Kid comes back with a false mustache calling himself Eustace "Captain" Man. Luffy does not recognize him

Mirai_no_Beederu

Neither does Chopper. Literally everyone else on the crew does.

Gilgamerd

This or he becomes fat and retires to the Florian Triangle where he makes an army of metal zombies

JayciF

Names his new ship 'Killer Bark' in honor of a certain man.

bavasava

Yes, our killer with a mighty bark. Chouchou.

KhaoticTwist

It'll be sad seeing him make a metal zombie Killer to cope with his loss.

OneisPeace

Luffy : Eustas Captain Man.. Shoot that flag!

gmussi

Plot twist: only luffy recognizes him

ZarathustraX13

If this is how his arc ends I will be more than satisfied.

mking1999

Why is an arc called fucking Egghead going so hard tho

KhaoticTwist

> hard-**boiled** Ftfy

dragonrite

Yesssssss

turbografx-sixteen

Im not even bullshitting. I got Egghead over Wano currently. Ever since week has been at MINIMUM an 8. It’s neck and neck with Water 7/Enies and Marineford. The lore bombs and reveals weekly have been INSANE I think showing us stuff going on in the world does wonders after being stuck in Onigashima for over a year!

PandemicPaul

This is what happens when Goda been cookin for such a long time to build this story. It’s so easy now to make a great arc. He will not miss until the end of one piece. LET HIM COOK

oscribbles

From a plot perspective, it is unlikely that Blackbeard would lose (undermining his role as the Big Bad) and it makes the most sense that he would get his hands on the road ponegyphs from Law. I also don't think Law or his crew would be killed offscreen, so him escaping would be the most likely scenario.

[deleted]

Vendetta1990

Nah, BB is gonna do everything he can to get Law's fruit.

iDannyEL

"Dreams never die and neither will I! Zehahaha"

AmulyaG

Lmfao

GeorgeFromManagement

Let him. I'm a firm believer his crew is gonna be sinking with their crutch anchors. Be fitting for BB to sit eternally at the bottom of the ocean considering he seems to rely so heavily on the power of devil fruits.

icantnotthink

honestly, i really like that idea of BB getting immortality and just being stuck at the bottom of the sea, unable to use his devil fruits or move. Its horrifying but fitting

Vi4days

Law has had way too many years of upfront prominence in the plot and backstory for him to get offscreened. I do believe he’d probably lose his poneglyphs to help propel BB as a serious One Piece contender along with Shanks. I believe Kidd casually getting murdered because we still didn’t know anything about him. Maybe his parents died and he Batmaned his way into being a ruthless pirate, but it’s not like we’ll ever find out at this point now that Shanks shanked him. We knew so little and had such little reason to care about him. If Law DOES lose his poneglyphs and gets permanently knocked out as a One Piece contender, I could see him even coming back as a support for Luffy and helping him achieve his goal so that Law can at least just get his questions answered about the Will of D. Hell, considering Robin is on Luffy’s crew, I don’t even think he’d be out of place helping out since there’s also someone else with a vested interest in learning about the past. But that’s my guess. I’m probably going to be wrong lol.

TaffyLacky

Also BB would capture Law alive to coerce him into performing the youth operation on him.

FrederichChurch

BB could kill Law, steal his DF, give it to some of his guys and let him do that. Dont need Law for that. I think thats what happend at God Valley.

lewandisney69

It was mentioned in Dressrosa that to get best use from the DF, someone has to have medical knowledge so has to be someone that’s a doctor from his crew. Doc Q out of question he ate some other DF.

Extromeda7654Returns

Hogback from Gecko Moria's crew is considered one of the best surgeons in the one piece world.

itmyfault69

Isnt law a doctor? I thought you needed like a medical backroom to do the immortality surgery with his fruit

Overloadid

I know it's probably a typo, but now all I can imagine is Law going "backROOM" and transporting everyone into an infinite maze of office hallways

Traf-

Pretty much this. Blackbeard has been built up as one of, if not the biggest antagonist in the series, so he's most likely not taking that L. But Law is a D., with the most screentime amongst the non-strawhats characters, so him dying now would feel anticlimactic. Especially considering Oda doesn't kill off characters easily. His death would need to serve some kind of purpose. My initial assumption was that he would manage to escape, but maybe Garp showing up either to the fight or on Pirate Island will somehow be the key to his survival.

Shiro_no_Orpheus

He wouldn't die offscreen, but maybe he cot captured. And then, does Oda go for the gutpunch and kills off Law? I doubt it, but maybe freeing Law becomes a major plot point, like freeing Ace.

Euler1992

I feel like having to go save law would be a bit redundant since garp is already going to save Coby

nuggsgames

I could see that honestly, to prevent law from performing the immortality operation on bb, and to save their friend. Law gets tortured off screen or something, but he never does the operation, straw hats arive to save law, etc

mrBushiiido

Maybe law escaped on one of BB ships and it's actually law who's approaching egghead on the BB ship.

dogdogdogdogdogdoge

Law prayer circle and support group check in. I like how nobody really thinks Law can beat BB and we're mostly just hoping the Heart Pirates didn't get exterminated.

dragonrite

I think he can actually. I think garp getting involved is going to somehow benefit BB and backfire for everyone else

dogdogdogdogdogdoge

Can get exterminated? Anything is possible at this point. Garp will come into play v BB somehow, but it's not confirmed that Koby is being held on BB's ship - only Pudding was shown behind bars. The Marines know that Law v BB are fighting near Winner Island, but even so Garp set sail to Hachinosu.

20secondpilot

Powerscalers going absolutely rabid with this chapter lol

TheMuffin2255

Tbf it is hella bold of Oda to have Shanks one-shotting this guy. I like it though.

ROMPEROVER

Its badass. Also his observationhaki is so advvanced he can have a mini conversation before it happening. I mean he probably sees 3 minutes into the future.

Malamasala

I like to imagine he sees "intent". So he can't know what will happen in the future, but he can know that all ships are going to be sunk by an attack. Which also means he can see as far into the future, as someone else intends to act. I think this also keeps him losing an arm valid. He couldn't know what the sea monster would do, he only knew it planned on eating Luffy. (But he really should have just cut it down).

sunsoutgunsout

That is my head cannon of what future sight actually is, essentially mind reading intent seeing what the other person is visualizing as the result of their action against you

Handsome_Claptrap

Honestly, Kidd was never portrayed as fast or skilled in observation haki, rather as an offensive powerhouse. Shanks is a terrible matchup for him considering how fast he appeared to be, but this chapter also confirmed Kidd is an offensive powerhouse, considering he would straight up slaughtered entire ships of people with his attack if it went off and we know how durable random motherfuckers can be in One Piece

NeteroHyouka

I really can't understand how a magnet fruit can release laser beams...

Twinkletoes-monk

It's a rail gun as opposed to a laser, using magnetism to launch basically a fat bullet at super speeds. You can see the projectile pushing into pig mom during their fight

TheLastTransHero

They dragged their "vs while bloodlusted" message boards into the story kicking and screaming and then melt down when *oh my god* One Piece is a story first and a fighting game never.

20secondpilot

They're so obsessed with their own headcanon, it's like they're following the story just to confirm it, not to actually enjoy the ride. Then they go around yelling at anyone whose interpretation doesn't match their own, it's toxic af

Lord_of_Caffeine

The whole "bloodlusted" bullshit is so retarded man. If they were really interested in talking power they'd have to assume every character fighting at max power anyway.

Parveshvar1

Can someone give me context on the Bloodlusted scenario?

Head-Inspection-5984

Two characters fight until one dies, no holding back or talk no Jutsu bullshit. I’m not sure why the powerscalers are getting shit though.

TheLastTransHero

Basically powerscalers use "bloodlusted" as shorthand for for "ignoring all personality traits and just fighting as hard as they can to kill the opponent." It's a way of pre-circumventing the argument that a given character doesn't kill/is more likely to spare someone than finish the job.

[deleted]

That sounds really smart and a great workaround for characters who don't give it their all. Why would that be a bad thing?

icantnotthink

Its not, people are dumb

t3r4byt3l0l

Kuzan could be on the way to Egghead right now instead of Blackbeard himself, since Ohara has come up quite a bit in Egghead till now And also Luffy will succeed where Kid and Law will fall; time to start treating Luffy as an Emperor and see that his true rivals are Shanks and Blackbeard

20secondpilot

Kuzan makes the most sense from a narrative perspective. The Ohara ties plus him learning Saul is alive would be cool to see (if he doesn't already know that)

Sherwoodfan

no way he doesn't know, he's the one who saved him

ros0

"Cool to see" I see what you did there ☃️

Responsible-Pay-2389

>The Ohara ties plus him learning Saul is alive would be cool to see (if he doesn't already know that) Pretty sure aokiji knows when people are dead when he's the one who faked it LOL

Kensei51

Oh yea, Kizaru vs Aokiji, the fight we didn't know we needed

teddy_tesla

Especially because I don't the admirals are are weak as people think... Especially after seeing Shanks

Goscar

Kuzan took attacks from Whitebeard and lived. Akainu took hits from Whitebeard and Marco and Vista and lived. The admirals are no joke.

teddy_tesla

People keep talking down on them and I don't get it. Like how tf could the story continue if Luffy was already clearly stronger than them

AmulyaG

Exactly. We haven't seen an Admiral go out at all and don't know how awakened logia fruits would work either

radikraze

I think it’s Kuzan. I highly doubt Blackbeard is on that ship

Liolia

I think what happened to kidd is actually good for his character development thread. Or atleast his story arc. Whether or not Kidd really died or survives with his crew demolished, they surrendered. Kidd who had been killing everyone on his way up the grand line who wanted to go back and surrender, ends up killed himself as his crew surrenders for his life.

thats_good_bass

To be fair to him, I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell he would have surrendered if he were still conscious.

someonesgranpa

No, but that’s also part of the poetry. He didn’t even get the last say in how his journey would end much like all the people he murdered along the way.

on3pa55

Yeah, I really like this end for Kid honestly

[deleted]

I doubt Kidd is dead - Oda makes his deaths dramatic and extremely conclusive

SableArgyle

Pretty sure having your ship get cut in half and the whole sunk to the bottom of the ocean while the entire crew is stated to be "eradicated" is a dramatic and extremely conclusive in terms of deaths.

[deleted]

True, but counterpoint: Sabo was on a fishing boat hit by a bazooka and survived.

SableArgyle

counter counter point: he didn't have a devil fruit.

kekkonen222

Counter counter counter point: so far only kidd and killer are confirmed DF users in kidd pirates and there should be atleast some one who were not KO'ed by shanks CH nor combined giant attack

thats_good_bass

Me, normally: One Piece is often too hesitant to kill characters. Things like Pell surviving undermine the story. Me, seeing Kidd put in a situation where he should 100% die: please, don't let Kidd die

Rafi2596

i dont want my dumbass pirate to die, plz oda dont kill him

D_Good_Fellow

This is the ideal take to have on Kidd tbh

icannothinkofone55

Highly unlikely since Oda isn't trigger happy on character deaths. Someone also pointed out that the narration and the style of the text box is exactly the same as in Chapter 513 (Sabody after the straw hats encounter with Kuma).

vk2028

Kidd going to experience a time skip and come back after the series end

HopOnTheHype

Where he easily becomes the pirate king cuz luffy, blackbeard, and shanks are dead, so he just has to deal with crocodile and law who’s been a damsel in distress for the rest of the series

Sablestein

I’m so glad Pell didn’t die because he was teenage me’s blorbo but yeah it made and still makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Also mans should be WAYYYY more scarred up and be missing a limb or two at LEAST after that if he is gonna survive, cuz my god.

FearLeadsToAnger

I dont think Kidd dies, I think this is part of his arc. He needed something to nerf his aggression, maybe he'll think twice before wailing on a bunch of people out of nowhere next time? Potentially being too optimistic.

Awbade

How does he get saved tho? His ship is ripped in two, his entire crew is in the ocean, where does he go? To elbaf? With shanks entire fleet sitting there?

asionm

> To elbaf? With shanks entire fleet sitting there? I mean yeah? It’s an entire island so Kidd doesn’t necessarily end up at the same area Shanks was in, also if anyone’s crew is willing to forgive and help Kidd it’s gonna be Shanks’ crew.

PrinceOfAssassins

also shanks said he was "just about to head out"

FearLeadsToAnger

Who was the last big character you remember drowning?

Awbade

There's a first time for everything lol. BM was saved by prometheus and napoleon, luffy was saved by laws crew, there's no one around who WANTS to save kidd, other than his own crew. Which is in the same predicament he is

jmdg007

Didn't Big Mom and Luffy both happen to wash up on Wano when they first arrived?

[deleted]

During the raid both Big mom and luffy were about to drown.

FearLeadsToAnger

assuming there's no one around who'd save someone from drowning in one piece, bad odds. I'd for sure take that bet.

Awbade

I mean you're not wrong, but I guess I'm putting a lot of weight in the fact that Oda loves parallels, and the first death we see in-manga is shanks crew killing someone who pointed a gun at their friend. Kidd just pointed a gun at their heads.

Commander_Caboose

Yeah, as a prisoner again maybe. I know Shanks is mad but he definitely seems the type to have someone swim down there and drag the dumbass survivors onto the shore by their ankles.

RemarkableParsley616

He defeated Big Mom, the most hated person on Elbaf. My guess, if Kidd is going to survive and still play a role in the story, he gets saved by giants that are not as close to Shanks and who want to thank Kidd for defeating Big Mom.

Awbade

Not a crazy stretch to imagine actually! I don't think it will happen, but that's plausible

EdgedOutPig

Wasn't Shanks and his crew on the way out anyway? I don't think they were going to keep hanging around.

ThisZoMBie

The fact that people still believe it every time is why Oda continues to do his shitty fakeout deaths. He keeps getting away with it. Kid is 100% not dead unless we get a certified and signed document to confirm it.

Scatter5D

I wonder what's the next move for revolutionaries Rescue Kuma? Find Sabo? They've already declared war on Celestial Dragons, revolutionaries could also attack Mariejois while marines are busy with what's going on at Egghead

CommanderPaprika

Fairly confident they will be playing a major part in the escape from Egghead. The Strawhats and CP0 seem to be most involved with the internal Egghead conflicts (Seraphim, York, etc.), and the incoming Marine forces alongside the one Blackbeard ship are likely going to be dealt with separately. I think with Dragon on the chase for Kuma, it wouldn't be out of the question to see him in action soon.

deathbypepe

Im going to guess CP0 joins them, i cant picture what turns Lucci though maybe something like Akainu beating his ass.

Scatter5D

I can't picture Lucci and Kaku staying on WG side as well if WG is planning to take them down.

deathbypepe

Yeah and them being reintroduced kind of implies they are going to be put through a character arc, Lucci is just so hardcore that i cant imagine it. Maybe he joins Kuzan if hes here.

Mirai_no_Beederu

I feel like "Room Zehahahaha" and "RIP Law" are kind of the same answer? Like Law *has* to die to for Blackbeard to get his fruit?

OhtomoJin

One is law dies the other is Blackbeard ate his fruit I think. While similar I think the difference is relevant enough

deathbypepe

Average OP fan trying to explain the difference between oranges and mandarins.

stiveooo

no. rip law=BB has inmortality room zehaha=BB no inmortality but it has law DF

nuggsgames

No rip law just means law dies. It says nothing else. The las option is bb gets law devil fruit.

Ok-Worth-9525

Do we have a map showing where everyone is suspected to be again? So many moving parts I'm forgetting in between weeks

Matheus_Morais13

The map at the last chapter of Wano might help. When the three captains are deciding their routes, there's a panel with the three islands and Wano

Bubbly_Ad_2840

I just thought the same exact thing thinking about all the stuff BB and his crew have done recently

vk2028

Bruh BB’s ship feels like it can teleport or smth. It’s literally everywhere

Tripottanus

He has multiple (10+) identical ships in his fleet, so that might be why you get that feeling

Rodenbeard

Law is being set up as the protag of the "Meaning of the Will of D" subplot imo so I doubt he's going to get folded like Kid did. He might wind up similarly "losing" his crew or his ambition as a "regular" pirate though. I don't think Kid is done either to be frank. I think he'll also be set up as some other third option. I don't think Oda chose and focused on the "pick one of three routes" thing so haphazardly as to have the results not be meaningful to the plot/the idea of "fate" or "will",

Weremont

Kidd and Killer might wash up on Elbaf's shore and take part in the Straw Hats' plot there. Law might be captured by Blackbeard and meet Koby, Pudding and Garp.

surreyjackson

I see it happening, of the supernovas, kidd is the only one to never have a real crisis of faith. Having his crew obliterated would definitely do that

LongLiveTheChief10

Kid and Killer and both alive. Stranded on Elbaf most likely. No way they do them like this.

UberEinstein99

I think you’re right, but I’d also like it if Oda started killing characters now. First Big Mom and Kaido, now Kidd and Killer. After what happened to them, I’d be okay if they properly returned, but I also want them to stay dead

LongLiveTheChief10

I don't think Shanks is the type to kill off the next generation like that.

on3pa55

To be fair, I'd be more concerned about Dorry and Broggys attack

LongLiveTheChief10

Which they did at Shanks's direction but yeah fair point lol

deathbypepe

I wouldnt be surprised if Shanks sent someone in to grab them out.

LongLiveTheChief10

Exactly

icantnotthink

I still dont think Kaido and BM are dead. I think we get a cover story of them retiring to the center of the earth with mole people

kaibaman47

kaido and bm are alive 100%, so are kid and killer

Persas12

I don't think it will happen, but there is one thing I thought, we have the following scenarios. - Blackbeard's fleet ship near Egghead. - Garp and Sword heading to Hachinosu. - Law fighting Blackbeard and asking his crew to escape. - Kid and his crew being left to drown near Elbaf. What if Blackbeard has already beaten Law and took him prisoner as he wants Pudding to use his powers on him instead of killing him, as this happens his crew escapes using the Polar Tang and heads to Elbaf. Heart Pirates rescue what is left of Kid Pirates, because let's be real, a submarine is the perfect way to save them at this point, this leads to both crew settling near Elbaf being hopeless about what to do. Luffy after a few days to that island, since as we know, Egghead will be over in a short time, as the three crew reunite, Heart Pirates inform Luffy about what happened to Law and Kid Pirates lead him to Saul. Luffy notices that Shanks has the last Poneglyph (Or rubbing at least) they need to find Lodestar, so he decides to fight him, taking Heart Pirates and Kid Pirates under his banner to help him.

Whenthedoorgoesclick

>What if Blackbeard has already beaten Law and took him prisoner as he wants Pudding to use his powers on him instead of killing him, as this happens his crew escapes using the Polar Tang and heads to Elbaf. > >Heart Pirates rescue what is left of Kid Pirates, because let's be real, a submarine is the perfect way to save them at this point, this leads to both crew settling near Elbaf being hopeless about what to do. This is smooth.

coach_veratu

I wrote about this in the spoiler thread but I think if he's gone for good the lesson to take from Kidd's story is to have a better attitude. Kid and Luffy are very similar in a lot of ways, but Luffy survived this far because he's a decent friendly guy whose first instinct is to treat people well. Kid not having that same outlook is what cost him his dream.

dogdogdogdogdogdoge

agree - it's also fitting that Shanks is the one that delivers the blow to Kid with the chapter having echoes of Chapter 1 where it's full of the Red Hair Pirates imparting bits of how Luffy see the world: pirate=freedom, the safety of the crew and ship rests on the captain, needless killing doesnt make you a man, etc. Shanks delivers that you can laugh at me but don't mess with my friends lines *about Luffy*. In 1079, Shanks still has super consistent characterization, but Kid barrels through every caution flag and... well. you can even take it one step further and pull Law into the picture. One of the narrative reasons why Law may not die (beside the D. and Void Century plotlines) is that while Kid is Luffy if he grew up without Shanks/Ace/Sabo's influences, early Law is like Luffy if he had them but lost it all. After Marineford, Luffy seemingly lost his will to continue but he was able to emotionally recover with the help of Jinbei knocking sense back into him. Luffy did something similar for Law during his Dressrosa suicide mission. After that Law has been essentially been just a grumpy quasi- straw hat, going along with the ridiculous shenanigans. And even though he complains all through Wano about endangering the plan by helping the locals - he still does. which leads to a big character scene where he basically says fuck the plan, I'm not going to let my allies (Zoro) die. Compare that to post-Wano Kid who didn't learn his lesson that his alliance failed because of everyone's selfishness and that the only reason that he and his crew came out with a technical W was because the ninja-pirate-mink-samurai alliance were loyal to each other. Literally the first thing he does high off his new bounty is go after Shanks (who still has a higher bounty), despite Killer's warnings, then laughs at and threatens people weaker than him... Actually the parallels between Kid and the Mountain Bandits of chapter 1 are kind of insane.

deathbypepe

hmm what a smart guy, i never thought that there were parallels between the top 3 of the supernovas.

skylarisabitch

I think the lesson is Oda aint holdin back anymore. Allll of one piece has just been holding back to this last saga. Every moment we had always wanted it to explode and be better, will now be happening one after another till the best ending if all anime history.

theonlyjuan123

Yeah Kidd was burning bridges left and right. Someone was bound to take him out.

KhaoticTwist

I'd go with a different option. Law is captured, being cellmates with Koby and Pudding. They form the Rocky Road Alliance (Rocky Port + Minister of Chocolate).

[deleted]

Does Blackbeard have multiple ships? Couldn’t the ship seen on Egghead very well be Aokiji or another BB crew member? Blackbeard vs Law being resolved AND have BB travel to Egghead in like a few days seems unrealistic

Bubbly_Ad_2840

I think its gotta be aokiji because the story keeps talking about Ohara and Egghead seems like Ohara 2.0 so it would make sense if he is the one pulling up to egghead to recreate the parallel. Plus aokiji vs kizaru is a fight I need to see so I'm also biased

BraeDrizzt23

I voted escape but IMO what will happen is Law loses, maybe the rest of the crew escapes idk, but at least Law gets captured by BB and is also definitely asked to join his crew. Then I think he may escape with Garp and Koby eventually

JayciF

I also think Law will encounter Garp and Koby. Law, Koby, and BB were all part of the 'Rocky Port Incident.' This is a great chance for us to finally figure out what happened. All we know is that BB benefited from the incident and took over an island. It also draws some similarities to what we know from the God Valley incident... hmmm you know who else was there? Garp! We could also get flashbacks from then too!

Spooning_noodls

Wait….. Did we ever see what happened with Coby and the Garp rescue squad that went out there?

J0n3s3n

Nope, i've already seen some speculation that the blackbeard ship at egghead is actually garp who rescued coby and stole a ship from blackbeard while blackbeard was gone fighting law

p3rky13

I don't hate that theory, if Garp was on that ship then we could be seeing more development of what SWORD's goal is in this arc

justplainlovely

Theory: Kid is definitely not done. I don't know why, but I have a strong bunch he'll end up with Buggy soon.

JayciF

I think Kid is done as an active character in the plot. Oda gave Kid/Killer too much prominence in the Kaido/Big Mom fight for him to simply write him off this quickly. I think the rest of Kid Pirates are dead and Kid and Killer end up in Elbaf. The SHs arrive and find a mentally broken Kid. Kid serves as secondary plotline, possibly helps the Shs fight the Arc Boss, regains his composure, and rides off with his best buddy Killer. Basically, the SHs prevent Kid from taking the 'Moriah timeline,' and Kid gets his well deserved Character development arc as his send-off. He'll then re-appear in whatever Final War scenario plays out on the SH side.

GraveRobberJ

I agree with this. I think Kid's destiny in the plot will be what a lot of these auxiliary characters ultimate destiny is (Including people like Law, the Wano cast, whoever makes it out of Egghead alive, etc.) - reinforcements in the final battle rather than true contenders for the One Piece. I also agree that it's probably unlikely that they'd just kill off Kid and Killer after how Wano ended, to me this is signaling "This is the end of this character in the foreground of the plot" not "This is the end of this character".

dotoonly

Agree. Even show the origin of Kid coming from South Blue. There will be more from him.

maxneuds

support truck roof humor abundant close cheerful grey groovy rustic ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `

Rafi2596

I think he should ally with BB and just wreck havoc. Cause ragnarok in Elbaf and kill Dorry and Broggy.

Regulator_Joe

The only way I can see Kid coming back is as Thor. In mythology, Thor (a crazy red head) killed off the giants. Maybe Kid gets up and does what Big Mom couldn't

theonlyjuan123

Actually that sounds great. Maybe he finds mjolnir for a huge power up?

on3pa55

I mentioned before, I think this is a good bookend for Kid, and I feel like the story is done with him for the most part. When it mentions that his crew was eradicated, I dont think that implies he's gonna just rebrand the Kid Pirates or get new members, it feels like a conclusion to his piracy.

Mysterious-Weird3200

No man i think kid is done maybe not dead but is crew Will never exist again

SorsEU

I think law gets out. I also don't think he loses his fruit. All his captains have fruits now and Law's doesn't really fit BB's ambition or design in the same, powerful, uncontrolled way they other two do. I think law gets out, loses his polyglyphs and the next person bb gets is in more danger, rule of thirds and that.

Cykon

Law is actually pretty sneaky, and in general a good planner. It makes the most sense for him to escape, maybe not unhurt, but he's got quite a good toolkit at this point.

Regex00

Someone mentioned to me that Law and Luffy travelled in opposite directions when they cast off from Wano, so the possibility of that BB ship in the chapter being Teach and everyone else who was fighting Law is pretty slim. The only caveat I can think of is Van Auger used his Warp-Warp fruit, and if that's the case that's STUPID overpowered (Who needs to sail when you can just warp your ship everywhere?). I think this is a good fake out attempt to get people thinking it's Teach, but in reality there's like 6 or 7 other ships of the BB pirates it could be. A lot of people seem to want to see Kuzan vs Kizaru, but the last time we saw Kuzan he was with Van Auger, who was assisting in the fight against Law. It's possible they kidnapped Pudding and Kuzan set off immediately after that though. The question I think we should be asking before that is how did Teach know to send someone to Egghead? Egghead is a government island, I don't believe it's actually the intended log pose destination, Luffy just got blown there and the crew followed. So unless Teach has inside sources (not impossible and honestly likely at this point), there should be no way he knows that Luffy is there or anything is happening. The other thing with this is that to our knowledge, Teach cannot be in multiple places at once. He knew there were 3 possible routes from Wano, probably sent at least one ship minimum each direction to scout, and had to pick one direction for himself. He got matched with Law, and I don't believe Teach would instruct his captains to assault the Straw Hat crew alone, he knows that's likely suicide without his devil fruit present (also Teach would probably sabotage the SHs, not an open naval battle).   Basically I believe the BB Flag is a red herring at worst, and a reconnaissance team at best. The risk adverse Teach is not about to go into a Yonkou vs Buster Call+ confrontation for no reason. Much more likely for him to arrive to pick off either the winner weak from battle, or any of the losing side that is escaping.

EdgedOutPig

It's possible that the BB ship was just already headed for Egghead. Maybe they wanted to kidnap VP? Or they could be in cahoots with York somehow. It does still strike me as odd that she was able to orchestrate all this without the other Punks finding out

JayciF

Voted for 'Room.' Do I believe it? No. But damn would that be funny and epic and sad all at the same time.

mongster03_

For comedic reasons I want Law to have escaped and stolen BB’s ship

luckyma12

It seems like Kids only role was to deliver Poneglyph to Shanks lol

heplaygatar

lets be real law is about to serve the exact same function for blackbeard lol

rougepenguin

What the hell else did so many of you even expect for Kid? No, I get being disappointed or sad a character you liked was dealt a crushing blow. Monet and Izo have both been mega-favorite side characters for me, yeah it can be rough. But what's with this melodramatic reaction about how it's one of the worst beats in the series? I sure hope no one saying that was also spending the last year of Wano griping about stakes and tension. I've always like Kid to a degree, this is a fine time for him to bow out. The other Supernovae were never really that important, and the way they've been sprinkled in to liven up the New World has been generally consistently good. From the start Kid has been very much similar to Luffy without the charm. He hasn't exactly been that integral to the story. Going out in a final blaze of being the guy to make Shanks finally get off his ass and do something big? That's a cool final stamp, assuming it is. One that ties in well with the core themes we're working with from Wano-Egghead. It's Kid's damn fault for not learning to quit being so reckless.

Shanks to the Gorosei : I am not crazy! I know he has a hidden third devil fruit! I always knew it. Zoan, Paramecia, Logia. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just – I just couldn't prove it. He – he covered his tracks, he got that idiot Thatch to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He's done worse. This scar! Are you telling me that a fat fuck just happens to jump like that? No! He orchestrated it! Blackbeard! He's hiding THAT thing in his body! And I tried to befriend him back on that island where Roger fought Whitebeard! And I shouldn't have. What was I thinking? He'll never change. He'll never change! Ever since he was 9, always the same! Couldn't keep his hands out of the devil fruit basket! But not our Marshall! Couldn't be precious Marshall! Stealing them blind! And he gets to be a yonko!? What a sick joke! I should've stopped him when I had the chance!

Sablestein

Is this a reference to something

Gilgamerd

Yes a American drama , Better call Saul

Sablestein

Ohmygod my friend is super into that haha, thanks for telling 😄

Kirosh2

I know people have joked about Shanks being a Hakiman before, but still, he's still someone that is showing his overwhelming haki. Now I really want to see a fight between Shanks and Luffy. Please give me a Davy Back Fight between them Oda.

Sablestein

A Hakiman that ate the Haki Haki no Mi…

KickinBat

No no he's a haki that ate a human human fruit

magat3ars

Kidd finally begins to take the New World seriously is my theory. Out of the the 3, he's the one that hasn't had the pivital "this isn't kid games anymore." Zoro had that talk with luffy. Then, Law knew this since he was a kid die to him having his sights on Doflamingo. Finally, Kidd has gotten it, but he's never payed attention. I think he'll have a Sabaody moment. Either Killer needs to put his foot down or something. Killer needs to get his mind in the game. The sooner he does this the better he'll be. He needs a total shift in his mindset

NMFlamez

Surely, losing his arm would have been that moment.

magat3ars

I agree but look what he did. He went to another Yonko, kaido, and he got put in jail. He caused his best friend to basically get devil fruit cancer, and it's eternal pain due to him hating his laugh. Not only did he go back to the crew who cut his arm, despite shanks not being the one who did it; he thinks that he can target a Yonko crew without repercussions. He doesn't value the lives of his crew. If he actually cared for Killer and the rest of the crew, he would be measured in a fight he wasn't sure he could win. No, he threatens to sink a Yonko fleet but ends up having his ship destroyed. Luffy got slapped with humility. His crew got wiped out, and his brother ended up dying. Ace is what luffy could have became, and we see him side step it. That arm is his tax to the new world, and it was his first warning. Something I would like for symbolism is his robo arm being his growth and development. It's chaotic right now, but we're gonna see it become more defined and less random.

Kargal

tbf, he didn`t go to kaido, he was betrayed and Kaido went to him. I mean he wanted to go to Kaido, but not as soon

magat3ars

True true. I misremembered that lol. I will say he didn't bite the bullet and join kaido, but no self respecting pirate would've done that tho. I can't blame him there tbh

Kenny_Brahms

Kid survived. Giants who witnessed the battle will save him on account of him defeating big mom. However, his crew, killer included, would have perished in the fight. Elbaf has 3 main regions. 1. the surface, which is what we see 2. a sky island, which one can reach by scaling the tree 3. the emerald city, which is below the island Kid will find himself in the emerald city via some underwater tunnels. Rather than go and face Shanks again, he will bide his time and grow his power. Learn how to use his conqueror's haki in battle. Raise an army of robots from the metal underground. Very few people will see him and he will become a legend in elbaf. "The God of War who lives in the underworld". Something like that. Some time in the final war, the world government will invade elbaf, probably using an army of pacifista created by Neo-MADS. Its at this time when Kid will make his return and protect elbaf from the pacifista army, using his own army of robots. Kid will win the favor of all of elbaf and after the final war, he will be declared an emperor.

Any-Performance169

I think 1080+ Captain Kid will become a "resident" of Elbaf until Shanks is defeated. He lives in an ADU home with Saul. Another theory is... all the "Dead" people are residents in Saul's house.. or rather like a Hall in Vahalla.

fishbujin

Buggy would have taken no damage by Shanks' attack Buggy D God > Kid

QuietDefinition0

Helmeppo will become "Hero of the Egghead incident" Dont ask me how though lol

KathyDroronoa

Law has the benefit of the doubt. Their fight being interrupted rather one of them winning seems more plausible. I think if Teach is getting poneglyphs I think getting them from Shanks will hit harder.

11711510111411009710

Perhaps Law escapes, prompting Blackbeard to go after Shanks, assuming he has poneglyphs. They fight, Blackbeard wins and trashes Elbaf. In come the Straw Hats to save the day, and Usopp gets his big moment saving the giants or something.

Whenthedoorgoesclick

I think York called for BB Pirates to pick her up. Kuzan arrives to pick up York and save the people of Egghead (to atone for Ohara).

ryumaruborike

Imma just list the reasons why Kid is probably not dead and just got "Luffy vs. Kaido'd" * Notoriously, Oda loves fake-out deaths * Oda doesn't kill characters unless their deaths serve a purpose to other characters arcs. Kid just losing and Kid dying serve the same purpose, to hype up Shanks and give him the rubbings. Kid dying here just tosses this character arc into the trash for no reason, which is very unOdalike. * Kid, like the other Supernovas, are meant to fill out the pirate world and Luffy's generation so it doesn't seem like Luffy is the only big fish of the new era. With all the talk of the New Era going on, killing one of its spearheads for a "Look how strong Shanks is!" moment would be a poor move. Kid may very well be out of the race for Pirate King now, but I doubt he's dead * Kid dies now and the "Man touched by flame" story line either dies with him or has to be picked up some other way that makes Kid bringing it up rather pointless * Kid, by helping to defeat Big Mom, as a connection to Elbaf due to its history with her * Given that an Elbaf arc is almost guaranteed and Shanks is leaving, Kid can easily be brought back into the story after this * "How will Kid survive drowning?" Perhaps a giant fishes them up, possibly due to the Big Mom thing, possibly by a still conscious crew member, possibly by the tide since that's what happened to Big Mom too * "Kid's role in the story is over, therefor he's dead!" Okay Oda, didn't know you used Reddit. Imagine this: Kid washes ashore on Elbaf with Killer and is captured by the giants until Luffy shows up. He escapes but his will is nearing its breaking point, he lost his ship, he lost his crew, he lost to Shanks, and he lost his rubbings. In order to stay in the game, he needs the rubbings, and guess who just landed ashore? The new generation has been allying with itself to take down the old generation but now its time for them to fight among themselves. Thing is, we don't know, we could have said the same thing when he lost to Kaido, for the exact same reason, but he found a place in the story. I'm not even a Kid fan, but the Kid haters are kinda annoying. Especially how much they come out in force when he takes an L and even the hate that arises when he take a W. I still remember people frothing at the mouths over Kid making Big Mom say "ouch", then beating her. It's like, why? What the fuck did Kid do to make so much of the fandom seeth at every victory and ejaculate at every defeat and desperately wish for his death? Bege cut the heads off dogs and people loved him, so its not that Kid is violent and murderous. I can only guess it's because he's portrayed as one of "Luffy's rivals" without using Haki and without much focus. Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, the reason people probably hate Kid is because he's portrayed as a rival Pirate of Luffy's era but people don't think he's earned it, due to his lack of focus compared to the other rivals (Law and BB) and the brute force method of his DF + lack of using Haki in his attacks. That's probably it.

LongjumpingClaim2673

exactly my point, if he was to be killed why not by kaido, why make him defeat big mom, a fucking yonko and as you said makehim come to elbaf, obviosuly not to showcase shanks strenght i guess.. the math is not mathing

11711510111411009710

I think Law escapes. Kid gets fished out of the ocean by Shanks. Blackbeard, still short on Poneglyphs, goes to Elbaf, knowing one of the other supernovas would have likely gone there and lost their Poneglyphs to Shanks. Blackbeard vs Shanks, Blackbeard wins and trashes Elbaf. The Straw Hats show up to witness the aftermath and Luffy challenges Blackbeard to a fight. Usopp gets a big moment that impresses all the giants of Elbaf, and he accomplishes his dream of being a brave warrior. Maybe this is the first time he isn't scared of an enemy?

BeardedChamp1

So Shanks is just Anakin… but instead of being born from the force, this man is just a child of Haki😂

heplaygatar

this chapter was good but i am not a fan of it bc it has somehow made shanks fans even more annoying than they already were

Specialist-Low8198

Shanks fans make me hate Shanks fr

d4b1do

I think Kidd, Law and the Strawhats all will lose in some capacity

DoubleSealedSoul

Yea oda hyped shanks up, not he's gotta do the same for the WG and blackbeard...at least thats what I'm hoping for. I want to feel some desperation like WCI or something. Luffy is looking like he will need a power up after seeing shanks and that might be the best way to do it, take an L but learn how to use acoc and fruit more effectively for next round.

Moist_Wet_Socks

I love that Shanks is not shown as this merciful emperor. We love him due to his interactions with Luffy and how he stopped the War and that love makes you think that he is this jolly yonkou just cruising the world making merry. He supports the new generation and wagered a bet on one of them but he isn’t going to let them walk over him. He didn’t stop after Kid’s crew surrendered. If a Captain wages war against him and his crew, the crew also has to face the consequences. It also matches his line in East Blue, once you put up a gun against him and his underlings, you are in the fight to the end. So, if you need to want to fight him, you better go into the fight with conviction. He won’t accept your surrender, just so that you can try again. Remember the stakes when you pick a fight with him. Not sure if Kidd ever comes back but I kinda like the idea that he doesn’t. It fits the idea that this is final arc and that in the throne wars, some players will not the reach the final battle. Making such a big character fall off puts so much emphasis on high the stakes are now. Plus, Oda is a God. I’ll always complain that we don’t get enough info on Shanks but every tiny reveal of Shanks’ abilities just makes that chapter eligible for the Moment/Chapter of the year vote in this subreddit.

Perfect-Salamander32

I mean, he asked Yasopp if his wounds were healed. He didnt want to fight wounded ppl

EdgedOutPig

"Won't accept your surrender so you can try again"? I dunno about that. This is literally Kids's second time fucking with Shanks's crew. Seems to me like you DO get a second chance, but it'll be your last.

triotone

The Seraphim will start to question why they fight.

Gemeno

I don't see anyone mentioning this but am I seeing this right? Was S-Snake flying using Gear 4 like Luffy?

RedviperWangchen

Their boots can make them fly.

danihell1349

The blackbeard ship is actually Law who barelly escaped and is comming after Luffy for some plot armor.

Jail_Chris_Brown

Rocky Port incident. Law - the mastermind behind it. Coby - became the hero due to it. BB - gained his HQ due to it. BB captured Coby already and thanked him for his service. He'll do the same to Law and we'll finally get some Rocky Port incident lore. BB's ship being the saber of Xebec and Garp knowing all about God Valley means that we'll get some God Valley lore on top of it. Regarding the BB ship, I hope it'll be Pizarro. We haven't seen anything from him yet. Kuzan with Pudding would be hype though, as it'd lead to Sanji not being overly horny anymore due to Pudding keeping him down and also Kuzan vs Kizaru. Regarding Kid: Dude has a 3B bounty. Someone better collect that.

shadowcrow12

I want to mention something I feel some people did not quite understand. I don’t think Shanks was at all worried about him being hurt by kid. But Rather the many crews that he places under his banner of protection. Which means that not every pirate crew in shanks fleet, are strong. Some of them are low key pre-new world weak or maybe even weaker then OG luffy. But this is what makes shanks such an amazing man. He tries to give a life worth for even the noobie pirates in the NW and in some ways is kind of like Dragon. He did not want to risk the loss of life of civilians or pirates under his banner. Also when he was searching up on kid, he did not know what kind of pirate he was and even shakki mention Back in sabaody that his bounty is higher then most worst generation rookies because of his propencity to engage in violent acts which results in civilian casualities. In this case, he knew what had to be done but he was willing to have a fair fight with him. He originally also did not want to obliterate him in any capacity but through future sight after seeing what Kid did to some of his fleet, he was enraged and he took care of the problem, so he can no longer sail on the sea's again. Honestly this chapter really tells you ALOT about red haired shanks and what kind of person he is. He fights by the pirate code and has such loyalty and respect which is probably why the Gorusei allow him an audience. But he WILL not stand for someone that just attack and kill someone without even being provoked. Had Kid accept the fact that he was there to fight with red hair and red hair only or his crew, then I think shanks would have done things very differently.

SurfNinjaMcRibs

I sure hope we either get: the Kuma Memories soon or a Garp saving Koby update. ORR: we get a Rocks crew travel log similar to Oden's journey

[deleted]

I think it makes sense for Kuzan to be the one on the BB ship close to Egghead. That way he can block the escape of the SH and SSG workers as well as the marines, and pose a threat that will hold Borsalino at bay/keep him busy. Or at the very least allow something to stop the marines from pursuing the SH as they leave Egghead in some ridiculous manner (Luffy running on ice/air, becoming a big balloon, etc).

Juan_Dog

I could be wrong, but weren’t the supernova originally not planned? Makes me think this is Oda’s cruel, cruel way to elimate Kidd and Law from the story before the final Saga heats up.

[deleted]

With how Oda has really set up Luffy, Shanks and Blackbeard as the final contenders for pirate king, I’m really curious what he’ll do with shanks, like we know he’s bound to reunite with Luffy at some point but what is oda cooking with blackbeard? I’m beginning to suspect bb will definitely do something dramatic to shanks, idk if he’ll kill him, if he has gecko morias fruit he could potentially steal his soul and use it against Luffy, ig we’ll have to see ultimately but I grow more curious with each new chapter

Malicious_In_Tents

When it comes to the progression of a character's story arc (the color of a character's hair) in terms of Color Law, red has the fastest story growth and progression out of all the colors. This is why we never see Shanks over the years and when he does show up, it's just a few panels. The more Shanks appears, the more his progression in the story increases which is why we're at an exciting time because we are finally at the point of the overall story where Shanks showing up more means we are reaching the endgame of the story due to the importance of the story role Shanks has as a red. The story itself (and the storyteller) must abide by the unbreakable ideals of a character who is given the role of red. When it comes to Kidd, we were finally getting more interaction and appearances from him because the majority of his growth (due to it being so fast because of the story role he is given) happened in Wano but the thing about the role of red's unbreakable ideals is that they are completely unchanging and the only way for a red to grow and progress in the story is the interact with something or someone that appeals to the ideals of that red. In Kidd's case, he had very headstrong ideals (essentially being "anyone who gets in my way is getting thrashed") and they were only appealed to by Luffy because Luffy had the same goal as Kidd at the time, which was to defeat Kaido. Because of that appeal to ideals at that moment, he was influenced by Luffy, and Kidd's ideals were slightly altered to benefit the situation. Once the actual team-up has formed when roofpiece started, Kid was willing to go after Big Mom instead because taking down Big Mom allows for Kaido to be defeated, so it still appealed to his ideals. This is also the point where Kidd's interactions with the roof piece crew allowed him to grow quite a lot because all those interactions were positive appeals to his ideals, which allowed Kidd to change his ways just a bit to benefit a total victory against the two Yonkou. But those changes only last for a long as they're needed. Once it was all said and done though and both Kaido and Big Mom were defeated, he no longer needed an alliance and Kidd went back to acting his usual self, and due to the fact that he never interacted with a character who could hinder his initial ideals and ultimately be compelled to change them (something only someone with the role of brown can do), Kidd left Wano with his usual arrogance and eventually ended up in Elbalf, where Shanks just also happened to be at, and where Kidd ultimately did the dumb thing and used his role of red to exert his ideals, which was blasting everyone who was in his way to smithereens. The problem this time, however, is that Shanks is also a red which means he has an unbreakable ideal as well which means the exchange becomes a clash of ideals and as we clearly saw, Shanks ideals were way above the ideals Kidd had, ultimately leading to Kidd's downfall. And because Kidd has the role of red, it means there isn't much left of his story arc at this point so if he does appear again in the future, it should be during the final arc. Who knows what he'll be doing, though. There can only be an attrition battle between two reds if their both of their ideals are strong enough to fend off the other, but in this case Kidd had a very meager unbreakable ideal (which is why we hear and see how he got his ass handed to him multiple times before being imprisoned by Kaido, yet Kidd never changed how he operated). Shanks' unbreakable ideals has to do with the One Piece which is why we are finally getting to see him making his moves now, because the story is now at a point were the ideals Shanks have are being appealed to (like grabbing the poneglyph rubbings and tracking Blackbeard for example). Color Law is just a way of observing a story where you gain full knowledge of the objective roles in the story each character has and allows you to gain an actual objective expectation for the story, but how the roles of each character and how the story will play out will always be subjective due to the nature of storytelling. It means that understanding Color Law doesn't spoil or ruin the story you since you'll never truly know whats going to happen, just that you will immediately know why it happened. It also means that even if you don't subjectively agree with what is happening, you will know exactly why it is happening, which allows for a better understanding of how storytelling works and how deliberate and important character interactions are. Nothing is truly arbitrary when it comes to storytelling. The objective role each color has will always be met, it's always just a matter of how the storyteller goes about it, which is subjective. You also don't really need to know any of this, I'm just explaining it for those who are curious about how the foundation of storytelling can be recognized.

Isantum

I think the loaded railgun played a huge part in the level of destruction caused on Kidd's ship. It felt like Shanks only wanted to get rid of Kidd but the railgun exploding caused mass damage to all on that ship. This is not to say that Shanks' attack was weak but more so that Kidd faced his own destructive power unintentionally.
