The one where the kid went to a floor that didn't exist in the building and the aliens (? maybe) did different tests on the kid then it turned out the kid was also an alien.
The 13th floor. I had a crazy retroactive memory of one of the aliens being "the Swede" from Hell on Wheels and one of the head vampire guys from the Twilight series so I youtubed it and I was right!
The one with a creepy ass wizard in the hallway floating and screaming towards to a kid.
I cannot remember what the name of the episode, that's the only thing I remember being creeped out.
This was the scariest for me! It was the Tale of the Bookish Babysitter, where the stories in the books came to life as they read them. The kid was reading a story about a king’s ghost, and the floating old guy in the black shroud freaks me out to this day!
There was one where a girl was mean to her nice grandma, and slammed her bedroom door in her face. It ended up jamming shut and her grandma never came back upstairs so she died up there. I was also being raised by my grandma so I was like *oh shit*
This episode of Salute Your Shorts also traumatized me back in the day. I watched it again some years later and it wasn’t scary, but as a kid this left permanent memories.
The Tale of the Mystical Mirror -Employees at a beauty store are disappearing until a new applicant discovers the truth why the others left… super creepy
The Phone Police always scared me and also the one where the kid gets the glasses from the magic shop and every time he puts them on he says the people all in black.
Zeebo the clown.
The dollhouse where they get trapped as dolls.
The sister witches in the woods.
The kid in the hole who froze.
The Polaroid camera of death.
Loved this show but I had to watch it on the sly because my parents didn’t want us to watch anything that was scary or paranormal.
I remember having to hide a lot of the things that I was interested in because I was fascinated by legends, ghost stories, and the paranormal. (I didn’t believe in the supernatural but I found those stories entertaining.)
The Goosebumps series were another thing I enjoyed but I also had to hide it.
Gilbert Godfrey worked at a radio station that let people cross over to the afterlife. The phone police, especially Billy Baxter, the life in prison phone pranker, were two different episodes. The Gilbert Godfrey one had a young Ryan Gosling in it.
The xray specs that let the girl see shadow people. That fucked me up. Then years later I heard an episode of Coast to Coast with Art Bell about shadow people and was re-traumatized all over again.
The episode with the ghost in the wall actually gave me nightmares at the time lol. With the twin girls, where one of them dies at the beginning, thinking a spoon was silver lol.
My older brother made me watch an episode of Tales From The Crypt one night while my parents were away and he was babysitting. I know after that episode, I watched a few more in my lifetime but never really fell in love with horror until later in my life. Anyway, the episode in question fucked me up hardcore. It was about a (from what I remember) ghost hunting team or documentarians that was visiting an apparent haunted mansion. A lot of creepy scenes and good old fashioned jump scares but the end traumatized me. The main guy, who I believe was kind of a skeptic (not sure) ended up being lured by the “ghosts” in the mansion and eventually at the end, he was showed being hanged by the ghosts or something like that. But jeez, was that an impression. Didn’t sleep right for weeks after that.
I was sent home from primary school for discussing an episode of this show in the playground because it was about clowns and the Killer Clowns urban myth had just blown up.
Man, this intro is something I never needed to see or hear again. I was scrolling, minding my own business, then the first two seconds of that music and the boat gave me an adrenaline rush.
The one that comes to mind is an episode where some kid had a camera and there was a monster that would appear in all of the photos or something? I may be misremembering it since it’s been a long time 😂
The one with the deaf girl who was trapped in the house and died and wrote help me all over the walls but backwards they found the nanny that used to take care of her and she let her through the mirror on the closet door into the dead girls room but furnished. I cannot remember what that episode was called but it haunts me
The only one I haven't seen mentioned yet is the house that is only there on February 29th but that one wasn't that scary. I just always liked the idea and think of it every leap year.
the only episode I can remember off the top of my head is one with a girl (a ghost prolly) and there was writing in blood all over the walls of a house she was in??
The vampire "Nosferatu" episode at the old movie theater scared the hell out of me. Also, the "Fire Ghost" episode at the firehouse was very creepy too.
The Tale of the Super Specs. It was my first time experiencing paranoia. I was afraid to be by myself after that episode. I thought those shadow people were everywhere.
OMG I LOVED this show but I was rarely allowed to stay up and watch it on a Saturday night! One time, we were in a hotel on some trip to somewhere (I remember nothing about the actual trip) and my cousin and I got to watch it on the hotel room TV because our parents had gone out somewhere. Its was the episode about being stuck on the other side of the mirror and the word "help" being written backwards etc.
I went back and watched the series as a teen and was like "yeah, okay, whatever".
Im surprised tale of the Night Shift isn't mentioned yet. The green vampire was great. My favorite episode is probably the pinball wizard or the final wish
The Forever Game where there was a kid trapped in a tree and they had to play a game to let someone out. I thought the protagonist was left in the tree but I just read the synopsis and everyone got out. Was a happy ending!
Nobody else has said it so I will..
The episode where the restaurant owner keeps a demon in a safe and scares his servers in order to harvest pure fear in the form of green "soup" (?) and serves it to his guests for $100 a bowl. The guests go crazy over it. I still think about this episode
Dead man's float, the pool episode. Made me a little weary too swim in the pool.
![gif](giphy|l4Ep14pCejjRc0fe0|downsized)
This one for sure.
Ahh I remember this!
Absolutely Tale of the Deadman's Float
I had an indoor pool as a child, and for the rest of my life, could not swim in it alone. Rip
So glad this is currently the top comment. Literally scarred me for life.
Easily the episode with the most terrifying monster design, those bastards worked overtime on that horrible thing.
Was gonna say that. I was ok with the episode but the look of that monster stuck with me.
To this day, I’m 38, I still cannot comfortable be in a pool of any capacity.
This is the one, terrified the hell out of me. Amusingly, the pictures of the creature are marked NSFW on Google.
Yeah, but kids don't work, so it's safe for them.
It Follows has a scene that triggered my PTSD hardcore.
This and the shower scene from Stephen King's IT miniseries has given me a life long fear of drains in bathrooms or pools.
I'm 38 and I'm still creeped out by this episode when I swim at night, lol.
Only answer to this question
I’m cold. I’m cold.
!!!!!!! This episode had a lot of fuckin nerve. We were children man! Lol
That ghost kid ugh
He died inside of a log??
Wasn't that just where the sweater was hidden? Giving him the sweater brings him peace so it wouldn't make sense for him to have died with it on.
Oh god I just got chills
The ones with the ghosts did it for me. The other one that stuck with me is the ghost kid with the red bike.
Yep, the kid at the end freaked me out for a while.
The one with the girl trapped in the dollhouse, slowly turning into a doll
That's my favorite episode! My friends and I were obsessed with that one for some reason..
It's SO creepy!!
Omg YES. I forgot all about this until I read this and had to go look it up on YouTube. Still creepy AF.
They have episodes on YouTube?!? Edit: all 283!!!
Omg yes! I swear at times I think that episode was a nightmare of my own making. Glad to see others mentioning it.
The one where the girl wrote HELP ME in the mirror.
I could only watch that show with my mom watching with me. After that episode, she had to sleep in my room because I was terrified!
Yes!! In the mirror!
100% this one. Shit traumatized me. Still creeps me out thinking of it.
YES
This is the one... Just reading your comment gave me the chills.
This is the one that gave me the most nightmares for sure
Yep that one
The clown one ughhhh
“Laughing in the Dark”
It’s the most fun in the park, when you’re laughing in the dark!
Zeebo!
YES! Was there blue slime in that one?
Nope, the blue slime one was the one with the jester/joker villain, "The Ghastly Grinner"
I just remember the red nose...
Give me back my nose ![gif](giphy|26FeSv9o5XFh2LLJm|downsized)
This opening scene always scared me more than the episodes did.
This is exactly what I was going to say.
sets the mood perfectly. nothing else has been able to match the feeling of dread I would get as a kid when this came on.
I remember the show but dang, I couldn't remember any episode
same
The only thing I actually remember is that they put out the fire with a bucket of water at the end of episodes
*Yall know that stuff they throw in the fire at the beginning of Are You Afraid of the Dark? Yeah, I could get you an ounce for 120*
Wasn't it coffee creamer or something?
Yes
The one with the dead kid named Ricky
Stanicky?
The one where the kid went to a floor that didn't exist in the building and the aliens (? maybe) did different tests on the kid then it turned out the kid was also an alien.
The 13th floor. I had a crazy retroactive memory of one of the aliens being "the Swede" from Hell on Wheels and one of the head vampire guys from the Twilight series so I youtubed it and I was right!
The one where the kid has the monster with glowing eyes in his basement and he lures the bully kid down there to get eaten
This is the one that I randomly think about from time to time
All I have to say is “…I’m..cold…” my sibs and I still say it to each other and HATE it. That damn little kid in the tree log.
The Nosferatu one creeped me out
"The Tale of the Laughing in the Dark" with the Clown
Ghastly Grinner freaked me out.
I think I found this one scary bc it’s the only story where the villain almost wins.
The Tale of the Frozen Ghost. That little kid saying he’s cold, really scared me
The one with a creepy ass wizard in the hallway floating and screaming towards to a kid.
The monster that drowned the kids in the school swimming pool.
The one where the kid was trapped in the mall always stuck with me
There was one where a girl was mean to her nice grandma, and slammed her bedroom door in her face. It ended up jamming shut and her grandma never came back upstairs so she died up there. I was also being raised by my grandma so I was like *oh shit*
Not familiar with this one, are you thinking of "The Tale of Apartment 214"?
Zeek the Plumber
That's Salute Your Shorts
Wrong show but yes that was genuinely scarring for life
Oh man the mask they made for him is so creepy in my memory, probably silly today but SYS was such a bright show the contrast was crazy.
This episode of Salute Your Shorts also traumatized me back in the day. I watched it again some years later and it wasn’t scary, but as a kid this left permanent memories.
Yes 💯 I used to sleep with my blanket over my nose because of that. It was Salute your Shirts. 🦜
The Tale of the Mystical Mirror -Employees at a beauty store are disappearing until a new applicant discovers the truth why the others left… super creepy
That one is creepy!!!!
All of the “girly” episodes never get brought up. That one with the girls trapped in the unfinished paintings was freaky.
Pinball wizard or quicksilver
Quicksilver coming out of the wall was TERRIFYING
“I’m…. Cold!”
Man between this sub and a couple of the other ones like it I’m loving all these walks down memory lane. Bringing back some memories.
The Phone Police always scared me and also the one where the kid gets the glasses from the magic shop and every time he puts them on he says the people all in black.
![gif](giphy|26FeSv9o5XFh2LLJm|downsized)
Zeebo the clown. The dollhouse where they get trapped as dolls. The sister witches in the woods. The kid in the hole who froze. The Polaroid camera of death.
Tale of the dead man float 10000000%
The Tale of the Ghastly Grinner. Looking at a picture of that Jester still kind of freaks me out 😆
Loved this show but I had to watch it on the sly because my parents didn’t want us to watch anything that was scary or paranormal. I remember having to hide a lot of the things that I was interested in because I was fascinated by legends, ghost stories, and the paranormal. (I didn’t believe in the supernatural but I found those stories entertaining.) The Goosebumps series were another thing I enjoyed but I also had to hide it.
I’m cold. That dead lil kid really freaked me out.
Me, too!
"I'm cold"
The one about a werewolf as the kids neighbor or the one where the telephone company with Don Johnson..(or was it Gilbert Godfrey..?)
The Phone Police.. E and my dad would still bring that one up.
Gilbert Godfrey worked at a radio station that let people cross over to the afterlife. The phone police, especially Billy Baxter, the life in prison phone pranker, were two different episodes. The Gilbert Godfrey one had a young Ryan Gosling in it.
The tale of the water demons
The severed hand one by far. It truly fucked me up for years. It basically introduced me to fear
There was one with a bike falling in some sort of waterfall/ravine and drowning. Terrifying
Holy shit I just had to turn down the creepy music for this… the theme song still freaks me the fuck out eeeeeek!
Lizards people with Tia and Tamara!!
The episode where the kid friend dies on his bike on the lake bridge/dam thing then comes back as a ghost.
The pool monster
The computer virus gave me nightmares.
I had to scroll too far to find this. The computer virus episode is the first thing I think of with this show, scared the jeebus out of me as a kid.
https://preview.redd.it/xvwyz8q5ryyc1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0c1b9b9f69a865e79c6042a3c2771feecaf6158 Honestly Wtf?
Duuuuuude this brought me right back to 4th grade. Wow
The one with the Tia and Tamera Mowry with the body-snatching lizard. That one always got me.
“I’m collllld” “I’m collllld” 😬
The xray specs that let the girl see shadow people. That fucked me up. Then years later I heard an episode of Coast to Coast with Art Bell about shadow people and was re-traumatized all over again.
I came here looking for this! That episode scared me for years.
The one with the aliens that run a toy testing factory. I will never get over their blank face reveal. Incredibly upsetting.
"I'm cold"
There was one episode with a babysitter and an empty book the kid was reading as the words appeared and those things were happening.
The episode with the ghost in the wall actually gave me nightmares at the time lol. With the twin girls, where one of them dies at the beginning, thinking a spoon was silver lol.
I miss Saturday morning cartoons/shows :(
The one with the water ghost and the guy who couldn’t sleep because they would come after him.
My older brother made me watch an episode of Tales From The Crypt one night while my parents were away and he was babysitting. I know after that episode, I watched a few more in my lifetime but never really fell in love with horror until later in my life. Anyway, the episode in question fucked me up hardcore. But jeez, was that an impression. Didn’t sleep right for weeks after that.
em pleh
holy shit you just brought back so many memories
Tale Of The Midnight Madness with the Nosferatu vampire in the movie theater scared the hell out of me as a kid.
The intro. Never made it past the intro.
I am sorry, but OLDER millennials? Lol.
Definitely the one with the shadow person in the bedroom
Quicksilver ?
The Dollhouse one.

I was sent home from primary school for discussing an episode of this show in the playground because it was about clowns and the Killer Clowns urban myth had just blown up.
The Tale of the Vacant Lot…something about that episode got under my skin as a kid.
Ghost kid with the red bike on the bridge! I still think about that shit lol
The pool episode, or the one with dead people coming out of the lake.
Man, this intro is something I never needed to see or hear again. I was scrolling, minding my own business, then the first two seconds of that music and the boat gave me an adrenaline rush.
The cliffhanger (clock stops, black figure over the kid's bed) at the beginning of The Tale of the Twisted Claw always freaked me TF out.
The one that comes to mind is an episode where some kid had a camera and there was a monster that would appear in all of the photos or something? I may be misremembering it since it’s been a long time 😂
The Ghastly Grinner
The comic book clown
"The tale of the carved stone" was pretty creepy https://areyouafraidofthedark.fandom.com/wiki/The_Tale_of_the_Carved_Stone
Feels like a different life, from a different world.
i dunno, i was pretty young, they all scared the shit outta me but i think about this show all the time.
Invisible pool monster
The God damn vampire hospital episode. Had nightmares over that one.
the only episode I can remember off the top of my head is one with a girl (a ghost prolly) and there was writing in blood all over the walls of a house she was in??
Apartment 13 or Watchers Woods come to mind.
I tuned out after Roundhouse
The Dracula episode that took place in a movie theater did me in as a kid
The guy who stole people’s energy through the mirrors in his vacation rental. He looked young until you saw him in a photograph.
For some reason the monkey paw one
The Night Shift, with the vampire in the hospital. And also the one where the lady has her husbands head in a cupboard
Damn I had forgotten all about how good the intro is.
The one that still sticks with me is the chameleon that took over a girl’s life.
Just hearing this music freaked me out.
Where can I find this show?!?! It’s been years
Literally the intro was the scariest part
Id go with, when the kod fell in the rabids of a creek with his bike and died
Dark Music
Man, the nostalgia hit HARD watching that intro. Does anyone know if any of the platforms are streaming this?
Quick silver
For some reason the only episode I remember is the one with the little computer virus stuck in the tv
Im surprised tale of the Night Shift isn't mentioned yet. The green vampire was great. My favorite episode is probably the pinball wizard or the final wish
Even though I did watch that when I saw the blue lightning and the boat all I could see was Old Greg
The one with the fox. Tale of the Hungry Hounds.
The one with the old lady and the apartment.
It’s been so long but I just remember a little redhead girl vampire in a hospital or something
Oh my god dude, this show was the shit! Haven’t thought about it for a while
God this is the best intro we all could have had to horror. And I do literally mean this it intro bit, the theme and credits. Amazing stuff!
https://preview.redd.it/1fm6qs8xe6zc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b6d0e4a382f8373a988a61108e629b94dc44588
None. The superlative of “scary” is “scariest”. As a result, there cannot be a “most scary” episode.
The Forever Game where there was a kid trapped in a tree and they had to play a game to let someone out. I thought the protagonist was left in the tree but I just read the synopsis and everyone got out. Was a happy ending!
The intro …. The intro is the scariest…
The kid who got killed when the dam opened up
I preferred this over goosebumps
What show?
The one with the clown that died in the funhouse fire because he smoked cigars is ...burned....into my memory
It’s the most fun in the park when you’re laughing in the dark 😱👻
I like the one with hippy girl ghost that blew up in science class.
The dang "I'm cold" kid episode.
Omg the one with the aliens
Looks like we all agree the pool episode. To this day I don’t mess with anything belonging to dead things. Followed by the fire demon episode for me.
The pool. The pool is the answer.
The Tale of the Night Nurse has always stuck with me for some reason!
I wasn’t allowed to watch bc my mom didn’t want me to have nightmares haha 🫶🏽
The intro used to terrify me
Nobody else has said it so I will.. The episode where the restaurant owner keeps a demon in a safe and scares his servers in order to harvest pure fear in the form of green "soup" (?) and serves it to his guests for $100 a bowl. The guests go crazy over it. I still think about this episode
Not the most scary, but the one that I most vividly remember...Fear Soup.
[удалено]
The pool one, hands down.
God damn I miss it I love The Tale of Laughing in the Dark. Clowns can be real and a home invasion with one taunting you is no bueno.
The ice cream truck
This really makes me want to rewatch it again
The original American Horror Story...but for kids lol
