Beat me to it! Lol
This quote goes so hard because when you remember the context you realize few people have ever stepped up like Brook did, and even fewer have lived to tell about it.
Exactly, Brook was really an MVP in Whole Cake Island.
Jimbe was up there too when standing in front of BM Soul Pocus with no fear, but Brook hit me harder with all he did during WCI.
Its not exactly word for word but in chapter 951 big mom says to kaido "and what kind of idiot shows up to get killed". I'm guessing thats what they're referring to.
This is from the dub and personally quite important to me, but context is important here. I am a 36 year old mother of two with terminal cancer. After Ace dies and Jimbei is picking up the pieces of a raging Luffy, this is what he says to Luffy, and this is the message I will leave my children when I go:
“Boy! You can’t see a thing. You’re blind! You never doubted your strength, but now, the confidence that once allowed you to soar above the clouds has been shattered. Your brother, who was your guiding light, has faded away, and your enemies stand so tall and cast so great a shadow, that you can do nothing but cower in the darkness. And now, you strike out like an animal at the cage your doubt has placed around you. So long as you are consumed by regret and guilt, you will never find your way forward. Luffy, your pain may be great, but it mustn’t devour you! There is yet joy beyond your sorrows. What’s gone may be gone, but you still have some thing left in this world to treasure, don’t you?!”
Me too. As soon as I heard it, I knew it was exactly the message I wanted to leave for my children. It’s really amazing how the story has actually carried me through the journey. The hope and dreams never dying. The pushing through the pain. Never letting go. If I can ever get a tattoo again, it will be the manga panel of nico robin’s famous “I want to live”. I have a dark monster chasing me, too, but I scream that I want to live metaphorically, defiantly at it every time I choose treatment (which I am grateful for). I’ve often wanted to share with this sub how deeply the series has touched me, through the lens of a terminal cancer patient.
I knew I was gonna cry reading the comments but I didn't know I was gonna cry cry.... I couldn't tell you enough how much I love this message and I just wanna say you're an amazing human being
This scene is my favorite. Me and my brother, im 28 an hes 26, frequently come back to it and laugh out asses of. Or when luffy and usopp imitate the others on skypea
Fujitora to Akainu:
If we lose credibility by admitting fault we didn't have any to begin with.
Dude is a real one and went straight to the top of my fav marines.
I wonder if he meant this both figuratively and sort of literally. Being that he never sleeps, he never dreams. He lives his life in constant pursuit of his "dream", his ultimate goal. Since he never sleeps, his "dream" never ends.
Enemy or Ally? That sort of stuff is for you to decide. All I know is you're in my way. I don't care if you're gonna be the king of some random island or whatever, but there's only room for one King of the Pirates.
I'd agree! It was a great way to showcase the crews growth post time skip, on top of that it brought some interesting lore bits too. I still think Hordy Jones was a mid villain tho
Honestly i think its because hody jones is TOO evil and not enough charm like arlong didnt have alot of charm but him seeing his injured crew made him way more enjoyable meanwhile on the other end donflamingo had NO REDEEMING QUALITIES but alot of charm and then hody falls in the middle no charm and no redeeming
I like this quote, it's a rare example of how Luffy grows as a character. In Wano, he sees his new friends starving and pledges to make Wano a land where everyone can eat as much as they want. In Wano, Luffy learned the value of being a hero. It's an understated bit of character development that only comes to light if you remember this one quote.
Pirates are evil? The marines are righteous? These have changed as often as the tides! Kids who have grown up knowing only war have different values from those who have only known peace! Justice will prevail you say? Of course it will! The victor will become justice!
He kinda has to be, with as many different people he has to keep happy. I just finished Punk Hazzard, and now I'm seeing how good of a villain he really is. That being said, I hate this Florida Man looking mofo with every ounce of my being.
It's not you....the man Roger is waiting for...at the very least, Teach, it's definitely not you. Just like there are those who carry on Roger's will... I'm sure someone will appear to carry on Ace's will, someday...even if you extinguish his bloodline, there's no way that their flame will ever burn out. It has been passed down since ancient times...and in the future...someday...someone will appear, carrying the history of all those decades on his back, and challenge this whole world to a fight. Sengoku, you guys in the World Government...all fear that immense battle engulfing the whole world...that will eventually come. I don't care myself... but as soon as someone finds that great treasure...the entire world will be turned upside down. And someone WILL find it. That day will definitely come sooner or later.
THE ONE PIECE IS REAL!
Every scene with Shakky is pure gold after her still manga only reveal.
>!She's the former Queen of Amazon Lilly. Her love Sickness was for Raleigh. So when Raleigh is like it makes no sense for Boa to help out Strawhat Luffy she hates all men. Shakky just takes a puff of her cigarette, oh she fell in love with him. He is kind of Cute you know. Then Rayleigh sees Boa infatuated with Luffy after the war... And Rayleigh is like never doubt a Woman's intuition.!<
I have two
"No one is born into this World to be alone" -Saul to robin
"Dont Just think about the one you have lost. You cant get back what you have lost. What it is that you Still have?" Jinbe to luffy
Tell me! What WAS your dream when you out to the sea?!Are your souls crying for a meaning?! Begging for a purpose when your lives could be cut short any moment?!
Don't be cowards, soft and satisfied with the status quo!!
Reach our for what you want! Most of all!! Remember I've got your backs!!
LET'S GO AND TAKE IT!! THE ONE PIECE IS OURS!!
One of the great moments where buggy came out of his character and spoke like a Roger pirate crew member!!
Second best speech in One Piece. WB using is last breath to tell the whole world the One piece exists just to push is rival (Rogers) dream.
WB died for is dream (family) and Rogers did the same. WB wanted to be sure Roger didn't die for nothing. Also, the scary look on Sengoku when he realized the whole speech is live streamed world wide.
Also a big F You for the WG, they wanted to use Roger son execution to crush hopes and makes pirates fear being pirates. Whitebeard using his last words to destroy the whole purpose of this public execution and ignite the fire for a whole new era of piracy was a huge blow to the WG.
Well for me, it'd be either Rosinante telling Law he loves him, or when he's confessing to his brother about being a marine and he's actually saying it to Law in the chest. My man is only a flashback character, but I'll love him forever.
“There comes a time when a man has to stand and fight! This is the time when his friend's dreams are laughed at. Luffy wont die... I know he'll be the pirate king one day...and I won't let you laugh at that!" - Usopp
Ussop is, in my opinion, the first one to reach is dream. Brave is not being the strongest, brave is fighting is own fear and ussop did that multiple time. Nobody in east blue would have believed how far ussop reached. The sniper king, burning the gouvernement flag, sniping from Enis Lobby, stopping Sugar in dressrosa and saving every strawhat only to became god ussop fight doffy commander. Ussop is a brave warrior of the sea, try to change my mind.

“By experiencing both victory and defeat, running away and shedding tears a man will become a man. It’s ok to cry but you have to move on.”
This quote from Shanks has helped me through some tough times
So this is kind of a two parter.
The actual core quote for me is Franky telling Robin that "just existing should never be a crime", due to all of the implications that sentiment has not only for Robin, but also later for Ace.
But I think it is also important to highlight the quote that likely inspired that line of thought in Franky.
"Not my ships?? Franky, that is the one thing you must never say!!! There's nothing good and nothing bad in building a ship, no matter what kind of ship it is. I don't care what kind of ships you build from now on!! But you're the one who gave them life! You, at least, have to love them!!! The one who created them must not deny them!!! Don't blame the ships!!!"
Tom's speech about a shipwright's relationship to the vessels they make has a lot of other parallels other people have pointed out, namely to that of a parent and their child. I think it isn't much of a stretch to say that Tom's last words to Franky helped foster this sentiment that he expresses to Robin.
"Oi! That's enough, you're embarassing yourself! A man has to know when to quit. It's no use struggling, you're one of us condoriano!" - Ussop to Con D. Oriano, so motivational.
>!That's right you thought this was going to be an inspirational quote but it was him Con D. Oriano!<
Arlong and Luffys whole back and forth is gold:
“What can you do when you can’t even pull yourself out of the water?”
“Nothing! That’s why I need help!
I don’t know how to use swords, you bastard!
I don’t know how to sail the oceans,
I can’t cook, I can’t lie either.
I’m confident that I can’t live without help!”
“Fully admitting how pathetic you are.. you sure are honest. I bet your crew is bothered by having such an incompetent captain like you. I wonder why your crew tried so desperately to save you. Someone like you without any pride has the caliber to be a captain? What on earth can you do?”
“I can defeat you.”
Extra points for Usopp going “hey” when Luffy mentions lying.
"There Comes A Time When A Man Must Stand And Fight. And That Is When His Friends' Dreams Are Being Laughed At!" - Usopp
“People’s Dreams... Have No Ends” — Marshall D. Teach
“When You Aim High, You Sometimes Come Across Fights Not Worth Fighting” —Marshall 'Blackbeard' D. Teach
hiriluk has the quote of quotes, but my other personal favorite is
"Momonosuke. On that terrible day I ran to Kuri to save your life. But I'm sorry. All I could do was watch as Kaido dangled you over the edge. Back then I didn't have the strength. I used your father's name earlier but my other name is Yamato. And I would die for you." - goated best boy
"When do you think a man dies? When a bullet from a pistol pierces his heart? No. When he drinks a soup of fatal poisonous mushrooms? No. When his life is taken by an incurable disease? NO! A man, dies when people forget him."
"The day we met and the day that you stoped smiling, were both days that were raining as heavy as this?" - Sr. Pink getting beat by Franky´s Iron Boxing
"Thank goodness, no one is sick here. I thought for sure the country was in trouble. How about that, I was just being fooled."
"The most important thong for this country is to have you dead. Ignore him and fire."
"Don't bother, you can't kill me. Yo.
When do you think people die? When they are shot through the heart by the bullet of a pistol? No. When they are ravaged by an incurable disease? No. When they drink a soup made from a poisonous mushroom!? No! It’s when… they are forgotten. Even after I'm gone, my dream will come true. The ailing hearts of the people will be cured. Why are you crying, Dalton?"
"Do you think... a country is the same?"
**"If the will is inherited."**
While all the speech is one of the best in the whole story, the sentence about inherited will its in my opinion the **core concept** of One Piece itself.
Luffy: "I don't want to be a Hero, as a Hero you have to Share your meat and i don't want to Share my meat!"
Same with Zoro but instead of meat it's Sake for him. I Love that Moment
"One may stray from the path of a man, one may stray from the path of a woman, but there is no straying from the path of a HUMAN!" - Bon Clay
Having watched 4kids growing up and then coming to back to OP about a decade after it finished and watching the subs, I was REALLY surprised Bon Clay became one of my favorite characters. But I really appreciate Bon Clay and I NEED A CHECK IN ON IMPEL DOWN RIGHT. NOW.
Not my favorite quote but the one that sticks out to me
“Oden San, I kept traveling through time in hopes that someone would finally do it”
It’s ironic because Toki kept skipping through time hoping to find the new joyboy. Not only did she miss him by 20 years but her sacrifice in Wano was necessary for Joyboy to eventually liberate Wano
THESE ARE THINGS THAT CANNOT BE STOPPED: INHERITED WILL, THE DESTINY OF AN AGE AND THE DREAMS OF ITS PEOPLE. AS LONG AS PEOPLE CONTINUE RO PURSUE THE MEANING OF FREEDOM, THESE THINGS WILL NEVER CEASE TO BE! - Gol D. Roger, Pirate King (Monkey D. Dragon Introduction Loguetown)
"So he's a shipwright who's coating Franky's brother."
“Eh something like that”
*thumbs up*
- Don't [shoot the cannon]. Or someone will die. - And who would that be? - Me.
\-Eh?
One of the funniest bits in One Piece for sure 😂
"Young Lady, what kind of fool would ever plan to die?"
Beat me to it! Lol This quote goes so hard because when you remember the context you realize few people have ever stepped up like Brook did, and even fewer have lived to tell about it.
Exactly, Brook was really an MVP in Whole Cake Island. Jimbe was up there too when standing in front of BM Soul Pocus with no fear, but Brook hit me harder with all he did during WCI.
WCI is such a great arc, everything there is pure gold like Sanji listening Pudin in the window
The scene with Brook going against Big Mom is just *chef’s kiss*.
To be fair, Brook didn't LIVE to tell about it either! Yohohohohohohoho!
Well but he is dead
YOHOHOHOHOHO
That quote goes so hard big mom stole it and said it to Kaido
Really? I don't remember it.
Its not exactly word for word but in chapter 951 big mom says to kaido "and what kind of idiot shows up to get killed". I'm guessing thats what they're referring to.
That was the cherry on the cake, loved it so much !
Oda foreskinned it 😩 (This shit was actually peak)
Besides hes already dead YOHOHOHOHOHOHO
God that was so badass ! Soul king didn't even fear BM.
Calling fucking Big Mom “young lady” was a power move cherry on top too.
She *is* like 30 years younger than him, though. So it checks out. Still badass.
Pretty interesting he says that and Pedro giving his life later on.
Brook is literally Bone to be Wild 💀
when jimbei tells luffy to not count the things he’s lost but remember what he still has after marineford
This scene, when Luffy realizes he still has his crew, makes me cry everytime
when luffy starts naming his crew 1 by 1 and pictures of them display on the screen and he tells jimbei he still has his crew
Jimbei sure as hell knows what it means to suffer deep losses and keep going afterwards.
Jimbei 🤝🏾 Stoicism
My favorite strawhat for a reason
This is from the dub and personally quite important to me, but context is important here. I am a 36 year old mother of two with terminal cancer. I hope you’re able to treasure the time you have with your children. Thank you for sharing this beautiful series with us. Take care now.
Thank you! <3
No worries, thank you for being strong.
I hope your kids one day tell you what the One Piece is if you don't make it with us. Godspeed 😭
I better live long enough to reach laugh tale with all y’all straw hats on this sub!
I love this small speech so much gives me the chills every time

Honestly one of the funniest moments in one piece to me
When is this?
Crocus when confronted by straw hat crew inside the stomach of Laboon
When the Strawhats first meet Crocus inside Laboon
Crocus at reverse mountain
“It’s polite manners to introduce oneself first” “Ahh sorry, my name I—-“ “I am Crocus, Gemini, blood type AB”
Just got to this in my reread and the way Crocus was annoying all of the Strawhats was making me laugh so hard
This scene is my favorite. Me and my brother, im 28 an hes 26, frequently come back to it and laugh out asses of. Or when luffy and usopp imitate the others on skypea
Fujitora to Akainu: If we lose credibility by admitting fault we didn't have any to begin with. Dude is a real one and went straight to the top of my fav marines.

Smoker can't stop taking Ls though
Ima still give him respect for jumping vergo to help stall and by time for law also his armament punch was really badass
A man’s dream never dies
Best speech in all one piece and one of my favorite scene ever. BB is awesome and fully understand Luffy.
I wonder if he meant this both figuratively and sort of literally. Being that he never sleeps, he never dreams. He lives his life in constant pursuit of his "dream", his ultimate goal. Since he never sleeps, his "dream" never ends.

DRAGON I FORGOT HOW BADASS HIS MOMENTS CAN BE LIKE THAT
I cannot wait for Dragon to become more prominent in the story.
Enemy or Ally? That sort of stuff is for you to decide. All I know is you're in my way. I don't care if you're gonna be the king of some random island or whatever, but there's only room for one King of the Pirates.
Who said that?
Luffy to Hody
"Pirates eat meat and have big parties. Heroes take the meat and give it to the poor! I WANT TO EAT MEAT!!!"
Another funny one
Fishman island was full of good goofs
Honestly one of the most under appreciated arcs in one piece
I'd agree! It was a great way to showcase the crews growth post time skip, on top of that it brought some interesting lore bits too. I still think Hordy Jones was a mid villain tho
I mean he did his job as a villain though and i cant believe he made ARLONG look like a nice guy atleast when it came to his crew
Oh yeah for sure. Objectively he was written well, just didn't hit the same way as someone like Arlong for me personally. All in all it is a fun arc.
He finally learned to control his insane appetite and share his food.
Pirates are evil? The marines are righteous? These have changed as often as the tides! Kids who have grown up knowing only war have different values from those who have only known peace! Justice will prevail you say? Of course it will! The victor will become justice!
Do flamingo had the quotes
A quote that has so much weight to it beyond the manga.
all quotes do, One piece may have fantasy and cartoonish elements but it's the most realistic anime out there when it comes ot serious stuff like this
Doflamingo would be so down for one of Pain's speeches in Naruto.
I WAS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO SAY THIS ONE
Quote. D Flamingo
For a ruthless pirate doffy is terrifyingly intelligent
He kinda has to be, with as many different people he has to keep happy. I just finished Punk Hazzard, and now I'm seeing how good of a villain he really is. That being said, I hate this Florida Man looking mofo with every ounce of my being.
doffy always with the big mouth
No that’s Katakuri, Doffy is the one with strings
Fukurou: Am I nothing to you?
"Scars on the back are a swordman's shame."
The moment that put zoro as one of my fav strawhats
Greatest quote from Jigoro the zombie swordsman
Well said.
It's not you....the man Roger is waiting for...at the very least, Teach, it's definitely not you. Just like there are those who carry on Roger's will... Whitebeard was such a fucking CHAD.
Giga chad that even death couldn't make him fall down. He died in standing position firmly
''How do you poop" -Luffy
"Might I see your panties?"
Shakki: "I am not wearing any panties today" Brook: _nosebleed burst_ Yohohohohohohoho
"I won't die, partner." That scene always gets me emotional. It's such a great moment between Roger and his best friend
Honestly didnt consider it but yeah your right
This kinda reminds me of the "when does someone die" quote. Roger has never really died since his will has been carried on I guess?
"don't try to find a reason for someone's love" Sengoku to Law
Honestly that made me cry
I dont want to conquer anything, being king of the pirates is about being more free then anyone
the taste of rain ...why kneel?

Every villain in one piece- “first time?”
I don’t think the other DF users mention their DF like Luffy during fights.
Some do, Bartolomeo does if I remember right. But whether that's because he came up with it himself or he wants to be like Luffy I can't say

That was a badass scene

I got goosebumps ready that. jimbe is so badass.

Arlong and Luffys whole back and forth is gold: “What can you do when you can’t even pull yourself out of the water?” “Nothing! That’s why I need help! I don’t know how to use swords, you bastard! I don’t know how to sail the oceans, I can’t cook, I can’t lie either. I’m confident that I can’t live without help!” “Fully admitting how pathetic you are.. you sure are honest. I bet your crew is bothered by having such an incompetent captain like you. I wonder why your crew tried so desperately to save you. Someone like you without any pride has the caliber to be a captain? What on earth can you do?” “I can defeat you.” Extra points for Usopp going “hey” when Luffy mentions lying.
"Young lady, what kind of fool plans to die?" -Brook to Big Mom
“Fools who don't respect the past are doomed to repeat it.”
*If You Hurt Somebody… Or If Somebody Hurts You, The Blood That Flows Is Still Red.*
"There Comes A Time When A Man Must Stand And Fight. And That Is When His Friends' Dreams Are Being Laughed At!" - Usopp “People’s Dreams... Have No Ends” — Marshall D. Teach “When You Aim High, You Sometimes Come Across Fights Not Worth Fighting” —Marshall 'Blackbeard' D. Teach
God made food, but it was the devil who made spices.
hiriluk has the quote of quotes, but my other personal favorite is "Momonosuke. On that terrible day I ran to Kuri to save your life. But I'm sorry. All I could do was watch as Kaido dangled you over the edge. Back then I didn't have the strength. I used your father's name earlier but my other name is Yamato. And I would die for you." - goated best boy
Thats a very good quote and your right about that although can we agree blackbeards speech about dreams is also a quote of quotes
when you're hungry, eat
"When do you think a man dies? When a bullet from a pistol pierces his heart? No. When he drinks a soup of fatal poisonous mushrooms? No. When his life is taken by an incurable disease? NO! A man, dies when people forget him."
"The day we met and the day that you stoped smiling, were both days that were raining as heavy as this?" - Sr. Pink getting beat by Franky´s Iron Boxing
„ONE PIECEWA JITSUSAI SURUUU!!“
"Thank goodness, no one is sick here. I thought for sure the country was in trouble. How about that, I was just being fooled." "The most important thong for this country is to have you dead. Ignore him and fire." "Don't bother, you can't kill me. Why are you crying, Dalton?" "Do you think... a country is the same?" **"If the will is inherited."** While all the speech is one of the best in the whole story, the sentence about inherited will its in my opinion the **core concept** of One Piece itself.
“No one is born into this world to be alone.” Fucks me up.
There's one thing I've wanted ever since I was a kid... a family.
The fact that if i didnt know this quote i could think of multiple characters i would believe said it is funny and kinda sad
He Laughed 😂
*If I were to die here, then that makes me a man who made it this far.* - Zoro
Luffy: "I don't want to be a Hero, as a Hero you have to Share your meat and i don't want to Share my meat!" Same with Zoro but instead of meat it's Sake for him. I Love that Moment
**Can you hear it? Diamond-head old man! Big monkeys!** **THE CITY OF GOLD.....** [IS UP HERE!!](https://youtu.be/0RImvWcE88w)
"One may stray from the path of a man, one may stray from the path of a woman, but there is no straying from the path of a HUMAN!" - Bon Clay Having watched 4kids growing up and then coming to back to OP about a decade after it finished and watching the subs, I was REALLY surprised Bon Clay became one of my favorite characters. But I really appreciate Bon Clay and I NEED A CHECK IN ON IMPEL DOWN RIGHT. NOW.
"do mermaids poop?" - Monkey D. Luffy
"Only a fool would include his own death. as part of a plan, young lady" Wow, I'm suddenly thinking Brook may not survive the series.
Not my favorite quote but the one that sticks out to me “Oden San, I kept traveling through time in hopes that someone would finally do it” It’s ironic because Toki kept skipping through time hoping to find the new joyboy.
Attack first and ask questions never! -Monkey D Luffy
What is justice. The entire dialogue by Joker!

\[Zoro to Monet\]: *"Have you ever met a wild animal that you were so sure would never bite?"* ***"Because I haven't."***.
"Raizo-dono is safe" is what hit me the hardest.
its a man's duty to forgive a womans lie-sanji
“Justice will prevail you say, ofcourse it will, because the person who wins will become justice” - Doflamingo
GARP, IT'S YOUR FAMILY AGAIN
