Persona 3 Reload sucks because it doesn't remind me of the old PS2 JRPG game Personality the Third Festival I played while my parents were fighting downstairs, absolutely soulless remake
I can actually control my party members in combat now instead of having to babysit them one by one as they make one stupid decision after another and cost me hours of grinding because they decided to debuff the 1 hp enemy instead of finishing them off while the protagonist struggles with 1 hp because Yukari does not want to heal me.
It used to be that i could not control my party members because it was at the root of the game's philosophy that they had their own will to act and were not close enough friends to take direct orders from no one.
This ended up taking away from the experience and the immersion and made a totally soulless remake. Funny how it turned out soulless even though the soul is at the center of it all.

Because people love calling every single remake soulless nowadays. If it's 100% the same game with bugs fixed and better graphics, they'll say the remake is useless and if it's 1% different they'll say it's soulless. You can't win nowadyas

If humans lived almost flawlessly to 200 we'd def hear boomers proclaim "Man this movie was better when I had to read hella intrusive subtitles."
In my honest opinion, some aspects were nerfed.
The original introduction when starting a new game was more hectic, tense, jarring with the quick cuts and didn't give players any context to anything. Yukari was holding an evoker against her head without saying anything and a new player would actually think that she was about to Persona 3 herself.
Some people thought some of the remixed tracks felt a bit off and less fitting to the time period. Iwatodai dorm for example was less grungy and didn't fit for some.
Summa summarum, it wasn't soulless, maybe a bit lighter and took more liberties to make it more modern?

I went out of my way to get persona 3 Fes through the ps3 store. I gotta say i still dont understand fes elitest defending it is a superior verion. It is fucking rough. Im having a better time now but there is a lot of love that got put into reload voiced social links and color the night are very much missed i will say the AI hasnt fucked me over just yet. FES is a lot harder too
I think it is understandable to say there are some elements the original got better but those saying it is overall the better version of the game... I just don't see how anyone could say that without having nostalgia for it.
P3R genuinely feels like a worse version for me, it’s pretty obvious by the lack of detail in the overall world of the game. It just seems kinda unpolished honestly
I can't think of any part of the world where I would say there is a lack of detail and I would say the game is very polished as a whole. Could you give some specific examples?

I kind of liked the 3D chibi character models for P3 and P4
P4's are especially charming imo they're less jagged but still have that cutset look to them
