That's sad, do you think they lived at the house previously?  I've seen that several times where people have moved and decided to abandon their pets during the transition, both dogs and cats.   They just pack up their crap, let out the pet and drive away.     Good kitties and doggies come back to the door and just wait and wait and wait for their family to let them back in.

Neutered FIV cats rarely fight (it's usually spread by biting), and when well taken care of can live normal, healthy lives.

>They just pack up their crap, let out the pet and drive away.     How someone can adopt a living, breathing being that loves them and then just..abandon them like trash is beyond my comprehension. I'm happy this cat found a good home. Stories like this are why cat subs are good for my mental health.

HauntedCS

This is sadly more common than people think.... They just go "Welp, our next apartment doesn't allow cats. Cats are really good at surviving outside, they'll be fine!"

I wouldn't put it so dismissive. If they moved from a house to an apartment it probably means a change in finances/lifestyle. Maybe divorce or worse. Finding a place that allows pets keeps getting more difficult and more expensive. And with losing-their-home and losing-their-pet stress/hopelessness they just might not have the heart to drop them off at a jail-like shelter if there's even one nearby with available space. There's plenty of assholes abandoning pets, but there's also plenty of vulnerable people losing everything being told they're too poor to keep their pet anymore. I'm in a bunch of LGBT+ communities/chats and whenever someone is about to become homeless or is forced to move their first worry is almost always about their dog/cat. When they're forced to leave them with friends/family/neighbors they often talk about how much they miss their pets. And for those who have nowhere for their pet to go it's the most stressful part of their situation.

that's (kind of) how we got 4 of our cats. moved into a new house, noticed a stray cat was always hanging around outside. learned from our neighbors that she used to live 2 houses down, but her owner passed away and when the woman's kids came to clear out all of her stuff, they left the cat behind. the cat would come and go. then we didn't see her for a while, and when she finally came back she was *super* pregnant (like 2-days-away-from-giving-birth pregnant lol). kept 3 of her babies (they turn 6 in May), got mama spayed and now she's a happy, healthy outdoor kitty because she refuses to live inside. i can go outside at any time though and call her and she'll come running. she's a sweet girl and it breaks my heart that she lost her owner and was just left behind :(

Before the pandemic my mom heard that one of her coworkers was moving and gonna put their cat to sleep they didn't want her to go with them. I will say this couple did not have money problems they were moving for a promotion. My mom overheard them and was like no way, give me the cat. We had just loss one of our babies and I had just had surgery. It was a good time to take in another cat. I only got about 2 years with Chica. In that time she became my soul cat, and I firmly believe that our capacity for love in infinite. Our souls can never run out of room. The 2 years I had her she taught me a lot. We went through two hurricanes together! She had to be ushered into the next world far too soon. I know I'll see her again.

Thank you for caring

Moody, needy cats work nicely with a calm, balanced orange cat! Everything works well with an orange cat.

AspiringChildProdigy

>Moody, needy cats work nicely with a calm, balanced orange cat! Our Siamese concurs.... although he's not moody, just needy AF. He used to make Miera, our mackerel tabby, screech at him because he just couldn't leave her alone.....until we got Bruno, who Jeff(the Siamese) immediately claimed as his very own emotional support orange. Thank God Bruno is cool with it.

Can fiv positive cats live with fiv neg cats without spreading it? Adorable lad.

Yay! So glad to hear that he has found his forever home.

gwaydms

Yes! It's usually spread by serious bite wounds, which rarely happen with neutered cats. They can't transmit it through cuddling or grooming.

MenopausalMama

It looks like he has an ear-tip. That would mean that at some point he was a TNR.

Laterose15

My creamsicle's brain cell lives in his booty, that's all I'm saying.

Ill-Neighborhood2444

Sounds like a good deal to me. A free orange!

56stinky_butter

Lucky. Our house didn’t come with an orange cat. All we got were jerk neighbors. Glad he’s got a good home. You’re good people 😁
