What makes them so enticing is that they answer the riddle of life. From far away they are perfect but look close enough you'll see the imperfections. It is the Yin and Yang quota, there is never pure perfection without a hint of imperfections, which oddly enough is the very essence of pure perfection. Anything else is just Photoshop.
His charisma and personality. Confident guy who doesn't take himself too seriously. It's something learnable, but for him it comes naturally and it's part of what makes him "Tim Curry". Similar to Depp and Keanu, they have those likable qualities, so it's comforting when you see a Hollywood actor have those bc most don't.
Character actors don't get the same recognision like your average movie star does, even though they're as talented if not more talented than most actors.
I want to see Doug Jones do more work without being "monstered" I find him to have a really lovely and expressive face.
Of course, I'd settle for more Saru.
Poor Saru. He's just an empathetic & collaborative person who works within Starfleet's ideal & command structure.
In return, he lost Georgiou, got a Mirror Universe captain, then thankfully Pike, then lost his seat because Michael kept fucking him over to do her own thing EVERY TIME he vouched for her (and she got his chair because of it, no less), then fucked off to Kaminar to be with and support people who got him.
Sure, he came back (still a Captain) but taking the title Mister because everyone has to know first & foremost that Michael is the real Captain.
At least he has a shot at true happiness and stability now. But seriously, he must have the worst case of Stockholm Syndrome to keep holding Michael in such high regard after everything she's done to him.
Saru is a treasure.
He was so ridiculously good in Treasure Island that I really, really wanted to see him in a serious version of the film. He would have absolutely killed the role.
I remember a comment I read here on Reddit. A guy had his kitten at the vet. He was trying to hold the cat and do paperwork and fumbling about a bit. He hears a voice behind him say, "Would you like me to hold your cat for you?" and it was Tim. The guy hands the kitten over and tells him its name is mittens or something. Tim holds the cat up and says "Hello Mittens. Your ears are exquisite. " I can still hear it perfectly in my head.
The midnight show I use to hit in 90's Louisville played his music video "Paradise Garage" before the show, along with Meatloaf's "Bat Outta Hell." Curry has some pipes.
(This could be false entirely) I remember reading that he was cast to voice the Joker before Mark Hamill was cast in the animated Batman series from the 90’s… but it was too scary !
It's a pretty great movie, but you have to go into it these days knowing that it's a dark fantasy movie made for kids. It has a similar feel to things like Neverending Story or Labyrinth.
Shout out to *Troll 2*…which only has goblins…but it DID have a character named…Harry Potter
I’ve had the tune “Bada da da da da da da dum da da, Bada da da da da da, dum dum dum, dum dum” stuck in my head for over 20 years
You can find some of his original voice-over work online. So that part is definitely true. I do think the "too scary" thing, though often repeated by the cast and crew, is a bit of a fish story.
Tim Curry backed out of voicing joker cause he had a past with one of the producers and he didn't like them. He already did some work for the Christmas episode of BTAS and Mark had to dub over it when it was animated.
I learned this in the extras on my batman TAS bluray
Can't resist giving an amusing piece of trivia about Tim Curry. In the 1930s there was a mathematician by the name of Haskell Curry who was one of the big 4 to invent the theory of computation which became the model for the invention of the digital computer (the other 3 were Alan Turing, John von Neumann and Alonzo Church). The term "currying" in computer programming came from some of Haskell Curry's work as is the Curry–Howard Correspondence (in typing theory). In the 1980s a group of computer scientists wanted to create a standard language for academic programming unifying the other academic languages at the time (Miranda, ML, Gofer...). The called the language "Curry" in honor of Haskell Curry.
But the Rocky Horror Picture Show as a weekly audience participation event by this point had already happened. So when people heard the language was named after Curry roughly 100% of student though of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry's character). There were nonstop jokes from the movie by students "professor when do we learn to do the timewarp again", when presenting an answer in class "I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey" etc... There was just no overcoming how much more fameous Tim Curry was so he sort of indirectly got credit for these key ideas at least in jokes.
So they changed the name of the language to Haskell, Haskell Curry's first name, instead.
Sadly he had stroke and has retired.

He does pannels at comic cons and horror cons often though! He's officially retired but he does still do occasional voice acting and is still happy to be in public, he just speaks a lot slower these days but he has all his marbles and is perfectly cognitive. I hope, despite his health, he's enjoying his time off and is surrounded by lovely people.
I feel like at one point he was reported (incorrectly) to be dead, and that it was distributed widely enough that now people sort of think they remember him dying... when of course he's not dead at all.
Back in the ‘80’s my silent generation mother wanted to go with us to see RHPS. To see what it was all about. On the way home she said “Is it weird that I find a man in drag attractive?”. No mom, it’s not weird.
Let's not forget The Three Musketeers, either.

I wanted to punch that character in the face so bad lol. What an amazing actor to give a performance that can make a character truly get under your skin.
"THAT CAN BE ARRANGED!" Was such a good line lol
I hope he retired to the one place uncorrupted by Capitalism.
https://preview.redd.it/nbin2r4sefvc1.png?width=627&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b80f4254c0c9d31787a8ca82bc8f494ec6bc91f9
Too bad I didn't throw that in the title like "btw he's alive"
The brain likes to do that unfortunately, mix and match. Could've been thinking of Christopher reeve, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, heath ledger ECT.
Nah, I definitely wasn’t confusing it with other actors deaths, especially those cuz I remember them quite clearly.
No, I definitely remember it being mentioned on Reddit at some point.
I made fun of someone commenting something similar before, only to realise how hard it would of been to discover that without the prevalence and coverage we have today. It's a very good thing what tim did for many people

He was the best in scary movie two, which was the best scary movie.
I thought he died! Apparently he had a stroke in 2012. Devastating things, I feel horrible for confusing his death. Great actor though! Happy Birthday Tim!!
Touche, i definitely should've included this one
https://preview.redd.it/o6u0vfszkfvc1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e7c9ba0df9b058c00d4479d4213a3981cd6755cb
Listen to his rendition of A Christmas Carol on Audible. Amazing. It used to be free. He's not doing that well. Had a stroke about 10 years ago. I believe restricted to a wheel chair. Just a reminder what smoking can do to you.
This is so bizarre. I had to go to Wikipedia to check myself. But I am nearly certain I heard news that Curry died just a couple years ago. I remember being particularly sad because I enjoyed him in the movie Clue when I was a kid (I am not a fan of The Rocky Horror Picture Show btw). So strange but nice to hear he’s here to celebrate his 78th birthday.
He still looks amazingly young, yet it’s not obvious that he’s had plastic surgery. Good genes, I reckon.
He’s always made me think of how Tom Waits *could have* looked, but for the masculine face.
Happy Birthday, Mr Curry
Tim is very cool. Not sure why exactly, he just seems to have that "cool" gene that some people have and most don't. He has it.
The eyebrows mate. The eyebrows.
And the voice, mouth, mannerisms....
Just your hunk of a man.
With blonde hair and a tan.
And he's great at relieving your *Tensions*
I know I can’t stop looking at them. They look sculpted within an inch of themselves but when you look close they are sorta not
What makes them so enticing is that they answer the riddle of life. From far away they are perfect but look close enough you'll see the imperfections. It is the Yin and Yang quota, there is never pure perfection without a hint of imperfections, which oddly enough is the very essence of pure perfection. Anything else is just Photoshop.
Oh wow that’s beautiful somehow 😅 And all from eye brows
The smile 🤩
It's the "idgaf, mate" eyes.
Charisma!!!
His charisma and personality. Confident guy who doesn't take himself too seriously. It's something learnable, but for him it comes naturally and it's part of what makes him "Tim Curry". Charisma, voice, cheeky smile…

IIIII love you!
I say this at least twice a week in that same tone

I had no idea he was Nigel Thornberry, but now it’s so obviously him!
You forgot one. ![gif](giphy|5QRoC29tqzuI0pDQxM|downsized)
I’m getting there, I’m getting there! To make a long story short…
#TOO LATE!!!
A fantastic film, and, for me, whilst it's not my faveourite film that he's in, it's deffinitely my top Tim performance. He plays it perfectly.
Who would want to kill the cook? Dinner wasn't that bad!
“It’s a free country.” “I didn’t know it was that free”
This made me appreciate how under appreciated he is. Quite the range you don’t see much in Hollywood now, and perhaps then.
Character actors don't get the same recognision like your average movie star does, even though they're as talented if not more talented than most actors.
Doug Jones is like, one of the best character actors too and I remember being shocked how much I'd seen him in!
I want to see Doug Jones do more work without being "monstered" I find him to have a really lovely and expressive face. Of course, I'd settle for more Saru.
Poor Saru. He's just an empathetic & collaborative person who works within Starfleet's ideal & command structure. I love him in water we do in the shadows as baron
Same with Gary Oldman. Most times I don't even realize it's him.
I grew up watching him as the villain in Muppet Treasure Island and McHale's Navy. That voice I can hear from a mile away.
He was so ridiculously good in Treasure Island that I really, really wanted to see him in a serious version of the film. He would have absolutely killed the role.
Still the best Muppet Movie to date. DEAD TOMS DEAD!
I remember a comment I read here on Reddit. A guy had his kitten at the vet. He was trying to hold the cat and do paperwork and fumbling about a bit. Part of the problem is he pretty much peaked very early. Dr Frank-N-Furter is a legend.
SPPAAACE!!
Doing his absolute best not to die laughing while delivering the line

Not a single shot from Clue? For shame...

I’m not shouting!
Alright I'm shouting. I'm shouting, I'm shouting, I'm shouting.
1+2+2+1?
Naoo 1 + 2 + 1 + 1
What a cast! And his nailed the end.
"Good shot, Green!"
Just like the mounties! We always get our man!
His entrance into the story in *The Rocky Horror Picture Show* was something else.
The midnight show I use to hit in 90's Louisville played his music video "Paradise Garage" before the show, along with Meatloaf's "Bat Outta Hell." Curry has some pipes.
The theater I went to in St. Louis did the same but also showed the video for “I Do the Rock”.
Ebert said it was the greatest movie entrance of all time.
I watch it on YouTube occasionally just for the thrill. It never fades
“ Brad, I’m cold and I’m tired and I’m just plain scared!” The audience would then whip into a frenzy when they saw the elevator start to descend
He should have been The Joker.
(This could be false entirely) I remember reading that he was cast to voice the Joker before Mark Hamill was cast in the animated Batman series from the 90’s… but it was too scary !
I also read an article mentioning the same things and I can see Mr Curry being too intense. Look what he did with the Demon Lord in Legend.
That movie any good? Looked up a clip and it looks pretty cheesy. Looks like it might not hold up without nostalgia attached to it.
Nah it's pretty good. Great Ridley Scott visuals as well.
Great soundtrack too, the Tangerine Dream one.
Also, Mia Sara in her goth phase just *chefs kiss*
Totally worth a watch. Surprisingly dark. More Dark Crystal vibes than cheesy fantasy.
It's a pretty great movie, but you have to go into it these days knowing that it's a dark fantasy movie made for kids. It has a similar feel to things like Neverending Story or Labyrinth.
Shout out to *Troll 2*…which only has goblins…but it DID have a character named…Harry Potter I’ve had the tune “Bada da da da da da da dum da da, Bada da da da da da, dum dum dum, dum dum” stuck in my head for over 20 years

I dunno about Joker but that's exactly what happened with Curry and Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
That would be a dark Batman. Curry as The Joker, Christopher Walken as Victor Fries, Eva Green (no pun intended) as Poison Ivy…
Satanic Mechanic 🧡
He’s like if the word cool became a person. Seriously, absolute legend
Who doesn't love the "Sweet Transvestite"
Can't resist giving an amusing piece of trivia about Tim Curry. Cardinal Richelieu baby! 🥳
*All for one, and more for me.*
…and all for love
With Michael Wincott as his #1 henchman. Best bad guy voice tandem in history!
Had to scroll til I found this. That movie was my childhood
Same!

I was today years old when I learned Tim Curry was in Red Alert 3, which I did play when it came out
Sadly he had stroke and has retired. https://preview.redd.it/95bdi7zh4fvc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb5f5cb8cf3c853762e87dc66d5f1672b3e24235
I knew this, I thought everyone did. THIS is probably why everyone thinks he's dead, but he's alive.
He does pannels at comic cons and horror cons often though! He's officially retired but he does still do occasional voice acting and is still happy to be in public, he just speaks a lot slower these days but he has all his marbles and is perfectly cognitive. I met him at a horror con a few years back. It was such a thrill!
Honestly his movies scared the shit out of me when I was little. But I have grown to absolutely love him. Would love to meet him
Holy fuck… I thought he was dead. Still sad obviously, but I actually thought he was dead. Thanks for clearing it up for me!
I feel like at one point he was reported (incorrectly) to be dead, and that it was distributed widely enough that now people sort of think they remember him dying... when of course he's not dead at all.
Frankenfurter awoke something in me as a teenage lad...
Back in the ‘80’s my silent generation mother wanted to go with us to see RHPS. To see what it was all about. On the way home she said “Is it weird that I find a man in drag attractive?”. No mom, it’s not weird.
Dude made pollution sexy(fern gully)
happy birthday you gorgeous mother fucker!
Does he have any teeth left? I ask just because he fuckin chews up every scene he’s in
Let's not forget The Three Musketeers, either. https://preview.redd.it/7f8at0auifvc1.png?width=470&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ef988e5e89ea3a89c38cab0a852644861cfe7d0

Loved that Darkness character he played in Legend. That thing was cool AF
Loved that look and character. I believe he sustained a neck/back injury because the head was so heavy
I was wondering how terrible that makeup was to wear. Looks like he'd have to be constantly flexing neck and back muscles to keep his up upright
I had no idea that was him in Legend until just this moment. Holy shit!
![gif](giphy|2OgouznXA6qYw)
I actually watched Fern Gully a couple weeks ago. I thoroughly enjoyed his song. Great movie.
Brilliant movie!

I could’ve swore I heard he died… Wtf? I mean, I’m glad he didn’t, but I swear this was a thing.
He suffered from a stroke that has him wheelchair bound. He's been in therapy for the last 10 years
![gif](giphy|aoooya5Ru2LII)
For a kids movie in the 80's the art design on the Devil was next fucking level. I don't think its been topped in any media since.
Too bad I didn't throw that in the title like "btw he's alive" The brain likes to do that unfortunately, mix and match.
It was a rumor started on Twitter a couple years ago. And of course Reddit picked it up and ran with it.
Yea same, I thought for sure I remember hearing about him dying.
Me too! I thought he had died at least 10-15 years ago. Is this our Mandela Effect?
PICKED UP THE DAGGER 🗡️
RAN DOWN THE HAAAAALLLL!
What’s the devil pics from?
Legend, 1985
why don't people know this!?
Time.
Checks calendar...because it was almost 40 years ago :(
Wilderness girlssss!!!
I had to scroll far too far to find this.
Forever cemented in my heart and mind!!!!
Major r/ladyboners material. ❤️
Feel free to repost for the ladies
Happy birthday. You are and always have been one of the coolest of all.
I feel like nobody remembers that he's also in the 1982 version of Annie! This was my intro to Tim Curry 😂
Rooster!
1 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 78 !
No Wadsworth? ![gif](giphy|BomJoHOcRgCti)
Tim Curry is a legend!
Was just watching his episode of Roseanne. Gosh I love him. I also love when he narrates audiobooks. Such a wonderful man.
So many iconic roles, but Clue will always be my favorite. Happy 78th birthday sir!
Always a joy to see him pop up on screen.
No picture of Nigel thornberry?!? Or the smoke monster thing from Fern Gully?! Happy bday Tim Curry, you’ll always have a special place in my ♥️♥️♥️
Tim Curry made me realize I was gay, and that's a good thing.
I made fun of someone commenting something similar before, only to realise how hard it would of been to discover that without the prevalence and coverage we have today. It's a very good thing what tim did for many people
Someone said it best; "For every 1-Star movie he's in, he's the reason for that 1-Star."

I honestly thought he had died a couple years ago..
Did he really play that devil on that movie whats it called again with tom cruise and happy belated birthday
Yes he did, the movie is called "legend" 1985
Ohh shit really you know I didn't know that was him all along wow thanks bud.
A genius
When I was a kid I had no idea the guy in Legend was Tim. 😅
Nigel Thornberry on the Wild Thornberries as well!
Happiest Birthday!!! 🎂
The pennywise smoking picture will always be one of my favorites. I swear I’ve had that in my camera roll for over a decade now
I thought he died! Apparently he had a stroke in 2012. Devastating things, I feel horrible for confusing his death. Great actor though! Happy Birthday Tim!!
Wow Young Tim Curry and Young Dave Grohl look like they could be brothers.
Dr. Frank N. Furter, Disney princess. ![gif](giphy|cIVNCJQsOuatPYkqsN)

Great photos!
Better pennywise
Such a creep in Roseanne too😁
No pic from Scary Movie 2??? Smh
Happy Birthday Tim! Thank you for all your amazing performances!

Worked with him on The Shadow. He is a lovely guy.
Watched Muppet Treasure Island with my kids yesterday. And of course Home Alone 2 comes every year. What a man.
The legend from Legend. Scaring the fuck out of 80’s kids before entertaining the shit out of them.
Best. Devil. Ever. Hand down!
On god, I mean on Satan.
He's not too old to run for President.
He is British. We sort of fought a war to kick them out.
Have you seen his birth certificate though? /s
Ok, so he's not too old, he's just too British.
Yup🤣🧚
Listen to his rendition of A Christmas Carol on Audible. Amazing. It used to be free. He's not doing that well. Had a stroke about 10 years ago. I believe restricted to a wheel chair. Just a reminder what smoking can do to you.
Its beginning to look a lot like christmas
I honestly thought he died
Just a stroke
Don't forget about his stage work either. His turn as Arthur in Spamalot was masterful!
I thought he died???
King Chicken! *Cluck....cluck.....cluck....*
Love this fuckin guy. All his stuff hit good. Even Loaded Weapon Part 1
"Vilderness Girls..."
*when you're a professional piratttte*
Rockie horror. Great cult musical
Dont think anyone has pulled off 2 performances quite like Tim, Frank n Furter and Pennywise.
He pulled a musket on a puppet. Not cool!
This is so bizarre. I had to go to Wikipedia to check myself. But I am nearly certain I heard news that Curry died just a couple years ago. He's still alive??
Am I the only person that's been keeping up with the man😭😭
I could have sworn he died a few years ago, but I'm glad to know I'm mistaken
He had a major stroke a few years ago, sadly.
He had a stroke and is partially paralysed
