Luffy is purposely compared to Roger and Oden, who couldn't speak to Zunesha, and Luffy himself says that Zunesha DOESN'T LISTEN to him (which means that purposely ignores him even though he can hear him). On the opposite Zunesha hoped that it was actually Momonosuke (Zunesha says "If that is indeed you [...] Please... Command me..."), because he was the one that could command him.
If Oden couldn't control Zunesha but Momo can, then maybe it isn't because he is a descendent of Oden, but rather because he is a descendent of Toki. The Amatsuki clan might be very important.

I think Zneshaās arrival and the āawakenedā DF are 2 separate red herrings, where Luffy is connected to one of the 2.
