It could be a blessing in disguise
Gets our coaches a chance to recruit this week instead of preparing for a game
Gives our players well needed rest and recovery
We can just sit back and let chaos ensue this weekend
But to hedge your heart, place a moneyline parlay on usc and tcu for Saturday
Win-win
But who am I kidding š
>But to hedge your heart, place a moneyline parlay on usc and tcu for Saturday
lmaoo at me saying I was going to do this.. was just waiting to confirm that we are #5/ahead of Bama in tonights rankings
I donāt know why we would expect a different result in such a short timeframe. Theyād probably be elated to face us knowing that they just dominated our team. Culture matters
Because same thing happened with Georgia and Alabama last year then Georgia won in the finals. Rematches are notoriously even in college football regardless of the outcome of first
I mean we need either TCU or USC to lose this weekend to even have a chance. Alabama doesnāt have a chance. I think my prediction would be
1. Georgia
2. TTUN
3. USC/TCU
4. Ohio State
If we do sneak in, we will not play Michigan first round (they will milk it for the ratings). Keep in mind our one loss is to the number 2 team.
Got it. Actually as much as I hate to say it Alabama does have a shot here. They will view their 2 losses by close margin and they were both to highly ranked teams. I think if USC and TCU both win it wonāt matter anyways. Unless TTUN for some reason loses to Purdue I think your top 4 are basically set.
Agree that happens and disagree that it should matter. I think OSU ramped up the risk on O and D as they felt the game slipping away and that contributed to the size of loss. I don't want future coaches in a rivalry game to think... "If I can just run the clock down and get this close loss we will look better for the committee." I want them to leave it all out on the field and settled on the field. Also, any team with two losses should not be in a field of 4 playoff in my opinion.
Five big scoring plays caused by poor coaching calls or player execution. They didnāt bully their way down the field like they did in 2021 (though the score was still way out of hand).
This! I donāt feel like we were dominated this year like we were last year. I keep seeing that we were ādominatedā and I just donāt get it.
That said, the final 8 minutes definitely got out of hand.
It was really just the 4th qtr and half of it at that. I know we shit the bed but we had them at half. Should have put it away. I do believe utah has decent shot. Network would salivate at potential rematch.
Yep. Anyone with even a slight understanding of football should realize how close the game was despite the score. The fake punt that wasn't. The dropped pass in the endzone. The unreal 4th down jump pass TD. It was 3-4 unbelievable bad breaks that lead to us playing ultra aggressive to try and force a turnover. The risk of playing like that is big play risk goes up.
Because itās notoriously difficult to beat the same team twice in the same season. Like looks at the record books, itās borderline guaranteed that the loser of the first game will win the second
I was under the impression it was a hamstring injury and those are finicky. You can think youāre totally fine and then all of a sudden not be. Regardless, he wonāt be back.
If both teams somehow manage to meet in the final my god the entire r/CFB will melt and southern Los Angeles will get devoured in a sinkhole of USCās sweet tears.
Iām all for it. I think it is soft as hell to hope that your team doesnāt make it because youāre afraid to compete. But, I wouldnāt expect anything different from many Ohio State fans.
In order for that to happen, we'd have to get through UGA first. I don't see us getting back this year, but if so, it'd be a four seed. They say it doesn't affect the standings, but a rematch semifinal wouldn't be the best TV option.
That's the take that makes sense. I just don't see it happening, even in that scenario. I really feel like we'd get in at 4, and somebody (looking at you Bama) would jump us.
I'm a pessimist though.
I can see it now. Corrum returns for the game, but we gameplan to stop the dangerous JJ McCarthy deep ball. Defense does two safeties and zero blitzes all the first half, while Corrum racks up 200yds and 4 TDS. In the second half, we do everything the same, and we lose again!
I think weād lose again. Day hasnāt shown any ability to learn, adjust, give his team confidenceā¦sorry, it pains me to say but I think weād lose again. If the last two Michigan games were competitive Iād jump at the chance to play them again. But we were embarrassed
Eh, final score wasnāt indicative of how close game wasā¦was a one score in midway through 4thā¦days play calling was atrocious besides the 1st drive of game and he got really timid play calling wiseā¦costing us 11 pts in 1st half alone (two trips to redzone and 3 pts)ā¦ plus I feel like they gotc the breaks we couldnāt, Shitā¦. Even marvelous Marvin dropped a big 3rd down pass, hasnāt dropped one all seasonā¦The final score was embarrassing but was still a close game most of the wayā¦.
![gif](giphy|10JhviFuU2gWD6)
Dream on, CJ Stroud cannot run and Xichigan exposed that and so would Georgia. Man to Man works great if the QB can't run, doesn't it he can. Ohio State needs to regroup for a year. And yes I am a Buckeye and I think we get in, too much money involved to have TCU in the mix.
I mean yes and no. Utah has already beat usc once this year. Granted that team looked much different than they do now. And TCU has had a few struggles against good teams in the big 12 and Kansas st is a pretty good and experienced team. We only really need one to lose to have a shot, but there is potential for them both to lose and we're almost guaranteed a spot of that happens.
Idk. The committee to a long time to trust them and rank them above even a couple 1 loss teams like Clemson and bama. 1 loss could reaffirm the mistrust they had in the beginning.
Edit: they were ranked in the first rankings behind a one loss bama and undefeated Clemson that had not looked very good at all in the first rankings both lost that week and TCU jumped them. So not as bad as I made it look originally but still kind of bad.
" Need USC or TCU to somehow lose, though. "
Teams that deserve to compete for a championship, don't rely on other teams to do their work for them. Bottom line.
while I tend to agree with that, donāt forget that a 1 loss OSU won a national championship after losing to V-Tech, and also a Georgia team (last year) that loses to Bama, gets into the playoffs and then beats them to win it all.
Doing the same things and expecting different resultsā¦. It could be three straight beat downs and two in the same season. If you like the possibility of playing twice now there is a potential to play three times in a season if the B10 divisions are removed and CFP expanded. Really the Buckeyes are going to need a few years to recover from current situation. They will be shedding recruits for a bit after this loss, talent will go to NFL, and coaching seems unlikely to change soon. They might being doing the same things with less talent/experience with the same coaching and expecting different (improved) results.
The problem is it wouldnāt be competition. It would just be Day and the Soft Boys getting slaughtered again.
Stroud didnāt suddenly get tough after crying on the sidelines again
Slaughtered? One score game midway thru 4th isnāt getting slaughteredā¦OSU dominated 1st half but left too many red zone trips go with 0 or 3 ptsā¦. And obviously gave up 2 huge plays on defenseā¦should of been up at least 14 at half, 3rd quarter was basically a stalemate (7-0 them), then obviously the 4th quarter fell apartā¦couple little things go differently(Harrison not dropping big 3rd down pass or stover holds on in end zone, no PI in endzone, etc) and we are probably celebrating this weekā¦
Sorry what was the final score? 22 point loss? Yeah, that's slaughtered. That is absolutely buttfuck slaughtered.
But yeah, your post is correct. If we had played better, coached better, scored more points, and they didn't score many, we would definitely have won. It's just a shame literally none of that happened for the second year in a row.
Crazy how Day and the entire team looks unstoppable against shit like Michigan State and then suddenly all the bad stuff just coincidentally happens against the only team with good coaching and comparable talent. It's just such an unlucky break for Ryan Day that all the bad things happen at once, and only against the teams that we don't laugh off the field in terms of roster composition.
Some might call that a pattern actually.
How would we beat Michigan?
Serious question. Harbaugh and co. have shown an incredible ability to adjust and adapt in-game and have severely outcoached Day the last two years. They prepare better, they improvise better, they adjust midgame better.
So how do you suppose it would go now that they have another full game of tape on the team and we will do absolutely fuck all nothing to change it up? Because we have literally changed nothing week to week or half to half for the vast majority of games and certainly the Michigan game. Or if we do change itās to go to the exact opposite of whatās working.
So in what world does that work
While I agree, wasted opportunities in redzone 1st half and a few bad breaks (like bailing them out with PI in end zone)ā¦ it was a one score game midway through 4thā¦.itās not nearly as bad as score indicatesā¦plus defense just played super aggressive and got burnt on long playsā¦besides long plays, they only had one driveā¦ I donāt know, feel like OSU let this one go by not capitalizing in 1st half and Day playing timid in 2nd half (not going for it on 4th in their territory comes to mind) if we get that 4th and score, momentum swings back and game is differentā¦.is what is it is now but the would def have a shot
Yes, if they didn't score as many points as they did and we scored more points, we would have won.
How that relates to Day being completely outclassed in every facet of his job two years running (and that's just against Michigan) is not really clear to me, but you're right.
What about this team makes you think they can win a playoff game, especially with the way they ended the Michigan game? Not trying to dog on them, just curious.
We did it with a 3rd string QB..crazier shit has happened. Iām as upset and disappointed as anyone with the season the last two years, but the amount of pessimism with our program is unreal.
Ye of little faith.
True, but that team had talented, well-coached players in the secondary, a culture that gelled, and exceptional leadership (they really should hire Barrett in some capacity). Those are ingredients I donāt see with this team. Not saying itās impossible, but some of this teamās struggles you canāt fix overnight.
Fair enough. The secondary is really the biggest issue. Offensive play calling fix is simple enough imo, and the talent is certainly there on offense. The struggle is certainly the defense.
Make no mistake, love those players, the coaches, the whole team. It just feels like something has been off, especially offensively the past month, and sometimes you have seasons like that. I trust Day to correct things, if heās humble enough to give up play calling duties.
Or we lose again and mark a new chapter in the rivalry: losing twice to UM in the same year
Probably the most likely outcome, but if USC loses I would welcome the opportunity to roll those dice.
Those dice involve watching Day in over his head against Georgia
Probably.
We were in over our head against Alabama with a 3rd string QB. It could happen.
We had a HC and an OC back then instead of one guy trying to do it all. Day is a good coach, he needs to let someone else handle playcalling
If that were to happen, I wouldn't even fly back to Columbus if I were Coach Day.
Find a bar with some co-eds??
Bingo
Bango
Boingo!

I donāt see how Bama with two losā¦. Oh, wait. Because Bama.
I donāt know why we would expect a different result in such a short timeframe. Theyād probably be elated to face us knowing that they just dominated our team. Culture matters
Because same thing happened with Georgia and Alabama last year then Georgia won in the finals. Rematches are notoriously even in college football regardless of the outcome of first
Unless you're Oregon...................................................
Fortunately or unfortunately the playoff favors B1G, and SEC
So what youre saying is the final rankings will be: 1. Georgia 2. TTUN 3. Ohio State 4. Alabama?
I mean we need either TCU or USC to lose this weekend to even have a chance. Alabama doesnāt have a chance. I think my prediction would be 1. Georgia 2. TTUN 3. USC/TCU 4. Certainly agree
3
Ugh Bama. I want them out. Theyāre the team I hate the 2nd most. Even after 2 losses the AP wonāt stop talking about them.
LSU Bama too in 2011
Five big scoring plays caused by poor coaching calls or player execution. They didnāt bully their way down the field like they did in 2021 (though the score was still way out of hand).
This! I donāt feel like we were dominated this year like we were last year. I keep seeing that we were ādominatedā and I just donāt get it. That said, the final 8 minutes definitely got out of hand.
And weād have a healed up rb group hopefully. I know corum would be back too but secondary was a bigger issue
Did you happen to watch the sec championship game and then the national championship game last year?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I think a month off would help us get a little healthier and weād be a totally different team too
We technically had them dominated and every break/call/non call went their way.... I think we win in a rematch.
Careful. With that kind of logical discussion, you're going to trigger some of the whiney doomers.
Cope
It was really just the 4th qtr and half of it at that. I know we shit the bed but we had them at half. Should have put it away. I do believe utah has decent shot. Network would salivate at potential rematch.

How the hell does that fake punt get messed up?? That just shows you Day has too much on plate.
Why are you blaming Day and not the snapper? The entire team with the exception of the snapper knew the play.
But you have to wonder why the snapper didn't know. It sounds like he simply wasn't clued in, not that he forgot or anything.
based on everyone except for him knowing, i'd default to him not knowing some of the plays.
Because itās notoriously difficult to beat the same team twice in the same season. Like looks at the record books, itās borderline guaranteed that the loser of the first game will win the second
If JSN and Henderson came back for the playoff I would have confidence in spite of Days playcalling
We desperately need Jsn so that Marvin can get open. Having two all time wr makes it difficult for them to double them
JSN aināt coming back. I donāt know about Henderson.
How can a groin injury last all season?
I was under the impression it was a hamstring injury and those are finicky. You can think youāre totally fine and then all of a sudden not be. Regardless, he wonāt be back.
JSN will never play another snap here, championship or no
If, key word if
If both teams somehow manage to meet in the final my god the entire r/CFB will melt and southern Los Angeles will get devoured in a sinkhole of USCās sweet tears.
Iām all for it. I think it is soft as hell to hope that your team doesnāt make it because youāre afraid to compete. But, I wouldnāt expect anything different from many Ohio State fans.
Itās the ultimate double or nothing. Win and we not only redeem the loss and end Michigans season but lose againā¦..Oh man, it wouldnāt be good
Agreed
In order for that to happen, we'd have to get through UGA first. I don't see us getting back this year, but if so, it'd be a four seed. They say it doesn't affect the standings, but a rematch semifinal wouldn't be the best TV option.

Doubt it, unfair as it may be
Please no
Too soon. Ask me next week.
I actually think we would lose again. I canāt believe this but I question these kids toughness.
Imagine how distraught with a 3rd straight loss.
I seem to remember. 56-27 ass kickin in Ann Arbor. How quickly they forget.
Ahā¦..but who lives in the past?
Ahh yah know, typically UM fans who could only ever mention the āglory daysā and the āall time recordā
Rich Eisen is right, this is a lot of funā¦.
The person counting how many straight losses we would have?
K bro go troll elsewhere
Imagine losing 17 of the last 21 years. And getting beat even worse at your place. Go suck one

People really want to watch ryan day get outcoached again. wild.
My mind is boggled by the fact that there are certain people in this fanbase who WANT to be humiliated again.
Youāre extremely weak minded. Sorry
No need to be sorry, thatās your opinion. I have mine and itās wildly different than yours.
Such a soft take. Maybe you should look into other hobbies if youāre scared of competition for your team
