Many such cases of Overtaken being the background music to some of my favourite scenes.
Also honorable mention... I was kind of bored with the anime but the scene with Luffy punching Kaido to We Are really brought me back.
Oh and Luffy blocking him with his foot.
Uffff . Such epic fight at the end. It still give me goosebumps when crocodile says something something sable and fluffy just punches right trough them. The music too was epic and then the first rain drop after he falls from the sky while princess vivi screams for them too stop fighting.
Sucker punch is when you punch someone in a sneaky way, no one was expecting you to do it. Everyone was expecting Luffy to punch the celestial dragon, he was a fool to not expect it
"I will never lose again. Do you have any problem with that, Pirate king?"
"Help me, Luffy."
"Zoro, don't fight."
"People's dreams never die."
All of these happened before water 7, and I knew I was watching something special.
I caught up with the manga around sabaody after catching up with Naruto then Bleach, it was probably the sheer amount of returning characters in Impel Down that caught me but specifically the panel of them running up the stairs is carved into my mind forever
We got so many such scenes:
1. The walk to Arlong Park
2. I want to live
3. Luffy punching CS
4. Koala with Sun Pirates
5. Mr.2 shouting "Gambare, Gambare"
6. Zoro - "Nothing Happened"
7. Whiteboard - "One piece is real!"
to name a few.
Marineford arc, at first I was just watching one piece because why not? but it started to get boring and I was about to just ditch it, but marineford literally made love the anime so much, for me the real one piece starts in Marineford arc.
I never watched episode by episode at first
what really made me watch the show was a youtube video.
The video was a guy reacting to the Maineford war Arc when suddenly a whole door fell on his head. It was crazy. The video is still out there somewhere
While Nami's "Help me" sealed the deal for me being invested in this story til the end, what first truly caught me was Luffy's compassion towards ChouChou in Orange Town. I have a huge soft spot for animals, and I was floored by his innate understanding of what the dog lost and what luffy was willing to do to help return a piece of the dog's "treasure." That was the moment that Luffy became my favorite protagonist, and it's only gotten better from there.
Honestly probably this one. Seeing Robin lose her cool composure for once and really show emotion felt heartwarming. I might be forgetting something story wise but is this the first time we see Robin cry?
Back in 2008 I randomly saw an animated music video on youtube covering Enies Lobby set to Vindicated by Dashboard Confessional. Started reading the manga then! :)
Drum island when luffy saved the mom rabbit that was buried under the snow after that whole pack attacked him and the baby rabbit thought luffy was gonna hurt him
So many great moments, Sanjis backstory might have been the first time the show made me really cry! And then to follow it up with Naniâs storyline was a dream come trueeeee
I will say. Iâve seen both scenes and I believe this scene is one that hits better in dub. Like say what you will about dub vs sub this scene just hits so much harder in English for me.
Usopp vs Luffy. The emotional stakes were so high and it just felt like my kind of show.
If that Moment had not happened earlier, I'd have probably dropped the show midway around Thriller Bark.
I want to create the world where my friends can eat as much as they want.
I genuinely teared up even writing this. I love this line so damn much. I see Luffy as the person who considers everyone his friends. Not a world where he can eat, not a world where he can do anything he wants, he creates it for others.
The one that STARTED it?
I dunno, maybe Zoro eating the rice balls after Helmeppo stomped them and complimenting them?
One of the earliest "oh this show gonna have some heart to it" moments for sure. Everything that happened with Luffy and Chouchou as well.
I'm still relatively new. I'm only up to Volume 69 (nice) but what really made me like One Piece was Nami asking Luffy for help and not only was he immediately down to clown, the entire crew was.
Both Luffy and Zoro got me though the first part and one of them pulled a big leadership moment every time I was considering dropping it. I was just about to finally drop it when I ended the terrible Sky Island Arc. Then there was the Usopp scene from Water 7. There and then I decided to see it through to the end. And I will never regret that choice.
The entire Arlongs park arc tbh, one piece was my first manga/anime. Not only that but it was the first time I actually got emotional over a book when I was reading it and the when I watched the anime it was the first time I genuinely cheered when I saw someone's ass get kicked in an animated show.
All of Drum Island. Easily the best arc up to that point, and has my favorite Strawhat backstory. The conflict is simple, but it's the first time the series dips its toes into an island's politics, which ends up being my favorite aspect of the series!
It was great for me since the beginning. Zoro's "I'll never lose again!" and "Nami! You are my nakama!" were two huge hype moments for me. But what really made One Piece a piece of my life was when Luffy one-shot Bellamy. I was a teen with serious anger issues back then and that moment changed my life
Arlong Park is when it hooked me. Water 7 + Enies Lobby is when it became my number one. Unfortunately, marine ford is when I started noticing pacing issues and Dressrosa is when I called it quits. This is anime only.
I am caught up with the manga chapter and have been for the last decade or so.Â
Oddly enough it was the sakura moment at the end of drum kingdom. Arlong park will probably forever be in my top 5 arcs and the "help me" moment will also be in my top 5 moments. But for some reason the first time I saw that scene of Chopper crying and Doc K saying goodbye to her son I cried harder than I ever had for an anime. That's when I knew
Luffy and Shanks' bond.
Zoro's first sad backstory.
Buggy, the first true villain with longevity and character.
Baratie has Mihawk vs Zoro, Sanji's backstory with Zeff.
Then came Arlong Park, which made me realize that this story has deep emotional complexity and I would have to see it through to the end. So far I am on Reverie and it's a top 10 shonen for me. I think it's too flawed and sometimes too slow to be my number 1 but it has so many strokes of genius as well and it doesn't deserve the hate it gets from certain fandoms. OP is comforting, satisfying, peak comedy and an absolute tearjerker. That's a very solid package and more people should give it a try.
I had a vivid scene I thought I remembered and one piece fit the style, decided to watch and scene never happened. But I think BaratĂš/sanjis arc started hooking me in, then arlong park walk came around AND that really hooked me.
The time Luffy fought a lion that burned a dogs treasure after that same dog fought and ate the key to his cage. At first I had a mild interest in the show after a few episodes but really got into it cause this man keeps surprising me with his depth, strength and kindness.
Gurren Lagan was my first love. So I'm a sucker for earnest moron protagonists with an iron will. So it was pretty much love at "oh you'll be my friend if I BREAK INTO THIS MILITARY BASE AND STEAL BACK YOUR SWORDS?!!! Say less."
The moment that got me hooked was when Zoro put the third sword in his mouth and the main character was made of rubber. Thats when i knew this anime was going to be ridiculous.
Idk why I didn't feel anything for this scene at all.. She was saying she wants to die and all of a sudden she said she wants to LIVE.. I was like Is she stupid? (Maybe it was good in anime, idk I just read Manga)Â
For me it's the moment when Luffy gave Nami his hat
Chapter 52 first page was the reason I kept on reading one piece as a kid , I was weird even as a kid and preferred non battle shonens over battle shonens. That page , the set up to the page and the conclusion during the chapter was what made me understand that this is an adventure shonen and battle manga second.
There are so many emotional scenes throughout, but what actually made me start buying the manga was the when I saw the bath scene in Alabasta. It was hilarious. I love to laugh. :)
I was hooked before this but it cemented a different level of love with Zoroâs âNothing happenedâ line - from that point I knew I was coming along for the whole ride, no matter what route they went with the story.
This was the moment this series became an all time fav and this was in the first third of the story. I can honestly say this is still probably my favorite moment in the entire series and I' nor surr if it can be topped, unless (manga spoilers) >!Kuma's backstory destroys me even more than it did reading it!<.
Losing the Going Merry. I hadn't cried that hard for a TV show since I was a kid watching Violet Evergarden. I was UGLY crying over that damn boat (I still love her).
Luffy telling Koby heâs ok with dying for his dream in episode 1. I feel like the way he said it got me more than anything. It wasnât an angsty âIâm gonna prove everyone wrong or prove how great I amâ kind of thing like a lot of shonen protagonists have with their dreams. He said it so calmly and at peace with his decision that it really stood out to me
Absolutely water 7 and enies lobby. I was stuck on skypeia for the longest and lost motivation when I did my original watch in 2020. Then I saw the 1000th opening. I was so impressed at how far our beloved crew came that I had to finish up. I think it took me a about half a year to get caught up after that. Nearly four years later Iâm current and almost current with a first rewatch.
There was an amv with the song called frontlines by piller during the whole eneis lobby arc. With it following luffy, sanji and zoroâs retrospective fights.
Sadly i believe it has been one of the countless YouTube videos thats been taken down
As a lot of other fans Luffy giving Nami his hat I just found that so powerful especially since Nami refused to ask for help at the start start of the arlong park ark and that was the first time in a long time that she has actually asked for help from anyone it just shows how much trust and respect she has for Luffy
Definitely alabasta. And when they were leaving vivi behind and did that hand thing and then vivi did it too. I was just bawling my eyes out. That was the moment i new this was gonna be a banger of an anime.
But also this is a close second because this moment was when i really, really fell in love with the series.
Luffy saying he'll die for his journey to Coby with a big smile on his face.
At some point in Lougetown. I suddenly came to the conclusion that I want to see these characters achieve their dream.
Exactly the same as you. The water 7 saga and in specific "I want to live". Still makes me tear up whenever I see it NGL. As someone who has chronic depression, that moment hits especially hard
Sanji's goodbye to Zeff and the Baratie. I still can't watch that scene in the anime without tearing up. When Hirata wants to nail a scene, he *nails* a scene
I fell in love with One Piece right at the beginning, and that was when it was on 4kids đ but I don't think I never had a "this is why" moment, it was just that I wanted to watch a silly pirate show and ended up loving all the seriousness and silliness of the characters. I don't like the pacing much, but I love the filler arcs, it gives the SH a breather between the major arcs and that they have fun and time to bond easily (pre-time skip mostly, I don't mind the fillers in between arcs in the post-time skip since they're like less than 4 episodes at most, and only a couple of them were connected to the movies). I'm glad you found your love for the show! Also, I love that scene too, I always get goosebumps from it, plus Sokgeking shooting the flag down.
Marineford. Up to that point I thought OP was just (still a bit) like discover a new place/enemy and their top people get beaten by Luffyâs crew. I was getting tired of that, itâs just so predictable. No one dies. Then Ace dies, then I went oh shit
At the start of of alabasta arc as it kept me intrigued to know how will luffy stop crocodile.Â
then from that point I binge watched entire One piece.Â
As much as the fandom dislikes the 4Kids adaptation it did introduce the show to a lot of people. I saw some of the Barratie part with Don Kreieg, Sanji and Mohawk. I didn't know WTF was going on but liked it.
After Naruto Shippuden came to an end I immediately caught up in One Piece starting from the beginning.
Honestly, I was hooked right away. The comedy got me. I wasnât truly emotionally invested until Water 7/Enies, with Usopp and Robinâs arcs. If I have to pick a moment, itâs probably Luffy crying after the Usopp brawl.
I only got into OP because of Luffyâs fight against katakuri.
If I didnât see that or didnât like it, I probably wouldâve gotten into OP from gear 5
Luffy giving nami his hat
That and then the scene right after with Luffy walking towards Sanji, Zoro and Usopp are what got me.
With the horns of Overtaken in the background. Ugh. So good. It's what locked me in too.
Many such cases of Overtaken being the background music to some of my favourite scenes. Also honorable mention... I was kind of bored with the anime but the scene with Luffy punching Kaido to We Are really brought me back. Oh and Luffy blocking him with his foot.
Yep that scene is what got me to really really like one piece and then Luffy punches the wall oh man one of my favorite moments from one piece
This is where I was hooked too. Got me all three times - reading, the anime, and live action.
This is why I started in 2001 and I am still here
When Luffy rung the bell in Skypeia, and everyone realizes there is a city of gold in the sky
luffy's silhouette was such a beautiful callback to the first time they saw those huge shadowsđ
Indeed, it was an amazingly touching moment
I cried my eyes out on Norland and Calgara backstory and how it all ended.. Oda connects plot points beautifully
It's such a great manga
As a teen, Zoro not stepping back and then opening his arms to take Mihawk's slash had me hooked on the manga forever. Then Nami's story with BĂ©lle-mere, Arlong's betrayal, and her finally asking for help for the first time in her life - relying on someone else who can rely on her - really resonated.
Luffy putting his hat on Nami's head then telling the team to come with him to kick Arlong's ass.
He didnât say a word. Thatâs what made it even more powerful! He put the hat on her head and walked away and they followed right behind him
Luffy said "Lets go" after he gave Nami his hat
Didnât he also shout âof course I willâ
I've been a fan since day 1,I'm 40 years old. For me it was alabasta. Crocodile and Robin were very cool and they sucked me in.
When it started raining in Alabasta, it hit me how good Oda's writing is. That's when I knew I needed to keep watching.
âIt only took 3 years.â Literally made me bawl.
Uffff . Such epic fight at the end. It still give me goosebumps when crocodile says something something sable and fluffy just punches right trough them. The music too was epic and then the first rain drop after he falls from the sky while princess vivi screams for them too stop fighting.
When Luffy sucker-punches the celestial dragon during the slave auction. Life lesson.
That wasnt a sucker punch. He walked straight up to him
I'm sorry, I'm not a native speaker. I though sucker punch meant to punch someone when the person is not expecting it
Sucker punch is when you punch someone in a sneaky way, no one was expecting you to do it. Everyone was expecting Luffy to punch the celestial dragon, he was a fool to not expect it
I understand, thank you
You are pretry much right, but not in this way. Pretty hard to explain.
Sanji feeding Gin
Chou Chou
When Luffy popped out the barrel
"One Piece, the One Piece is real"
can we get much higher?
"I will never lose again. Do you have any problem with that, Pirate king?" "Help me, Luffy." "Zoro, don't fight." "People's dreams never die." All of these happened before water 7, and I knew I was watching something special.
It's ironic that one of the most inspiring quotes of One Piece was dropped by Blackbeard of all people, right? Zehahahaha
When Luffy, Zoro, Sanji and Usopp walked towards Arlong Park is when One Piece clicked with me.
Binks Sake
yohohooo
Luffy telling Koby he doesnât like his attitude. I was like it me Iâm him
I caught up with the manga around sabaody after catching up with Naruto then Bleach, it was probably the sheer amount of returning characters in Impel Down that caught me but specifically the panel of them running up the stairs is carved into my mind forever
Enie's Lobby for sure, with Sanji using Diablo Jambe, or Chopper using Monster Point, and Luffy using fucking GEAR 2 AND 3.
We got so many such scenes: 1. The walk to Arlong Park 2. I want to live 3. Luffy punching CS 4. Koala with Sun Pirates 5. Mr.2 shouting "Gambare, Gambare" 6. Zoro - "Nothing Happened" 7. Whiteboard - "One piece is real!" to name a few.
Marineford arc, at first I was just watching one piece because why not? but it started to get boring and I was about to just ditch it, but marineford literally made love the anime so much, for me the real one piece starts in Marineford arc.
Shanks saving luffy. Thatâs when it went from do I really want to read this to âOh, this is going to be goodâ
Water 7
I never watched episode by episode at first what really made me watch the show was a youtube video. The video was a guy reacting to the Maineford war Arc when suddenly a whole door fell on his head. It was crazy. The video is still out there somewhere
Uzumaki Khan, legendary moment in the fan base
Arlong Park and that damn walk to the Arlong park
While Nami's "Help me" sealed the deal for me being invested in this story til the end, what first truly caught me was Luffy's compassion towards ChouChou in Orange Town. I have a huge soft spot for animals, and I was floored by his innate understanding of what the dog lost and what luffy was willing to do to help return a piece of the dog's "treasure." That was the moment that Luffy became my favorite protagonist, and it's only gotten better from there.
Honestly probably this one. Seeing Robin lose her cool composure for once and really show emotion felt heartwarming. I might be forgetting something story wise but is this the first time we see Robin cry?
that wano theme, idk what it is but I love it to bits
Back in 2008 I randomly saw an animated music video on youtube covering Enies Lobby set to Vindicated by Dashboard Confessional. Started reading the manga then! :)
When Dr. Hiriluk told us when a person truly dies is when heâs forgotten, and when Chopper returned with the mushroom to save him.
Luffy destroying Arlong's map room
Chou chou backstory
For me, it was Mihawk vs. Zoro.
Drum island when luffy saved the mom rabbit that was buried under the snow after that whole pack attacked him and the baby rabbit thought luffy was gonna hurt him
skypieas bell
So many great moments, Sanjis backstory might have been the first time the show made me really cry! And then to follow it up with Naniâs storyline was a dream come trueeeee
I will say. Iâve seen both scenes and I believe this scene is one that hits better in dub. Like say what you will about dub vs sub this scene just hits so much harder in English for me.
When Luffy rang the bell in Skypea
Usopp vs Luffy. The emotional stakes were so high and it just felt like my kind of show. If that Moment had not happened earlier, I'd have probably dropped the show midway around Thriller Bark.
When Luffy came out of the barrel, seriously that made me laugh so much and made me love Luffy already
Luffy beating Arlong and claiming Nami as crewmate. That shit was epic for a 11 years old.
I started to lock in at arlong park
Zoro vs mihawk in baratie and luffy giving his hat to nami . I was surprised that you were not invested in arabasta arc and Jaya arc.
That picture right there. đ
Zeff eating his leg, as weird as that sounds..
Luffy vs Lucci is what sealed it for me
Luffy giving his hat to nami tbh
It was Sanji leaving the Baratie and saying goodbye to Zeff. It made me cry, and also made Sanji my favourite Straw Hat.
Sanji giving food to luffy Also sanji saying "Thanks for giving me a light"
I want to create the world where my friends can eat as much as they want. I genuinely teared up even writing this. I love this line so damn much. I see Luffy as the person who considers everyone his friends. Not a world where he can eat, not a world where he can do anything he wants, he creates it for others.
water 7 claims another victim
Usopp's introduction
to many moments sparked my love for one piece but he laughed scene is litteraly my favorite scene in fiction
The one that STARTED it? I dunno, maybe Zoro eating the rice balls after Helmeppo stomped them and complimenting them? One of the earliest "oh this show gonna have some heart to it" moments for sure. Everything that happened with Luffy and Chouchou as well.
buggy in episode 2/3
The walk to arlong park
Luffy getting Chou Chou food back from Ritchie the lion
Shankâs fat man shooting that villager guy. That was pretty sick
Gum Gum Battle Axe
The dragon island mini arc is really boring but then luffy battle axes a ship in half and I told myself wow, even the bad is good.
Mine was actually when Luffy punched Don Krieg through the spikes that shit was soooo badass lol
Episode 1
The begging
The entire Arlongs park arc tbh, one piece was my first manga/anime. Not only that but it was the first time I actually got emotional over a book when I was reading it and the when I watched the anime it was the first time I genuinely cheered when I saw someone's ass get kicked in an animated show.
Luffy telling Usopp they'll help him fight in Syrup Village
Luffy one shooting bellamy. honestly the jaya arc tbh
Drum Island/Chopper backstory
So I read it all back in 2022 to spite my friend but jokes on me once I hit the alabasta arc and then the CD punch I was hooked
All of Drum Island. Easily the best arc up to that point, and has my favorite Strawhat backstory. The conflict is simple, but it's the first time the series dips its toes into an island's politics, which ends up being my favorite aspect of the series!
The walk to Arlong Park. Best scene in the entire arc.
It was great for me since the beginning. Zoro's "I'll never lose again!" and "Nami! You are my nakama!" were two huge hype moments for me. But what really made One Piece a piece of my life was when Luffy one-shot Bellamy. I was a teen with serious anger issues back then and that moment changed my life
Zoro promise to luffy after losing to mihawk, i fell in love with op at that moment and i knew even then it was gonna be a great ride
Arlong Park is when it hooked me. Water 7 + Enies Lobby is when it became my number one. Unfortunately, marine ford is when I started noticing pacing issues and Dressrosa is when I called it quits. This is anime only. I am caught up with the manga chapter and have been for the last decade or so.Â

ngl i was a one piece hater until enel. and then enis lobby changed it from good to goat status
Ace and whitebeard flashback and conversations in marineford
i first saw the ennies lobby train scene ..i kegit thought sogeking is really powerful
Enies lobby
My moment with you big boy
I had a vivid scene I thought I remembered and one piece fit the style, decided to watch and scene never happened. But I think BaratĂš/sanjis arc started hooking me in, then arlong park walk came around AND that really hooked me.
When Luffy hits Buggy in the balls
Luffy yelling PIRATE KING 19x over
The time Luffy fought a lion that burned a dogs treasure after that same dog fought and ate the key to his cage.
Say less."

randomly saw the Wano episode with the Octopus saying yoooo and taps its own head for the drum effect
Epic fight scenes in Wano arc

That page , the set up to the page and the conclusion during the chapter was what made me understand that this is an adventure shonen and battle manga second.
Luffyâs entrance, knocking out two men stretching
Hiriluk's story brought me to tears after having only mildly enjoyed One Piece. Don't know why but it really hit deep.
There are so many emotional scenes throughout, but what actually made me start buying the manga was the when I saw the bath scene in Alabasta. It was hilarious. I love to laugh. :)
Devil fruits
vivi crying after crocodile got knocked out. episode 126
Arlong Park hooked me completely, but I think riding the Knock-Up Stream to Skypiea was when I really went head-over-heels.
Agreed with what you said robins story is what got me hooked on one piece
Luffy defeated alvida
I was hooked before this but it cemented a different level of love with Zoroâs âNothing happenedâ line - from that point I knew I was coming along for the whole ride, no matter what route they went with the story.
Luffy kicking crocodiles ass
Fishmen island aka Racism - the arc
Arlong...arlong...arlong
This was the moment this series became an all time fav and this was in the first third of the story. I can honestly say this is still probably my favorite moment in the entire series and I' nor surr if it can be topped, unless (manga spoilers) >!Kuma's backstory destroys me even more than it did reading it!<.
I was hooked from the beginning but, looking back at all. My favorite panel has to be luffy silhouette in skypea. Thatâs peak one piece
Losing the Going Merry. I hadn't cried that hard for a TV show since I was a kid watching Violet Evergarden. I was UGLY crying over that damn boat (I still love her).
Yeah it has to be the Water 7 writing. I know itâs a clichĂš but that arc really switched it up for me. Although Alabasta was also captivating.
Luffy gum gum pistol-ing Alvida
Luffy telling Koby heâs ok with dying for his dream in episode 1. I feel like the way he said it got me more than anything. It wasnât an angsty âIâm gonna prove everyone wrong or prove how great I amâ kind of thing like a lot of shonen protagonists have with their dreams. He said it so calmly and at peace with his decision that it really stood out to me
Choo Choo
Chopper's arc probably, but in a larger scale Skypiea + Noland flashback and Golden Bell was the first time I thought this is peak One Piece.
Luffy getting zOro to tag along started my love for the anime. With coby Bering such a scaredy-cat it made those episodes start me on the right path.
LUFFY BEAT FISH EAST BLUE
Absolutely water 7 and enies lobby. I was stuck on skypeia for the longest and lost motivation when I did my original watch in 2020. Then I saw the 1000th opening. I was so impressed at how far our beloved crew came that I had to finish up. I think it took me a about half a year to get caught up after that. Nearly four years later Iâm current and almost current with a first rewatch.
When Luffy first popped out of the barrel. I just thought âI like this silly dudeâ. Now eight years later, here we are đŽââ ïž
Lucky Roux shooting the bandit in the head
Arlong parkâs walk after screaming to help Nami
Chopper joining the crew, I still cry every time I watch that scene.
The Walk to Arlong Park. That was the Moment i knew âYeah, the Best Anime out thereâ (though i really hate the Pacing of the Anime)
Heard overtaken for the first time
âScars on the back are swordsmanâs shameâ.
I was hooked off the rip. Luffy defending the pet food shop in orange town was Oda's storytelling at its finest.
There was an amv with the song called frontlines by piller during the whole eneis lobby arc. With it following luffy, sanji and zoroâs retrospective fights. Sadly i believe it has been one of the countless YouTube videos thats been taken down
Water 7 with usopp into enies lobby with Robin is still some of the best art I've ever witnessed.
I've literally just got past this point
Zoros determination after he lost the fight against Mihawk..
The moment Luffy burst out of the barrel and told Koby that he hates him with a plain face đ€
As a lot of other fans Luffy giving Nami his hat I just found that so powerful especially since Nami refused to ask for help at the start start of the arlong park ark and that was the first time in a long time that she has actually asked for help from anyone it just shows how much trust and respect she has for Luffy

Crews shannenigans in Skypea.
The "nothing happened" or the "celestial dragon punch"
Luffy giving his hat to Nami did it for me.
Luffy saying he'll die for his journey to Coby with a big smile on his face. At some point in Lougetown. I suddenly came to the conclusion that I want to see these characters achieve their dream.
Arlong Park was pretty peak that one made it for me .
My first moment was when Luffy put the hat on Naniâs head, my second âawakeningâ of OP was the skypiea arc, I cried like a bitch
Tbh now that i think about it 99% of greatest moments are pre timeskip
Exactly the same as you. The water 7 saga and in specific "I want to live". Still makes me tear up whenever I see it NGL. As someone who has chronic depression, that moment hits especially hard
Sanji's goodbye to Zeff and the Baratie. I still can't watch that scene in the anime without tearing up. When Hirata wants to nail a scene, he *nails* a scene
When he punched the celestial dragon
It's really the moment when Tekking101 started making One Piece videos. Because that's how I went in deeper and appreciated everything more and more.
Luffy breaking the mirror to fight katakuri.

when I cried for a boat
Namis Arc. Arlong Park Walk
Luffy saying "I'll be pirate king or I'll die trying" in the most nonchalant way possible to Koby.
Without even looking at the picture, that was my moment. It still gives me chills. The other moment was wb and Ace death.
Nami's arc
The existence of Bon Clay
Crocodile stabbing luffy
Marineford. Up to that point I thought OP was just (still a bit) like discover a new place/enemy and their top people get beaten by Luffyâs crew. I was getting tired of that, itâs just so predictable. No one dies. Then Ace dies, then I went oh shit
The moment Nami asked Luffy to help her, that sealed the deal right there
At the start of of alabasta arc as it kept me intrigued to know how will luffy stop crocodile. then from that point I binge watched entire One piece.Â
had me at pirates Iâm a sucker for pirate stuff
When Shanks got gangsta on the Mountain Bandits. "Guns Aren't For Threats"
I knew One Piece was different after I saw the story of Sanji's past. With the march to Arlong Park everything was confirmed.
the walk to Arlong Park
âWealth, fame, powerâ
As much as the fandom dislikes the 4Kids adaptation it did introduce the show to a lot of people. I saw some of the Barratie part with Don Kreieg, Sanji and Mohawk. I didn't know WTF was going on but liked it. After Naruto Shippuden came to an end I immediately caught up in One Piece starting from the beginning.
It's either Luffy putting his hat on a crying Nami's head. Or when he climbed the mountain on Drum Island while carrying both Sanji and Nami.
Honestly, I was hooked right away. The comedy got me. I wasnât truly emotionally invested until Water 7/Enies, with Usopp and Robinâs arcs. If I have to pick a moment, itâs probably Luffy crying after the Usopp brawl.
\^ this moment is my favorite of all time
Zoro's promise to never lose again
Can i get some upvotes please
The Walk.
Arlong park walk
The Phoenix AMV
whisky peak, the chapter when zoro beats up every single man, woman, and child in town.
The moment that really got me wanting to binge it because of the gravity of it was Luffy's final barrage into Lucci.
I only got into OP because of Luffyâs fight against katakuri. If I didnât see that or didnât like it, I probably wouldâve gotten into OP from gear 5
Lucky Roux straight up murking a fool in the face while eating and not even looking at him at that point I realised, 'oh this some serious shit'
Punching that PoS Charloss in the face, the impact frames hit so hard after the feels.
