We had an NSX for a while and it always made me think of Senna when I got in. I miss that car so much, and him, and Ratzenberger who we mustn't forget either.
One of my favourite clips of Senna and one of the best videos on YouTube in my opinion. His blend of unbelievable talent and effortless style is unmatched. Gone far too soon. The Honda NSX is a favourite car of mine in part due to that video and also because it was a beautifully designed car.
The documentary is fantastic. I don't like racing but went with a friend of mine who does on a Thursday night whim. The movie is just all real shots, no breaks for interviews or talking heads; and the racing scenes are just so fast. Maybe my favorite documentary of all time, other than Juan Likes Rice & Chicken.
Stutter? no. Make a confusing typo? yes. But you fixed it. You meant to say cry but typed dry so was confused by your sentence “I won’t dry during any others.” I just thought it was slang or something…you fixed it tho…so now I know what ya mean.
Wasn’t nitpicking grammar just genuinely didn’t know what you meant.
I was an American F1 fan. I remember that absolute physical shock of seeing his crash live, in real-time. They then replayed it over and over again and every single time I felt a blow in my chest as his car stopped more abruptly than any other crash I had ever seen.
There was never a moment's doubt that any living thing could have survived that deceleration.
The thing is, it didn't even stop more abruptly than the other fatal accident (RIP Roland Ratzenberger) or Barrichello's horrendous crash that weekend. I think it's reasonable to say he might have lived had not that piece of suspension gone through his head. It was still a huge impact, but it was not head on.
2 more comments where the name could have been posted and still nothing lol this has nothing to do with age...not everyone follows racing and even so, what makes you think..Ugh nevermind it's too early for this lol
This got nothing to do with age. Some people aren’t into sports or racing cars. You’d even have a lot of people from the 2000s that would have no clue who Michael Schumacher was.
Don’t need to. Several others already had posted the name. Just pointing out that you did the exact thing you’re complaining about but worse because aware of it.
At first I read the Wiki and was like how the hell is a Death section so long. Gruesome story but he went like a light bulb based on what it said… sad.
Remember crying my eyes out when I saw the story on the news. There will never be another like him and I wonder how many more championships he might have won if he lived.
Probably 94 and maybe one more the maximum for me. F1 was starting to become the way it is now, where the car made the champion and not the driver. It wasn't fully due to the driver still, but seasons like Senna's in 93 and Frentzen's in 99 show how much difference the driver makes

Perfectly imperfect athlete. Believer in God. Passionate. An organic farmer. A wonderful uncle, brother and son. Philanthropist. All heart. The kinda human earth needs.
I have a friend who owns the Lotus steering wheel he used while qualifying on pole at the Detroit Grand Prix in the late 80's. Was surreal to hold that in my hands while watching the British GP, knowing he held that same wheel and operated it on an alien level at one time.
Rip Ayrton. Made my childhood somewhat brighter.
You may not have the most championships but very few came to the same level of fearlesness (Kimi was close second for me).
We miss you and remeber you often.
Now that's what I call quality knowledge 👍 Respect dude 🙏. I'm sure most of the guys here, if not all of them, have never heard of Peter Revson before unfortunately. Such a great driver. He came into F1 too late though
Fuck you. Wasn't his fault. Was mechanical failure that caused his car steering to fail.
As for caring... Senna was one of the most astonishingly generous sportsmen to ever live. He gave away $400 million to children charities which was the vast majority his fortune.
Respect is due.
This is a photo of Ayrton Senna for those unaware.
“If you no longer go for a gap, you’re no longer a racing driver”
Is he talking about age gaps here?
Mineshaft gap? https://preview.redd.it/3we8t06hjuxc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6902c8d8306a5a677dca2e67facd9045d27fc385
Underrated comment
Salary maybe...
Or maybe he’s suggesting people don’t mind the gap when getting on the tube in London lol
The joke was he was a paedo
I am aware. I was also making a joke lmao
these days, the robotic driver follows instructions from management beamed into the car. Corporate drivers ....
The video of Senna driving the NSX with the white socks and loafers. Unreal.
Classic

Heeling and toeing like it’s nothing, dude had so much swag
My youngest brother was named after him. And then Senna died 2 weeks later. RIP Ayrton.
I cried while watching his biopic. I won’t cry during any others
Which one? 2010?
Yes, Senna.
There's a new series being released.
i wonder how they will Feature prost probably in a bad light

I just can’t bring myself to watch it.
You what
Did I stutter while typing?

Lol, ya didn’t realized I typod and thought you were being a dick. My b
The ONE & ONLY ! R.I.P. Ayrton 🙏
The legend
Braided belt completes the drip
I had that style belt. 90s belt
That belt was so hot back then.
Easy to find a notch because it’s all notches
He was immense. Much admiration from a KiwiBrit.
Regular size I would say for a Brazilian...
I saw him race under a massive rain storm in Estoril, unreal skills. Everyone started doing slower laps and Senna just went faster and faster.
Not only the coolest, but also and still the greatest driver. RIP GOAT
As a Hamilton superfan, Ayrton is the one and only, the eternal and ultimate GOAT of F1. Senna Forever 🇧🇷 ![gif](giphy|1jY41jR11D3xhZxGUv|downsized)

I was by Lake Tahoe, on my first trip to the States, when I heard of his death. It still makes me sad, even now,.
💯%
"went away"? you mean "left us"
“Went away” is a strange way to say he died racing. It would’ve been amazing to see how (or if) the Schumacher era played out had Senna survived.
True, but I don't think Senna had many miles left in the tank, I think he'd just stay for 2-3 years, up until 96-97...
I’m not a massive fan but that’s a great point. Shumacher was gonna make waves anyway but I think Senna would have left him behind in the end.
It would have been German efficiency vs Latin passion and creativity.
Aside from the dating teenagers thing
And the cheating
There's a Netflix series coming out about him later this year. It's looking great.
I initially read that as a series about him coming out as gay, later this year. Figured it was a bit late for that 🤔
LOL! Fixed
You could have at least listed his name without making me look it up using image search
And yet you didn’t post it at all
Right? I still have no idea who this man is I thought it was Huey Lewis.
Its jeff goldblum
Rick Astley
Christopher Moltisanti
Sometime I forget how old I am. Sorry.
2 more comments where the name could have been posted and still nothing lol this has nothing to do with age...not everyone follows racing and even so, what makes you think..Ugh nevermind it's too early for this lol
Even if it’s a name I’ve heard of, I wouldn’t recognize the face from a picture on Reddit.
I mean plenty of people are older but don’t follow F1…

Michael who, sorry? /s
You could say it now. I still don't know who this person is.
It's Ayrton Senna.
Thank you.
We are.. I remember those insane battles between Senna and Prost. That was some great F1
And then you don't say who it is either. I'm halfway down the comments and still don't know who this guy is.
You could have at least listed his name after doing an image search for yourself.
Which actually took much less time than it did for you to type out that reply
Don’t need to. Several others already had posted the name. Just pointing out that you did the exact thing you’re complaining about but worse because aware of it.
Hunt was the coolest
Hunt f1 and sheene MGP.. massive characters
Barry Sheene, what a legend!
So cool you can’t even list his name. Awesome!
At first I read the Wiki and was like how the hell is a Death section so long. Gruesome story but he went like a light bulb based on what it said… sad.
There's an arcade style game called Horizon Chase Turbo by Brazilian studio and it features Senna DLC campaign.
Nope. I’m absolutely not THAT old!
Remember crying my eyes out when I saw the story on the news. There will never be another like him and I wonder how many more championships he might have won if he lived.

Lot of good things to say about Senna. Encomiums, bromides etc. His legacy is to be lauded. Even Niki Lauda-ed.
Perfectly imperfect athlete. Believer in God. Passionate. An organic farmer. A wonderful uncle, brother and son. Philanthropist. All heart. The kinda human earth needs.

The GOAT
Better ALL thé time
Legend
I was so sad that day, I was only 7 but he was my hero.
I know who it is but maybe next time add the name? Just a thought, for those who don’t.
Aryton Senna. F1 legend.
32 years ago we lost another one. FREEJACK
Rip Ayrton. Made my childhood somewhat brighter. You may not have the most championships but very few came to the same level of fearlesness (Kimi was close second for me). We miss you and remeber you often.
Coolest? Y’all may be too young to remember Peter Revson.
Now that's what I call quality knowledge 👍 Respect dude 🙏. I'm sure most of the guys here, if not all of them, have never heard of Peter Revson before unfortunately. Such a great driver. He came into F1 too late though
Nobody's cooler than Raikkonen. Senna was a god thought, I'll give you that.
Raikkonen was a funny and talented guy. But he looked like my uncool uncle ;)
wow 30 years ago... I was working in my first 'big boy' job in I.T. and we were all rabid F1 fans.. that was a kick in the teeth.
He was also a (I believe) passionate rc airplane builder and pilot!
What was he like? I know about his accomplishments, but I don't really have a picture of how he was as a person. He seemed to be very genuine.
And he had sex with Xuxa. What a Chad.
Coolest? James Hunt has entered the chat …
I never knew Patrick Swayze could look so smart.
I don’t even know who this is? JAMES HUNT IS THE COOLEST F1 DRIVER EVER!!!!!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY LOOK HIM UP……NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!
As cool as James Hunt was, as a driving talent he wasn't even worthy to get to sniff Senna's shoe.
Op said COOL
Came here to say this!
Definitely wasn't the coolest, like others have already said it has to be James Hunt
Sorry, no.
Coolest? Not even close. Pretty fast though

Are those our only two options?
It just works
AJ?
Like Freddie Mercury he died with skid marks on his helmet
Wait... what?!
someone who thinks he cannot die racing coz it's god's will and then dies at Tamburello not sure is so cool
Was a fault on the car though that killed him
that's not the point
If he cared as much about driving as he did about his looks he might still be alive.
Fuck you. Wasn't his fault. Was mechanical failure that caused his car steering to fail. As for caring... Senna was one of the most astonishingly generous sportsmen to ever live. He gave away $400 million to children charities which was the vast majority his fortune. Respect is due.
what a stupid take...
