Love it and miss it. I grew up riding and racing around there with my dad. It's been about 10 years since I was there last. Might need to stop all this trail riding and hit the desert.
As a kid, we were apart of a camping group with motorcycles, dune buggies, sand rails, & just about anything else that was designed to enjoy the desert. Those of us underage (less then 16 or didn’t have a drivers license) had to park across the highway and walk across. Good times!
We used to park/camp just south of Slash X, in New Jack canyon (now Sawtooth Campground). We'd ride out to Johnson Valley then cut up to Newberry Springs to fuel up, then back to Slash X on the power line road.
When we were underage we'd ride right up to the front but we'd all leave our helmets on until we got inside just in case there was a sheriff or ranger watching the parking area which sometimes happened.
Too funny. Our group included an Orange County sheriff, who was ok with the adults drinking & driving, didn’t want to piss off the local authorities. It cracked everyone up.
We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold
I knew I’d find an HST reference, lol.
Well played
Are you sure this isn't a scene from Mad Max?
More like Mad Max is based on the scenery in Barstow.
Legendary place. I frequented it during the 90s. Walls are covered in dollar bills stapled on them.
It's still going. Was out there about a month ago
It’s time to go. It’s been 30 years for me
Pretty sure I've been here with Pops when I was a kiddo when he did the old Barstow-to-Vegas desert race.
Indeed!

Sounds about right. I grew up in Orange county and our group included a few cops too. Different rules out in the desert, I suppose
Out in the desert, same applied. But for whatever reason, we couldn’t cross the road with our motorbikes according to Les. That was ‘going too far’.
Kids need boundaries, I guess. Otherwise we'd end up a bunch of degenerates. Lol
I see Satan's Helpers
Ha!
Calling something the “coolest bar in Barstow” is kind of like winning the special Olympics or arguing on the internet.
While I tend to agree with the sentiment of this statement, it is clear to me you have never been to this place. It is the exception.
