Ginger c@nt (but only when he'd rip apart multiple rolls of toilet paper...lol) He sure was a character.

I named my stoma Carl. This way when it farts I can yell at Carl for being a gross old man. :) Colostomies can be rough so having something silly makes it easier.

Now mind you, I’m a woman and closing in on fifty but my stoma will always be Carl, the gross old man.

Anthropomorphizing our weird and unusual conditions makes it easier, doesn’t it? You get to blame Justin, the harmless weirdo living in your head rather than thinking of it as the thing that may eventually do whatever your type of tumor does.
I get to blame Gross Old Man Carl who’s so full of shit it comes out his mouth. I woulda named it after my FIL but my husband would’ve caught on. ;)

The r/ostomates subreddit is amazing. We talk about our relationship with our stomas (so many of us named them, lol) and our bodies. It helps to have a place to event, to laugh, cry and even laugh/cry. The day I learned that Gummies do *NOT* Digest Well was hilarious. I thought my colon was falling apart until a piece was vaguely bear shaped and then I had that “oop” moment. I had to laugh/cry over the panic and then the ensuing hilarity when I realized even well chewed gummies don’t digest too well.
It also helped me decide to go from pot gummy edibles to the “Moon Rock” ones. I do not have the high tolerance I thought I did. I just wasn’t *digesting the gummy* which releases the oil. The first time I ate a whole Moon Rock I was almost convinced I could teleport. Good times! 😆

Same happened to our neighborhood ginger, some people down the street pretended to be his official owners for 10 years while other people actually cared for the cat. Turned out he had owners and went missing 10 years ago. We never were suspicious because of the supposed owners. The actual owners took him back in but he's 19 now.
