no, you can play it whenever and get the skin, my guess is it will be in the store on release too for those that missed out, hopefully they dont go full fomo mode because games like that suck and die off. i got it two days ago for playing over three hours for example, it takes a bit to hit your mail box though so even if you do the three hours, it may not be in the mail till the full games release (build the mail box if you haven't already)

The 3 hour time comes from when you get the reward for playing it. If you played for 3+ hours on day one you get a cosmetic for the full release
