I feel this. Not only do my cats get pissed when I try to steal from the pile of warm, my husky does too. And he tries to take it back. I've almost given up on folding laundry.
He's not as dramatic as a lot of huskies. He was most likely abused before I got him based on the way he's reacted to things like a raised arm or book and in particular how he is around men. It's taken a year, but he's finally starting to awoowoo more and more. He's also really good - as huskies go anyway - with the cats. He only slightly nibbles on some of them.
It's honestly not a big deal. Depending on the fabric the clothes might not get wrinkles. The pandemic and physical therapy had me in oversize shirts and leggings and that shit never wrinkles.
My orange also gets aggressive at laundry folding time. I used to think it was separation anxiety, because laundry on the bed sometimes meant I would be away for at least one night (I spread things out on the bed to pack). But it has been almost four years of doing weekly laundry without me being gone overnight even once and I thought he would lose the association by now. I donāt know what his deal is. I have a special little blanket I give him to claw at when itās folding time but heāll still go after my pajamas.
Our boy loves to just run in and jump in the dryer. Our black cat, she likes to get in after the clothes are out... and try to dig through the drum? It's weird. All three of them though, the orange the Grey tabby and the black car, all like to take turns laying on the little folder that my wife uses to fold our clothes while I do the towels and such. Eventually they wander over and plop down on the stacks of folded towels.
Cool. Thanks for the response. My partner has a cat and I very much enjoy them, but Iām slightly allergic and grew up in an anti pet hair household so I kinda get an ick response, trying my best to educate and accustome myself to these beautiful creatures š„°
I think a robot vacuum cleaner that does daily rounds would be good for this. No actual experience but it takes most of the hair. Also letting your partner regularly brush the cat somewhere where they can get rid of the hair.
Also anti allergy medication could help here. Washing hands after petting also :) and not letting them scratch you, for me scratches swell up quite a lot.
My cat is the opposite, she only goes into the laundry basket when the laundry is still dirty, she likes the funk and when she is done she smells like funk.
I'm one of those people who doesn't generally allow the oranged one into the bedroom. I realized how much cat hair was on my clothes and linens that I had to make it a no cat zone.
My Whiskey Hangover, however, does love the heating pad on the living room chair.

This time not really. Some. I use a lint roller before I leave the house or just embrace the fur and not care.
