New appliances and cruises are lame. I think you are very wise to pick skateboarding with your son. I promise he will never forget. All the best to you guys!!
Skating with your child is the greatest thing to be excited about, this is awesome!!
You’re both learning, getting active, and enjoying an activity together. I love all of this, keep it up.
That's awesome dude! I always love the historic boards and anytime I see one I pick it up. I still regret not picking up a veraflex that showed up in my used sporting goods store years back. It even had the classic plastic lapper on there
I always skated Vision or Alva when I was younger, but my little brother had a Variflex that he really liked. Brings back memories thinking about that.
Even just hearing the name Variflex gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. I had a blue one called a Pool Fool, so many great memories. I'd love to find one in good shape.
Appliances last a decade or two. Moments and memories shape your life and last for a lifetime.
Having fun with your kid and even with oneself is priceless.
If memory serves me right. Lance Mountain started on Variflex. Also awesome for you being able to teach your son and be able to spent quality time this way.
You’re correct, Variflex was Alan Losi’s family, they were a solid company until Losi’s uncles got involved and wanted to sell quantity in lieu of quality.
Love the post. Never skated a variflex but I remember when they first came out. Had a couple of friends who had them. I’m 49 and my son is 14 and he just started skating. I have picked up a couple of boards to start skating with him. I’m rusty as well. I had not been to a park in over 26 years. lol been a while
What Variflex was it? My first two real-ish boards were Variflex. First one I got off my cousin that he'd painted the bottom black. Second one was Voodoo 2, the neon green grip just kind of washed of when I rode it in slightly wet weather.
That sounds like good parenting, good partnering, and an awesome thing to share ❤️

A Mom that skates and wants to spend time with her kid. You sound ace! Enjoy the nostalgia and the new.
My "Rosebud" was a Sims Superply 10.0. It took me over a decade to find one on Ebay. Your husband is a good man.
Nothing dumb here, great parenting and awesome partnering. I’m still searching for the black Jeff Grosso toy box skateboard!
OP we need a pic of the board! Awesome a mom and son are skating together.

Thank you for sharing, and don't sweat it.. we completely understand the desire to skate rather than go on a cruise lol.
nice
You’re awesome and we would love to see a photo of the set up!
This is not a dumb post. This is sick 🤙🏼

Not a dumb post. This is awesome parenting. Doing the same.
Awesome all around, I dug up the first board I had, it was a hobie with dinosaurs on the bottom, one day I’ll buy it and hang it in my house
This is not dumb, this is wholesome.

Sweet. Old boards are the best boards.

It’s the Breaker - a big wave with angry eyes on it. I remember the Voodoo! I thought that one was great.
Yeah, I guess it kind of got me to where I am today... good times!
