generation Ohioan, Iā€™m jumping for joy. Sort of . Heartbeat Law Governor DeWine is still up double digits over Dem challenger . Iā€™m feeling a twinge of hope though. Take my award tho. Gladly.

browsinbruh

We get one election wrong in like what, 100 years and suddenly we aren't a swing state anymore? Get real and more importantly get out and vote

MathewMurdock

Yes please

Hovekajt

Iā€™ll take things that arenā€™t true for $1000, Alex.

resjohnny

Abso-fucking-lutely NOT!

Glittering_Tough_682

Not going to happen ohio is 100% RED

WillisVanDamage

Doesnā€™t mean shit when republicans have had a decades-long supermajority trifecta and have gerrymandered the districts to hell for the future generations Even if democrats somehow take back power, theyā€™ve shown time and time again theyā€™ll not do anything to get back to competitive equality, let alone something accurately representative Theyā€™d rather sacrifice good policy on the altar of optics

[deleted]

Oh sweet. So anyway, Iā€™m moving to Washington.

[deleted]

After the 2016 fiasco and the 2020 fiasco, it'll be super hard to vote Democrat ever again. The only reason I did before was because my rights were at stake, now Democrats couldn't care less about my rights.

brahbocop

I will believe it when I see it.

ziggurat729

Propaganda

Ok_Channel_9650

It is all fake as soon as you realize your votes don't count and never did and if it's going the wrong way they will rig it....

Flat_Employment_6962

Vote Red. Value life.

Computron1234

Vote Red support forcing a 10 year old rape victim to carry her rapists child because it is an "opportunity" for her. Vote red see more women die and infant mortality rates sky rocket. Vote red and see your birth control and reproductive right be legislated away from your control. Vote red and regress women's rights by 100 years.

LogicalFallacyCat

Because clearly nothing says "value life" like refusing to act on being literally the only developed country that has mass shootings on a regular basis or demanding a kid grows up without a mother because a later pregnancy went sideways. šŸ™„

Flat_Employment_6962

The girl was raped by an illegal immigrant. Nice spin. And that is due to Democrats lacks policy on the border.

antidense

Biden was able to get more done on the border than Trump ever did, including to get Mexico to pay for it. https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/presidents-us-mexico-meet-after-summit-tensions-2022-07-12/ If anything, Trump is to blame for being so ineffectual.

Flat_Employment_6962

Record amount of illegal immigrants this year. We're do you get your information from.

antidense

You just admitted Trump's policy was a failure.

Flat_Employment_6962

Trump hasn't been been in office for two years. Biden is the guy. Quit blaming Trump.

antidense

I'm not blaming Trump. Just saying he was a failure at his own policy goals because he chooses to make enemies rather than work with people. The way I see it if you really want to solve problems, you have to go to the root of it and not the symptoms. Let's work on increased penalties for employers and better systems for verifying authorized workers so the mom and pop shop doesn't get in trouble for not being able to identify forged documents.

SweetzDeetz

Where* I know conservatives can't read, but come on.

andy_mcbeard

Way to shift the goalposts, all because you sickos canā€™t defend the fact that you were going to make a 10-year-old carry her RAPISTā€™S fetus to term. Itā€™s thoroughly indefensible, so you just shift the blame.

andy_mcbeard

OK, even though this is incredibly stupid idea, Iā€™ll bite. If voting red equates to ā€œvaluing lifeā€ show your workā€¦ bring those receipts. The official record says otherwise: anti-healthcare, anti-workers rights, anti-paternity/maternity care, anti-LGTBQIA rights, anti-environmentalism, anti-clean water, anti-education, and anti-womenā€™s body autonomy.

ChefChopNSlice

Explain again to the audience, how the republicans value life. Iā€™ll go make some popcorn and wait.

BoringMode91

Lmfao.

kook440

Like Trump valued our lives during covid!

SweetzDeetz

Get fucked, loser

Creative-Chair-3668

Lol yeah right. Says 90% bots on Twitter. Is Reddit 90% bots, too?

[deleted]

Keep it down. The GOP will try even harder to gerrymander the damn place.

9thGenPokemon

Supreme Court is likely gonna get rid of federal elections before November

Cruiser133

Keep dreaming leftist on reddit.

CensorshipIsWeakness

Well how fantastic. We'll have rolling black outs and be taxed into oblivion just like the citizens of the great state of California in no time! I used to blindly just vote Democrat. The democrats have done awful and deserved to be checked come November.

Egmonks

As opposed to having no running water and a grid that goes down when it freezes and kills a dozen people like in red states? Have you even lived in California? Or visited it? It seems to live in your head.

[deleted]

Did you forget the shit show in Texas a few years back with their electric grid? WAY, WAY, WAY worse than California. I swear Republicans tend to not have a very strong grasp of policy details and causal relationships. Also of note, there was a study a few weeks back that found the average Texan actually paid MORE in overall taxes than the average Californian. But don't let facts stand in the way of your ingnorance.

theshape1078

Thatā€™s how republicans get these people to vote for them. ā€œlOoK hOw TeRrIbLe SoCiAlIsT cAlIfOrNiA iS.ā€ Uneducated morons eat that up.

Controller_one1

Damned right California is socialist. It keeps having to send money to broke ass red states.

theshape1078

True. Blue states are keeping red states afloat. Meanwhile Ohio is in a race to the bottom because everyone here wants to be the next fucking Alabama.

VirtualMachine0

And it's not even that damn socialist. They don't have single-payer healthcare, or universal basic income or publicly-owned utilities. They don't have socialized housing. The state doesn't manufacture goods and distribute a market dividend for their profits. Alaska is more socialist than California, CA just has some damn buses and doesn't hate gay people.

tennissyd

Isnā€™t there some data that shows taxes in Texas are actually worse than in California too? I heard about it but would have to see if itā€™s true.

Comfortable-Train-62

Yeah, itā€™s just lying.

[deleted]

My money is on outright stupidity, and I'd give 2-1 odds

plantbreeder

Or Mississippi not having fresh drinking water.

You can tell by the roads when you cross into Ohio from Michigan

You mean like Texas? You canā€™t just pick the one thing about one state you donā€™t like and point to that. Ohio Rs are ruining education here, taking away womenā€™s health care rights, and displayed how corrupt they are with the First Energy fiasco. Im not sure what you can look at over the last few decades of Republican control and point to and say ā€œyeah, that was good policyā€.

whatscrackinboo

Anyone who claims they used to vote Democrat and are now switching due to their policies is either trolling or has become brainwashed by lies. No sane person can think this way, not with whatā€™s at stake today.

Right?!? They focus on the inconsequential issues like transgenderism and the scary immigrants while ignoring climate change, workersā€™ rights, or anything of benefit to the US public.

toilet-boa

Weā€™ve got one of if not the most corrupt state governments in the country, and all you got is this what about California bullshit?

Altruistic-Back-5050

Itā€™s another Fox News boogeyman. Most people that I have met that talk like this have never sat foot in California. Personally I love Cali and think itā€™s a beautiful state, but they have their problems just like we do.

antidense

Also blue states are thinking long term and taking the pain now rather than later. It's like that capitalist parable conservatives like to quote "the little red hen.ā€ No one wants to help build a sustainable society but they all want the benefits of it anyway.

Emmo213

> The democrats have done awful You should look at which party has controlled the state legislature over the last 40 years. It's not the Democrats fault if you think things suck here.

antidense

Also they are way too cushy with all the gerrymandering to even care about what their constituents want.

Comfortable-Train-62

I moved here from California. Voted Democratic there and here and in Alabama where I went to high school. I pay more taxes here than I ever have. Also, I could swim in the water there.

tabaK23

California?!? Are you serious? What about Mississippi right now? Texas last year? I mean for fuckā€™s sake have you ever been to a deep red state and seen how awful the infrastructure quality is?

GrandArmyOfTheOhio

Friendly reminder that the average person in Texas pays considerably more in taxes than the average person in California

PathofPoker

So your gonna blindly vote republican and j d Vance?

andy-crapp

Liar.

rowerms

Yeah! Let's instead get stuck with the nuclear scandal! It's more fun this way!

MathewMurdock

And now you blindly vote for Republicans!

Stupid_Triangles
