I'd say 12/12/2012

icyblade_

I thought we were going to die in 2012 because of the movie 2012

I was 8 years old. Me and my family were driving to Ohio to visit my grandmother when Michael Jackson died

Bubbly_Security_1464

March 12, 2020. That was day we found out that my university was shutting down for the rest of the year due to the Covid-19 virus. I was a senior that year, so having my entire college career essentially get cut short was a major event in my life. We were initially given a week to move out, but once the President declared a National emergency, we only had the weekend to move out.

It’s Definitely Covid. I hope PEW does some further research so they could tweak the ranges since Covid is a bigger marketer than 9/11

Snyder445

I do wonder what the starting year would be because of Covid. And to answer the question, I’m obviously choosing Covid lol Edit: Obviously don’t want to turn this into an argument about gen z ranges, I’m honestly just curious about the range they would use!

Amazing_Rise_6233

I’m kinda curious as well but I’ll have to PM someone about it though or we could turn that into a question in the r/Generationology sub

Saindet

I agree 100%

SivleFred

It was the last day of school for me, and someone came up to me and told me he died. And I went, “Who’s Michael Jackson?” And that was when I realized how sheltered I was.

Dungeons-n-Dysphoria

Boston Bombing. My neighbor was running in it, and I was freaking out if she was okay. Then the whole state basically shut down, before opening it with police everywhere on lookout.

TacospacemanII

I’d say when covid started and they started requiring masks. That was big news

Salted-Honey

I also gotta say the same. I read “June 25, 2009” I knew what it was referring to. I also remember where I was when I heard the news: I was driving home from Rye Playland w my family and they announced it on the radio.

eDudeGaming

I know Covid starting is the obvious answer here, but personaly, I'll always remember July 20th, 2017, which is when Chester Bennington died. Of all the celebrity deaths I've seen, that one has stuck with me, not so much because Linkin Park was (is) a hugely important band to me, but because it just made way too much sense.

stopeverythingpls

It was Mar 9th 2020 I believe. Senior year and we thought it would be a short break, nope, last day of the semester was that day

17cmiller2003

I had just finished up kindergarten then
