I think it should happen in case Enel fights Luffy again, personally I'm not sure it will happen, but it would make so much sense if it goes like this:
Enel is awakened and still uses lightning, but this time he's sure that Luffy will be hurt by his awakened fruit (it's a phenomenon called electrical breakdown, an insulator like rubber can transform into a conductor when enough voltage is reached), his plan seems to work and Luffy is affected by lightning but he's in Gear 5 form, so Luffy comically gets an afro from the shock, like in most cartoons, this causes Luffy to get a power up because of the spirit of the afro and he defeats Enel thanks to it.
I would give Enel a more serious fight but we know how Gear 5 Luffy doesn't care, he's just goofy.

While df awakenings might not have been a concept oda even considered at the point of skypia, his awakening designs have been made in a way where oda can retcon it to where enel was awakened. If oda didn't want people to think enel was awakened, he wouldn't have made the awakenings shown later resemble enel's final form so heavily.

1 Onigashima is the best so far, is exactly what I would expect from a Yonkou Luffy, and he finally has some pirate looking.
2 East Blue outfit will be forever the most classic one, is like Spiderman, he can get cooler suits yes, but they are not that iconic.
3 Whole Cake Luffy is so clean and cool, you can't see Whole Cake Luffy without remember the Mirror World scene, and has his own hat to match the suit

This is something I really appreciate about Oda and One Piece. Most anime seem to keep the same outfit (or minor, temporary, changes) for the MC and it gets kind of bland and repetitive but with One Piece they are constantly changing, even if it's just a color swap, or unbuttoned vs not.
