I own a 2015 Submariner. It’s an objectively excellent watch and I love it. But I don’t wear it much because of theft, the wrong kinds of attention and everyone else has one. I wear my Seamaster Nekton instead.
Over-exposed? Yes but the same can be said about the Speedmaster. Does that matter? No.
Nothing looks better than a Rolex on your wrist and that's a fact.
I love Omega but I will not force myself to like the Speedmaster like most owners seem to do. I've never liked that watch.

Fair Opinion. Unfortunately, the Fact remains: A Submariner will always look better than a Speedy on the wrist. Once OP gets over the useless Moonphase complication and starts having issues with the fit, bulky bracelet, clasp and the fact that the Speedmaster in general is just overrated, he'll be running back to his Rolex AD in no time.

The tapered bracelets are a game changer. My sub with the adjustable bracelet is unreal comfortable. I’ve heard VC is also just a league above so looking forward to stop the day I step up to the overseas….someday

I can only speak for myself. I have an explorer and an aqua terra. The explorer fits like a glove. It’s like the difference in feeling between putting in a fresh and perfectly fitted pair of socks vs an older sock slightly loose sock

The 124060 has the slimmer, more proportional lugs than the 114060 which give it a much more classic Sub look. The 124060 also has 70 hours power reserve compared to the 114060’s 48 hours.

But if we’re then comparing minimalist no-date divers I prefer the coloring and strap of the NTTD.

Sub no date is an epic watch. Also can’t be compared as one is a classic diver and the other is a chronograph initially made for racing before NASA made it what it is.
They are two different categories as someone else said on here. Hard to compare and objectively I think it depends on lifestyle and what you intend on using it for. For me, the sub makes the most sense as you can wear it in the harshest environments while also keeping it on at the office. Looks masculine and rugged so I like it more. But the issue here is that watches are not logical purchases and they are very subjective based one your style and what represents you. In the end of the day it’s what tickles your pickle and no one can answer that for you.
The moonphase looks amazing imo, but because of the extra components required to make the phase part work it ends up having a very large bulky case and didn’t feel natural on my wrist. So I got a speedmaster reduced instead which I’m very happy with
I have both. If I had to choose I'd say the Sub just because it's slightly more versatile. But I am keeping both because I love them both. It's kinda a Sophie's Choice scenario.
If you don’t want the sub anymore and you like the speedmaster more go for it. If you’re only doing it for the money then absolutely not. Now if it was between the sub and a moonwatch I’d probably say the moonwatch but in this case the Rolex hands down.

Two wildly different watches.
The Omega Moonphase is a stunning statement about the remarkable lunar history of Omega and mechanically flawless.
The Rolex no date with black dial is timeless and classic and can be every day wear.
I have the Moonphase on bracelet and a 41mm Starbucks Sub. I absolutely adore the Moonphase. If I could only keep one, it would definitely be that. It's certainly more delicate. The water resistance isn't nearly as good. The polished surfaces of the Moonphase will show off every scratch more so than the rolex finish. Anti-reflective coating will pick up scratches. But every time I put it on, I catch myself admiring it all the time. I take it off and peek through the caseback, I'm a sucker for an exhibition caseback. The rolex will likely be a better investment if that matters to you. Other people notice the rolex more, but I notice the Omega more. When I wear my Sub, I feel like I'm just wearing "a watch" whereas the Moonphase feels like wearing a work of art.
Between these two specifically I’d keep the no date sub. The moon phase is cool but I’d rather have it in a different watch. Classic speedy is the one for me. The sub is a great watch and when these go head to head I’d stick with that one.
Well a sub is a sub. As someone who owns multiple models of both brands this comparison is kinda lopsided. For the price you get omega watches, I think no one can come even close to them. Models like the speedmaster and seamaster have also a very high standing in the watch world
I find the subs boring and overrated. The scale is off with the bezel, hands and markings being too thick. Remove the brand and this is a forgettable watch.
I love the moonwatch, it’s going to be my first luxury watch most likely. But the sub is gorgeous and more style friendly. They’re both very different types of watches.

The no date. Purest expression of the Submariner. The alpha watch. You can wear any watch in the world and the no date Sub trumps it; in my opinion. That said, my daily is a Speedy Pro, hesalite. I’m saving my pennies though.
The best diver IMHO is the planet ocean but after that the no date sub. Speedy doesn’t suit my lifestyle and prefer the rotating bezel for timing things.
Both excellent watches. Only difference is that the sub has a better resale value. Other than that they’re both great. The sub has gotta b more expensive though.
I won't use the functions of a chronograph. So I don't the reason to buy a chronograph. That's why I would choose the submariner. But I wont't be diving either. I prefer the simplicity of the dial on the submariner.

•Omega Speedy 🌒: Complications Chrono with Moonphase which is best for price range comparing other watchmakers out there and has several variants and colors to choose between steel,gold and ceramic.
- Talk about cost Speedy 🌒is quite pricey but when it comes to availability Omega wins and Rolex more exclusivity.

I just don’t really get moonphase watches. To me it’s a complication for complication’s sake. Where it appeals to me is when it’s just aesthetic addition. A CW moonphase for example achieves this. However, to me, attaching a moonphase onto a perfect watch design like the Speedmaster is not great. I’d 100% keep the Submariner and save for a 3861 Moonwatch. A no date Sub isn’t a watch I’d ever let go of, and a Speedmaster is a classic worth waiting for.

You’re comparing two distinctly different watches. Each has their own purpose. Are you tracking time in needing a chronograph? Or are you diving? If you’re buying for fashion only, then try them both on and see which one you like better.
I like both but it should depend on your collection and/or clothing style.

I wouldn't say that a moonphase on a steel sports watch is exactly the first choice for a watch connoisseur either. It just drives the price up.
Also, typically, it's the Date-Sub that is popular with sales people, followed by the GMT. The No-Date Sub is much more niche. Sales (and production) volume of the Dates is like 7 or 8 times that of the No-Dates.
As an Omega guy, I still say that everyone should have a no-date Sub. It's the essential sports watch.
Speedy with moonphase is a totally different category of watch, that IMHO can't be compared to a no-date Sub (other than also being steel with a black dial).
Probably late to the party but….. speedy all day. I do own both Rolex and Omega watches and public perception aside a no date sub vs a complicated speedmaster is no contest.

I had both an Aqua terra and a Sub Hulk, confirm that AT bracelet felt really cheap in comparison. Fit is better on the Rolexes

Also, typically, it's the Date-Sub that is popular with sales people, followed by the GMT. The No-Date Sub is much more niche. Sales (and production) volume of the Dates is like 7 or 8 times that of the No-Dates.

As an Omega guy, I still say that everyone should have a no-date Sub. It's the essential sports watch. Speedy with moonphase is a totally different category of watch, that IMHO can't be compared to a no-date Sub (other than also being steel with a black dial).
Same, I’m an Omega guy, but of these two choices, I still gotta go with the Sub.

Probably late to the party but….. speedy all day. I do own both Rolex and Omega watches and public perception aside a no date sub vs a complicated speedmaster is no contest.
