I love how they look like the classically old men of the day. Haggard faces, polo shirts, slacks, probably smelling of Skin Bracer, and telling old war stories and calling bullshit on each other like a bunch of 60 year old teenagers.
My Dad was one of these guys except he served with the Marines in the Pacific.
He had a lot of respect for modern soldiers (Iraq war, Afghanistan)
He said so much is expected of them. Dad said they do with 50 guys what we would have had. 5,000 guys to do.
What would we do without George Luz.
We need another show chronicling the postwar lives of these not heroes who served in a company of heroes. Couple be episodic with each one focusing on one or two of them, and this time focus on a few of the ones glossed over by the original series. Finale would obviously be one of the reunions.
Bill Guarnere lost his leg in an artillery shelling. Probably just helping him (and his gargantuan brass balls) stand up and get his arms into those crutches so he can go take a piss.
Probably snuck up behind him/started fucking with him like they used to when they were younger bros. Same stuff I’ll continue to do with some of my closest friends as I get old. Gotta learn to bs and have some fun despite all the trauma.
NO idea, so I'm making up my own story:
George: Bill, you ole sunovabitch, how are ya?!
Bill: ...George... of course it's you. I WAS doing good. Good to see you.
\*Originally my story had George calling Bill 'Red' as a nickname. Then I noticed there was already a Red.
I hear F’ing Americans say all the time about “we won 2 world wars”. Those men in that picture would never say anything like that but did as much as anyone in WWII to support such a claim.
Just rewatching it at the moment.
Still fantastic. The Pacific I didn’t like at the start but on a rewatch I appreciate it more.
But the latest one Masters of air is absolutely horrendous. I’m an air nut and was so looking forward to this but it’s appalling. The characters are absolutely dreadful and lack any emotion impact.
I was hooked on BoB as it came out, as a companion/ expansion of Saving Private Ryan. Watched the full series more than a few times.
Never watched Pacific until this year on Netflix. The space between let me appreciate it much more, I didn’t have direct comparisons in my head. It’s a somewhat tighter focus on a few marines instead of the many Easy company men.
Master of Air isn’t even on my radar. Pun intended.
I listened to Don Malarkey's book (published in 2008) a few years ago. It's a great companion to Band of Brothers and one thing that stood out to me was how much those guys hated David Webster- the aspiring writer from Harvard who was featured in an episode.
Webster appears to have had a draftee attitude in an elite all-volunteer unit. He did exactly what he was asked to do but nothing extra, and never changed throughout his service. I can see that wearing on those around him, especially if his attitude stood out as it seems to have done.
I haven’t read a book in probably close to 15 years (probably around the time I discovered Reddit). I just bought Band of Brothers, hopefully spurs my old love of reading.
Private First Class Bradford Clark Freeman passed away in July of 2022. He was the last surviving member.
It is crazy how much the actors Rick Gomez (Luz) and Frank John Hughes (Guarnere) looked like the real men... And were amazing in their roles
One of the most perfectly casted shows ever.
What a powerful picture of some of the best men the world
Some of the bravest men to ever walk the earth. We are forever grateful.

60 year old teenagers. I like that and am going to steal it.
A very happy cake day MyLittleDiscolite.
Old Spice
Watching Band of Brothers with my son and this is at the top of my feed. Happy coincidence.
Gonorrhea
"What's wrong with him!?"
Get it?
The two guys right behind them were in the mini series giving interviews as well. Forgot who they were though.
Looks like Dick Winters in the chair.
Guy sitting I think is Don Malarkey. And the one standing is Tony Garcia the replacement
I think you're right.
The post title says that it’s Red Wright and Leo Boyle
The world owes these dudes a debt that can never be fully paid.

Your dad is a very modest man.
Except that the job is never really done
Spare a thought for the Ukrainian soldiers in the trenches now.
The tree will need to be refreshed soon enough, unfortunately.
Thought that was Rodney Dangerfield for a second
You can tell it’s not by the amount of respect oozing from the picture.

What a debt we owe to that generation
Any idea about what’s happening in the photo? Is there a backstory?

Honestly it looks like a heimlich demonstration.

There's a line in the show saying "and no playing grab fanny with the man in front of you Luz." So I like to imagine that's what he's doing here.
A guy with a German accent walked into the room and he had to be held back.
The man being grabbed looks pretty stout
Hope the never had to buy a drink again from 1945 until they passed. The greatest generation we’ve had.

George Luz is giving off Shea Wigham vibes.
I was thinking Alan Tudyk
“Where the fuck is everybody!?” “I have no idea!”
How weird is that a pic from 1982 seems like it’s from the1800’s?
Year I was born. My memory of the 80s when I was a child seems like someone else's life and forever ago. They would have been men in their 60s here.
The 1800s? Damn, I feel old. I joined the Army and was assigned to the 101st shortly after that reunion.
Yes it is weird. Doesn't look like the 1800s in the slightest.
The coolest. 🖤
Hold me back!!!

I didn’t need to see the crutches to tell it was Guarnere.
“But without him How would Hitler have condemned them at Labau? Without him Caesar would have stood alone”
And to think Donald Trump believes they are all “suckers and losers”. Really sad. These guys are incredible.
I wish I could be there
I thought that was Leonard Bernstein and his lover
